Little problem - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello All,
I have just bought second Diamond, but I have a little problem with it. Device has a label on the box "English Version" and blue round label "Synergy". That is not a problem, but I can't register it on www.htc.com! When I try to put serial number message appears: "No HTC branded Device". Where is the problem? Can I do something with it?
It is important for me, because I have bought it as "brand new without simlock etc.)
P.S. Device has no operator sign (no Orange etc. logo)
Best Regards,
TomekJ

Does it have synergy software on it?
Does your serial number start with 'HT'??

Yes, my serial number starts HT.....

I have additional software on CD - SPB GPRS monitor, Cyberon Dictionary and WorldCard. Seller write me that "this is official and direct distribution from HTC" Can someone explain me this? I have also found address: www.asia.htc.com/HTC_HKEN/member/login.aspx where I can register. Is Synergy somehow connected with HTC? Can seller say that Synergy labelled device is from official and direct import? If answer is "yes", why HTC disable registration via official htc.com site?
Best regards,
TomekJ

Bluetooth Files from I-mate for PDA2K - DISREGARD

I received these today from I-mate, after I called customer care about Bluetooth problems.
They advised me to try these files, they e-mailed them to me. I don't know what's in them or anything at this point, figured I would get them up first so others can access them.
They mentioned the files were available from www.bluetooth.jazzpel.es I tried accessing this site but it doesn't appear to exist or is offline.
Let the experimenting begin...
Can you post them here, please.
They are posted, you may need to register your account to see them.
Both files are Pocket Bluetooth Tools, v1012 and v1100.
It appears these aren't driver updates, but an application.
Also, the web address they have is wrong, it should be: www.bluetooth.jazztel.es.
The tool is also for the Microsoft stack, which the PDA2K doesn't use. Looks like the tool is useless.
Sorry everyone!
Those are not for Blue Angel, but for the Himalaya
i extracted those files and checked to install!
it for the MS Bluetooth programs for Himalaya.

Does anybody know how to develop OTA script. any informatiom

Hi
I am after a piece of script that send as SMS, and execute on HTC or any another handheld device which then configure lets say, your GPRS setting for you. obviocelly you need to tell your network provider and your mobile number. Nokia has this free service on their website. which works like a wizard, first you need to select your country and next screen you need to select your phone mobel etc...
have you done this before? any information will be appricaited.

New WinMob Device, Old Software?

The Kaiser will be my second Win Mob device (8525 is what I am currently using).
I wonder what is the general experience with moving purchased applications to the new device.
Does a new IMEI create no barriers to continued use?
Are software houses amenable to issuing new reg codes for the apps you have purchased?
Does this mean re-purchasing all the apps that I have come to count on each day?
Err, most paid software comes with this thing called activation key...
and of those, most of them are keys generated through the owners' name.
(You can tell this if it displays the owners name on the registration file).
FYI: Activation keys will change if it is not the same version. So if you backuped your cabs and have your keys, then there should be no issue into installing it on another ppc.
I bought resco explorer 2005 a while ago. It works on my friends ppc and mine, while under the same name.
Well, Yeah.
I referred to "activation key" as "reg(istration) code."
However, some apps, like Opera are locked to the IMEI and you need a new reg code.
I was wondering what issues folks had had with apps where the reg code is linked to the electronic serial number (IMEI) of the device.

HTC Kaiser / Vodafone v1615 - Vodafone live access

Folks,
Used to have a HTC Universal (Vodafone v1640) that I never got working with Vodafone Live in the UK. Now have a v1615 (Kaiser) and wondering if this device can be made to work and access Vodafone Live.
I'm fairly technically literate (though not an expert!) and have to admit to getting a touch lost on a couple of things I've read on various websites. Not to sure how to change registry settings on my machine, but no probs learning, and very familiar with all the standard wap settings etc required.
My v1640 used to just hang if i pointed it to "www.live.vodafone.com", my Kaiser will now access the site but gives the following error in Explorer:
"Unable to determine IP address from host name for www.live.vodafone.com
The dnsserver returned:
Name error: The domain name does not exist.
This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL. Check if the address is correct"
I never got this error message on the 1640 - it just sat there and did nothing. So i'm wondering if this is any further progress or not? Or are these HTC devices (as Vodafone confirmed today) just not meant to connect to Live without serious tweaking.
I am more than happy to have a hack at my machine but am slightly lost at where to start here in order to achieve this on my brand new device for which there still doesn't seem to be much info.
Have Vodafone got this device almost ready to access Live? Or is one of the posts i've seen somewhere just a fantasy?!
All I really need is just a basic guide going through it with this new device.
Can't believe Vodafone don't have this working in the first place...
Thanks.
Isn't it live.vodafone.com rather than www.live.vodafone.com?
yes, and you need some proxy settings as well to use it. the only way I got Live.vodafone.com to work was by adding it as a modem connection under my work network if you are looking to use it as a data plan only and it will only work with EAS and PIE, no VOIP or messenger will work. As for using the vodafone live site, you need to change some regkey settings that will fool the the vodafone proxy to think that you have an approved handset for vodafone live, you should find examples in this forum if you search around, I think Modaco also has some entries on this. Bottom line is that Vodafone never intended to let it be used with PPC, because once they loose that control they cannot sell their services, advertise etc which is why it's a relatively useless solution for anyone who use their offer of 500 MB for 10 Eur or something along those lines.
Cheers
LBN
Thanks guys. Yes - it is just live.vodafone.com - was too busy with work...
Ok, starting to get an idea of what needs to be done. Have seen so many posts on various websites that I wasn't quite sure where to start.
I'm guessing that changing the regkey settings is the first thing to try then? Is there an easy to use registry tweaking tool?
Been messing around for a while now and nothing I do seems to make any difference!
I've tried all kinds of different Reg Key settings, every combination of wap and internet access points, and nothing seems to change anything.
Basically no matter what i enter, (either wsp://live.vodafone.com or http://live.vodafone.com) it only connects through a wap connection, and it only brings up a very basic vodafoneLive series of text based web pages with no access to anything interesting.
Do WM6 devices such as mine have different Reg Key settings / areas that need modifying? I'm surprised that putting Nokia settings in, or any other setting has no effect at all!
Anyone??
The vodafone live portal requires a "template" to be present at the vodafone end which defines which screen size and content the device can handle. Unless Vodafone have created one for the v1615, you will need to alter the useragent to look like a device which does have a template...
Without a devices presenting its self as a supported device, you will not be able to access live services.
Why not look at the user agent of the Treo 500v? That is the frist real consumer WM device which has the ability to view the live portal.
Gotcha. Makes sense, thanks for the tip.
Any idea where to find details of a Treo 500v user agent?? Will give it a go if I know where to find one!
Hi,
Take a look at
http://www.modaco.com/Vodafone-Live-Settings-t259142.html
Guys,
I just got a Vodafone Treo 750v which i really like. but it doesn't have Vodafone Live or Mobile TV access on it as standard. I managed to get my Tytn II working (with your help and the Modaco forum) several months ago and now I'm trying to see if you or anyone can get my 750v working.
First thing i did was install a cab file (from the thread in the post above) on my machine and setup a wap connection and i was straight in to Vodafone Live all of a sudden. Got to mobile tv page but Windows media player wouldn't connect via wap. So went to xda-developers page and downloaded the HTC v2.10 streaming player and installed it and set it up to connect via wap.
Success, almost - choosing a channel to watch now launches the HTC player and starts to buffer the video but when it gets to almost 100% buffered and is ready to start showing video it suddenly hangs, then has an error and wants to send an error log to Microsoft. Its almost like the HTC player is missing something or some codec or dll file.
Anyone know how to crack this last bit? Anyone use a different Streaming media player to do this?
Hope someone can help!
Paul

check to see if you have the right wince.nls in your device\temp or device\windows\ folder. check if you have reloadnls.exe or usemynls.exe in your windows\startup\ folder.
if any of the above is missing, you will lose china in your region setting.
I have checked and found no directory has these two files. Now the question is how it worked before? What are these files? How can I get these files?
It is because your CE star is just expired! Click Registration icon in the CE star program folder and register by the serial number provided. The registration need internet connection so please open your wifi / GPRS / ActiveSync, etc.
Thanks. I did the registration and it worked. Apprently after I reflashed the rom, I have reinstalled the CE-Start but did not do the registration. It seems to remember the previous registration that I did according to the email address that I submitted. I did make a mistake in the email address and it did not allow me to registration to go through until the email address is corrected.
Now everything is back now. Thanks for help.
Exactly. After my CE Star 15 days trial expired, I lost all the Chinese options in the region setting. Meanwhile, my SMS and email got scewed up which can not open any email or SMS message. Initially I thought it was related to the Spb phone suite which I just installed the night before. Actually it was not.
I have tried to re-register my CE Star 2.8R3c with those key-gen softwares or replace it with the well known Leies CE Star(re-packed CE Star). Neither of them works. My CE Star still said not registered. It seems my WM6.1 registry has been marked somewhere. Maybe doing hard reset to the ROM then installing the Leies CE Star will work. But I didn't try that yet because I don't want to reinstall everything.
Eventually, I paid for the CE Star and got it officially registered. Now it worked perfect as before.
