[rlToday Skins] Serene, Cityscape, and Stein - minimalistic skins Aug 31, 2008

Simple minimalistic skins. I will probably make 4 or 5 then update them.

It is made for QVGA 240x320, but I will be making VGA versions later on.
By default the buttons are laid out so:
Serene:
Home=Phone
Chat bubble=SMS
Applications Icon=File Explorer
Cloud=iContact
Cityscape:
Left girl=Phone and Missed calls
Space guy=icontact
Grey girl=File Explorer
Right guy= SMS
Stein:
Head=icontact
Right bubble=phone
Left bubble=sms
Clock bubble=file explorer
Just edit the skin.xml to change the programs and paths. In order for it to work right you must remove the softkey bar from the bottom of your screen.

Installation:
Download and Install rlToday > http://rotlaus-software.de/download-manager.php?id=13
Download and Install PMC TodayShrink > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342837
Edit skin.xml to your liking
Copy the the skin folder to Program Files > rlToday
Copy the Font to Windows > Fonts
Activate the rlToday plugin
Apply bg.png as your today screen background
Hold down on the today screen and click options
Choose the skin you downloaded as your skin
If everything was done right you should have it working.
Any requests or questions feel free to pm me.
To Do:
Add optional email notification
Add optional tabs (not sure yet, I really wanted to keep it simple as could be)
VGA Version
Maybe change today plugins to throttle or ul probably wont unless I am aching for some gesture support.

Nice..but if you say this skin is created for QVGA users it would be better if you use HTC Touch which is QVGA device..since Diamond is VGA

I honestly didn't even think about that . I just loaded up a Diamond template I had on my computer to see what my concept would look like with a phone around it.

I added it to my main post. I simply found a high res render of the diamond from google images. Then I edited it to my liking. Enjoy!

Looks were my main thing I was going for, these were just skins for my personal phone and I decided to share them. I usually try to make one everyday I am off from work (which is very few days if that). I prefer minimalism over functionality, but I am working on tabbed versions that have app, weather, and calender pages. I look at my phone hundreds of times a day and I wanted something that was nice on the eyes.

Open skin.xml in notepad and edit the Y position of the clock. You would have to use another background otherwise you would have an empty black bar through the screen.

A new theme I made whilst pretty bored lol My first please bare in mind!! Hope you guys like it.
This theme was made for my Touch Diamond so some shortcuts/buttons may not function correctly depending on your phone.
This can be fixed by click-holding and correcting the target yourself.
Requirements:
- Wisbar Advance Desktop 2
- Mortscript (located at the bottom)
Instructions:
Make sure you have Wisbar Advance Desktop installed first.
Install the Simplicity.zip contents inside \Program Files\Lakeridge\Wisbar Advance Desktop\Theme folder.
followed by Simplicity Plugin.cab and Mortscript.cab.
Open WAD2 Settings, and scan for new themes.
Simple
Known Issues:
The Notifier for SMS does not clear when reading sms in the Messages Tab.
This is a scripting problem with the program and not the skin itself and thus i cannot do much about.
Feel free to tweak or edit as you wish

WAD appears to not like cab installing the theme to the target location. Manual install seems to work fine for me.

still produces errors. get a black screen and grey squares as buttons which result in white pages...

yes i did. and the htc volume is destroyed as well on my diamond. got the old one from my kaiser days...

sorry about this, im not even sure whats going on. all i did was copy the themes folder over and zip it up?
i've uninstalled my WAD, uninstalled all linked items to try start new like everyone else is.

Dude, all your images are pointing to a folder. You need to Export the theme!!

Another vote for a QVGA version.

problem is you didnt include the images with the theme. on your phone they are in internal storage/my documents/themes/ etc etc or somthing like that. we need atleast the images folder so we can put it in the correct place on our phone so it works like yours

Winterface 2.0 is out. My skin Googleface is available for download from VITO's website, along with several other skins. Unfortunately, VITO went with my first version I sent them and ignored the second.
So here it is:

Installation:
Run the cab file from your device and install where Winterface is loaded on your phone. Go to options, skins, ouila!

Hi there - I'd really like to have a go at customising my own Winterface now that I've upgraded to 2.02.
How do you package the files (particularly the icons)? I can't find any information anywhere and VITO seem intent on keeping it a big secret.

Skinning it actually very simple, but good lord, it would be complicated to explain.
Basically, take a bmp like the one in the screenshot. When you save, and this is VITAL, it needs to be saved as 16-bit, R5 G6 B5.
Now, the EASIEST thing to do is to simply replace over a same named file on your phone, i.e., build your icon set on the icons.bmp and replace it with your new set.
If you want it as a separate theme, you're going to need a hex editor to edit the skin file and a cab builder if you wish to share it.
Any other questions, feel free to ask.

No. Actually, I just copied the URL link to whoever did the original on DeviantArt. The version on my phone is exactly the version you see here.

Just installed the latest version of Winterface and using the googleface skin
just about to try your heroface skin.
When i add applications they obvoiusly show with their default icon, is it possible to edit the icon and replace with something that matches the skin set?

Can I use the cab files/skins for Winterface 2.0 to install them in Winterface 1.3? I mean, WF 1.3 is able to cope with different skins. Should I somehow extract the files from the cab and then copy to bin? I tried, but even when just renaming the files to e.g. lynx.skin, lynx.bmp and lynx_icons.bmp doesn't work. I know this should be possible somehow, but I don't know much about cab files, etc.

Well until now i don't know if there is any other mobile shell except winterface for wm2003se, but it is great and has that iPhone spirit in it, so I've tied to make it much cooler and more like iPhone so here is the icon set which will make your sms camera contacts file explore running menu calc pictures phone email iexplore wmp notes find and the calender
(well the cal is up side down and red&black not white)

i tied as you said a hex editor but i did not know anything :S i was shocked i dont really know what is the heck is hex thing (except that one in the windows registry) could you explain to me how to add a background for my little icon set plz!!!!!!!!! plz!!!!!!!

Then selected .tsk in setting today and all menu are in black but with small menu like in 6.1.
I try to make a cab with all your files and it's the same: small menu.
So don't work for me in WVGA, theme delete and back on another one.

But I'm missing a button. When displaying emails, I don't see the button for the "Options".
When I click on the black region ob the taskbar right next to the keyboard icon, the menu opens, but there is no Icon. Is this a feature ;-) or am I missing a file?
Anyone else with this behaviour?

I just installed your theme and it looks great, but on some screens, what I'm typing does not appear. It almost looks as if i'm typing with white lettering on a white background. Is there anyway to fix this?

[PRJ-REQ] Tatanium theme: Winmo 7

Hi all,
I saw the winmo 7 video other day in youtube. It looks great but it was like a dejavu for me. I have sony erricsson Xperia X1, in that we have a panel called Media experience, it is more or less the same as new winmo interface. (for those who haven't seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEQt8tGUuYg )
The only differences are that instead of txt showing you where you are (each time you get in a folder the name of the txt goes on top, that way you know where you are) in Media experience it shows you an icon

notice the icon on the right ( music icon) indicates that you are in music player. Oh yeah and unlike winmo7 it is in the left side. The thing that this is missing is the clock on the background (i photoshoped it) and the weather widget.
HTC UI is great but it also slows down the phone, that's why I prefer titanium. I was wondering if somebody could figure out a way to put a clock and weather widget with it. Some other pics,

That theme concept looks gorgeous. It's a brilliantly huge improvement over the default Titanium. However, it reminds me of the SE media manager. But nevermind that.
The clock on the top right corner looks ugly - it's doesn't blend well within the theme. I suggest that a plain text clock in the background should be implemented to give the theme a minimalistic and elegant look. I've worked up on the image to show you what I mean.
The menus should also have some transparency so the background and the clock are visible.

i think it's better the clock on the background but the icon only the bigger at the center end take away the little one at the left!

d3thstalker your picture looks exactly what I was thinking. I did a quick paintbrush work so it looks awefool. But yeah this is what I was talking about, how though

It would be really awesome if someone could develop this for us. I have no background in developing anything or whatsoever. However, I'd like to extend my help to wherever I can.
EDIT: Perhaps if someone could post links to guides or tutorials on editing the Titanium menu, I can try something.

Ok I just sent it to you. I looked at the tutorial too, when I opened the bronzess.dll in PE explorer I see lots of icons, starting with the number of 2000 to 4000. I can guess how to change the icons, but I dont understand how can I change the system of how icons are being shown. I mean in "Media Experience Panel" when you tap on something it goes to the left side. How do make that happen? Anyway I dont know anything about programming.
Hope somebody comes up with a solution.

I understand the link between the registery, the bronzeres.dll and the way the icon are displayed. However, I still don't understand how to shift the icons to the left side. I think that has something to do with Titanium_240x320.cpr.
I don't think that it's possible to make the icons shift to the left upon clicking them because I have never seen that in a theme. I think that would require the Titanium code to be re-written or something, which is beyond me.
EDIT: This modding of titanium is too hard for me, I don't understand several aspects of it. I am letting go of it here.
