Well, same here, QuickGPS had never downloaded anything

Yesterday with T-Mobile Firmware all ok.
Today with Bepe Rom not download.
Firmware Problem ??
I have import my settings for Quickgps from org. Rom, nothing.
thx Menkul

The file is Xtra.bin.
Edit of registry follow by a soft reset doesn't works. So it should be something else.
HTC support suggested for the device to be hard reset , which did solve the problem. They did mention (under Activity ID 08SGCW28ENA000101) that they will feedback this problem back to their Technique Department.
But, it may be possible to manually download the Xtra.bin file manually, and then change the time stamp in the registry. If this hypothesis works, do post back.
Cheers.

hi there,
i'm also quite a newbie too, and i recently created a modified rom using Bal666's cool utility. i think i understand your problem with being unable to use the screen after a hard reset.
The problem is that the config.txt file runs a program called "tpdisable.exe" before installing the .cab files, to prevent users interfering with the install process. Simply delete this entry from config.txt in your extended rom image and burn again!
hope this helps!
thanx i will try and post u how it goes

PC crashed while updating ROM
does this make any difference - i've re-booted my laptop and am currently sat on the checking device info screen, how long does it take to check as its been a good 30 mins now..
any help appreciated
Put your device into bootloader mode before you try updating it, it might work a little better.
Remove the entries for tpenable and tpdisable from the config file and the rom itself.
If you want to stop those "This program is designed for...." screens, download WinCE CAB Manager and change the min and max OS versions to 4.21 and 5 respectively on the cabs you are putting into your extended rom.
Good luck.
HI pug thanks for reply, I have a question here...
When installing programs from ROM, some programs may need pressing "OK" to continue. Is there anyway this can be done automatically or can anything be changed in the cab file so we can stop that screen from comming up????
Any help apperciated.
Thanx in advance
Sorry PUG i think u already answered my question SORRY
changing the min and max os ver. with wince cab manager didn't work.probably b'coz the os detect the source build in version, not the cab version.

Perfect Timing!
Hi Faria,
Perfect timing to release this new beta rom just for the weekend. I'll be playing around with this ROM the coming weekend.
If you have some time, can you explain why the installation of this ROM has some manual actions like executing am autorun.exe from the My Documents folder.
I'll keep you informed about my results with this ROM.
Kind regards,
Nico Dekker

Great work. I'll download this rom today and test it.
I'll keep you informed about my results with this ROM and my bluetooth stereo
Just installed the new release. Very cool startup screens. Installation went flawlessly (install rom, run autorun.exe, run operator config). Paired my Plantronics 590 Stereo Headset and I'm now listening to music in strereo! Thanks for resolving this!
Post more as I try it out.
Thanks!!

sure,
due to this rom has the security desabled by default ,for some weird reason this autorun file does not work with comands from the extended rom.
but im trying to get rid of the auto run for good.
i does work if the rom has security enabled ,but then when it finishes installation it turns the rom security on by itself!!!!
i have allredy send this bug to the develpors of the autorun file.they are investigating.
plus i moved the autorun file from the extended rom because some testers could not run it in the last beta.
G3 device
Faria,
can I put this ROM to a G3 device ( IPL 2.26 SP 2.26, Molski 30 Mb ROM )
Thanks

it is safe since the rom has no bootloader integrated.but i dont know if u are able to install.since people with g4 have trouble installing 3.2. roms.
most liklely because is cid locked.
u can unlock cid in a g4 at imeicheck uk or something like that.
nevertheless a would keep an original rom from your carrier for recovery purposes or make an sd backup.

yes .u will have no trouble.
Working more with the ROM....
The operator config doesn't seem to be working for me. I did do the autorun.exe first and then ran it. At the end, it rebooted. I soft-reset and re-ran the operator file (USA_Cingular), and still don't see the definitions in the settings as I did with the last ROM release.
Ideas?

the last rom had 2 files for you carier.this one has one that i found in the xda.maybe thats the problem.if you want i can send you the last rom files.
Another item....
Registry Wizard doesn't seem to run: "Am unexpected error has occurred in Registry Wizard.exe." Related to the operator config?
Thanks!
Can't wait to test it!
After all the positive feedback I read from the initial testers, can't wait to test it myself.
Anyway Faria, thank you very much for investing the time and energy in these kind of initiatives!
Best regards,
Brian.

Are you referring to the tweaks.cab file you sent? I still have that. If not, yes, please send the files.
Thanks!

read the documents that i have email- you, and you will find out why is not working in your device.
the cab files for your operator are in the first post.
Hi,
Can I install in this rom the Ringo software. In the last one it made wizard crash, only with one hard-reset I solved that problem.
Thanks and great work
Just installed the version
So far so good. Works well. Installation took less than 10 minutes, and only got stuck at 99% for about 2 minutes.
One small thing that looks like a bug is when I try to close the task manager, it won't let me and then I have another task manager in the icons in the bottom of the screen. Is this a real problem or am I using it in the wrong way?
Download, and flash went along perfect. Followed directions exactly. After Extended Rom was installed, and device reset, got the error message "Cannot execute calnot.exe" Then installed my operator settings (US-Cingular) which evidently didnt work correctly - no big deal. After that soft reset, got the error message "cannot execute repllog.exe" I have since soft reset again, with no errors. Off the start, the only thing I see that I dont like is the new clock in the top right. It is cutting the year digit off. Is there a way to just revert back to the standard time? I have alos noticed the task manager quirk as described in the above post.

the task manager has been descussed in beta 3 that is the way it works.to exit taskmanager go to options/exit,
to remove the clok or date use registry wizard.

Registry tweak on the new dopod firmware

Dears,
anyone able to enable the hidden GPS, edit HTC homeplug, add disconnect button, etc working on the new rom ?
After I edit it, it seems to reset back to original state after soft reset.
can anyone give me some advise.
TIA
Registry tweaks work perfect with latest DOPOD D810 ROM,
but only if you wait about 30 seconds after changing the values - before Softreset. The OS need a little time to write the registry back to the device.
Seems to be a common WM5 issue.

Or, alternatively, just keep the power button depressed and answer Yes to the question. This will make sure everything is flushed back to the flash ROM, as has also been pointed out in my related article.
Thanks all, it's working as it said.
BTW, anyone here in Hong Kong using 3 3G ?
It seems the old mod to able to access mobile.three.com.hk is not working.
Anyone can give me advise on where in the registry to detect the browser version ?
The previous mod as below which is not working now with the new firmware.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
edit the "default" string as below:
SANYO-S103/1.000 UP.Browser/7.0.2.1.sn.1.222 (GUI) MMP/2.0

Again on quickgps

Hi to all,
some days ago I've posted searching a solution to a problem that many people have, the quick gps' failure to update.
I've tried all tips and tricks suggested here and in other forums because I don't want to do a hard reset, without lucky.
I want to try a last thing. IS there anyone thar can post as attachment his quickgps.exe file (obviously someone that has the quickgps going well ) ?
I want to try to overwrite my program file and see if something changes.
I've tried to delete it with TC but I'm not able to do it. So i'll try to overwrite it.
I have an italian rom (1.37) so quickgps coming from italian friends with italian rom are especially welcome
Thanks to all for the helps that can give me.
Dunno if you've tried this already, but when mine stops working I've found that if I run Internet Explorer and go to www.htc.com wait for it to load and then try again it will then load the quickGPS data.
Works everytime for me.
You're magic !!!!!
I had also read about open internet explorer first but it gave me error anyway.
But opening www.htc.com and then using quickgps it GOES !!!!
I don't know where you live but if it happens to you to be in Rome you have a beer payed
I had the same problem and it worked for me too. I couldn't use the youtube app or quick gps
now they both work
Thanks !!

... or "Esmertec Jbed"
Hi all, hope someone can help as I'm desperate to get this working.
I'm having the same issue trying to install betfair mobile.
I've tried installing Esmertec Jbed but am not sure how to get it working with Opera as it seems to install to IE. The problem being that Betfair send you a link in a text message to download the software, but the link opens in Opera by default, so I eventually get a message that my phone does not support Java.
Not sure if I've done everything right so would appreciate any help offered.
Thanks
Jeff
I think i've managed to sort the problem with IE, I changed the option to browse websites as 'mobile device' rather than 'desktop', but i'm still getting a 405 or 412 error on both IE and Opera.
Any ideas?
Can you download it ins a desktop and then install it on mobile?
No, it has to be done through the mobile.
Although i suppose it may be possible, if somebody has it working they may be able to send me a cab file?
The Betfair helpdesk seem to think it is network related, that the APN/GPRS settings need updating. Dont beleive that though, I have full 3g coverage
Can anybody tell me how to install JBed to Opera as it seems to install to IE by default.
Thanks
