ROM Upgrade -> Vendor ID Error

Hello! I've tried to change the language on my mda compact2(bought from Austria) from German to English but while installing the T-Mobile 2.6.2.110 UK ROM "Vendor ID error" appears. What should i do? I hope you have solution for my problem thanks

Extract the Rom file to a folder on your pc.
than download this file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=30778&d=1160429997 and Extract it into the Rom folder.
than connect your charmer to pc and double click on "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe".
that should do the trick.

This archive says that the file is corrupted Anyway, i found some posts of Ulymanchild who had the same problem as me so here is his solution:
1.Down load HTC_Charmer _upgradeut_noid
2.http://www.windowsceportal.hu/tartalom/programok/htc_charmer_upgradeut_noid.zip
3.Download Any Charmer ROM Utility.
4.Extract nk.nbf from the Charmer ROM Utility.
5.Place nk.nbf to the HTC_Charmer upgradeut_noid.
6.Get the upgrade with no ID Errors.
7.GOT TO LOVE IT!
Unfortunately, i can't do

to get the nk.nbf, just open the executable rom package in winRAR

3. Download Charmer ROM from here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Charmer/Shipped_ROMs/
4. Right click on the file you just downloaded and Extract to an empty folder on your desktop (you will find in that folder the nk.nbf you are looking for).
5. make sure your phone is connected to pc via activesync, copy the file I attached to this post (ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe) in to this folder, and double click on it.
That should do the job.

Well, I want to upgrade my rom on htc charmer too. I understand how to, but I have the newest Czech WM5 in only-setup-file rom, how can I extract this ? Or I need only the RARed or ziped roms, so the setup files of roms are unusable ? thanks for help

When you right click on the setup file, do you have the extract option?

Hi, i can't make upgrade of my charmer. I do all steps that you say and romupdate program says that hi can't open the requested file (error 208). Any ideas?

Please help me! I have the WM6.1 ROM made by vlodeck and nocturne on my MDA Compact II.
I want to downgrade to WM5. With shipped roms i can't, coz i get Vendor ID error ofcz. If i wanna use the Charmer AKU2 upgrade, then it says, that i need another updater (error no.: 300). If i use the noid one, then it says something about missing files, and tells me to re-download the updater. I did it but it still says the same. Please help me, its very important. Thx : andor44

Hi!
I think there is no hardspl for Charmer.You can CID unlock it easily with lokiwiz02,if your IPL,SPL is V1 or V2(f.e.:2.26).
Post the error code with noid or post a screenshot.

After installing AKU3.3 you can't downgrade to AKU2.

Hi!
Weird,because cooked ROMs usually can't be installed on CID locked devices.
Try to CID unlock it with lokiwiz02,then retry upgrade with AKU2.
Post IPL,SPL!

I have CID unlocked it before installed WM6.1... But it doesn't matter anymore. A user called 'rmagyar' solved my problem in PM.

Well i don't know the exact source of the problem . I'll upload a proper fix-kit for people who messes up something...

Charmer stuck in bootscreen.

Hi,
My charmer is stuck at the bootscreen after trying to flash the charmer_touch rom. First I did a cid unlock and then the update. It finished without errors.
Then I flashed the official AKU3 update from tmobile (because the charmer is tmobile germany branded). Flashed without problems (in bootloader mode) but then the same problem! Even with the AKU 2.x update.
When trying to hardreset I only get "format error".
What can I do?

Yeah, thanks. How can I integrate it in the RUU package? Because when I unpack the update and start it from somewhere of my HDD it won't work! Where is the standard directory to run it from?

you should place it in the same folder where the contents of the RUU were unpacked

The problem is, that I cant see/decide where the RUU is unpacking itself. When it unpacks and waits for my input, I tryed searching for the files that were unpacked, but no luck! Strange.

So, nevermind the previous problem with paths... figured it out (path was too long)
My new problem:
Updated with the no-id ruu but still format error what now?
Worked fine with prophet rom. CLOSED.

after hard reset i get format failed
what can i do??

i fix it
i get unlock code from imei-check
then CID unlock
and then i make sd card backup with MTTY_updateROM.exe
after next start it copy all back to the mda and now its all ok
and now format works

Error 244 when trying to install RUU rom :confused:

Hi guys, I have an HTC wing and so far all the official RUU images I have give me that error message when trying to install them, currently have the Touch IT v 2.xxx
IPL and SPL are both higher than 4

i think u need to do hardSPL first. Then you can flash *ANY* suitable flash

then the error is that I got a Wing device and the update tool is looking for a Herald, anyone knows where can I get a RUU image for my Wing?

if you want to reflash an official rom, choose the appropriate rom from the xdadevs ftp site
if you want to flash a custom rom, use either USPL or HardSPL. look in the "Herald Mobile 6" or "Herald Rom Development" forums

is there a problem installing original GPS enabled ROM over cooked ones??

I have an HTC P3600 from france (Originally with SFR then deblocked and serial was accepted at HTC site for update) working with english Ausdim ROM and SPL 9.99-CF and i would like to try the original french ROM i downloaded from HTC site or the original english ROM from HTC wiki.
Would that cause a problem or reblock the CIF or block install of any modded ROM later
also if i try the DOPOD original ROM would it cause same problems or not??

Since nobody answered and I actually tried it
YES it is possible to downgrade from cooked roms to original version but always use SSPL as recommended by trinityguides.info and it will propably revert your SPL & radio version to original But not CID as I have seen.
But you have to install Hard-SPL again before installing a cooked rom.
Sometimes just installing the original rom can unbrick the phone stuck at boot screen even if failed to complete but of course this is not done using SSPL so i dont assume it is that safe

HTC Diamond ROM upgrade

Hello All,
I am living in israel and I bought HTC Diamond unlocked from US about 2 weeks ago, when i enter phone S/N in order to download ROM upgrade I get a message: "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device. " so I try to enter different S/N and finaly succeed to download: RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
I tried to upgrade but I get a message: "this upgrade utility cannot be used for your pda phone"
why? does anyone had such a problem?

hello dude,
You will need to flash HardSPL first, to flash the rom.
or get the CID unlocked.
Search this site it has all the answers you need.
if you can post the seril number you used to download the rom, here so we can use it to down load roms that would be great.

With regards to attempting an upgrade using the recently released "official ROM" from the HTC website, am I correct in thinking the following:
* With a HTC Touch Diamond on Orange UK, I only need to use the SIGNED HardSPL because the phone is locked but the ROM offered on the HTC website is from HTC itself and therefore signed??
* With just this offical ROM, does the "Radio" also needed to be updated separately somehow? Or if I don't want/need to change the radio on my Diamond, then I just install the ROM update only?

In addition, I finaly take a risk and upgraded that HardSPL - it is 1.30 Olinex instead of 1.40. (I still don't understand why?)
The problem is that I tried to upgrade 3 different 1.93 ROM but every one of them don't really working it's stuck on 0% and after ~5 min I get Error 264.
Does anyone had such an Error?

Finally I succeeded to upgrade the ROM. (1.93.401.2 WWE)
The problem was that I tried to upgrade it with singed HardSPL (that is why it was 1.30 ver instead of 1.40).
Newbie life isn't so easy
