Please, can someone explain how to connect the Diamond to Internet when is connected to the PC with ActiveSync? I understand it is possible
Settings -> Communications -> Internet sharing
Your PC should connect now.
No - I think he means how to get the Diamond online through the PC's connection, not the PC through Diamond's connectivity.
On my diamond it is online whenever it is connected to a PC with activesync running. That's as long as the PC with activesync is connected to the internet.
I think you need to have advanced connectivity enabled under the device's ActiveSync settings.

Correct. It's enabled by default.

Sorry, this may be a dumb question...
How do you stop the Kaiser from accessing 3G (or WiFi) whilst connected to a PC via ActiveSync. So, duing the day it would use 3G, however when connected via ActivSync at night it would use the PC connection to the internet for all downloads, MS Exchange sync, etc
thanks!
There is a setting in activesync that will disallow all 'wireless' connections while the device is connected. In this case, I believe they mean 3g, gprs, wifi, etc. will all be disabled. It is under 'Connection Settings'.

For me, i would like the reverse.
I'm setting up activesync to connect to Exchange servers (mail2web), but in the connection settings, i can only see the choice "Internet" and nothing else (ie. my GPRS sets)
Thus, I can only get emails pushed to me when i am on WIFI, but not GPRS.
The only way i can make it happen is at START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS where i set "All programs that automatically connects to internet .." to my GPRS set, but not "MY WORK NETWORK"
but if i set it to my GPRS set, if i were to accidentally surf web when wifi is not on, it would incurr GPRS charges ..
any idea?
On the same topic...
I used to be able to surf the web on the HTC 8125, using the laptop's internet connection, using the USB cable. I can no longer do this? Any ideas? What happens now it that it the phone conects to GPRS automatically, apparently it can not detect the internet from the laptop...
Thx in advance.

is this setting perhaps the setting you need to turn on on your pc?
this allowed me to be active sync connected to my pc but the phone browsed via Cell Service rather than via my pc.

If your service provider uses a proxy setting on your phone to connect then you have to set up the same proxy in your web browser on your laptop.
Hi,
I have a basic question on how to use RNDIS interface in my Kaiser.
As per my understanding, as soon as i connect the Kaiser to my PC, i should see NDIS interface in the Network connections. Am i wrong here?
Or How do i use this feature?
Cheers
PS: I dont know if the following are relevant, but FYI:
1. I have had problems with ActiveSync - Retrieving settings screen forever when i connected for the first time, So i unchecked the "Enable advanced network functionality" in Start->Settings->USB to PC screen.
2. When i try Internet Sharing application, it works perfectly fine. If i am connected via Activesync, it first disconnects and then connects me to internet (via Local Area Connection of 10 Mbps speed, Cool, eh?)
Any comment on this??
There is probably a simple fix for this so I'm going to ask. When I have my phone connected to my computer via USB i am unable to surf the net on my phone or get weather updates...however...i can still recieve calls and get and send text messages. Is there a way to make it so that web browsing and weather tab updates are still functional while the phone is connected to the computer?
I've wondered this also. In addition I usually get a #777 error, complaining about the lack of a data connection.
Go to "mobile device settings" in your Windows Mobile Device Center and check the box that says "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC."
any idea how to do this on activesync? what you mentioned is for vista
oh im sorry i didnt realise you didnt have vista. I think there should be similar settings in the active sync. Probably in connection settings :/
Activesync>Connection Settings. Check "Allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop"
just got it.
you connect your diamond to pc with activesync, open connection setting and change the "this computer connect to" to "automatic".
and you need to tick the box "allow USB connection" as well.
Hi ,
I was playing with my Diamond and I have a strange situation ( for me at least) .
Some programs (AppToDate , WeatherWatcher , Windows Messenger ) doesn't get the updates on ActiveSync connection (internet connection seems off for those applications) , but over WI-Fi , yes .
I have check on under USB to PC "Enable advanced network functionality"
Some they work over both (Internet Explorer , Opera.. ).
Probably it's a setup thing , but I cannot figure out what.
Can somebody help me ?
Thanks,
did you enable MMS and internet sharing when you first did the ActivSync setup to the phone? If not, go to Start, then internet sharing, then for PC connection, choose USB. Hope this helps

Yes , they are both enabled , that's why I don't understand why some applications work with ActiveSync and others not. Actually all work with WIFI , but some doesn't with ActiveSync !?
Hi ,
I found the problem , but now I have another issue/question.
Under Settings> Connections > Advanced > Select Networks , I choose "My work Network " for "Programs that automatically connect to internet..."
It seems that all programs work when the USB is connected to PC.
Now the question is : Is the intenet comming through PC or is using the 3G ?
How could I check/see that ?
Thanks,
to be on the safe side, i would disable phone in comm. mang and then you will know it will be uusing the internet. If not, this may not work, turn your speakers on, if you heard sounds coming out of your speakers when your connected, then you are using 3G. it depends on your speakers if they have any interference. for me it does so i know when it is using 3G or not but I disable phone just to be safe.
I did turn off the phone connection and I got internet for my applications with ActiveSync.
It seems to be Ok now. I hope when they are both enabled (3G and ActiveSync connected) the ActiveSync is prioritized over 3G.
Thanks,
For some reason I dont seem to be able to browse web via my mobile browser while device is connected to Activesync (USB cable)
I've checked Allow Wireless Connection and disabled high speed syncing in Conenctions USB>PC on my Xperia.
This affects email and internet data connections and apps. In internet explorer and IRIS I get a 403 error.
I have activesync as "Computer connects to Work Network"
When I disconnect from Activesync I can browse as normal.
Having gone through the usual suspects and done a search I can't seem to find anything that addresses this particular iteration of the 403 error so would gratefully accept any suggest
You don't need the "Allow Wireless Connection when connected to the desktop" ticked. (Unless you want to use WiFi on the X1 while plugged in via ActiveSync).
My ActiveSync "This computer connects to" is set to "The internet", not Work Internet.
Allow USB connections.
On the X1,
Got to Settings, Connections Tab, USB to PC.
Make sure ActiveSync (Sync with outlook) is selected, then make sure "Enable advanced network functionality" it ticked.
cheers for your reply Steve. (good collection of apps too)
These are all options I've tried already (think I've tried every combi) and I end up with the same result - as i get not data connection when i connect the USB. If I open IE or IRIS beforehand and then connect as soon as I browse a new page I get the 403.
I'm sure this didnt happen last time I tried to browse this way but have no idea what could have changed. I thought it could be a connection settings thing - IRIS has loads of options for connections and I've tried all of this, all unsuccessfully. IE doesn't appear to have any options.
Anyone know of any tweaks or reg fixes?
duplicate post
one other thing - if I go to conenction amanger and try to activate Data connection while conencted to activesync, I get sent to the Settings > Connections screen. Data connection will not activate.
I can't offer anymore help Don't know what's up with yours.
cheers anyway steve. gonna wager on a reinstall of activesync and also try on my home pc to see if this is any different.
I know GP can block using device as modem/internet sharing, but this would be different so who knows?
interestingly I've just discovered that I'm still receiving emails when this problem occurs. I wonder if something could be preventing http requests?
just to recap, this works when synced with my home PC, but when synced with my works PC I can't access http via 3g/hsdpa, nor through the PC. I can however receive emails.
As the attachment shows, the phone is connected to the HSDPA and Activesync via USB.
I've reinstalled Activesync on this PC, and experienced an intermittent connection following this - however following this short period of activity the connection halted again.
