Have a look through JimmyMcGee's link, then look through here. There are some stunning pictures. If you still can't take good photos it's probably you and not the camera.

isnt this what dutty runs on his rom?

its not like im displeased with the quality of picture... the lag is just ****ing unbearable and makes me want to never use it and the fix posted in the wiki doesnt seem to work for me

out of curiosity what are those pictures of?? water .. stacked in a nice looking room ... ??

I hate to tell you - it's a PHONE!
It is NOT a:
1. computer (although it works well to get email and short messages sent)
2. gameboy (although you can waste a lot of time playing games on it)
3. Nikon/Canon (although you CAN take some nice pictures on it)
It is what it is...
Best you can say - you need better get a phone that has a better picture taker on it - will you sacrifice something that is on your Tilt? Yup - most likely you will then say the phone is not good enough or the email is not good enough - or you need GPS...
Your picture actually looks pretty fine for a CELL PHONE!
Bill

Well, I have a Tilt as well and I must say my Tilt takes better pictures than that. Have a look at the thread where everybody posts pictures from their Kaiser. Compare them and see what settings they have things on.

Is it a stock rom or a cooked rom? What camera version are you running? Have you tried the photo quality cab floating around? Need a little more info to help.
But remember, it's a phone first. All the other stuff is just that, stuff.

Ok here are a couple things to do to improve Picture Quality. Remove the Battery Cover. Take a Picture. Did it Focus Faster. That Plastic piece in the Battery Cover is a Picture Destroyer.
Secondly Install Navadi Camera Fix. Also set the Shutter Sound Off and Set to half Press. Try those things.

did no one read my second post? the picture quality is not the problem... the lag in low lighting situations just turns me off from using it because its just such a pita... im currentily running duttys 6.1... so im assuming everyone just deals with it?

Bingo. We jsut deal with it.
You know what they say, "Jack Of All Trades, Master of None."
The Kaiser can do a lot of stuff, but it does none of it well.

Have you actually used this for a teleconference? How did it work?
My network doesnt support it unfortunately.
So all i use for my front camera is a mirror / lame youtube blogs.
Actually I found out that the front camera takes photos much faster than the rear camera, and even though the resolution is not as good, the faster responsiveness often makes it a preferred tool for photos.
I've only used it once and it works well.
can someone post a pic from the front camera and post it here?
Here ya go.
at&t
does at&t support videoconference on its 3G? I have the Kaiser but no one to test with! I dont know anyone as self indulgent as myself who buys these things
dont mean to hijack this thread but can we use front camera for yahoo messenger or msn?

AT&T does support video calls, but you'll need to have a video calling packaged added to your line less you want extra charges. Another way for AT&T to make more $$. I can't wait for the day when video calls are no different from normal voice calls.

I was also wondering if (at the very least) one way teleconferencing would be available on AT&T (via cellular video)...obviously this is not on of the four supported phones, but with the 3g network in place it would be interesting to try...

Bad camera quality

hi there everyone. I got my kaiser a couple of days ago of a friend's friend and its a great phone. i am having a problem though with the camera as i understand its 3 megapixil, but my quality is realy really bad. It is very blurry to the point where the picture is just ugly.
my camera quality is really bad i have one of the newsest camera software installed. i dont mean the lag or anything i just mean the camera quality is so blurry and unclear i have sharpness on high and styll :S
when i press the camera button to take a picture and it auto focuses, before the green thing comes for juss half a second everything is clear buh then becomes super blurry when the green part comes and the pictures turns out blurry (so much for the moment of clarity ). any suggestions or is it jus broken
It would be nice if you would post a pic of the blurrieness so that we can compare with our blurrieness. Oh and the camera is known for being ghetto.
Take the back off and take a picture, most probably it is the plastic cover over the lens, to which can be removed
Like the guy above me said...take the cover off when you take a picture...I finally just got tired of always having to take the cover off, so I just got an exacto knife and removed the plastic piece on the back cover that "protects" the camera...and now my pictures are true 3MP quality =)
A known poor design issue
There have been many threads about this here already so a search will reveal more. What you're experiencing is probably known as Chromatic Aberration which as you can read is associated with the design of the lense and its cover. As mentioned removing the cover helps (as does making sure it's kept clean - not an easy task considering it's right where your fingers go).
hole
i did a hole for clear snapping pics...lol..

OMG! You're right. After reading this thread, I took two pictures, one with the cover on, and one with the cover off. The difference is remarkable. I didn't know my kaiser was capable of pictures like this
Here is the proof.
And just think, this is a really old subject that has been covered before. You could have been taking pictures like this earlier if you had found those threads.
thnx everyone it actaully is working amazing now . i had some plastic clear sticker on top of it and when i took it off the camera started taking crystal clear pictures. its BOOOOOM! now

iSeeU - Clip on mirror that gives us a front facing camera

Check this out, this will give us a front facing camera in a snap. Has anyone tried one of these for the Incredible? My concern is the clip... it looks like it's designed for iPhones so I don't know if it would work on an Incredible.

you would have to modify it to work. our camera isnt mounted in the same place as the iphone.

You're right; it's pretty close though:
I was thinking of taking the plunge and buying one just to see, but was hoping someone else on here already did. Bump for hope?

looking at the amazon site it looks like you could do it. idk the thickness difference from our phones to the iphone so i dont know how well it would clip on.
I don't think it woudl stay on. It looks like that one clips onto the iphone by the earpiece and the contoured back - our phone has the earpiece in a different spot and the back isn't curved it's just different levels. Might take some modifying.
Updated to MIUI 1.5.6 tonight that bring gtalk voice and video chat. Im going to buy it in at the end of the month. Ill let everyone know how it goes.
Haha as if using video chat in public wasn't weird enough.

Awesome, thanks for taking the plunge! Looking forward to your results.
That doesnt look like it would fit, and an eye sore to boot.
Has anyone tried this yet on our phone?
It seems like you lose the main camera but gain a front facing camera with the same megapixel camera on the phone.

[Q] [Filming] - Frame drops ?

Hello there !
I'm one click away to pre order this beauty.
One thing that is stopping me (and it's the only thing that actually) is that I've seen several videos shot under low light conditions that were clearly showing frame drops.
So, what is your experience on this with the HTC One for the lucky ones already owning it ?
Is it a bug that will be fixed soon ?
Thanks a lot !
Can you provide some examples?
I dont noticed any drops and it works smooth till now...
Hi,
Starting at 00:37 here : youtube.com/watch?v=K10ZB6kGo5M
It's clearly visible.
I believe this is a problem that happened with the HTC droid DNA where there are frame drops and audio lags behind video alot, not sure if it got fixed yet
I will test it tomorrow and report if i can reproduce it

That would be awesome !
Can you also please take some picture at 0 & -2 sharpness in order to see the difference ?
Thanks a lot
Made some videos today, and was not able to reproduce it. At least not while making ~1-3 minutes videos.
Will try to do it in the evening, when its dark. Also i can imagine, that first videos were done with pre release versions, which may have "older" Software on it.
Added pictures taken with DHD and One for comparsion
Sharpness 0 and -2

One:
As you can see, HTC One makes muuuuch better pictures
Wow, perfect !
Still, I don't get it why people say that pictures look better at -2 sharpness. This 0 sharpness pic looks totally fine !
Say, you wouldn't happen to have a window nearby in order to take a picture of the outside, with the same settings ? (0 & -2 ) If that's not too asking too much of course  :good:
Well i have no idea, why people say that.
Also i took this picture purposely, so you can see text to compare sharpness.
As you can see sharpness 0 is way better.
Even if it is not that sharp at all, it was cold and battery was to empty for flash light.

Hey thanks a lot. Very nice details for a 4mp camera at sharpness 0.
I can see the picture is a bit blurry on the bottom right, but that might just be the focus who went a bit crazy on that particular picture :cyclops::good:
Thanks a lot.
Well i think it was because i wasn't holding camera in position, as i said it was cold

How to use flash without major whiteout?

For some reason I can't make a reasonable looking picture when using the flash. Everything looks massively over exposed. Anyone else have this problem or is it the way I'm incorrectly using the flash?

This picture is in total dark.. I'm in temasek v8 rom with google Camera.
This is a room that has very little lighting.
In the same room but this one looks okay?
If you have a case on the phone, try taking the same picture with the case off.
Well, it's a bright flash, so some adjustment in the camera settings might help. I sometimes post-process egregious pictures from any source, but this seems acceptable (i.e., same setup, one shot is without flash and the other with flash).

Sort of: I meant that it might be that way for some shots, depending on the environment - so, perhaps checking the camera settings would be helpful.
I agree it shouldn't be overexposed in every flash shot, but in my example shown, do you feel that quick flash shot vs the non-flash shot looks as overexposed as yours?
- ooofest
Looks half decent to me....maybe slightly overexposed. If you could take a shot in total darkness with flash I would like to compare.
