Hello guys,
this is my first post, so a little about me and my device:
I'm from Italy and I've got my Tytn II (Vodafone PDA 1615) few days ago.
I've already got rid of the original Vodafone ROM and loaded the updated HTC WM6.1 ROM.
I'm very happy with it and it allows me to do almost everything I need to for my job (checking emails, browse the Net, check my office servers and if needed, connect remotely to them).
I was thinking that it would be very nice to have a video chat software using the front camera as a webcam, do you know if something like that exists?
Thanks.
Aleph

Skype Instead?
Does anyone have Skype working on the kaiser?
The only reason that I suggest Skype instead of VZOChat is because the other person has to have VZOChat - more people have Skype.

I have googled th earht and found nothing.
Does anybody know of an application for Video calls over WiFi?
Not the 3G Video Calls!
I did find a nice application for Video Streaming which works only one way - you can generate a LIVE video streaming and the "world" can see you. (check out comvue).
The WebCamera solution for making the TyTn II a web cam for your PC is nice but not exactly what I am looking for.
Anyone with new/other ideas?
and yes, I know "MS Portrait", but it is far from being the application I was looking for.
Thanks for any help/advice.

nothing, sorry. Hopefully, some time, MS Portrait becomes a decet app (albeit I don't think it'll ever happen as front camera API's are just not published by HTC; this is why MS Portrait can't access the front camera.)
thanks, i will keep my eyes open.
it is a shame that no one developed somthing yet...
Hello,
What are the options to make a video conference over wifi (NOT 3G). ?
Thanks
*bump* anyone ?
i have search enough the only one
that promises that is AGILE MESSENGER but is not free
PS
if you find something more let me know ..PM
I'm unsure of Skype Mobile and, being that I have the Tilt, can't try it out, but Skype for PC/Mac allows video conference calling for free between skype users as well as iChat for Mac and AIM for Windows.
no options as of yet, some claim ms portraint but but no good since most of us don't have the 2nd camera on the front to be used for the conference anyways
Sorry to bug in but am I missing something here? The guy is asking for Video conference. I do have Skype but I don't have an option for Video... What am I missing?
Probably nothing. I didn't know if Skype Mobile had a video conference option or not (Skype for PC and Mac does). I guess it doesn't. Oh well, future version maybe.

I tried Skype Mobile but it is not allowing to use the built-in camera of my Kaiser.
It won't. I checked on Skype's website. Video conferencing is not supported by Skype Mobile.

How about this?

not free.. but it should do the job...
Has anyone been able to use any type of video chat with the GTab yet? I havent seen any posts for it........
You haven't? There's probably four topics about it. As of right now, the only one I've found to work is Yahoo Messenger with the video add on.
fring is another that works but the audio for me is really bad, also it only seems to work when you chat with another fring account... video does not seem to work with any of the federated clients(msn, gtalk).
I just read about this app. I can't find it in the market though the article said it should be available. I thought I'd share.

I couldn't find it in the market on my GTab, but found it on my phone. I'll try side loading it tomorrow. Good find. Thanks for sharing.

tried it on the Tab (VegaN ROM) and wouldn't open. Doesn't mean that there's another way to load it. I'll keep trying as i'd love a good vid chat app.
Wouldn't open on my Hero either.
Bump...
I've tried ooVoo as well but it closes as fast as it opens. I find it hard to believe that there is no real, workable video chat option. I've unsuccessfully tried:
ooVoo
Yahoo Messenger w/ Video add on
Qik
Fring
I'm in the middle of talking my in-laws in PA in to getting a gTab but it's less justified w/o the video chat option. Has anyone tried other solutions?
I agree... I haven't found anything that works like Skype does on the computer. We used to use Skype on the Laptops a lot for video chats with family and when I am away from home on work. I was really hoping I could find a decent solution for the tablets, but nothing really works well. I thought Qik might have been the answer, but that doesn't work well either.

Qik works.. I have qik working on mine right now.. used it to chat between my cell and my tablet.
So does Yahoo Messenger w/ Video. I have it running on the TnT Lite 3.0.0 build right now.

Have you tried Tango?
Tango won't install for me on TnT Lite 3.0 or the previous version.
Yahoo Messenger w/ video chat works on mine running Vegan beta 3, but the webcam is sideways.
Ditto, and bump.
Running Vegan Beta 4. I can get Yahoo to work, but my video is sideways. Anyone know of a fix?
AFAIK, there is no fix for the sideways video. Qik and Yahoo runs on my tablet, but the video does not consistently run and connect. I need something that works like skype does on a laptop. Good audio, high quality video and works everytime. I travel for work weekly and spend nights out of the house. When we had the laptop we would use skype every night. Now with the tablets, there is no solution. Kinda sucks to keep a laptop around just for skype use. Oh well... bleeding edge.
Anyone tried Yahoo messenger, android-to-android? Does that have the sideways problem?
Jim
P.S. Installed on stock 3053.
Yes, Yahoo Messenger from G-Tab to G-Tab has the sideways video issue... when it works.
oovoo video chat software
I was able to get this program on vegan 7. Currently doing IMs and VOIP.the video chat is blocked out on the program and in the programs settings. I think with the growing number of gtab users we can figure this out. I am using this right now talking to wife on her PC.I will continue on solution but I'm just a rookie compared to some
Have you tried my ReelPortal software? It's proven to work on the G Tablet:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908613
It works with Android/PC/Linux/Mac, etc. The interface is a bit clunky. So I'm working on changing that at the moment.
Does video calling work? if so, how?
what apps?
I know Skype doesn't work. What about the other ones? Fring? Fango? etc.

?????????????????????????????
the build in phone dial pad has video chat
you can phone anyone with another video chat capable cell phone
???????????????????????????????
Pretty sure with bell they have a different package for video calling I don't know how it all works you'll have to visit your providers website - just google it I can't post links yet.
As for third party apps there is a few I believe, I use Tango it works the best for me for the very little video calling I do, its still not the greatest yet. You can video call other galaxy users, iphoners, and I'm sure other people who's phones are good enough.
I'm sure skype will have something and google will also just don't know timelines or stuff like that, google it
you forgot to mention Fring

That's the thing im just wondering if Canadian Bell users specifically can video phone.
So far I know Tango works.
