Just thought i would let people know that i have received my new TytnII from Orange UK (having a faulty original) and it now ships with Windows Mobile 6.1!
Also included are the HTC Home plugin and the HTC HomePlug as standard (the later is useless).
Having has a loan of an old SPV with a modified 6.1 ROM on it, its a welcome surprise as i was always a wee bit dissappointed with the slugishness of WM6.0. My TytnII is now a bit quicker.
Thought - do you think Orange UK are now shipping new TytnII's with WM6.1 from the shops or do you think i have WM6.1 because i had a faulty unit and HTC supplied Orange with "default" TytnII's for use with warranty claims and Orange have just loaded their 'Orange' today screen ????
Only problem i have is the screen turns off during a call (annoying when using the answer phone) and im sure there was a .cab that was an editor to allow me to change that setting plus some more advanced settings. does anybody know the name of it, as i have not archived my original download of the .cab.
Regards
D
You can alter the setting for this using KaiserTweak, which you will find elsewhere in this section.
Hmmmm, that's great news!!
Maybe I'll report the fault with mine after all to chance getting a 6.1 replacement!!

Hi there,
My friend recently bought an Kaiser on Orange. The Orange Today screen is pretty cool (an orangy coloured side bar) and was wondering if there was a cab out there that I could put on my kaiser?
Im currently running dutty's diamond rom.
Thanks a lot.
I dont think there is one to be honest, I am sure you could flash the whole orange rom though (Search this site for a link to it, im sure its here somewhere)
99% of the orange users of TYTN II (Including myself) flash the device as soon as we got them to either a HTC original ROM or some cooked by the many great chefs on the forums.
Thats all i know im afraid, hope your search goes well.
I have an orange tytn ii, i didnt flash it, cuz I am on contract.
the orange screen can be removed by going
start>settings>today>items
un-tick the orange box. The cab you mention is in here somewhere, search around for HTC Home Plug or somethinglike that.
Hope this saves you the flashing risk
EDIT: JUST RE-READ THE POST - AUTO ASSUMED YOU WANTED TO RID THE ORANGE PRE-SET
I own the Vodafone version of the HTC Diamond:
Rom 1.37.161.2 WWE
Radio 1.00.25.03
The devise was working very well until I installed Diamond Tweaks and changed the Theme to HTC Black. The devise become very slow and completely unusable and it totally messed my custom city weather, which I can no longer manually select a new city due to "File write protection couldn't removed" error, even after reinstallation.
I have reset the theme to default and removed bloody Diamond tweaks but the devise still feels below par and Weather database still won't load.
I was was considering a hard reset but have a few questions:
Will the reset remove all my apps? (Advanced config, Gsen, Vodafone Satnav etc.)
Will it remove the Vodafone connection ssetting? (Is there a way I can back these up first?)
On another subject, I have been reading about the updated Official Rom's/Radio's and Hard SPL and to be fair don't understand any of it lol.
I would like to put the newest (best working) Rom/Radio on, especially if this meant it would debrand the phone but I would want to retain the Vodafone connection settings and I rather do like the Vodafone Satnav software and I fear this would disappear, is there some where i can download it separately? And is there a tutorial with exact instructions on how to update the Rom and Radio and back up setting?
Sorry for all the questions and I know some one will say search forum but I have read over 73 pages of forum data and didn't find what I want. Thanks in advance.
Welcome
But come on, not finding most of the things in 73 pages? If it removes your programms is stated in the MANUAL. You know that thing that everybody finds scary for some reason. And in the 73 pages you didn't find a link to modmydiamond or something like that? The vodafone setting i dont know. I have a unbranded one
As expected, some helpful advice, have seen Modmydiamond link no help for me and as for reading the manual, there isn't one, have Getting started guie, which does say see chapter 13 of user manual for Hard rest procedures and what it will actually do. But no hard copy or files on installation disc.
how much did you paid for it(if it's not a secret),because i plan to buy htc touch diamond.
is it slow?
how long baterry can handle?
Confusion !
First of all, Hello !

To avoid any misunderstanding (you must be precise) : I think you are talking about Diamond TF3D Config wich is not the same as Diamond Tweak, another app.
Also, you should post it in the appropriate thread...
Thanks to correct that.
Got it free on Vodafone Upgrade, they did want to charge me £140 for it but have a friend who works at Voda and they told me to cancel my contract and wait till they phone me back and surely enough some guy phoned and offered it free to me.
@MonteCristoffOn apologies for putting in wrong place and yes your correct it is the Diamond TF3D Config that messed everything, oh and hello
you are really lucky htc for free!!!
and what about batterry and perfomanse??
Battery is not too good, doesn't last at all, goes to about half battery at the end of the day, would probably last longer if i stopped playing with it . Performance is quite good, once you put Advanced Config on it, which works really well.
Here's a hint:
Just make sure you delete EVERY manila theme file on your \windows directory.
Leaving any of them behind can make your device go bonkers. Happened to me too...
Perhaps your restore on the TF3D config didnt work well...
the problem is i dont understand what is manila theme
Manila is TouchFlo 3D. Please stay on topic.
Have completed re-set the phone now and it's working sweet again I hear that Vodafone are working on updated ROM themselves, which may be out later this year, so will apply there's when it's complete.
After actually having the Original Black Manila for a bit, I decided don't like it and the Voda version is clearer. So will stick that for the time being .
OT anyone know what the time interval is for the Weather updating when automatic update is set and if the value can be changed via reg hack or app?
vodafone knows how to make the HTC Diamond very slow
I went from 1.37 "Vodafone rom" to 1.93 NL without all the Vodafone stuff and now its really fast! I only had to reinstall Tomtom 7 as it was preinstalled on the Vodafone rom.
No problems left except for the battery. I just ordered a spare original battery (35€), problems solved.
(btw i bought it for 95€, 2year Vodafone, 18€ a month.)
Hi
I am going to purchase a HTC Touch Diamond off eBay, but I had a few questions I was wondering you guys could please answer?
The Orange version of the HTC Touch Diamond has not been changed as far as I know; apparently just the name - from HTC Touch Diamond to HTC Diamond.
But does it still have the Diamond-like back cover?
Also, is there ANY branding on the device, hardware or software wise?
Or is it just a HTC Touch Diamond with a slightly different name thats locked to Orange..
Thanks
my Orange diamond does have the diamond back cover, no software on it and their is a small orange brand on the back cover at the bottom but apart from that its all nice
Thanks for the fast response!
Looks like ill be getting the Orange version
Thanks again!
I think it depends what one you get. My Orange Touch Diamond has a small "orange" logo on the back - other than that it looks identical to unbranded version. However I got mine through dialaphone rather than orange direct
In addition the ROM on mine is standard HTC. However other Orange Touch Diamonds I have seen, including the one shown in the manual supplied with mine have Orange's own ROM with different clock on Home screen and different tabs on the Touchflo.
The tabs on mine are Home, contacts, messages, email, internet, photos and video, music, weather, settings and programme. Tabs on Orange are home, contacts, messages, email, call history, photos and videos, orange downloads, orange music, orange TV, orange world, weather, settings, and programme.
I think I read somewhere here that the Orange ROM was dropped because it was causing problems and later phones came with HTC ROM, but not sure where you can find that.
I have just noticed that Orange now have an updated ROM for the HTC available for download from their site - that is new! Not sure what it does, but perhaps others can report what you get when you install it.
hi
do you have a link for the update on the orange site?
ill give it a go

I think you have to be registered and logged into your Orange account to get this update. Once in your account choose "get help using phone", then when new window comes up choose your phone then choose "your phone's features" then "download software".
If you do try it I would be gateful if you could tell me how it goes - I must admit I prefer the standard HTC home screen and clock more than the Orange one and don't want to chnage unless there are some positive benefits
i cant seem to update
i have a macbook and use paralels for win xp
the installer goes fine until the diamond goes into the loader screen which disconnects and wont reconnect to xp
i think the problem lies with using paralels as when you plug something usb in it automatically connects to mac os instead
tried changing some options but no joy !!
so looks like no upgrading for me
Yay
Just ordered my HTC Diamond off eBay - I got the orange version.
My friend will unlock it for me (don't know how he is going to do it);
It comes with the latest ROM pre-installed, but would this interfere with the unlocking process?
Also, if the phone has Hard-SPL installed can I go ahead and install the latest HTC ROM Updates instead as normal? - I would only do this if the original ROM had Orange branding in it (yuekh)
Sorry for all the questions.. but I am new to the Diamond Scene!
Thanks
I have just bought an HTC TYTN II, I would like to install the O2 Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM, I prefer the O2 ROM as all the settings are pre-programmed and the layout are as O2 expect them so I can call them for Tech support.
Unfortunately, I cannot access the file as I don't have the O2 version (the XDA STELLAR) and you need to enter your O2 XDA STELLAR Serial Number to access it.
Is there any kind person out there that might be willing to PM (message) me with a serial number of an XDA STELLAR that I could enter to get the file please.
Hoping someone can help me,
Thanks Folks,
wirralot
PS: Isn't the TYTN II / XDA STELLAR just the BEST phone ever!!
i would just put on a cooked rom from the many out there, first read the wiki about spl etc
the settings are on a automatic send once you install a new rom and turn it on,
as for tech help,i would say heres your guys use the search and you will be fine.
iam on o2 and its fine tryed many roms now and still ok.
TyTN IIs Connection Wizard/network will automatically set it up
The HTC branded TyTN II has a connection wizard which allows use on different networks and in different countries (especially useful if you're going overseas and want to use a PAYG sim for example. Also, as already mentioned, when you turn the phone on with your O2 sim already in it, the phone will automatically set itself up for your network - that's how it was with me and Vodafone. There's no need to go to the trouble of flashing your ROM and should you need any tech support, any instructions for the Stellar are likely to apply to the TyTN II as well. The few times I've spoken with Vodafone staff, their V1615 (vodafone branded version) feedback has helped (they even sent me a V1615 manual so I can compare the two).
ps yes it's the best ever as long as you have the WM 6.0 ROM and don't expect very good video playback!
Thanks for the input guys,
I should be receiving the pda in a day or too.
I believe it's on Windows mobile 6.1.
You say :" ps yes it's the best ever as long as you have the WM 6.0 ROM and don't expect very good video playback!"
Is WM 6.1 not a success for the Tytn II?
This is a great site, full of other people like me who couldn't live without their PDA!
Cheers Folks,
wirralot
O2 Wm 6.1 Rom
Here is a link to download the ROM. Its in the Kaiser Wiki, just scroll through the list and you will see it under HTC WM 6.1 ROMs.

I can only write with experience of the HTC branded TyTN II and their official ROMs here in the UK but IMO HTCs WM 6.1 upgrade for the TyTN II is more trouble than its worth. It introduced many bugs which I'd not noticed or experienced under WM 6.0. These included the default ring tones going silent unexpectedly, untidy file structure with WMP program files being where they shouldn't and of course GPS performance issues (which it appears are also plaguing its successor the Touch Pro). I wrote a multipage letter to HTC about bugs with their WM 6.1 upgrade and their handling of them so in short, no, I do not consider HTCs implementation of WM 6.1 a success (in its current state) on the TyTN II
Hi guys
recently got this XDA and as good as it is i prefer the original diamond software, apparently the o2 software that comes pre installed in slightly different and not as good (kinda glitchy aswell)
would it be possible for me to delete the o2 software and install the original diamond sofware instead?
any immediate problems i should be aware about before i try?
cant wait to start modding the fone
thanks in advance Tweeter
Anyone?
