Hi,
Another thing I've noticed with the Touch Diamond is that you don't seem to be able to stop Sent SMS messages being saved in the Sent folder.
There is an option under the Messaging Tools/Options ("Keep copies of sent items in the Sent folder"). I unticked this, but my outgoing texts are still being saved, so they can make up the "conversation" threads. However, I don't want to keep them.
On my Touch Cruise, having this option unticked meant that outgoing texts were not saved, but it doesn't seem to have the any affect on the Diamond.
Anyone found a way around this?
Regards,
Ben
It's probably a 'feature' to do with the threaded sms function in 6.1.
I opened my SMS folders, went to Sent Items, and clicked Menu, Tools, Clear SMS/MMS. From that point forward, my texts have not been saved in Sent Items.

Strange...I tried that, but it doesn't work for me. Still keeps the sent messages :-(

It still keeps your sent messages because they were already saved.
By changing the setting, it will apply to any messages sent from that point onwards.

Yup, I realise that...but it's still saving newly sent messages (ie even those sent after I made the change to the option and cleared all SMS messages).
I got he same case
the sent message was saved to my inbox and form the conversation when i clicked on it, any method to turn off this function? becoz it caused conflict with my SMS firewall, no matter how i blocked the sms, it still appeared on my inbox.

All my sent sms are being saved in the Sent sms map. The problem is that i have unticked the option: keep a copy of the sent sms in the sent sms folder.
So despite this it keeps just saving it in the folder. How can i fix this?
Nobody got a solution?
From what I know of, the options reads "keep a copy of sent messages", and only affects e-mail accounts.
and there is no option to let it affect sms messages too?
Not that I know of. Is that a big deal anyway?
Hi, yesterday I added a new contact into my Nexus. When I went to text the contact later on, the message failed to send. I noticed that I had entered the contact number incorrectly (had an extra 0 at the front) and corrected my mistake. The thing is now, whenever I receive a message from that contact, and reply, it tries to reply to the incorrect number I originally entered, even though there is no reference to it. I have to keep deleting the thread on Handcent, and starting a new one, but it still always messes up when I have to reply to a text.
Anyone know why this is? I tried to delete the contact from the phone, and I get this message: "This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted"
If it's of any help I have nexus one with cyanogenmod 6.0 installed and use handcent and have whatsapp installed as well (not sure if ths makes any difference)
Bump, incase anyone missed it.
Have looked at the contact info via your web Gmail?
When you go to edit your contact, keep scrolling down. Android as an annoying way a merging multiple contacts if they have the same name...

Did that too, as well as contact storage and contacts. It has to be being cached somewhere, but I don't know where.
I was wondering if there is a way to disable the "Limit Messages" notification when you enter the SMS stock application.
I find it really annoying and I always have to hit the "No Limit" button to access a text. I have gone to the Settings but no luck. I have the 'Delete old messages' unchecked and I think thats the reason I am getting this annoying notification.
Just want to be able to have unlimited messages and if I do feel the need to delete a text I can.
Anybody finding this annoying as well?
If you really need to keep all your messages......????....use an app that will store/backup them for you
Swyped.....you may have to interpret
Good point. I have been using SMS backup to back up my text messages to my Gmail account for some time. I should have realized that I done need to keep ALL my texts.
One thing I am not sure is if SMS Backup application backs up MMS as well?
What I did from the beginning was set the text limit to the max (apparently 5000) for normal and mms and unchecked the delete old messages box. Only a temporary fix though since its not hard for me to get to 5000. At least with one person.

Just verified this and the SMS Backup does not backup MMS to gmail. I looked at the settings no option.
Any body know of an app that can backup MMS to gmail?
My IS starts to have a weird problem since today. I can send and receive sms to and from people. However, the sms message which I sent are not saved in the phone.
There is plenty memory available in my phone. what's the problem? This is really annoying :-(
Don't want to state the obvious, but have you enabled 'save sent items' in your options?
are you using stock messaging tool or a third party app?

Yes, "save sent items" is enabled and I'm using the stock messaging tool. Without changing any of the setting, the phone suddenly stopped saving sent sms. It's really strange.
sorry, did not check your reply.
you could try backing up everything and do a factory reset.
there doesn't seem to be a reason why the sent messages are not being saved...
have u use ant 3rd party sofware like handcent/go sms...
try
- uninstall it & how your message working (test it)
- install it again
Help please.. I was told that my phone has been sending sms messages to my friends on my contacts list. Without me knowing it, of course. What causes this? Any help would be appreciated.
You have obviously installed some app that has permissions to do this. Go though the most recent installs, and uninstall any that have the rights to send messages and see contact information.
Look at the sms's sent and see if there is any clue there, too.
ok thanks for the quick reply.. But how about some apps, that came already installed on the phone, I cant remove them.. Also some social apps, like the facebook and yahoo messenger.. They have this permissions, is there any way to unable the said permission? thanks!
Preinstalled apps won't do this.. Neither will facebook or Yahoo Messenger.
ok.. because those pre-installed one's also has reminders like those. So its safe for mo to re-install fb and ym?
its safe to install fb yahoo .
What are the contents of these SMS? Is it like a butt dial SMS or are your friends getting strange advertisements and links?
Sounds like malware.
uhm, they were receiving txt messages that I have already previously sent them. I mean older ones..
anyone? who has the same problem?

Yes, I had this. For some reason the texts were marked as unsent, probably because I have bad cell coverage at home. On a reboot they were all resent, regardless of if they had been sent.
I started using GO SMS and I have not had the problem. I also updated my kernel, but I cannot imagine that was the issue.
I also rooted the phone and killed off the bloatware. Perhaps it was the social hub, which I have now disabled.
could it be the "sms popup" that i installed? I installed it for me to be able to reply much easier to person texting em. Its like a pop up where you can already see the message and reply at once..
I looked at the GO SMS, I saw that it also has a reminder that it allows the phone to send text messages on its own.
Whats the best messga widget do you guys use? Thanks!

Not impossible. I think I did use that to, but the GO SMS has a popup of its own which seems better.
There is also a GO SMS widget that works quite well, I find. I prefer the popup and an unread message count shortcut.
