1. open calender

3. choose tools->options
4. change 'start in' to whatever you want (month view)
works for htc vogue, try it on your diamond?

That's completely normal, as it is called a Today screen So if you open the calender by clicking your agenda it will open today and not the normal setting. Discussed here before a few times and as far as i know there isn't a solution yet.

ah...ok...thx!!
I found the following behaviour with my T-Mobile branded Diamond:
You're in the TouchFlo3D home screen.
Clicking on an appointment shown below the clock and missed called button, you will see the agenda view.
Clicking on the lower right hand site "calendar" button, you will see the month view in calendar. No matter what you've setup in the options mentioned above in this thread...
Bit weird.
*bump*
still no possible fix or tweak around this thing? i know it's not a major bug or smth but it's annoying enough to have to tap 3 times more just to get into your "month" view
I fixed this by changing one of the soft keys to calander. When I now click this soft key it goes to my calander month view page. But if I click the reminder/calendar note below the call history it goes to day view so I think its a bug with TF3D.
I have fix this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462037&highlight=month+view

I'm using a T-mobile MDA vario-iii with the standard calendar applicaition.

yes, never had a problem with calendar settings....sorry for my wrong post above...which ROM you're using ?
Had the same problem and I managed to fix it but I can't 100% remember how. I think I used an app for changing the soft buttons to repoint the soft key to the Calendar.lnk in the organiser folder in the start menu. That fixed it.
The problem I had only effected the calendar if launched from the soft key, not from the program menu.

Standard ROM it came with which is
1.56.110.4
Is that bad?
I had to disable the bundled F-secure AV, responsiveness seems to have picked up since doing that.

Did you find a solution to this prob?
I've got the same issue.....no matter what I set my default Calendar view to, it always opens in month view from the soft key. If I open the Calendar from the start menu then it will open in whatever default view I've set.
Hi all, I choose to start calender in 'month view' in calender options, but when i open it, it comes on in month view but immediately changes back to day automatically. Has anyone else come accross this?
yes, my HTC Diamond also has this bug.. anybody has any idea how to solve this bug??
Just a curiosity: does this happen with TouchFlo disabled as well?
I haven't tried disabling touchflo so not sure.
Here it's the same, but with TF3D disabled everything is fine
I have no fix for the calendar bug. I use another agenda program though (Agenda One), which has a much much better look and feel than the standard one and much more functionality.

ok folks, i've just tested on my Diamond. If you open Calendar using the 3D Touchflow, u'll open up to the day view (irregardless of your view settings in Calendar).
but if u open Calendar using the Start -> Calendar.... u'll get the month view (assuming u've set "month view" in the options)

It is not a bug, it is a feature:
Touchflo 3D is a TODAY replacement. So if you use Touchflo 3D to open calender, it will show you TODAY!!
Makes sense, don't you think?
If you want to take a look into your calender in an other view, you can use one of the many other ways to open it.

Hey Folks
I upgraded to the official Hong Kong ROM upgrade on my HTC Diamond & whilst impressed by the speed improvements I have a major bug that annoys the hell out of me & thus hope some genius reading this can help fix the problem
On the home tab using the "phone" icon it then shows recent calls. However the left hand button that used to show "contacts" now shows "video call". I never want to make a video call & contacts is far more useful .... but there is no obvious way to change the function
Hoping someone can help
Chill dude.
This ain't a bug, it's a feature.
Personally, I do find video-call usefull, but ill prefer "send SMS"
Do U really need contacts? You can use the keypad T9 to find the person U want to call easily...
Circle your finger around the middle button and it rips thru contacts!

Use your favorite registry editor to navigate to [HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila] and change the following values:
"HomeLSKPath=addrbook.lnk" 'that's the application you want to use
"HomeLSKText=Contacts" 'that's the text that will be displayed on the left soft key on your Home screen
Do a soft reset.
Now your Left Soft Key will display Contacts, so when you press it, you shoul go directly to your contacts. Enjoy!
I've changed mine to Comm Manager.

I don't have a clue how to change softkeys within the phone app, sorry. Looks like I have misread the original post...
Thanks Heretic & others
Yep ... me & 1000 others want to change the key in the phone app
With CT's rom version 4 if I tap Phone soft key on Today screen then tap the little phone icon between the video call and menu softkeys it removes the keypad and leaves me with last call and contacts list...
No ideas anyone .... it is really bugging me
For me i just disabled the phone skin with the Advanced Config tool. It reverts back to the old WM6 design. I still prefer that. Do note that once u do this, the vibration when a call connects is disabled.
Hey KGB-Agent, I have exactly the same problem...and it is bugging me as well! I upgraded my dutch ROM yesterday :-( Another problem I have is that when I look at my contacts the SIM contacts are not displayed, even when I configure this in Advanced Config Tool...HELP! Anyone else an idea how to fix???
Your contacts are opened when your in the phone app, just scroll! why do you want it to open another contacts process when its already there?!? up and down or as i already said circle the middle button with your finger
Hi Blaze,
Circling with my finger in the middle button doesn't work for me. Furthermore, with "Contacts" I could quickly scroll down with the Alphabet on the right to f.e. the letter Z. The way you recommand it takes me ages to get to the "Z"!
I called the HTC helpdesk, they advised me to do a Hard Reset. Of course...that didn't work...:-(
Go to start and choose contacts its the same screen.
I agree the videocall is a bad choice from the makers of this rom.
Most people do not use this kind of calls.
Grtzzz
I have the same issues with the loss of functionality Ries
I cant believe there are not more complaints
I emailed HTC 4 days ago with no answer :<
@kgb-agent: I phoned the helpdesk. They said I had to do a hard-reset!?! I couldn't believe it, but okay, I tried it...and what do you think: I still have the problem! :-( I guess we have to live with it...bad choice from the developers...
same problem
up
Two things:
1) why don't people use the smart dialling feature? this is where when in the phone keypad, you just spell out your contact using the alphanumeric keypad (it uses T9 to search) and it displays your search results in real time at the top of the dial pad... MUCH easier than the contacts screen - try it.
2) circling the middle button with your finger does NOT work for me, i have no idea how that is working for you since the diamond is not meant to be able to scroll using that 'wheel' unless you have installed some 3rd party software for it, or its unique to your ROM/region.
I have read a lot about people who are looking for a solution to show more than 1 or sometimes 2 calender events under "the big clock" in TF3D home screen.
I have searched thrue whole xda but i couldn't find a solution for this except for using third party software....
Is there anybody who can tweak this or do a registry add. so that it will show all todays appointments and or upcoming app.
Sorry for my bad english, but i know that a lot of people also wants this so please help!
I wonder what could be done as there is not enough space for more than one line as far as I see.

you know you can slide the clock up right!
i was also looking for this problem but didn't find anything
afaik now, this is an issue with WM. it always shows only the next appointment.
if you want to display more appointments, you need a plugin (e.g. TodayAgenda)
there must be someone here with a solution....
indeed we can scroll the time up but then we loose the funky themed Hellboy clock
What we really need is the ability to turn off functions we dont need, for example, I don't need "Alarm" or "Call history" displayed. If these were removed from this screen then there would be enough space for another 2 calender entries. Indeed, why do we even need the word "Calender" displayed, is this not obvious from the text below it i.e. the appointment/birthday etc???
it is not an windows mobile issue !
if you disable tf3d you will see more than one ore two entries; if configured in the today section of wm.
it is an issue concerning tf3d afaik without a solution yet.
regards
t.

Use advanced config to change what appointments are shown on your home screen. I have mine set to 'next appointment, and all todays events.' 2 appointments show only when I have an appointment on the current and the next. Still want it to show my next appointment regardless of how far ahead it is. Anyone else had any luck?

That doesn't allow TF3D to show more than one all day event though. Not on mine anyhow
Not just the Calendar show only tomorrow and not day after, the fonts are too small and not using System fonts that define in Screen>> Text,
The solution is to use Second Today screen, so u can add extarnal free program like Today Agenda with many many options..
I would have thought that the advanced config people could change the option to simply "show x no. of apointments". I have the clock minimised and there is loads of space with blank tiles at the bottom of the screen for another 2 appointments

Agreed. On the face of it it doesn't seem like it would be too tricky to fix but the lack of a solution deems otherwise. We sit and wait.
if u use s2u2 can u display up to 6 events in a maximum range of 100 days...
obiviously it's all displayed in the unlock screen!
I use the s2u2 method mentioned above.
I have to say that its an elegant solution, I can check my appointments by just touching the power button without even having to unlock.
Have to agree with S2UL as the solution to your problem! Give it a try, you'll be impressed.
***edit 20/12/08*** As BlockbusterF writes few posts below there is a simpler solution than mine. I checked it myself and is working, so i suggest try his method and not mine. My method has some differences. It opens calendar in month view even if you have it minimized in other view eg day view.
For everyone who wants to use the more difficult method of mine this is it:***
After i have take many things from this site ,it is time to give something back!
I managed to make the calendar to open in month view, and not the default day view. I noticed that many others are trying to do this.
This is how i did it. I write a simple (one line) program in basic for ppc, which runs the calendar to month view. You can download ti here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/175093797/monthvew.exe
Is is only 36 KB. Now put it in any folder you want (even in internal storage)
Try to run it. You will see that calendar will appear but in month view. Even if you have already calendar running in the background on day view, by running monthvew.exe it will go to screen to month view.
So the only problem now is to change the link to manila so when you press the button of calendar on screen, not to run calendar.exe, but to run my program monthview.exe (Which will run calendar.exe again but in month view) So the final result will be by pressing "calendar" on manila to have again runing calendar but in month view this time. You can do this by SSMaPa . If you dont know the program read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407777
Be sure that you know how to use it, and you dont making anything wrong with this program (You can try to change the button of calendar to run another .exe to see that you have learn to use ssmapa, and after to make it run monthview.exe)
After all perhaps you will see that every time you press calendar ,it opens in day view and immediately changes to month view. If this happens it is because you have it opens by its settings to day view. Go to the calendar-- menu-tools- and from the list there set "open in month view"
Now everything will work ok and the calendar will opens to month view at once ..
Thanks for this...
finally
Thanks for your work!
But I have to say that it's already no problem to start the calendar in month view.
Just remove the "$" under parameters with SSMaPA and select "start in monthview" or something like that under extras -> options in calendar and thats all.

Ehm... I have done the same by setting it under Menu-Extra- Options- start in month view
Yes, but this only work if you start your calendar out of the startmenu for example.
Wenn you click on calendar in manila it normaly always start in agenda mode.
So you have to use SSMaPa to tweak your manila.exe.

Download SSmapa from the link i give , save it in a folder in your mobile, run it.
In the first page check the box "extended init" and press "init". in the messegebox with a question press "no". Now you will see a list of aplications.
Press the first one "calendar.exe"
You will see a box "Arguments" with the value "$".
Delete the $
check the box "patch anabled and "press save.
Now go to the next page "deploy" and press "deploy patch". Restart manila.
Thanks sosimple for keeping so simple! Took me a little time finding that SSmapa but after that, it was so simple.
THanks sosimple for making this process so simple.

Hey lads I'm running dutty's rom 3.6b and when you click the calendar tab on the manilla home screen it'll bring you straight to month view or whatever you happen to have chosen in the Calendar options. I believe its a feature of the newer versions of manilla. Before dutty 3.6b I was using a stock ROM and it always used to go to the day view.
Cooked ROMs are lovely.
Now you can do this, even in the original rom, with the trick i write ..
which manila file is ssmapa patching when you delete the $ sign from it? I would like to just overwrite the patched version after hard reset through autoconfig instead of running the program.
