Hey guys i used to have Duttys old rom back from oct 2007. I configured my Tom Tom and worked great. A month ago i reflashed with a new rom and for some reason TT6 doesnt work anymore.. Weird thing is it tries to connect to internet all the time (it never used to do it before on old rom).
I checked the wicki and used com 4 and com 9. I used baud rate of 4800 and 9600. I tried com 4 and com 9 in external gps (under settings) it doesnt seem to work.
You have to user other NMEA correct? - Thats the only way i get the GPS blinking lights.. it starts to connect to internet.. then says cant establish connection to internet (eventhough 3g is working) and then just stay there (waiting for GPS to aquire lock).
FYI i ran Quick GPS before i started tom tom
Any help appreciate it
What if you use something like google maps. You need to verify that the problem is with Tom tom and not the phone. Easiest way is to get rid of tomtom and see if the gps no workie.
Baud rate
Personnaly I use IGO baud rate something aroud 36000
And it works well
I've try with 4800, nothing ...

Never had it work at 36000 WOW !!
Is 'the accessing the internet' being caused by A-GPS (Assisted GPS) ? This can be disabled.
Note, My TT uses COM4
Isn't this the bug that when you changed some settings with the internal gps (with the kaiser menu not TT btw) you had to hard reset you're Kaiser?
I know I had to do that because of my early rom experiments with GPS. I changed the com4 to com9 and it wouldn't set back.
I'm hoping for you it's not the same..

Hi There
Just trying to get my Internal GPS going. I have read the best port to chose from would be 4 and with 4800 Baud.
However I cannot get the GPS to stick to the settings I give it.
Can someone give me the lowdown as to how to get this
GPS working, the only thing I can think of is that the GPS setup says 'External GPS' which would suggest its looking for a bluetooth pairing, so does that mean the internal GPS does not need setting up, I just have to enter Com4 4800 Baud and the Internal GPS kicks in. Its just that Com 4 isn't available to select from on TT or my other GPS programs.
I have tried setting it up with other Com ports both Hardware and Program but to no avail. the Program Port is fine but my Hardware port still wont stick. ?
Thanks in advance for your help

My Tytn II is working with TT6 on COM 4 and BAUT 9600. This I selected in TT6 under other NMEA GPS. But it also works with the build in option of TT

Has anyone got TomTom 6 up and running with a Vario III?
I just got both of the above today, and from my research on here I understand I got to Change Preferences > Show GPS status > Configure > Other NMEA GPS receiver, then I set the GPS baud rate to 4800 (correct?) and COM port to COM4.
The result is always "No valid GPS signal!".
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Works fine here with the settings above, tried it with baud rate 57600
and that works too Is the orange / red light flickering at the top?
Also try it outside of course!
A CD came with My Kaiser installed TomTom 6 on it added Canada maps works like a charm, quick sat signal, no issues so far working great as I drive
Works for me here. But i always use the "internal GPS device" setting.
Ok. First your tomtom is detecting the internal GPS (So that's good)
(if it was not detectig the GPS receiver you would get a message saying "GPS device not found"
Second, I suggest using a simple application to show you the available satellites - if indeed it is receiving any. Give it plenty time and a clear view of the sky. This is a lot more important the very first time you are trying to receive satellite data. Once you have achieved it once it is a lot faster on the next occasions. I use GPS test as a very small application. It auto detects the ports, needs no difficult setup and all it does is show available satellites. If the app shows a few then tomtom will as well. See here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1582825&postcount=5
By the way, not all versions of tomtom have the option to choose "use internal GPS" as the above poster suggests. If it's there use it but otherwise other NMEA is fine.

I have a very funny problem with the GPS of my Kaiser
ROM: Dutty's Touch
.NET Compact Framework - 3.5.7283.0
I have no problem using Google earth with GPS and it works perfectly.
I even tried using Nav4all and it work pretty good.
But that's it. After this no other GPS software is able to configure GPS on this. I have tried Efficasoft GPS utils, Tracky Pro, Mapking and many others, but they don't seem to work. I have tried using all the COM ports and it doesn't work. On COM7 however it takes a long time to figure it out that it is not working. I even tried all the baud settings.
On trackypro, on com 7 - for a brief interval it says connected and then it says GPS error. Can someone think of something on this.

Same here... and make sure you're selecting the correct type of GPS in the configurations.. eg. in TOMTOM, GPS = other NMEA bluetooth device (or something like that)..

In TomTom it's enough to select Built-in, it detects the GPS correctly (at least in my case)

Interesting.. what version of TOMTOM do you use? I have 6.032 and there is no "Built in" option, so I have to use the one I mentioned...

Hi,
I've a HTC Diamond, UK version with the following rom:
1.35.401.3 WWE
30-05-2008
0.93.25.NS26
52.26.25.09H
I've try install different versions of tomtom, actually the 6.32, but impossible to detect the integrated gps... I've only bluetooth, wired and Others NMEA...
I've try all Bauds settings possibles on NMEA but noone work...
Any solution plz? I've 1 day for decide if I buy this Diamond for replace my Touch Cruise or not... And i want be sure the GPS is working...
Plz if you know, say me how can i have this gps working with tomtom...
Maybe an other rom? If yes wich? Or a special version of TomTom? Or any fix?
choose: other nmea gps
COM 4
baudrate works with 9600
(other may also work)
then you need to have "waiting for gps signal" in gps status
grtz
I can't chose the port... Only the baud rate...
And i have "not gps device found" always
i use 6.030.
in other postst you can find more information about used versions
I've try this version too but same problem... any idea?
you can check the settings from you internal gps receiver.
settings->external gps
you find there 3 pages with settings(com port etc)
yes
Programs: Ports: COM 4
Hardware: Port: None, Baud rate: 4800
But if i change anything, i click ok and come back, it is back to default value... I can't set 9600 Baud or other value... if i click ok and enter again in external GPS options, it's back to 4800...
This mobile does really have GPS??? I'ts not writed in the box and in the manual too... I see nothing about GPS... The manual is very little and the box is a "diamond looking box"...

offcourse it has gps. everybody is using it.
you do not need to change the settings in extarnal gps.
just open up tomtom, choose other nmea gps, 4800 baud and com 4.
i have tomtom 6.010 (i do not know what the newer versions have different)
and it works very good.
Strange because nothing say in the box or manual that it got gps... And it's not detected by tomtom...
Any idea??? Tommorow i have to give the diamond back or keep it so i've to decide today... And i want a mobile with gps working...

But google maps need to connect via gprs someitmes and that isn't totally free... I want a totally free use gps... Not a "net depending" gps...

just for testing purposes!!
or use this program

install it, and it will look for your gps unit.
it will be installed under programs > gps test
Lol don't ask me how and why but i've hard reset the phone and reinstall tomtom, and now i've the choice of port and baud... I've chose 4800 baud and port com 4 and it works... lol
[ironic mode ON]So it seems like Diamond has GPS although it is not writen in the box...[/ironic mode OFF]
Bye
I have to say I was dubious when reading the specs too, as they say 'GPS and A-GPS Ready' - which normally leads you to believe that you need another bit of kit to use them.
Then I found confirmation - and was happy to order the phone.
QuickGPS
I order to get a good working signal start the program QuickGPS, download in this program the latest gps file from server.
Start Tom-Tom and use the settings mention above:
choose other nmea gps,
4800 baud and
com 4.
Be sure to stay outside free to air and you get your signal in about 30 to 45 seconds.

And that's all. good explanation. i did the same and working. But why doesn't detect integrated antena like kaiser? any answer...
Do you guys have the following problem?
When I open the settings of the gps, inside the phone's settings, I try to change the settings, but when I press "ok" it doesn't save the changes. For example, if I change the baud rate from 4800 to 33600 and press ok, if I immediatly open it again, the setting goes back to 4800 again.
This happens also if I change the COM port from "none" to other.
Having "Manage GPS automatically" under "Access" tab activated or not, doesn't make a diference.
Bye
Hi all, yesterday i've changed the "external gps settings":
COM8 For virtual GPS port and COM 4 as Hardware GPS port, baud 9600.
Today i was using my GPS the first time after the settings descripted before...
The GPS Works, but at regular intervals of 2 sec, then stops for 10 sec (No GPS Found with Tomtom) and works again.....
Now i have 3 questions:
1) Can i solve this WITHOUT an Hard Reset??
2) If i disable the Virtual com port, tomtom DON'T let me choose another COMport (it skips the Comport configuration page) and, when it allows me to select the right port, the COM4 isn't there
3) There are A LOT of comport into "External GPS Settings", some starting with COM..X and others ports named GPD..X ..... What type of ports are??
(Ps: i have already installed tomtom again)
Did you try to disable AGPS?
I have only seen this problem when AGPS is enabled (via advanced config) too
Also the defualt GPS COM ports is 4 and baud rate of 4800 (should be no need to change this) and why mess with external GPS settings when the device has internal GPS?
I have same problem on iGO8 with AGPS enabled.
You guys are right! The A-GPS was ON (strange, i don't remember i've activated it)
If i play with the external gps app is because i would to share the same com port to 2 gps apps.....
BTW when i set the com4 in Hardware port, reopening the app it disappear.
Now i have Agps disabled, External gps app "void" and tomtom don't let me choose the comport (it switch from baud speed to mainscreen)
Hmm, I had no problem at all using GPS at standard settings for:
Igo
TrackMe
GoogleMaps
at the same time!

diamond has disabled agps out of the box.
Hmmm I had no problems the first couple of times I tried iGo when I first got the device. Then I tweaked it, enabled AGPS and all hell broke loose (presumably due to this setting, though not 100% sure since I changed lots of things). Disabled it on my own, trying to back-track, now it's better but I still got problems with GPS lost...
By the way, is there any use setting COM4 to high speeds? Does it reall improve performance?
I had the same problem after flashing the actual rom build from HTC club. I am currently sticking to this one in italian and no problem at all.
P.S.: Just noticed you're from my same city
All ok now, i suppose that if we leave blank the GPS port (no HW port) into first COM screen of external gps app, tomtom skip the comport settings screen, and don't allow you to choose another one.
I've Hardresetted my pda yesterday, and i've seen that out of the box, the diamond has COM4 selected by default.
I don't want to change anything now (i have no time in those days to do another Hard reset) BUT, if you have problems regarding the GPS COM Settings screen in tomtom, try to set the COM4 into GPS PORT (not hardware port) of the "External Gps" app.
hello everyone
i have the same problem of signal GPS lost and coming back after a few minutes of use (i use IGO 8), then lose again, then back again, and so on.
I installed the new flash rom from HTC eclub, (QMR-RUU_Diamond_HTC_FRA_1.93.406.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe)
Even if i disable the a-gps using advance config, the problem is still there.
Do you think that problem comes from that new HTC ROM ?
Any solutions?
NO... I had the same problem on old ROM very rarely and solved with Quick GPS , I will see if the problem persist on new ROM...
I had this disconnecting problem too with Tomtom 7,
now with Bepe 0.98 and radio Radio v1.00.25.07, all is OK, no disconnect at all this morning ( 2 hours of GPS use ).
But I don't know what resolve the problem, Bepe's ROM or the new .07 radio

Never mind the setting. Is AGPS disabled?
yes its disabled...
A bit strange, mine works perfectly with iGo, it even updates the position (almost) continuously when in pedestrian mode.
Perhaps you could try an auto detect from your GPS program to reset the link. By the way, what soft are you using?
well im using garmin xt and navigon...garmin display that the program and hardware is com:4
thank u for being patient with me....
I know Garmin works on the Diamond, so I'm running out of ideas... I remember reading that some VOIP programs screw the GPS. Did you install any such program?
If not, what I would do is back up my contacts and calendar and do a hard reset to see if this solves the problem. A bit painful, but will certainly answer the question whether there is something wrong with your hardware or not.
well.. i have changed the rom to karmba version, and it works fine for the last 6 hours..
gps functioning well.
may be the fault was in my previous rom (SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-ROM-v5-5-Lite)
thank you very much for your help
