i would like to play avi movies on my diamond.
i used tcpmp before, but that is a little outdated.
so 2 questions:
- is there a codecpack to play avi in mediaplayer
- if not what player are you using (free Player!!) that plays avi's
there is a similar thread, but that discusses playback speeds. i want to know which player and where to get it.
edit: tried tcpmp. this crashes.

I've searched around in the forums and the wiki and can't find a codec to play videos encoded to avi in Windows Media. I installed wmvcodec.dll, and the video will sort of play in TCPMP, but it's seriously choppy. And WM still says it's unsupported. Is there any plugin for Windows Media player?

I use the Core player and it plays avi format flawlessly.
There is a setting in TCPMP, I think its in options, its called Raw Frame Buffer, enable this and it should work. Hope this helps.
Which is the best player to watch movies with lots of codecs?
unfortunately we are out of luck...
i have yet to find a player that will play divx .avi files right off the bat.
the work around (that probably works 100% of the time) is converting your video to another format...
never tried it though.
So maybe u can recommend player which u use?
There's an app called xyflash or something similar which will play DivX files but not particularly well yet, still needs optimization.
I'd strongly recommend converting on your PC using DoubleTwist or Handbrake and use the inbuilt video player or Meridian which is an mp3 player which also plays videos but keep in mind that almost every video player available on android at the moment just sits ontop of the inbuilt video player.
Hi guy's im looking for a FLV player, or better yet a FLV to mp4 converter for my kaiser. I could just as easily convert the flv files on my pc, but im using you tube play and from time to time i find myself downloading the videos as flv's, i cant blue tooth these files to anyone else because of the file format, but having a converter on my kaiser to convert the files there on the spot would be great and then i could just play them in windows media player and share them easily,i had tried using TCMP and installed the plugins all of them, and still no go with getting them to play, they can play fine in you tube player but you cant forward or go back just pause and play and of course stop, im sure this has quite possibly been asked lots of time's but i cant find the answer. so any help would be greatly appreciated
FLV player
I have the same problem, can't play .flv videos.
Any solutions? Thanks!
Kaiser WM6.5 Shifu 4.2
FLV Player...
Core Player can handle most of the *.flv files , but there is a *flv files with different codec which it can`t... I don`t remember the codec name though...
roko
thanks

I think Youtubeplay also allows you to search videos in a nice friendly Windows Mobile application and then play the full FLV video ( not miniscule MPEG4 versions ) with its own player. This application is written in the mix. net and C so you need a runtime. net, v2. Overlay video player hacked out of TCPMP and FLV part is based on FFMPEG
i have a solution
convert the video by any video converter to flv or mpeg but you have to select the right video size ( 320 x 240 )
I know a lot of ppl use rock player but it was choppy on a lot of videos I was trying to watch
so I looked for a new player and found mvideoplayer and played a 720p 1.38gb mkv file and it played super smooth
just thought I'd let ppl know
Just tried it out. It wont play ac3 sound on my mkvs.
i have a few players installed and mvideoplayer is one of them. i also have rock player installed because there are certain files that mvideoplayer will not play, but rock player does. also i'm guessing that 720p mkv file you played was not encoded in High profile because otherwise it would not be smooth.
I have tried rockplayer and the main few ones on the market..but nothing seems to be playing avi files...
can anyone recommend an app?
I've played DVD-quality AVIs with MoboPlayer and MXVideoPlayer without any problems...
Download Seaman player from the market.... plays many formats without any problem....
after switching from windows to androids i searched for the best video player these were my results.
1.Vital player
2.Vplayer
3.Rockplayer
4.Best Video Player
Vlc Player-Needs testing
Mobo-Needs Testing
RockPlayer hasn't let me down yet.
Rockplayer works fine for AVI files for me too. It does struggle with high quality MP4's & MKV's but never had a problem with AVI's.
i use moboplayer and it really work wonders
try diceplayer
My nexsus-1 ( patched libOmxVdec.so )
can play 720p H.264 [email protected] + DTS MKV file.
I've tested many of those Video/Mediaplayers and I recommend Rockplayer.
Market-Link: Rockplayer Lite (fully functional with ads)
Homepage: Rockplayer.com (No ads, USD 9.99$)
Patched libOMXVdec.so will give you upgraded H.264 decoding power.
see this thread

Rock/Mobo/VPlayer drains too much battery.
Diceplayer can use HW Video decoder at various containers and audio codec combinations.
it can player 720p H.264+DTS MKV ( [email protected] )
