Guys i was wondering..i hate the lock app that comes with WM6...i dont like all the extra fitures they put with the one that came with WM6...is it possible to get the same lock app that is in the start > settings > personal > lock...that is exactly like the older one that came with WM5? with the new one that comes with WM6 you have to put the password in then tab a button at the buttom and all this other stuff...with the older WM5 one you just had to put in the password and the device would unlock..thats the type of password protected software i like..i dont wanna have to press anything else for my tilt to unlock after i put in my password...does anybody have a solutution that does this like how the old lock app used to do for WM5? plz help or if there is other software that immediatley unlocks the device after you just put in the password. PLz thanks guys

is there a way to make the wing run a program when u turn the phone on???
Copy a shortcut link of that progam into the \windows\startup folder
no im talking about like if u turn ur phone off and turn it back on when u unlock it and put u simpim( if u put one) without doing anything else some programs will start running (for example: htc album)......can u put the wing to do that?
Which program would you like to run after you switch on your Wing
Is your HTC Album really running every time you activate your device or was it just an example, just being a little confused here

make a shortcut to \windows\startup. then it should be started after softreset.
BUT pointui has some bugs - that it can be closed by tapping x - and once it is closed you have to enable it again. BUT it should start after suspend mode automaticly...

I'm looking for alternative ways to lock my phone's buttons and screen when I'm not using it. So far I've been using standard lock app (HTC Home plugin has a shortcut of a lock in the apps tab) and I'm not real happy about it.
I've tried S2U2 couple of months ago - but it didn't work for me for some reason. Searching the forum showed locked threads and some plugins for S2U2 but no real info about it.
What do you guys use? And where can I find a working version of S2U2?
Thanks =)
If you press the 'end call button' (which is red on my MDA Vario III) for a few seconds, it should lock your phone.
Yes, I do have that app. However, the unlocking is the same process as it is with standard WM method.
I've found the thread with latest S2U2, trying it out..
I'd like something that locked the phone (deactivate buttons & a security function), but that could be unlocked by pressing hardbuttons rather than swapping from buttons to screen.
I've got a demo version (in compiled basic using .NET 2.0), but it's not quick enough & still needs the code to allow for answering the phone if it rings. Anyone fancy converting it to something more native to WM6 (i.e. faster)?
S2U2 is what I use and I find it great. Can also be set up to keep GPS running.
Have you tried "Device Lock 1.2 by Matt Armstrong" its basically an extension of the device lock thats already on the phone (although having the standard device lock installed is not needed), with the added benifit of being able to configure via settings what happenes to the screen when run (blanked, suspend) and also allowing easy unlock (one press unlock) + more, does exactly what i need (except schedule/auto lock)....
Dark, did you disable directdraw? that might be why it didnt work for you

I didn't, unless it did so by itself. The v0.95 is working like a charm for me, I'm starting to get used to it =)
I use S2U2. It's an absolutely fantastic program.
So, I have the default ROM, the only thing I've ever really done on my phone is remove bloatware and instal HTC Home to give my today screen a fresher look. I heard that when you update to Windows 6.1 that the start menu should now appear on the bottom rather than the top left. I'm running 6.1 now and the button has not moved.
Also, my friend has a WinMo phone, on his phone using IE he can go to this website: http://www.digitalfuturesoft.com/dfttsmobilesdk.php and use the text box to enter words and have it synthesized into a sound file that is played through the media player. On my device the text box and drop down buttons never get rendered. His phone has nothing modified to it, at all. So I'm not sure what my phone is missing that his has...
Also, random... even though I don't use the default today screen, I did notice something odd. The top bar that list the date also listed the time. How could I get the phone to just show the date? Or is that just somthing the HTC Today cab did in order to let it function properly?
Thanks!
Edit: As of my last post, I discovered that the text to speech site will render correctly IF I'm connected to my computer via USB/Active Sync. But if I take out the USB and exit out of IE then try to load that site, I again find it never loads correctly.

I don't know where you heard that. The Start Menu is still at the top in WM 6.1

You can change this with KaiserTweak or PocketToolman.
I forget what website it was, but it listed that MS moved the start button to the bottom. I'll look into the tweak software to edit stuff further.
Now for the issue with IE. Is it missing some sort of Java plugin?
Hmm update.
I've discovered that the only way I can get this site to correctly render is when the phone is connected to my computer through Active Sync.
But when I remove it, close IE and reload it that page no longer renders....
So I hope that helps someone figure out why it's not working when disconnected from USB.
So does this mean theres some setting that I'm overlooking?
Hey there, kinda new and this is my first windows mobile phone so I am kinda new on this and this is also my first HTC. Got a few questions, hopefully anyone can spare some thoughts or solution on my questions.
1. From Settings > Communications > Phone; under the header [PIN/PIN2]. What is the PIN CODE? I looked into the manual and couldnt find it. So I only have 1 attempt left....
I tried Settings > All Settings > Personal Tab> Lock; and setup my own password for this already but doesnt seem to correspond with the PIN above.
Are the both the same thing or different functions?
2. Settings > All Settings > Personal Tab> Buttons; Seems the only option is Button 1 in the box and no other options? I am trying to figure out how to add or use another button like the holding the call button to silence/vibrate the phone.
Hope anyone can shed a light on this. Device is still new and there might more silly questions I have. gawd.
Cheers!
The PIN CODE is the password you need to type in when you startup yout phone(actually its the password to read your simcard)..
When you bought your SIM card you got a PIN, PIN2, PUK and PUK2 code..
lg nikolaus
thx for the info, but I guess i try once I get a new sim.
I rmb ppl mention there is the Magic 8 Ball on diamond 2 but I dont see it. Any clarification on this?
Answer to question 2: you can configure a lot more button actions, but you will need software like AE button plus for that.

Hi all I am new here due to first time with such an advanced function phone.
I have done a search in this forum ( Topaz only ) and came up nothing with quite the same problem I am having
I have a TD2/Topaz
I have lock unlock problem which I can seem to work out.
In Start/Settings/All Settings/Personal-Tab/lock
I utilised it to lock using a password, the phone is asking for the password every 30 seconds ( if unused ) even after entering the password.
Dose any body know how I can turn lock off ??
cheers in advance

The same way as it was locked. But don't have phone in hands right now,but try to go to the power settings and there should be an option "ask code on wake up" or something simmilar...
go to same place that you set lock, remove the tick of "Prompt if device unused for" and click "ok"

When i went back to Lock, I could not find my way back to that screen where you tick and make your password, ounce I had made the password I could not find my way back to this screen what do I press to get back to that screen.
Sorry for newbie type ??
cheers
Just to confirm that prridge is right... access to lock settings are curiously removed once lock is set. I think a hard reset is the way to go or you could also try 3rd party software.
Naughty WinMo 6.1
EDIT Ok this is weird: I pulled the stylus out as I was unlocking immediately after setting "lock" in "personal settings" and suddenly the settings appeared for the first time allowing changes... bizarre but true

Sorry folks, but seems lot of people do not even try to read out device manual.

According this thread, there are no problem to turn off Lock option or to change Lock time.
Take Start > Settings > All settings ... Personal tab ... Lock
