You need to change the Following Registry Value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel
Value = PressureThreshold
Change from the default dword:00000027
or 34.
to dword:000000f0
or 240 in decimal.
This is drastic improvment.
Enjoy,
Nadavi.
Nadavi, my value is 34 not 000000027?
How come?
What exacly improves?
Do you meen if you press some thing that you have to press less hard before it accepts it as a press???
Seems to make things smoother !
is this only for the diamond??? i know that its a diamond thread but can this work on a Touch?? my pressure threshold is 21977

nevermind... my mistake
Nadavi, thanks for clearing that up.
Awesome.
Thanks heaps,
Helps overcome the slight lack of sensitivity when using the included screen protector.
Now I get less accidental 'clicks' into my contacts when just trying to flick thru them.
Cheers,
ccg
In my TD there is only a string key, not a dword key.
So I changed the string name to "PressureThreshold Original". If the comming change is not working then you can easely change it to the original situation.
So I made a new dword key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold\
to dword: 240 in decimal.
And it works. Indeed better performance.
But now my question is; wat is the string doing with value 60... Iny ideas?
Does increasing the number make it more sensitive or less sensitive? I'm having trouble pressing the OK in the corner of the screen - is my screen faulty or "too used" or can this fix it?
gracias ..

got kaiser 2 weeks ago, overall great phone but it is a little slow.
particulary when oppening the keypad, it takes about 5+ seconds to change to landscape mode. and when it does it still slow (slow responce, particulary from keyboard) for another 10-15 sec.
is there any solution to this problem?
thanks
Thats indeed strange, mines responses instantly.
have u tried increasing font, glyph caches? That may help a lot!
FYI (experiment with numbers to get your own best results)
This stuff is included in kaiser tweak, but you really cant modify the numbers to your own!
Increase font cache
To increase the font cache, speeding up font rendering at the cost of a bit of memory:
HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 (DWORD decimal)
To change it back to the default:
HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 8192 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like
Enable FileSystem cache
To enable the FileSystem cache, speeding up overall performance at the risk of the cache not being written on a sudden reset:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 1 (DWORD decimal)
To disable again:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Note that by default, the cache size is zero, and you will see no effect. See "Increase FileSystem cache" to incease the cache size
Increase FileSystem cache
To increase the file system cache:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
To return the file system cache to zero:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like
Increase FileSystem filter cache
To enable the file system filter cache, speeding up overall performance with file mangement:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\ReplStoreCacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
To return the file system filter cache to zero:
HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\ReplStoreCacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)
You can set the value to pretty much anything you like
hmm, i actually have those tweeks enabled, and have not noticed any change in performance of landscape mode.
what ROM do you have on your kaiser? if it's standard then which by which company?
i have UK vodafone one.
Today plugins
Have you installed any 3rd party today plugins? More importantly, are they on?
I had (still have, in a way... bear with me) this problem with SPB Diary.
Without it being represented on Today, the reorientation portrait-lanscape-portrait took maybe 2-3 seconds, with keys being immediately responsive. With Diary ON, it's closer to the 30-second mark, and keys remain unresponsive for another 10-15 seconds. GAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
(and this even on a newly-HR'ed machine, mind you)
The problem went away once I started using SBSH Pocket Breeze instead, although it irked me having to buy another app to do the same thing, sigh...
What's funny is that my boss is using the very same incarnation of Kaiser and he has no problems whatsoever with SPB Diary...
So, I say you switch off everything bar HTC Home and try again. If it works well, then start experimenting with plugins, you will identify the culprit.
If it's NOT that... sry, no clue.
Thanks for the suggestion.
just tried disabling all today plugins, didnt do a thing.
it takes exactly 3-3.5 seconds to switch. keys become responsive pretty much instnatly but dont show up on screen for 4 seconds.
i did have spb diary installed but i hated the way it took up most of the screen so i deleted it.
i just need a simple, today/tomorrow meeting list that's all.
will give pocketbreeze a try.
i'm suprised to learn this is not a general prolem, i've seen 3 kaisers and all are slow when you open up the keyboard, but if some people dont have this problem then surely there is a way to fix it.

yup.
use their stuff.
sorry, but CNRM
I got the same problem, 3-4 sec for switchin portrait to landscape or viceversa.
I notice it as I used a PalmOS device previously and everything was almost istantaneous there.
It is really annoying.
Mine has ROM v 1.56.408.5
Any solution / patches?
Original OEM ROMs are known to have a lot of "bloat" installed that can cause overall system lag.
I am running NoThrills WWE based off of the most "official" WM 6.1 ROM to date, and of the 20+ ROMs I've flashed to date, it is the fastest performing ROM by far.
non stock
I'd flash new rom and radio and before installing cabs and changing settings to test the performance besides the normal performance settings and see what that does.
I know this has been covered before (somewhere), but I did a Google search and found nothing but my own post elsewhere. This has been made moot by most newer ROMs, which have this tweak or another built-in to speed up the camera.
I grew tired of having to wait 2.5 seconds or so for a picture to be taken with the Kaiser's camera, so I found the following regkeys and made the appropriate value changes:
Two DWORD values are in HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam. They are, CapKeyDelayTime and EnableCapKeyDelay.
To disable delay of picture being taken, change CapKeyDelayTime to 0 and EnableCapKeyDelay to 0.
CapKeyDelayTime is in milliseconds, so 2500 is 2.5 seconds. Change to your heart's content.
EnableCapKeyDelay is if you want to disable/enable the CapKeyDelayTime without changing its value. Disable/enable at your leisure.
Also of note is the CaptureTimer DWORD, which can be altered to increase or decrease the time the camera waits for timer pictures.
For those who do not have a registry editor, here are some helpful links:
PHM Registry Editor (free), Total Commander (free file explorer w/ registry editor), Resco Explorer 2007 ($29.95, free registry add-on)
A great tip that. i just made the changes and it make the camera almost useable !!
Thanks

CapKeyDelayTime is set to 1500 by default in Dutty's Apr 09 ROM.

I’ve been looking for the same thing as my 2 year old niece will not stay still for long enough. I use sports mode but 640*480 is ok on the phone but it would be nice if it was 1600*1200 or similar so I can print them.
Thank you very much!
it works
Change EnableDateFolder from 0 to 1
Adds date and time stamp to photos AND creates a folder for each day. Great if you're taking many photos as you'll have date time etc when taken. Great for a trip or other similar photos!
Change SportSpeedFast , SportSpeedMed, and SportSpeedSlow to control your burst speeds. Time again is in m-sec, so 125 = .125 seconds.
Change DefBurstCount to the amount of pictures you can take in burst mode.

Yeah, as stated in the first post, most users of newer ROMs don't need to bother with this, as the chefs know what they're doing. The HTC patch doesn't touch these settings, though.
As for an increased size of Sports Mode picture taking, the P7 key under HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\ is the controller of the Sports Mode. I tried setting the size to the same as is under the main picture setting P1, 1024x1748 (see the MainCamCaptSize and MainCamSupportCaptSize), but the camera locked up without saving the first picture. I also tried 768x1024 without luck. Seems it might be a problem with the speed of encoding? I'm not sure.

Do you have the camera set to capture with half-press or full-press? I used to use full and my pictures would take 4-6 seconds to capture. With half-press, my camera snaps within 2 seconds.
Setting to half press and turning off shutter sound made a very big difference in lag time. Just be careful that without the shutter sound you still need to hold camera for a second after the focus locks (brackets turn green).
Changing these reg values made the camera even more responsive. Thanks!

I stopped by the Verizon kiosk today and was playing with their variant of the Elf/Touch and I noticed that the screen is a lot more sensitive to using a finger for navigation (for example, touching the Task Manager or the Signal Indicator brings up the intended menu very reliably, despite their small size). Is this the result of TouchFLO software and is it possible for a Kaiser to operate with the same level of sensitivity?
From what I gathered, TouchFLO only allows for "gestures" to be recognized, usually in order to activate a Cube program. Can someone clarify?
I apologize in advance if this has been covered in another post; searching out an answer is difficult when nearly every ROM includes the word "TouchFLO" in its description.

you can increase the sensitivity of the touch screen by going into advanced config and setting the touchflo sensitivity to a higher number...i have mine set at 5000, the default is like 200, give it a try, i'm fairly certain you'll like it much better.

can someone out there create a scrollwheel app that makes it work for all apps, not just in a couple of apps?
great idea...
nice idea
What do you want to do with scroll wheel?
If you want to scroll the active app you can use your finger.
If you want to zoom in or out that's quite application specific which is not an easy task to do. (Config scrollwheel app for each application differently, maybe.)
Anyway the second one should be a good feature to use.
see & add reg HKLM/Software/HTC/SmartTouch/
you can use scrollwheel to any apps like jog.
Could you maybe give a more precise howto?

The registry there reads:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch]
"Version"="1.00.31096"
"Threshold"=dword:00000008
"FirstThreshold"=dword:00000008
What should be added? I must say I'm a bit skeptic about this...
for example of RescoExplorer
Create key and value, as below
HKLM/Software/HTC/SmartTouch/RescoExplorer
(String Value) ClassName = RESCO_EXPLORER_CLASS
(DWORD Value) Mode = 4
(DWORD Value) WheelCount = 2
reset
you may use scrollwheel at RescoExplorer like jog.
if use other apps, you must know app's class.
RescoPhotoViwer's class = RESCO_PICVIEW_CLASS
InternetExplorer's class = IExplore
File Explorer 's class = FEXPLORE
CorePlayer's class = wCorePlayer
etc...
Dword Value "WheelCount"
1 = Movement of one every 36 degrees
5 = Movement of one every 180 degrees
10 = Movement of one every 360 degrees
Probably, you cannot delete created keys.
To delete it, stop SmartTouch Service.

Hello,
i want to use the led light for an incomming sms more than 5 min. In the setting i´m not able to select the remember box (is not enable) i only can see that the time is set to 5 min.
I want that the led flash for 60 min.
Any ideas ?
Daniel
Daniel, I did manage to find it in the registry, to make it flash "no limit" the value was zero, the default value was 5000 (5000 milliseconds=5 seconds) so the value will be 60000 for 1 hour. My phone is doing a ROM update right now, so I will have to post after I search through the registry again. Try usingt PHM Regedit to search for "Flash" and keep clicking "find next" until you find it. I will post the reg key later.
Hello sasha26
i used TC and i only found two entry with FLASH.
The values are not for the flashing signal (one for camera?)
Daniel
I found the entrys
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notification/{A877......} (one entry for each notification)
if found the duration for new SMS / new MMS .... and more. Set the duration from 5 to 60 - restart.
now in the windows setting the value from 60 is in the field.

but...
when i've an incoming sms the only led lighting is the circular one...
the up led in speaker phone when works?
OKAY this is wierd!
I didnt realize that the Diamond had a LED light!
I have had mine for a week now a didnt discover it was missing!
Can someone post the reg settings for the different values!
AFAIK there is only the circular light around the center button.
I think the "LED" you're referring to is the ambient light sensor next to the speaker?
When I set the duration to 0 - would it light on until I'd read the message?

Hello,
i found several entrys in
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notification/
for each entry in the listbox from "Windows - Settings - Sound - Notification".
I have a German Rom so i don´t know if the numbers in the {} the same as in the US / GB Rom.
But it is easy to find, in the entry you also find the text e.g. "New SMS".
I only set the entry in Duration from 5 to 60. In the Windows-Setting now 60Min appears.
Daniel
Is it possible to make the light be active for more then 60 minutes?
How about 120, or unlimited? (untill you have read the SMS)
Are you sure? I think the battery will not be happy eheheh

Thanks All....
After reading this thread at least six times decided to read again but carefully......
Have seen the light and the keys that needed changing...again many thanks.
Have set to 60
Testing missed call...set to 60.....shows in settings notification
good after 5 min then 30 min ......
will advise if reach 60 min.
has stoped at 50 minutes.....not sure why...
hmm, the right thing to do is to actual unlock this feature like it's meant to be, I wander why they greyed it, possibly they were so paranoid and afraid of battery life so they turned everything they can come for...
so, to sum it up, 0 in settings doesn't work and max available flashing is around 50 min.? For both missed calls and sms's?
EDIT:
Just found it. You have to change AvailableOptions to 12 instead of 11. This will ungray drop down menu just like it should be.
