Delete Bluetooth Folder - how do I remove it? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Inadvertently clicked Bluetooth Explorer in programs. This created a folder called Bluetooth which appears conspicuously beside Internal Storage and Main Memory when I browse to the phone from my PC. File explorer on the PC and phone will not let me delete the folder
Q How can I change the properties of this folder so I can delete it. I rarely use BT and it do not want this folder in my face.
A Simply reboot the phone. bluetooth folder dissappears. Must be transient in nature. Worked out the answer before even posting. But will post here in case anyone else has the same problem. Will go back to being a noob..

Rebooting didn't delete it on my case... I have 2, not 1. BLUETOOTH and BLUETOOTH2!
Here is a fix: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
[HKCU\Software\HTC\BluetoothFolder]
"EnableClient" = dword:00000000
I used Total Commander's Registry Editor plugin and changed the value from 1 to 0 and rebooted phone. Fixed.

Keep your CAB files after installation

Default behaviour of WM5 is to delete .cab files after you installed a program. It saves space on your device, but if you need to reinstall programs for any reason, you'll have to put the .cab file on your device again.
There is a registry entry that controls this behaviour:
Use Total Commander to navigate to HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\nDynamicDelete
Assign a value of 0 if you want to keep the original .cab after installation, assign a value of 1 if you want it to be removed after installation.
Perform a soft reset by holding the Power Button for 5 seconds and confirming.
If you chose to keep .cab files after their installation, it might be a good idea to keep them in a seperate folder on your Memory Card. That will keep them available for you even after a hard reset. Don't forget to change the registry setting after a hard reset thought, otherwise the .cab files will be wiped from your Memory Card after installation, which would put you right back where you started from.
if u like this trick of mine ...then please do reply....
Tried this using RegEdit. My default was set 2. I changed it to 0 then 1 and both times the app was deleted from my Card. I just use my PC as a backup source and an extra folder DWNLDSBK as the backup on my Card.
I don't understand why the RegEdit change did not work. Thanks for posting the info.
Cab files
Well, simply make the cab file as read only when copying to the device.
I genrally copy installation cabs to a seprerate folder on the mem card and install from there.
Works for me....

Deleting Bluetooth Folder in "My Device"

When I went to install a CAB noticed that I had a third option to install to, besides Main Memory and Storage Card, it was Bluetooth. I went to the File Explorer and noticed that there is a Bluetooth folder in My Device. I have no idea how this folder was created, but I have no use for Bluetooth and want to delete it!
When I try to delete it in the File Explorer it says access denied. When I go to Total Commander and delete it, the screen flashes, but the folder remains.. in the properties window none of the attributes are checked, and the in ROM attribute is grayed out.
Please Help! Thanks.
thats probably just a generic folder for any bluetooth storage devices (if there be such a thing). If you have no use for it, just leave it alone. It's not taking any space (well, maybe a couple bytes, but thats nothing)

Click to collapse
Are you sure it freezes? Mine just takes *ages* to finish that stage.
But yes, delete that folder and you'll be able to rebuild your library from scratch.

Delete the folder (that he said above) via file explorer. You can usually find the folder in the root of your storage card. Works everytime. G/L.
unable to find the hidden folder WMDRM, used the search program on my phone asnd still no luck . do i have to sync my tilt and delete it thru the cpu.
If you are using the standard file explorer, make sure that you have the "show all files" option switched on.
i wish it was that simple
yeah it is. win i pulled up winrar to un rar a file i saw it as a folder but i can't get to it. still haven't sync phone, @ wrk
If it 1 thing its another

after this it updating says it found 2087 files but only adds the file save to the phone not the memory card. doeas this sound familiar to any one
yeah use Total Commander or another "good" file explorer. & remove the "WMDRM" folder... it should be in the root folder of your SD card...
even then, if you have a TON of mp3's you may have to wait 5 minutes while it updates... I've had to reboot when it freezes & its hard to tell when its just taking forever & when its frozen :S
If that STILL doesn't work, try putting your files back on your desktop computer, then put your SD card in your computer, and re-transferring them that way.
Hope that helps

Device Lock still grayed out after following other procedures

Hi!
As I were trying to link up my X1 to my works exchange-server, I was forced to check the "Prompt if device is unused" checkbox. As I was growing more and more irritaded over having to enter the code every time I use the phone, I wanted to get rid of it.
As I was finding posts telling me that this was becaus of the exchange server forcing this checkbox, I deleted the connection to exchange.
But the checkbox is still grayed out. Is there any way without having to hard reset the phone I could fix this?
There is a way to "circumvent" the Exchange policy - albeit temporarily
Similar questions have been asked before, so I managed to locate this solution - in theory, if you're no longer talking to the Exchange server, the undoing of the policy settings should stick (and you'll get your checkbox back)
OK, read THIS post and may all your troubles be little ones....
Hope that helps,
Mark.
There is another one, very similar program which resets the registry key once in a while, so it doesnt bug you anymore.
Stay Unlock 2
If your device doesnt have an english OS, then the prog wont run out of the box, you have to tweak it (the path \Program Files is hardcoded unfortunately). Instructions:
Create the folder "\Program Files"
Go to the program folder on your device (\Programme, \Programmes, \Programmi, ...) and make a copy of the "Zenyee" folder in your newly created "\Program Files" folder
Now go and run the config utility, it will work
What it should look like:
Code:
\
\Application Data
\Documents and Settings
\My Documents
\Programme
\Zenyee (<- original folder)
\Program Files
\Zenyee (<- copied folder, duplicate)
\Windows
etc etc

Strange problem: Folders changed to .exe

Something strange happened: If I open my file explorer (GSExplorer, file explorer or bluetooth explorer) and I navigate to Internal Memory, I can't open the folders that are inside anymore.
For some reason, the extension of the folders inside have changed to .exe. When I click on them I get the error-message "My Documents.exe 'My Documents' is not a valid Pocket-PC application".
If I connect my Diamond to my pc I can browse the folders but instead of opening on the already open folder, it opens a new window. It's like the My Documents.exe file is a Shortcut to itself and can only be opened if I browse my Diamond on the pc.
The strange thing is that I haven't changed a thing since 2 months ago and the problem only occured a week ago. The ROM installed is the dutch AZTOR ROM and software I installed include Advanced Condiguration tool, GAlarm, GSFinder and Gyrator.
I don't know if it's relevant, but if I connect my diamond to the pc, there's a new option in the popup (the one where you can chose to explore the diamond, copy images to a folder, ...) It's called "Run Recycle.exe. I searched a bit more about recycle.exe and it appears to be spyware but I haven't found how to remove this spyware.
I'd really appreciate a solution to this problem and I'd also like to know how it happened. I could reload the ROM on my diamond but 2 months laters, it could happen again...
Thanks in advance.
it seems to me that you're infected with a virus... do a scan with your favorite antivirus/spyware and see how it goes.
Same thing happened to me, but in laptop not in ppc
Then it was virus, that was making an exe file in the name of the folders. But for PPC, I'm not very sure. But guess it's the same...suggest to check the system with a good antivirus....
Allright thanks.
I think the virus is gone now, but the folders are still in .exe. Can I remove this extension? I tried properties in GSFinder, but no luck...
