I have an 8MB SDHC card in my TyTn II and was contemplating using Windows Media Player Synch. It says in the manual that you can aslo synch the storage card but regardless of what I try I cannot get WMP on the PC to see the storage card?? When I use Windows Explorer on the PC I can see and navigate to it and examine the content in it, but not with Windows Media Player? I have a My Music folder on the card and there are WMA and MP3 files in there.
Is it a WMP glitch perhaps or is there something I should have done (card formatting - it's a brand new card though, never been in another device) or perhaps need to do???
I recently had the same problem: I could view the contents of my 8GB Sandisk in File Manager, Total Commander or Resco Explorer, I could create, update and use the library in HTC Audio Manager, but WMP could not see the storage card and therefore could not update the library (it could work from its saved record of the library before I deleted that).
At the same time, Outlook began having problems. Any time I would try to open an attachment (attachments are stored on the storage card) it would take several minutes to open and the application (usually Word) would be so sluggish as to be unusable. Also, Pocket Player was taking about 5 minutes to start up (I'm assuming that it was doing a library scan before opening).
The only thing that fixed it for me was flashing a new ROM. Hard reset and restoring a backup did not work and decided that if I was going to hard reset and start setting up again from scratch, which might work, then I might as well try a new ROM.

What version of WMP do you have on the PC and what OS? What you want worked OK for me with a Win XP Pro SP3 PC using WMP 11 and AS 4.5. WMP even categorised all my MP3s into individual artist folders on the card (6 GB Sandisk). WMP 11 saw my TyTN II and because I wanted to transfer more than the remaining internal storage space on my TyTN II worth of MP3s across, was clever enough to automatically put them all on the card.
I might try the ROM/WM 6.1 upgrade from the HTC site. I have it downloaded but was reluctant to install bearing in mind the various problem threads.
I am running Windiows Vista Business and have Media Player 11. It seems odd that Windows Explorer can see the Storage Card but not Media Player. I cannot add it by browsing via 'Add to Library' either. Not too crticial for me as there are other methods (indeed other players) to get music across but it's one of those things that now I know it's not working - I'd like to fix).

Each time I open Windows Media Player after rebooting on my Tilt, I have to re-add all of the files by telling it to search for media. All of the media is on my 8gb microSD card in Storage card\My Documents\My Muisc, My videos, My movies. Is there a way to map it to these locations in the registry?
The HTC Audio Manager and TCPMP seem to remember where media files are.
The Tilt is Unlucked with a Dutty ROM.
Look in Windows Startup and see if there is any cleaners or anything.
In Windows\Startup I have:
Voice Command.lnk
QuickMenu.lnk
VCDaemon.lnk
A2DPStart.exe
IMStartup.exe
none seem to be cleaning programs.
I do have ClearTemp installed but noting about Windows Media in it's options.
Should Windows Media save playlists when the media is on a card?
Disregard, Problem Solved

Its just the way I was looking for the playlist.
It has all my media in it now.
Thanks
Hello everyone - I think either I've missed posts on this, my "buzz words" are not correct, OR... it's only MY issue.
Trying to download and play MP3s. The download perfectly to my computer. Now...
1. Took FOREVER to Active Sync the files over to MY DOCUMENTS for my device. Is there another way?
2. Now that they're over there, I successfully move them to my storage card. When I ask Media Player to "update the library", it pulls everything in to include my voice commands for TOM TOM!
3. I want to create a playlist, but for some reason I don't know how. I click on MY PLAYLISTS (selecting Storage Card of course), and it finds NOTHING!
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
Do you have a memory card reader for your computer? if so just load everything up on your memory card and just put it in your phone
No card reader I'm afraid. My wife has a Treo 650, and the files just FLY right over when she syncs. And now that the files are OVER there, I can't put them in a play list. I guess I don't know how. And I'm searching the net fevorishly trying to find out! The Treo 650 uses Real Player, and I'm using the Media Player that came with Dutty's 4/29 hybrid.

Try plugging the device into the computer, click on explore, mobile device, storage card, create a my music folder in there, then just select the songs you want to move, drag and drop them. It does take a little while to transfer, especially if the music files are good quality. After that is done, open windows media player search for new tunes, make sure it is searching in storage card, my music. That should do it. I never use activesync to move files. btw htc media player is very basic and doesn't have play lists wmp does.
I'd like to synchronize some multimedia files with my htc diamond. The problem is that from Windows Media Player it only shows the phone memory, not the whole 4 GB of the included card.
To make full use of the whole 4Gb, i'd like my media files to be stored in the internal storage card.
Has someone faced this issue?
Thanks!
hello All. once i flash a new rom, all my music that i have on my storage card no longer plays, i have to delete and reinstall. i have a Napster to go account, which lets me download all the music i want and install on my device. these are all licensed tracks, even though i transfer music to my storage card, the license is put on the device. this is not a problem if i install music from a cd to my card, that music continues to work after a rom flash.
does anyone have a clue where in the registry the license might go that i might copy the registry and then reinstall after the rom flash. not even sure that this would work, but its worth a try. i have about 7gb of music, the transfer takes about 5-6 hours.
thanks
Lupe
are you making sure you are reimporting them into windows media player they don't do it automatically... or are you getting an error message..........
it could also have to do with format, the cook could have removed the driver for that type of media when stripping the rom
Greetings.
I have a problem putting movies on my diamond. I use activeSync, try to put movie on it but it says "convereting (none)".
Whats the problem? I have Combined community codec pack on my computer.
Thanks in advance

Are you saying you are trying to get ActiveSync to convert your movies to a playable format?
EDIT: Yeah what rumple said- just drag and drop them to your internal storage.. Little confused by your original post.
Movies are in *.avi format. Last time I did it, I dragged and dropped them on my internal storage and the active sync program from windows XP converted it by itself, now it doesnt want to.
edit: I did that yes, but its not being converted anymore. Now it looks like: the copying line goes to 30% and then get back to 0% again and it repeats all the time.

When you rip the movies from DVD you should make the AVI with optimum settings for your diamond. This way you will not need any conversion again when copying files over and have the best quality and appropriate size for your device.
as for why your file transfer keeps going back to 0% i dont know, but you could use a file explorer on your phone to see if the file size of the movie you copy is increasing (because the file is still copying) then you could tell if the percent reading is a bug or if it is true, because maybe your file is still copying OK.
File is still copying good when I use file transfer.
And I put not movie from dvd, just some other downloaded movies.
But still, I shouldn't require to convert it by myself. ActiveSync should do it by itself.
can anyone help me?
i have never had anything actually convert when using Activesync to copy files over...
copied a 702mb .avi to it yesterday (using activesync), then copied back off (using Diamond as a USB stick) and it hadnt changed at all!
it says "converting and copying" but i have never had and files (pictures, videos, Word Documents etc) change...
I'm using TLR 3 rom, maybe thats a problem?
I'm still lost as to what conversion you think is taking place with ActiveSync.
Download, create, or edit the video on your computer. Hook up your diamond, and copy the file over to the internal storage in the phone.
Disconnect the phone, bring up media player and watch the video.
Unless I'm misunderstanding you somewhere it should be as simple as that.
You said you have community codec installed on your PC, but that has nothing to do with ActiveSync.
Unless ActiveSync has some secret video conversion talents I am unaware of, it is simply just going to let you transfer the ready to play file to the memory on the phone.
Well. You put the file on your phone while being ActiveSync'ed and there pops up a window where it shows converting and copying loading bars. The whole conversation takes place in windows media player becouse ActiveSync uses it for converting. But even in windows media player the file doesn't want to be converted.
---
And I belive your codecs affect converting, becouse without good ones - conversation won't be possible.

Do yourself a favor and download Super C http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
Use it for your conversions then just copy your movies to the Diamond and be done with it.......
