Turn off Cell Radio, use voip? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I've configured the built in voip client win wm6 so that I'm now able to make and receive calls successfully. Since I work in an area with no cell reception but good wifi signal, this should allow me to receive calls while at work. Unfortunately, if I leave the cell radio on while at work it seems to drain the battery quickly as it searches for signal. I've tried turning off the 'phone' option in comm manager, but that seems to disable the voip phone as well.
Is it possible to turn off just the cell phone radio, and leave the voip phone enabled?

How to let the Diamond determine whether to use VoIP OR GSM?

My GSM provider happened to give me a contract in which i can dial every national mobile network for free as i am paying a fixed amount for that. But i have to pay extra for international networks and national fixed network. This is where my VoIP account should kick in, because it has much lower calling rates when trying to reach somebody out of these networks.
So as i mentioned in the Title, i would need to do some tuning with my VoIP and GSM accounts. I finally got VoIP and GPS working, now what i need is the dialer to determine which account to use when dialing different numbers, eg. i need my Diamond to dial via VoIP when i am calling international numbers or a number within the national fixed network. At the same time i want it to use my GSM Account for dialing to mobile networks. eg. it has to use the SIM card in case the dial format is +49 (1Yx) xxxxxxx, while Y is either 5,6 or 7. It should use the sip account in every other case.
So i assume that this problem might be solved with tuning the dialplan.xml, but since i have no experience in altering this file i am asking how to do it.
I also guess that editing entries within this file might give me the chance to use VoIP when dialing in international format, e.g. +1 555 727... instead of 001 555 727, as the dialer tells me that it isn't able to dial because it the phone number is not valid. As soon as i am entering the number without international country code it works fine.
Also there is the issue that the Diamond keeps turning off while talking on the phone, whether i am making a call through GSM or VoIP. In case of VoIP, my current calling connection drops because WLAN gets turned off as soon the Diamond goes into Standby mode.
Next problem is the Standby mode in general: As WLAN turns off when the Diamond goes to sleep, i am no longer logged in to my sip account. The result is that no one can call me when dialing my sip phone number.
So i would be grateful if somebody could at least help me with one of these problems. Thanks in advance!
1) about having the phone to decide automatically, according to your IP dialplan settings to use GSM or VoIP, I don't know much.
But you can always use the VoIP Today plugin to manually decide which one you'd like to use.
2)
regarding the phone switching to sleeping mode and by doing so dropping your wifi connexion, you can use DiamondTweak to modify your settings and avoiding this.
Whenever your phone will go to sleeping mode, the wifi connexion will remain active.
3)
No worry about third point, since your wifi connexion will not drop anymore.

Ho do you manually decide which one to use? I have installed VOIP today. I can select never to use VOIP. But I cannot force to use VOIP only. That is, my HTC Touch Diamond is deciding whether to use GSM or VOIP.

No 2G/3G while on calls...

I've noticed recently that I can't seem to access 2G/3G while on calls. I remember being able to do this with unrooted phone. Is there a feature or service I need to disable for this to work? I have wifi, gps, bluetooth all on at once, most of the time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Never ever seen edge/3g on my mytouch or my old g1 my g1 wasnt ever rooted the mytouch is and like I said I've never seen the data icon on while in a call are 100% certain that it used to be on?
I have 2/3g while on calls on my rooted g1. I think the issue is if you're on call, and hit a blind spot where you get disconnected from your data connection but not voice (this happens to be often). It will not reconnect the data connect edge or 3g until I end the voice call. I also get into this problem if i'm connected on wifi while i'm on call and leaves the wifi area, it'll not connect to 2/3 g until i end the voice connection.
you cannot use 2g + voice at the same time. only 3g

Any way to turn off "cell standby" usage ?

Hi. I only ever use Voice Over IP via Google Voice. I never use the built in cell phone. i assume that's what "Cell Standby" is when i check the battery usage. Is there any way to turn off just the cell phone so I can optimize battery usage? I'm on a Cyanogen nightly based off 2.3.4.
How do you use VoIP with Google Voice? GV itself is designed to use the carriers cell network and not their mobile data network.
And, from my understanding of things, Cell Standby monitors the power usage of the cellular radio used to connect to the cell towers. So if you are using VoIP through a mobile network, then you are still using the cellular radio.
On second thought, you're probably right and I misunderstood.
Try to turn on the airplane mode and see what's happen... But this is if you use an wi-fi connection, if you use mobile data you need cell network connection.

[Q] Tasker cannot turn off phone radio

I have low cellular signal in my house so i want to disable the phone's radio when on house wifi, but that option is "unavailable" in tasker.
Is there a work around to this? i know you can turn on airplane mode then turn back on wifi, but i want to know if there is a solution to just disable the radio.
Would this help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217038
Thanks.

I thought there was a plugin released recently that allowed something like this, sorry I can't find it though.
I have bad signal at home too so I just change over to 2g and battery does pretty well.
Why would you want to turn the radio off though? You won't receive calls/sms/anything.
Going to 2G and turning data off should be better surely?
signal is so weak that you can assume no signal at all in the house, so i'm not sure if just changing to 2g data is good enough since the phone will still continue to search for cellular signal which drains the battery.
i will try that at least for now and see if it helps, but ultimately, i do want to turn off the radio and leave on wifi.
i am able to receive calls via wifi through use of voip, receive sms via google voice.

Tmobile wifi calling issues when in airplane mode and on Delta flights with gogo

I recently purchased a brand new XT1103 64gb N6 and was hopeful to make this my daily driver, but having nothing but issues with this phone ever since I've started using it...in fact, it has been so horrible I went back to the LG G4 that I was using before the N6...my issues:
#1. Wifi calling - I have gotten this feature to work at home, but it won't work if I put the phone in airplane mode and connect to a wifi network. For example, on Delta flights that have internet they offer free tmobile texting...by following the directions and prompts, it says that I'm connected, but when I try to send a text it tells me to enable cellular network. On my LG G4, if I do the same procedure, it enables the wifi calling feature and displays the wifi calling icon and I'm able to send/receive texts. On the N6, this feature does not work. I have yet to see any discussion on XDA about using the N6 to text inflight on Delta flights. In addition, I was recently in Paris and tried to enable a wifi call and it gave me the same error...."please enable cellular network to make a call"...when I take the phone out of airplane mode and enable wifi calling (when connected to the hotel wifi), it thinks for a period of time then will allow a wifi call, but only if the cellular network is enabled...never in airplane mode with just wifi enabled. Is there something that is wrong with the N6 in regards to wifi calling? On my LG G4, if I put my phone in airplane mode and turn on the wifi, it will enable wifi calling if I connect to a wireless network. Overseas it's imperative that I'm using a wifi call since TMO charges 20 cents/min on the cell network, but having to enable the cellular network forces me to initiate a call before I see that it's making a wifi call. I am not happy about the wifi calling implementation on the N6 and wish it was more like every other TMO phone I have used in the past...
#2. Signal quality and battery life - as noted in many posts, the signal is horrible and continually bounces around. I've followed several recommendations and have done the following when I received the phone - opened the box, flashed TMO 5.1.1 rom and rebooted with my TMO sim...phone did several updates, then updated to Marshmallow...signal was extremely weak anywhere I used the phone (I live in central Iowa and they only have HSPA+) TMO has not turned on LTE in my area of Iowa...I went to Chicago and experienced the same issues...fast battery drain and poor signal....I flashed Pure Nexus 6.0 and TMO 5.1.1 radio and experienced the same issues so instead of getting a headache messing with the phone, I just went to a local tmo store and got a new sim chip for my LG G4 and have been using it without issue for the last couple of days...It worked much better in Paris and maintained a better cell signal in Paris and I was able to make several wifi calls in airplane mode at the hotel there...
Can anyone share their thoughts and help me improve my experience with this phone? I really like the camera, screen, and feel of the N6, but I can't have a phone with poor signal, poor battery, and faulty wifi calling. Thanks in advance. Nick
wifi calling has never worked for me in airplane mode.. is it supposed to, i dont think so? and it sounds like you live in a small city or in the country? it sounds like it when youre talking about your signal. i live in nyc, and am on tmobile, and i am always connected to lte. my signal never changes, except on one spot on a highway near the ocean. other than that, my signal is perfect. anyways, you can flash and try different n6 radios. some work better for some and worse for others. and you dont need root to flash radios, but you do need to use fastboot.

I had the same issue using GoGo on the first flight.
At home, make a few calls when connected to WiFi. In settings/More, Switch from WiFi preferred to Cellular preferred, and go back to home (clicking ok as needed). Then, switch back to Wi-Fi preferred, (toggle the on/off slider at the top as well). Make a call again while connected to WiFi (make sure it shows WiFi calling).
Now, on your next flight, (in airplane mode, enable WiFi) connect to the gogo internet (use the initial splash page to select T-Mo texting/WiFi, captcha etc). Then, try texting - it should work. (it did for me)
I haven't tried WiFi calling from overseas, so can't comment - but I know I'd just use hangouts (or skype) to call.
I'll give that a try when I get home from my trip...I did try making a few wifi calls at home, but I didn't cycle the wifi calling feature...I will roll back the update to the stock TMO 5.1.1 and see how it works...
Quick question, is there a way to not install the 6.0 OTA from tmo? I'm guessing that I can just ignore it...N
