has anyone else got a vario III and noticed that there is no msn/live messenger installed? is there a legit way of getting this on there?
also, when viewing text messages, can i replace the function of the left soft key - its currently set to delete, but on the previous vario II it was new - so i find myself constantly trying to delete messages when trying to write a new one. and its also a friggin pain in the ass to go through the menu selection to start a new text....
any help is much appreciated guys..
A couple of minutes with the forum search function will answer all your questions.
i did try and search it but can't find the answers to these few things... have found other stuff though that has been useful..
edit: i've found a cab for WLM, but still cant resolve the soft key issue in messaging... so if anyone knows... !
Im also looking for this anyone?
Toilet-Duck, Windows live mobile is available here - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Software/
Rob.
Theres been a windows live cab uploaded on coolsmartphone.com
Heres the link for the thread: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11696
And heres the link for the direct download (off megaupload.com)

Word of warning, when I installed this app on my phone, it worked fine. However, downloading this app will install both, what seems to be an outdated version of windows live, and also windows messenger onto your phone (well with me it did anyway). But when I decided I didn't want it anymore on my MDA Vario III and tried to uninstall it, the app still remained on my programmes list, but faded out- kind of like if you were to click on a document on your computer, and click on 'cut'.
This problem meant I had to hard reset my device to get rid of any trace of windows live messenger.
Hi,
today I got my MDA compact Iv from T-Mobile, which is basically the HTC Touch Diamond.
I was so excited about this new phone and it's new features.
But I missed the Windows Live Messenger, which I need.
So far I used the MDA compact I, which got the old MSN Messenger.
I guess T-Mobile deleted it. Even with Hard reset and reset befor T-Mobile installs it's fancy software there were no Messenger.
Can you help me install it?
Thank you for your help
Idea
Any idea???
A site where to download or the files which I need???
try to setup in email settings a windows_live account first...
it will have been taken out of the ROM.
you can either install a cook rom with it in, or try and find a live messenger cab... i'm sure there is one..

edit - see above
just to make it easy for ya
go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405728
scroll down about 3 roms (its one of the lite ones and there is a link for extra applications)
download that rar file and it will have messenger in it. and it should work fine.
Hey mattie01,
this is the first messenger running on my device. Alle the cabs from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334621 didn't work.
The messenger starts not, but I can't log in.
I still can't creat a live mail account. When I click sign in messenger says, that there is a connectivity problem, even if a connection is open.
I hate T-Mobile for deleting it!
This one worked for me on a dutch MDA compact IV:

jo Patrickw_mdav,
thanks alot.. This is really working!!!
King regards

Duttys worked for me
www.duttythroy.net additional cab downloads section - this worked on all roms i flashed so far!
EDIT - NB - site is down I have cab if anyone wants it...
I have jus spent 4 hours trying to get a version of windows live messenger to install and work on my phone.
I have just bought a MDA compact IV on t-mobile and it is running WM6.1
I've downloaded various files and some of the cab files will install but won't launch the app, and others just won't install.
Is there a version of windows messenger or third party app that will install directly onto a standard phone?
I been reading about changing roms ect, but could see a clear guide that would give me the confidence so as not to turn phone into a brick! I would prefer to leave phone standard for now!
Cheers
Andy

Excellent, all installed and working.
When I have more time I will certainly be having a closer look round this forum!
Thanks for your help

hello beermonster
can i ask you what did you exactly install to let messenger work properly.
I have exactly the same problems as you had, í've tried seferal versions off Windows live mobile, the latest one ( version 10.6.0034.0800 ) has messenger installed, but nothings happens when i click on the messenger-icon in "programs". Did you did a Rom update?
Has anyone been able to install Yahoo Go! 3 beta on their Diamond?
When I install the cab the text keeps over-writting itself (perhaps I don't have the the correct cab for Diamond??) Ican sort off "fudge" it but it still bounces me out and shuts down...very frustrating
Anyway, if someone has a cab that works correctly I would appreciate a share...
Thanks
Nobody using Yahoo Go 3
I have the same problem.
Yahoo go 3 a no go for me.
Me too, slow and weird overwriting text. Gave up with them and support didn't want to know.
Same problem here; its a pity because Yahoo! Go is such a good package. Hope Yahoo or HTC will do something about it soon.
I will routinely keep downloading the latest CAB's (if I can find 'em) and trying installs....they're bound to get it right somtime......aren't they?!?!?
Java ME Issue?
Hi Folks,
I've the same problem on my O2 XDA Diamond, too.
IMHO it's not a problem of Yahoo Go! but the Java ME on the Diamond.
Has anybody tried to use any other Java ME JRE on the Diamond?

Click to collapse
Actually it is not the JRE. The one supplied with the diamond is Sun Certified so should be allright.
The problem is the Yahoo Go! application which uses a .net java-hack dll thingie. This dll is in effect a midlet wrapper for .net and simply is not working very well.
In other words: it is (as per usual) a Microsoft problem.
anyone get this to work? its as if its the wrong size? it just doesnt work right after instasll
Because Yahoo Go! is still not supported for our HTC Diamond as yet.
Hello,
as today any update ?
Yahoo go beta 3
Even i had the same problem after installing new ROM upgrade. but after uninstalling it completely from my HTC Diamond (even remove folder from /program files/yahoo go) I again downloaded it from yahoo website and installed. Now its working properly.
Error is because we uninstall program but system folder is not deleted.
Try this. May ur problem get solved.
I've searched all over for a working solution to the LIVE Messenger app that comes stock in some phones. I had Dutty's fixed version on my Tilt, but noow that I just got my new Touch pro today, It wont open... Other solutions had me install the official with no IM, then install a diffrent cab with messenger, but messenger wont connect to save my life...
Anyone have an actual working solution that isnt IM+... I really like the real app...
I was going to make a cab of the latest version of Live + Messenger that i've seen, but I saw someone already had in a search on xda.. search for "10.6.42.1900" you should find it..
Well I did find that particular release, and no go... it installs, but won't launch... Brand new phone too... still running the stock rom.. could it be a VGA thing?
I'm using this on My HTC Fuze and it works fine.
Hi HTCFAN0923,
This one worked in my ATT Fuze.
Thanks a lot.
