I've been searching the forum but can only find volume changers for the standard "Volume" function of the phone, where as i want one which controls alot of volumes or just specific phone-based volumes (that made sense?)
Basically voice commander / tomtom 7 etc really need the phone volume to be set on max (plus the application on max), which is fine.. until i send a text message & everyone in the house gets woken up by a PONGPONG!!!!! sound & i have to change my shorts.
So i need to keep swaping the volume up & down, i know this sounds like a silly thing to be bugging me but omg it does!
Is there anyway to set program specific volumes?
or any other way that'll solve my problems, just to shut up the phones OS based sounds so they play at a tolerant volume rather than so loud my ears bleed.
well, you can set the master volume to high, and disable all the sounds and notifications you dont want. OR craft up your own sound using a sound editor and tweak it to have less volume, then map it to whatever notification u desire to have a sound.

Hmm yeah i had thought of that but its alot of work, was kinda hoping someone could just say "Download this, problem solved"
Check out a program called TomTom Started located over at FreewarePPC.com. It will automatically max out your volume when you launch TomTom, and turn if back down when it closes.
For future reference, I found this answer by searching "tomtom set volume to max" using XDA's Google search engine.

I was looking for a true silent ringtone that I could add to certain contacts that I still wanted to know were calling but didn't want to hear. So I thought I could easily search for a "silent" ringtone. Sounded easy enough.
I saw several posts, here and on other forums, where people were looking for a silent ringtone, but the only ones I could find were the ringtone that "only kids could hear, not adults". You know the one where it is at such a high frequency that "anyone over 30ish". Well, what I was looking for was a truly silent ringtone. So I downloaded Audacity and decided to create one for myself.
I created a 30 second silent mp3 ringtone (in stereo, ). Now, I can add that custom ringtone to any contacts that I want. Since I had seen many requests for something like this on here and while googling, I decided to share with all.
And since I know how most people dislike RapidShare, I have attached the file to this post. Maybe others will find this as useful as I have.
Enjoy.

Very good, good solution.
tnx m8..
No problem, glad I could help.
I just found it weird that I was unable to find where anyone had done this before. I'm sure it has been but I just couldn't find any silent ringtones to download.
Great idea jwbrint!
I have recorded silence in the past on old phones BUT it always makes SOME noise.
Will download this now - GREAT
This is a great forum. I just found it. I am retired (old) so bear with me if I am a little slow on some things. I just got a Samsung M520 with Sprint and I want to setup a genuine silent ringer. I downloaded the attached silent ringer from this thread but the format has to be changed to something I have never heard of. I will paste in a copy of a post that describes the way the ringer has to be saved/formatted.
Would any of you younger more tech savy users be willing to convert this ringer to the proper format and attach it here for me? I am going to copy it to my SD card and then move it to the Samsung so that I can assign it. On this Samsung the ringer needs to appear as a video and then the phone will allow assigning and moving it. I know it works that way because I created a "video ringer" using my camcorder feature and this phone will allow ringers if they are "cloaked" as video. Go figure!
Paste:
Change the profile at the bottom of your program window to 3GPP2 - 3rd Generation Partnership Project (*.3g2). Change the "Destination" textbox to the place where you want your ringtone to save to. If you wish to save the property settings and destination, you can click on "Save As..." to save the profile. Now press the "encode" button. Once it finishes, goto your destination and find the file you just converted. Make sure your file is under 512kb. If it is not, lower the duration, bit rate, or sample rate. You're almost finished.
Now you'll need to transfer the converted file onto your phone memory using one of the three ways mentioned in the beginning. It MUST be in the following folder: \DCIM\100SSMED\. Look familiar? It's the same place where you store all of your pictures and videos.
End of paste.
My computer is old -- 500 meghz with 200 meg of Ram so some of this video stuff is beyond its capabilities. I am on XP. I don't know of a software for doing these conversions that runs well on under 150 meg of Ram. Open to suggestions.
Sorry to beg but if you can attach this here I'ld be appreciative. The file size has to be under 500 K so feel free to shorten the ringer time if you need to. Thanks in advance.
I am going to reading around here alot for the next couple of days. This place is cool.
it's interesting how 30 seconds of nothing can be almost half a meg!!!

320k silence .
Hello Fellas, I happen to come across this thread. Okay, help me with this. A silent ringtone? Are you trying to avoid a call? I mean do you set a ringtone for everyone else? Not trying to make fun just trying to understand the rational.
It comes in handy if you have a particular person (or persons) who call you on a regular basis, but your phone cannot ring... like when you're in a meeting.
it also helps if you want to have an sms notification but not a phone call notification
Thanks!
Great help for wrong numbers.
I get calls from an old lady who cant figure out how to reprogram her speed dail.
thanks!~!******
Thanks
I just downloaded the silence...ahhh...and applied it to a friend who calls WAY too much each day. Now if I could just stop this person from leaving me 10 messages a day on voice mail, arg!
Thank you so much!! I've been looking for this forever!! It works so well ^^
Thanks for nothing!! LOL
This is a very useful alternative of using commercial programs that can auto silent the blacklisted people, etc.
Smart!

Some call filtering applications are slow, so that phone still rings once before being silenced. SPB Phone Suite 1.3.1 is like this. If you know of one that does not have this problem, please share
And thanks to OP for the silent ringtone!
thx for sharing
awesome. thanks
The best ringer ever!
This wold be a fantastic app for the Diamond since we dont have a decent phone profile app working without the today plugin....
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc163341.aspx
Now that would be nice!
If anyone with development skills start to make such app i think wold be a real success and very handy...just dont know if is too hard to develop but seems like the article gives a lot of information about that. By the way if anyone want to start develop i'm a graphic designer and i'm willing to help (just private me).
Phone Profiles
If you run TF3D as an exe (Manila.exe) rather than a plugin. Then you can still run your Today plugins. I am using PhoneAlarmPro quite happily this way.
Profile changes happen ok even when running TF3D.
From that article ...
... The complete project, which is available for you to download from the MSDNĀ® Magazine Web site, contains ...

It seems the application, or the project at least, is already available online. I'm on run now, will try to find it later.
Already tried to find it but no luck...if you found something say something please...
Found the sourcecode
I've found the sourcecode for this application as well.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc135912.aspx It's in the october downloads!!
Can anybody make this into an installable cab file?
Regards,
MM
Humm, this could have an undesired effect: the phone is in a case or in the pocket of your pants, the program samples the ambient sound (but the mike is muffled by the case/pants), the algorithm decides that the ambient is awefully silent, the ringer is adjusted down, the phone is still in your pockets... so you miss the call!!!

Good point.
Any chance of .. using the light sensors capabilities to have a work around..
something like.. if sample detected is a silent environment then confirm with light sensor reading. If dark - keep volume high, else reduce volume.
With the light sensor in play.. it should (logically) avoid a too low alert for the morning alarm...
In CASE the alarm volume is going to be affected by the proposed application
Nice point with that..and the light sensor idea is very good...and could be completed with some task related to the clock. Defining the hour to awake and to sleep and weekdays...
So in dark area volume is always high?
Better thing to get used to put phone upside down in pocket Than use THAT sensor.
Yes ...but you have to remember to always put the phone upside down, but it can be an option..now we just need someone to compile a cab file and see what has been made on that app..
Any news? This is a great idea!!
hey everyone, i have a att tilt and was curious if i am able to change my ringer profile from normal to load like on other windows phone. Ive been searching and i haven't found a definite answer . thanks again steve
You can use SPB PhoneSuit. It has many profiles options and its customizable.
I think you will find this litlle app very helpful. (Phone Alarm) You can set like up to 10 custom profiles your phone, ie Work, Home, Theater. Then you can set it up so that either based of time or ur GPS position, the profile will automatically change. Or you can just make a simple silent profile and loud profile and then manually switch back and forth.
Does anybody know of a tool/software that always maps the scroll wheel to adjusting the sound volume?
ditto...i desperately need that.
when I was using Alex 6.0 Home Rom, the wheel did adjust the volume .I am not sure if that was due to the dialer he used....
subbin
need this too
Kick!
Anyone know such a tool? I browsed through other posts about it, but seems alot of people are looking for such a tool, but nobody knows one...
I couldn't increase the in-call volume due to the button broken, and I did not find any solution on the site. The solution or apps only work for ring tone or music play. So, I seach the registry and found this trick........ and hope no one post it yet. My first post and If I repost, i'm sorry.....
I assume you have a custome rom if not, I recommended you a great rom--- deepshinning http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271118)
go to the registry edit tool(download and install it if you don't have), find below entry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone\Vol
change the Dword to one of the below prefer volume 0--10. Make sure you restart your phone after you change the number.
10--->65535
9----->59418
8----->53301
7----->47185
6----->41068
5----->34952
4----->28835
3----->22718
2----->16602
1----->10485
0----->4369
only downside for this is you have to restart every time you change it. If someone great in programming, hope they can write one.......

there is an easier way also just blug in your headphones and decrease the volume by using the volume down button on them
an even easier option would me to adjust the volume via an application
e.g. Device Volume
