What is the function of sprite backup..?
What is the procedure to recover the default settings in case the phone hangs ..
I wish to put Ifonz ( Iphone clone) as i like it.. has anybody used it...?
i hope it will not mess up the ROM...?
cheers.
Sprite backup is to errrr Backup everything you want from your device.
It is always a good idea to backup everything especially system settings in case you have to hard reset.
I personally use SPB Backup, but Sprite does the same thing.
Just follow the programme and it will ask you what you want to backup and usually includes all your PIM data.
You can then do a restore with the same programe.
thanks Mack....i used it now.
Now any of you have used Ifonz..? it is clone of iphone display..

SPB Backup will do this for you.
It allows you to do a complete backup & restore the parts you want to.
What you want to back up is listed under "PIM" with SPB Backup.
Handy tool to have!
You can also dowload the freeware smsOrganizer.
You can try FlexMail also It gives you all backup features you need. Sprite backup do the same thing as a backup application.
Regarding your WM5 theme, just go to settings/today/appearence and choose another theme from the list.
Good luck!
I use Sprite and Jeyo
Sprite can't successfully restore on WM6 MMS backed up on WM5.
Any hints?

Hi, I am using SPB back up and under PIM data, I can only see contacts, appointments, call log and speed dial, There is no SMS or MMS, Am I missing something? I did a full back up and I am not sure why it's not backing up the SMS and MMS. Any help. Please let me know if there are any programs for backing up the MMS. Thanks
Abhay
I have installed custom rom, and all the apps i need. Is there a way to backup or make a ghost/ clone image of this.
You need to install a backup program such as Sprite Backup or SPB Backup. You actually should have done this right after you upgraded your ROM inorder to minimize your risk of undoing all the hard work of customization. A good backup program is mandatory insurance for anyone who likes to improve the productivity of their device on a regular basis.
thanks a bunch backup worked great
I made the misstake and backup my phone with Sprite Backup to a .exe file instead of a .pbf file... Now I can't restore the files I need without a fully restore. This would not be good as I have upgraded the ROM.
Does anyone know how I can extract some files from this backup file (.exe)?
I have tried Sprite Explorer but it doesn't work.
Also, does anyone know if Sprite Backup backups SMS?
Edit:
Can answer myself... I made a FULL restore of my backup file and it seems to have restored the ROM? and also all the SMS and everything... So now I have installed Spb Backup and made backup of those files I want to backup...
Works fine for me... I can extract any file I like from my sprite (.exe) backup files using Sprite Explorer 6.2.2
Hi studtz,
Can you tell where did you find Sprite Explorer 6.2.2? I cannot find it anywhere on the net...I do have the same trouble to get my contacts from Sprite backup "exe" files with Sprite Explorer 1.0001.etc... I do need help on this...
Does anybody knows about it?

Hi,
I've made a backup using SPB on my MDA from T-Mobile (Diamond.)
Now, I've updated to Dutty ROM and everything works fine.
However, when I restore the backup from SPB (.exe) and do only restore PERSONAL DATA the device doesn't boot anymore. I must do a hard reset to make it boot again.
I only want to get my SMS. Contacts etc. is all in Outlook 2007.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
J.
Same problem here!
Same Explorer problem (.exe)
I'm about ready to run at Sprite Backup with a chainsaw. I just wanted to back up my contacts and now I can't sync them to my phone by themselves. The program always fails. Is there an alternative? Must I use ActiveSync to connect?

Sprite Backup Tool
I can recommend SK-Tools backup. It is reliable and one can customize it a lot. Sprite Backup was supplied with my O2 XDA Diamond and I had several times the problem, that Sprite refused to Backup because of an unknown error shown on the screen. Perhaps because of a certain combination of installed apps, don't know.
With SK-Tools this never happend. In addition to this it is quit cheap and offers tons of other usefull functionality.
try Sprite backup and then Jeyo Mobile Companion for SMS (with threading) and Email etc.
I've used both sprite and spb in the past, and they have both worked fine for me when I restore after breaking something.
I haven't tried either one in the rom upgrade mode (I don't really trust them for that).
At the moment I'm using sprite 6.5
thanks for your help guys !
Good evening guys,
I tried to backup my diary entries using Titanium Backup, but when I tried to restore them on the new Firmware they didn't appear. Same for my SMS Messages...
Could you tell what exactly I have to backup?
Thank you for your help!
Backup Methods Before Flashing?
I've been using MyBackupPro, but it does not save any of my settings. I have to set up a lot of stuff like email accounts and so on every time I flash.
Is there a better way?
Have you tried titanium backup? I find it works best.

No I haven't yet. I read reviews of MyBackupPro, saying it's the best So I bought it.
Does Titanium Backup save preferences, including passwords and email settings?

Hey,
I believe it does, it saves all of my preferences with games like Alsphalt so it should do the same with your e-mail.
Try it, it's free.
stupid question: Is somebody working on a custom recovery image with Nandroid or something?

I hope someone is, that would be best option, titanium is brilliant though and has saved me a few times, I have it scheduled to backup everynight.
I also use Mybackup pro for sms and call logs etc.
neither can bring your homescreen widgets back as before.
Is there anything that saves your facebook/google links in contacts? That's the thing I find most annoying having to go back through them one by one...
Titanium backup in its current form is not functioning correctly on my phone aswell as many other galaxys users
yes - unfortunately Titanium Backup currently won't backup the databases :-(
Best backup app for galaxy?
Is there anything out there which will backup our apps, contacts etc before I flash a new rom to my phone? Is it possible in kies? I'm loath to have to link my face book and google mail contacts again
Backup apps/settings to PC? possible?
Hi all, i have seen many threads regarding backup apps such as wave/titanium pro etc but im wondering if its possible to backup to a PC?
as much as its a naughty word, i liked apples way of backing up using itunes. you simply plugged in your phone and voila its backing up into a friendly restorable format.
i just want a simple backup of my device encase i flash to others roms.
is this possible?
i don't know of such application.
but what is so bad about backing it up to the External SD card?
you want your backup to be with you all the time, so in case of "OMG! happens", you can easily Hard Reset, then restore from backup from the SD card.
once on the SD card, you can easily copy it over to your PC, the next time you hookup your USB cable.
if you want it done automatically, you can always create a script on your PC to grab X files from X folder every time the USB connects to X device
I love the backup software from PalmOS, they works automatically just as you wanted.
I never found a good one that actually works on WinMobile
in Android it's almost perfect, it just missing the part to sync the backups to the desktop automatically.
But that's a minor thing, as you can do the batch command mentioned above.
you can try this one for size, see if you like it.

Nandroid v2.0 - Full NAND backup and restore tool
else you can go for PAID applications such as... Titanium Backup and many other ones
never thought of it like that.
as for backup apps which one is proving decent? i see alot about wave and titanium backup.
Yeah... Titanium Back-up is great. You can even try MyBackup Pro. Both are equally good.
MyBackup Pro restores all the apps perfectly but is not able to link those to the Android Market...
what do you guys use to backup all your data before changing firmware
I already flashed my girlfriend's galaxy S twice
and each time i was installing and configuring the device as she want...
Once again there is a new firmware that correct some interesting part (GPS)
but i REALLY don't want to loose 2 hours of my time to
a: install the apps my gf has
b: configure the device (font, ring tone, volume ...)
so question : what are you using to save the time of installing/configurating...
thanks in advance
I'm also interested to know how you make it.. Thanks
