Email and weather issue - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I recently flashed RUU_Diamond_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.37.707.1_Radio_Signed_D iamond_52.26a.25.09_1.00.25.03_Ship, the Hard-SPL ROM, onto my Diamond and now when trying to set up email to AOL I get a "error synchronizing". I also cannot seem to get a connection for the weather either. Everything else works. I can even set up email to hotmail. I was able to connect to AOL out of the box. It is only after the ROM flash that I have had these errors.
Im in the US, so if there is a better ROM to use please point me to it.

I flashed the rom back to stock and somehow the aol email is working now.. but the weather still wont update. All I get is the screen and "Taipei" and then it gives me Connection Error.

does your internet connection use a proxy?
If it does that maybe causing the problems for weather updates, the t-mobile proxy was causing my weather updates to be intermittent, once i removed the proxy the weather has been fine.
I am also having problems with aol mail after uprgrading my stock uk rom to the 1.37.401.3 euro rom.
I am able to get mail from the aol server but i cant send mail no matter what i chang the smtp server to.
Anyways, if you checked what connection the mail app was trying to use when downloading aol messages you may have seen it set to the wrong internet connection,i say that because after i upgraded and used the wizard to setup my aol account i found it was trying to use "my work" as the connection to recieve aol mail, once i changed it to t-mobile internet it worked fine except i am still unable to send mail.

Gmail IMAP/POP problems

I've tried the seraches, but no cigar...
A strange problem, I've set up my Gmail IMAP account, but when I try to send/receive, it gets stuck on "connecting..." (in the bottom right of the screen), then after about 2 minutes, it times out saying "Messages cannot be downloaded to your device..."
I'm able to connect via wifi flawlessly, so I'm thinking it may be a problem with my carrier (o2 uk)? I can access the internet fine, i can even go onto gmail.com and sign in from there, so I'm really confused...
My settings are as follows:
ROM: Dutty's 6.1
Radio: 1.58.16.27
WAP/GPRS settings:
o2 WAP
Cellular Line (GPRS, 3g)
payandgo.o2.co.uk
I've followed the gmail IMAP setup, checking for any spelling mistakes etc. But I don't think my problem is here, cos I also had this problem when gmail was setup for POP3.
Any help would be appreciated guys/gals.
I'm in the same boat but of a different size. I'm running Dutty's WM6.1 5.2.19199 with radio 1.58.16.27. When i flashed to this rom I hard reset before and after flash and begain to set up my device as normal. When i got to the email portion and set up my gmail accounts and tried to send/receive it does not even try to connect and gives me an error synchronizing. a few seconds afterwards a cannot connect bubble pops up and tells me to change my connection settings. I ran the connection setup that came with the rom and then double checked the settings and they appear no different than before when i could sync with gmail. I can connect to the internet just fine. I have searched(and used the search feature) but have found no answers.
Disregard.
Disregard my post above. Sometimes I'm just stupid.

When I had issues with my Sending and Receiving of Email I had to take off any proxies in my 3G Connection.
I had the same error message appear after setting up Gmail IMAP, it turned out to be a spelling error! Now it's working, I can send/recieve fine. Having said that, I can't get Gmail to download any folder content, it only downloads the inbox. I mean, the folders are shown, but there's nothing ever in them. Any ideas?
Off topic slightly, when people send mail through gmail have they notice gmail produces 2 sent messages for the 1 email.
1 has your email the other is blank?

I also notice 2 email, but both are ok (none is blank).
do you use another account using exchange server??
I have a different issue with gmail maybe someone can help me out. I have two gmail accounts set up and they send and recieve fine the only problem is that the next time is sends/recieves it deletes the previous mail that was there and only downloads new ones. Is there a way to keep all email in my inbox or does it always erase previously downloaded mail and just display new ones. I have it set up to Automatic Send/Receive every 30 minutes and to download All Messages...TIA...

I just wanted to thank you for this input. I was really getting frustrated with my first ROM Flash because I couldn't get my gmail to sync. Now its working but I now need to imap configured because it looks like its configured to POP3 automatically. Either way thanks JimmyMcGee

Working IMAP on Windows Mobile 6.1?

IMAP doesn't seem to work in any of the WM6.1 ROMS. Anyone know how to work around this?
I'm having my mail account configured using IMAP and it works without problems (WM6.1 Lite). I also had it with 6.1 "full" and WM6.
Whenever I setup a new email address it doesn't give me the option to NOT automatically get settings from the server for Gmail.
To make it work with Gmail you have to not use the default settings. I had it working just fine with WM6. Any ideas?
Have a look here.
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886&topic=12920
With the wm6.1 versions floating around there is no "check box" - that's the problem.
To resolve, you need to enter in a bogus (or incomplete) domain name for your email address in order to "fool" it and stop the auto pop3 config. then you can choose imap and afterward go back and correct the domain.
Are you talking about for exchange or for just a normal Outlook Mobile email that I added? Whenever I add a new email address through Outlook it doesn't ask for a doman.
Can you explain in more detail maybe??
Edit: I tried the bogus domain thing and it didn't work. Hmmm, this is pretty crappy. Unless there's a fix I might have to to back to my old ROM, cause the main reason I have a Treo is for email :/.
I don't have wm6.1 anymore (the version I was using was not ready for primetime IMO). But when asked for your email address (the first step I believe), do not put @gmail.com, instead make it gmai.com (not the missing 'L') then proceed through inputing everything else correctly, at some point you'll be asked for the mailbox type (drop down of pop or imap). Choose IMAP and carry on to finish. then go back in and correct your email address. synch your mailbox...
Worked like a charm man, thanks a lot!

Sending Email with IMAP

Does anyone know of any bugs/issues with Windows Mobile (or any specific rom issues, for that matter) that exist with attempting to use multiple IMAP accounts? I used one of Dutty's roms before, then Alex's rom (I believe), and I'm back to Dutty's and still have the same issue. I can only seem to get one IMAP send account to work. Basically, when I was on Alex's rom, only my work IMAP would work, Gmail wouldn't. Now that I've re-flashed to
Dutty's rom, I can't get my work to send messages (and I'm certain it worked on Alex's and Gmail wouldn't), but Gmail does work. Any ideas?
Has no one else had this issue? Is there a setting or something that I've missed? I've looked up and down the phone, but see nothing...
If you're looking for issues regarding sending email, you have to search for the SMTP protocol, not for IMAP. POP3 and IMAP are used to receive mail, SMTP to send.
Are you sure the SMTP server you are using is accessible through your internet connection (I mean like 3G, GPRS, EDGE, not WLAN)? Most likely this is where the problem is situated.
Gmail SMTP is accessible through a mobile connection, but most SMTP servers from ISPs are not.
Good luck!
Yeah I'm sure. On Alex's ROM my work email would send ok (which didn't actually use smtp.xxxx.com; instead mail.xxxx.com), but gmail wouldn't send anything (using smtp.gmail.com). But now back on Dutty's, my work account wont send, and Gmail will. Does that answer your question?
In a way it does.
I tried using different SMTP server just now, but one of em didn't work. It might be the exact same issue as you have, but I think my problem has got more to do with the SMTP server itself than the configuration.
Sorry
Basically my issue only exists in SENDING emails. I can receive emails from all accounts fine, but I haven't been able to get more than one IMAP account to be able to send. Anyone else familiar with this issue, or have encountered it as well?
att smtp
I use att and the only smtp that work is their smtp. Even though you can receive any pop, you can only send through them. That may your problem
But that can't be it either. I've gotten GMail's SMTP to work on my latest ROM...just can not get my work, which is just mail.xxx.com instead of SMTP, which doesn't make any sense since I've gotten it to work before; basically I've gotten each of them to work before, just not at the same time. Also while I was at work Friday, I had our IT manager pull up the email server log, and on "send/receive" it shows it me connecting, receiving, but when it comes to sending messages, nothing reaches the server; it's like something fails on the PPC's end before it reaches the server. And I've quadruple+ checked the address, so it can't be that either.
Nobody else know anything about this?
While I was looking for something else, I ran into this:
Q.How can I configure Exchange ActiveSync to support multiple SMTP domains?A.Exchange ActiveSync locates a user's mailbox by using the primary Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) address. However, if users have a different SMTP domain in their e-mail address, they cannot synchronize their mobile device with Exchange Server 2003. To address this issue, you must add a registry key to force Exchange ActiveSync to locate the user's mailbox by using a secondary SMTP addresses. For more information about how to configure Exchange ActiveSync to locate users' secondary e-mail addresses, see You receive an HTTP_500 error message when you synchronize your mobile device with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
Caution: Incorrectly editing the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Problems resulting from editing the registry incorrectly may not be able to be resolved. Before editing the registry, back up any valuable data.
[/qoute]
It might have nothing to do with your problem, but you might wanna give it a try. Follow the link in the quote.
Good luck

Having problems setting up E-mail account

Hey everyone,
I'm having trouble setting up an e-mail account on my Kaiser with AthineOS ME 3.0. After I set up an email account (Yahoo!), I do Send/Receive and a message pops up saying:
"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings."
I have GPRS set up (Tmobile). Everything using internet works perfectly fine PIE, Opera Mini, Weather updates, etc. I even tried Wi-Fi, but says the same error. Also tried a different ROM (Hyper Dragon III), still no luck. Spent all day trying to get this to work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

did you try the MMS/SMS setting tab...what are your settings? medianet, MyISP? I am sure the problem lies in there...is it one email account or several?
slawcop is quite right. i have this trouble when i update my roms. it's usually set to medianet, or something similar, you need to select your provider from the drop down box in the settings and you should be good to go.

Can receive emails but not send after setting e-mail account

Hi all,
My phone will only receive emails & will not send them via my ISP settings. I use T-mobile internet & my landline ISP is TalkTalk. I have used the e-mail setup on my phone (Tytn11 Wm6.1) with my ISP's info (POP & smtp settings) & I can receive emails OK but can't send them - I get a message saying 'THE MESSAGE COULD NOT BE SENT. CHECK THAT YOU HAVE NETWORK COVERAGE AND THAT YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION IS CORRECT. THEN TRY SENDING AGAIN. Now I have spoken to both T-mobile & TalkTalk, both have said all the settings are correct (which they are as I can receive emails OK). So why can I receive emails but not send them?
Many thanx in advance
Tynt11 wm 6.1 pro
Most likley your settings are not correct for your out going mail server
Usualy these things can be the case
a) You havent set for authorisation on your outgoig mail server
b) sometimes out going mail hosts use different ports to the standard 110 therefore would have to be updated in ur Windows Mobile
c) your settings are just plain wrong.
Can you type to me ALL of the settings you were given and I'll take a look at them for you.
Thanks
I have the same issue with my Tilt as well. I use Cox Isp. I can get my emails, just can't send any.
old issue - same trouble
My settings are in fact correct (we'll just get this one out of the way). The same settings being used on my pc's are working just fine but not on my phone.
I can receive BUT I can't send. I get the same error as "foxes" above.
receiving is via my web based email acct "pop.xxx.com" Works fine for receiving emails.
While I'm on my own home network (lan) I can recieve but I can't send via the phone (but I can on any of the pc's) and the outgoing settings are the same as the pc's "smtp.comcast.net". Yeah, I'm on comcast. Why won't my phone send like the pc's with the same setings? Any Ideas.
Another question I realize is whenever I'm tailgating on any other lan (free wifi access) this setting clearly shouldn't work. Should I then use "smtp.xxx.com" (my own companies web server)? This setting doesn't work while I'm at home even on the pc's it won't work. A
Any ideas on setting this up more universally??
Also, I've tried the port setting idea example "smtp.xxx.com:587". My server requires this port for outgoing. Again this works fine on my pc's but fails on the phone
THX to anyone with any ideas
JG
What port are you using on smtp?
Have you tried either 485 or 465? I read that comcast changed the port in Denver to 485:
http://www.consideritfixed.com/2008/02/ipod-touch-emai.html
Maybe it might work for your location.
Try these settings on Tmo should work on your Tilt too:
http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/555041-1.html
change the port to 25 if you are tying to use Tmobile web service.
my pc is setup with
incomming = "pop.XXX.com"
outgoing = "smtp.XXX.com" using port "587"
works great never a problem.
Now, on the same LAN using my tilt with exact same email acct info & pswd and settings
incomming = "pop.XXX.com"
outgoing = "smtp.XXX.com:587"
receives great
send = fails always. The ":587" is the only way I've been told to send using port "587" (or any other port than 25). If there's another way then maybe that's the answer. However, even using "smtp.comcast.net" with no port designation (default 25) wouldn't work even though it would with the pc's and same settings. This is strictly phone issue and frustrating.
I'm using wm6.1 (original). This is strictly via WIFI. The pc's will send just fine but the phone with exact same settings - FAIL.
This is my dilema. Why won't the phone send while using the exact same settings as any PC in my LAN (all send fine).
Again, thanks for the input, but I'm still searching for the answer. Certainly others have had this issue.
T-mobile internet and email
you need to log into t-mobile.com find "my email," select "add account," put in your email info. it will give you some server and username info. replace the outgoing (smtp) server and username info with what t-mo.com gives you. leave the password alone. send a test email. half the time this issue is due to the server setup on the provider side.

p.s. it doesn't hurt to work for tmobile's unsupported handset department

After all of these posts, what about trying the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Hotfix for sending email actually devised to fix problems under WM 6.1 sending email ?

Hey Flying Kiwi,
I'll try that aswell, thanx
lol wow.
I know that my ISP does not allow to send via their SMTP server while being off of their network. So I have to use at&t's SMTP server.
looks like this is the smtp that you can use.

You'll probably find that patch alone will fix it if the problem is sending email worked initially but then after short while, for no apparent reason it stopped working. It looks like an issue that's been in the xda-dev forums before and I recall this solution doing the trick with others. If installing the patch, soft resetting and testing again doesn't fix it, by all means attempt reconfiguring but it's easier to install the patch first.
Of course I don't need it because the WM 6.0 ROM I use doesn't have this problem only the newly WM 6.1 'upgraded' phones so there's yet another advantage of sticking with WM 6.0
