Hi, I would like to open some .ISO file, do you know if there is a sort of virtual clone drive for windows mobile?
Thanks a Lot
maybe this will work
You can try pocket RAR (www.rarlabs.com)
good luck !
megasounds
.iso is an image disc... has nothing to do with windows mobile, unless its an image of a cd for some windows mobile apps or something like that.
Yeah ISO is a CD/DVD image. I'm thinking that since Windows Mobile Devices don't have a CD-Rom Drive, That You might not find a proper program for this.
win rar it is not working.
The file I would open is a cd image of a workshop manual for my motorcycle, you can imagine how usefull would be to take it always with you.
Thanks to everybody , by the way if someone knows how to do it please replay

ISO is a drive image, I've never seen PPC been able to open it. Where did this come from, what's its purpose. Were you sent this, or is this something your trying to do for yourself.
Thanks

Burn the ISO to a Disk Open the Disk and see if there is a PDF or DOC file for the manual. Then copy that to your desktop then to your PPC. Then Maybe it would work. If not, just give me your bike.
hey man... a little bit offtopic here but you shouldn't use your email address in your username or you'll end up receiving a massive amount of spam in the future.
Thanks I will change the nickname.
As far to the file concerns, I solved it. Since it open with explorer i copy all the file to the tilt and it works with the browser.
Thanks
To everybody.

Could anyone kindly advice how can I browse my PC's shared folder.
My PC & XDA-IIi (alpine) both are connected to the same router.

Come-on guys any advices or ideas.

GSFinder will do it I think. File menu.
Just provide it a UNC and it should browse away. Win CE has fairly good Network Drive support.

Here's gsfinder:

I've never tried this myself, just know the theory from a programming point of view. But check out:
http://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsnetworking/l/bldef_unc.htm
for details on what a UNC is. If you've got a Windows network setup, it should be straight forward.

I've always just done:
Start->Programs->File Explorer
Clicked on open down the bottom then typed in the path in the form of:
\\computername\sharename
For instance
\\mylaptop\games
i use resco file explorer and map the shared folders.
hi,
I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and I wanted to do OBEX file transfer through bluetooth by accessing my HTC S730 drive (I am able to do in my old Nokia 6280). However, I failed to do so. Do HTC S730 does not provie OBEX file transfer? or, is there any other way? I will hoping your warm reply. Thanks
OBEX
Do you look close enought? There is a option named OBEX File Transfer in Bluetooth-Options, enabling the Bluetooth-Explorer and share files in specific folder...
You have to take a look into your BT-Settings...and enable incoming beams...and dont ask me...
I dont know too much about it myself but if the phones BT is more up to date than your old phone you might need to update the software you are using to push?
Dont think Nokia runs WM so it might have functioned a little differently in their OS...
didn't read any of the posts:

does this help?
I'll length my post.

The value on the registry of my phone is 1. BTW, I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 and I am having difficulty on accessing my HTC S730 drive through my computer. But I am able to do same thing to my older Nokia phone. So my query is whether such feature is supported by WM6 or not? If my question is not clear, I will elaborate it further. Thanks for the reply.
What do you want to do?
What is it that you want to do? Browse the files on your S730 using Bluetooth? Send/Recieve specific files?
Since it is Linux and not Windows the phone might not be syncing properly, or might not be set up to browes the way your after through blue tooth alone...
Hi there,
I was just wondering if anyone knows of file storage sites that have mobile friendly pages. Something like DropBox would be ideal.
Today I am on a library computer and have a folder of word files I really want to read on my Magic on the train on my way home but can't use USB to mount my SD. I tried zipping and emailing it to myself but gmail didn't let me download the zip file. I had a preview option but that just tried and failed to open it in Astro. I love Zoho writer's mobile version for viewing files but that doesn't let me batch import. Most free backup services have hugely bloated web clients and wouldn't play nicely with a mobile browser.
Anyone heard of such services/apps?
Setup an FTP server at home and use AndFTP on your phone to connect to it. It's probably the easiest and then you also have full control over your own files. FileZilla server is free and fairly easy to setup.

For that you'd have to let your PC run when you're away... pretty useless.
You turn your computer off when you're away? :O
Pretty useless reply if I may say so.
@rahux: Did you try uploading files without zipping them? It may be a hassle if there are many files... Maybe you could just rename the zip file to .txt or something like that and you may be able to download it.

If it is just word files you want to view. Upload the files to google docs. Then get 'gdocs' from the market and away you go.
My apologies if had been mentioned before.
PC FILE DOWNLOAD on the market, works very well indeed. Just get it onto your phone as well as HFS on your computer and follow the set up instructions. Basically means you can connect your phone through USB and load files (other than pictures or music through Zune) off your computer. I got Adobe Reader and was finally able to load my entire PDF library. Once other format readers are available, I am sure the above tool will also be useful.
Easy to set up, few minutes and you'll be done. Enjoy!
grand merci ... thanks ...
Thanx for this. I was using windows live. This is sooo much faster and more managable. thanx!!!!!
Glad someone found it as useful as I did. I like to read books and inability to just load files on WP7 was a big handicap for me. Zune manages media files only and every other option was too cumbersome, especially if you have as many ebooks as I do.
Storage
Hi
i Like this ap
But i can't find where the files are stored
any idea?
Thanks
I just opened my Adobe Reader and all the books were there, so whatever is loaded in PDF format will be found in Documents. I guess if it's just docs in Word, you'll find them in Office. Or... you can use Explorer and check, I guess.

Hi there,
is there a way to associate a file ending to a certain app? That is, if the app does not appear in the suggested list of Android?
Thanks a lot!
File associations in android do not work like they do in Windows, and sometimes, they do not work well at all. Astro works for opening certain types of files. I think it uses a different scheme for determining which apps can open which files. Specifically, what type of file are you trying to open?

It's obvious I come from the Windows World, isn't it? I just started using Android a few weeks ago.
Anyway, thanks for the quick answer: I am trying to open a *.freshroute file with Navigon. In the navigation forum I was told that this might be a way to open files with Navigon in Android. This used to work with winmobile Navigon, but there seems to be no way to open files in Android Navigon. Now one user descibed that a file sent to an IOS Navigon by e-Mail opened the Navigon software and the route was there. So I thought maybe this works with Android too? And that is why I am looking for a way to associate a file with Navigon.
Thanks
Jürgen
I doubt you would be able to open files like this across platforms even if they had the same extensions. OS architectures are too different for an iOS file to be readily accessible on another platform and vice versa without some kind of conversion being necessary.
The file structure is not the problem as it is xml, so should be cross platform. I would only like to open this file with navigon, but do not know how.
Thanks anyway!

Does Navigon support xml files? If not, then there's no way to make it support them. If it does and still can't open it then there is obviously something about the file it does not like.
I was afraid someone would say something like this. Still thanks for keeping me from wasting more time on research.
Best regards
