hey there...
i have a problem with my GPS in my diamond
i installed the SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V4.0 - CE OS 5.2.19965 (BUILD 19965.1.2.3) ROM
but now my tomtom cant find any GPS signal and niether can HTC GPS TOOL..
Am i doing anything wrong or is it a problem with the ROM i Upgraded from a Danish ROM
Thanks in advance
Buusgug
Did you do a hard reset AFTER flashing?
yep, it happened to me also, an hard reset should resolve, in any case I suggest you to install the utility "GPSTest" (google to find it).
that program is useful because it is able to "renew" the gps status, after installation just launch it (outside of course) and let the program to automatically check your GPS status (1st time it can take 2 or more minutes), when you see at least 3 sat aligned simply close the program, shutdown the phone (NOT soft reset) and then after reboot launch tomtom and you'll see that it will recognize again the gps module.
bye,
davide
i dont think it is fault that you did not do a hard reset after flashing your rom, neither did i.
You should run the htc gps tool with cold start for a while (3-4 mins minimum), then ur TT can find gps.

The same story here, except that I used GoogleMap. It took a long time for GPS to get a fix and when it did, it found only a few satellites. The reception was also poor with a lot of lagging. And yes, I forgot to make a hardreset after flashing.
I just installed http://www.efficasoft.com/gpsutilities/index_wm_ppc.html and this program got an immediate fix to 12 satellites. I then rebooted and noticed that also GoogleMap was OK now. Why? Someone else may explain.
Untick "Auto search Bluetooth GPS receiver"
Set "COM Port" to COM4.
Set "Baud Rate" to 4800.
hello everybody
im having a very wiered problem since today, i have flashed the new 1.93 NLD stock rom, and the gps decided not to work anymore, i did everything possible, hardresetting, reflashing the rom, but nothing helped, i also installed this HTC tool, and let it running for a while, nothing changed, i deiced to leave google maps runnign for a while, it turned a message saying that my GPS device is having torubles finding a GPS signal.
does that sound familiar to anybody,,, actually what makes it wierede, the programs can see the GPS chip, i mean in tomtom and google maps, but only the device, no signal.
Best regards
Kevin
Always remember to do a hard-reset after installing a new rom.
- I have tried several times that my gps were "stuck". My sollution is the Htc Gps tool (Find it here: http://maritime-billeder.dk/htc-diamond.html). With that you can choose to do a warm or a cold start. This gives the gps chip a kick, and almost always fixes the problem.

hi there,
I have my diamond for almost a week now. On the first day everything worked fine. The gps got a fix, took it a while but it worked. On the second day of playing with it i decided i wanted to try a cooked rom.
I installed hardSPL (oliNex 1.40) and then tried dyttys 1.8 rom. All worked fine except for the GPS. It wasn't even finding it (the nav soft nor the gps test tool).
So i upraded the radio to 08 (in duttys rom it's 07). Same thing.
Next thing was installing panosha's shine on 1.5 rom (including radio 08).
Then i actually managed to see the gps, but it couldn't get a fix. So i tried radio 05. The gps was found but no fix... after hard reset once i got a fix, which took really long time, like 5-10 minutes. After next reboot nothing... Even the gps was not seen by the apps.
Now I'm on panosha's shine on 1.6 (still radio 05). Now the apps can see the gps, but it won't fix.
What to do? Try another hardspl? try another rom? try another radio? maybe try some tweaks?
Or maybe the gps is broken? But it worked!
Help me out please guys.

It think it has nothing to do with the hardSPL but u could try olinex 1.93
For roms, try swiftBLs or maybe christonges ct.

Well well well, there seems to be some problem...
I have exactly the same: no GPS fix but still seeing the sats, then no sats anymore.
I installed Dutty's 1.8 too yesterday and after that CT's.
Now back to a stock ROM including Stock SPL, but no GPS anymore...
I'm afraid I have to send my device for repair.
What do we have in common? We both flashed Dutty's 1.8, we both changed radio's (I went from .08 to .05).
Are there more victims out there???
look here... i will try this now
Don't know how about you... but it worked for me. ..at least for now. I got a fix.
Try it - soft reset your gps!

After every ROM flash, you need to cold boot your GPS.
This is why the first time you have to wait 5-10 minutes to get a fix.
You can always use HTC GPS Tool or any similar app to cold boot.
ok, it helped only for a while. I then installed skype, google maps, maybe something else, synced with outlook and now gps cannot be found. Even by htc_gps_tool. It now says "failed to send NMEA command".
GPS Test scans ports and stops at com4 (this is the gps port)... and nothing happens. Hard reset of the device does not help.
Any ideas? Just 1h ago gps seemed to work

Do you have AGPS enabled? If so, disable it.
I WOULD recommend to start everything from the beginning:
1: flash a radio (.08)
2: flash a vanilla ROM (DON'T install anything else apart from HTC GPS tool)
3: Try getting a fix with this setup. We'll then know if it's a hardware problem or just your fiddling.
So don't touch the hardspl? If it works it works and i shouldn't change it?
What do you mean by "a vanilla rom". Any rom with vanilla=tflo3d? If so, what if this rom has radio in it (dytty's 1.8 has radio 07).
ps: how to change agps setting? I used pocket toolman now... had to install it... and guess what: agps was off. I turned in on rebooted and turned it off again. Didn't help.
Thanx for the interest in my problem Awaiting further instructions.

I have tested a bit this night. Flashed duttys 1.8, tried and it works, installed loads of apps and tried again and there it is, no gps fix.
I did a hard reset and flashed the .05 radio and then swiftBLs 6.0 lite rom. Nothing, no gps fix. Did another hard reset and flashed an official rom, and it works normal. Another hard reset and back to swiftBLs rom and got no problems.
atm i´m so lol

Just did the same you did (flash to an official ROM, including stock SPL, so everything back to the original state. Still no more GPS fix. GPSTest gives a few low signals but not enought for fix. Tried it outside for half an hour.
My device goed back for repair.
I'm sure soft reset of gps would help.
I just did new radio flash + new rom flash + soft reset of gps and it worked.
The I was installing my packages + configuring my device doing reboot after each small change to see if gps still works. It stopped working after installing win6voip.cab
Will try again to verify that
I had the same prob. And even when i had a fix it loses the fix and then it fixed agian so on and so on. Had it with igo8 and tom tom 7 and a smal program to see gps reception.
I switched back to radio .05 and used rom sc (skippycentraal) v2.8 (dutch language, is perfect for me cause i'm from holland )
I't works perfect, in about 20 to 30 sec outside getting a fix.
sometimes i'll even get a fix indoors
I think its a problem with the roms with the new radios, but the reason for the gps problems itself is affected by some applications.
Ummm a bit worrying..... I must admit after frying my Hermes with a new radio and then my Polaris after flashing a compatable radio from another device I´m a little vary now. I´ve stuck with .05 for a while now and I´ve been flashing between 5-10 times a day for the last few weeks and TomTom has been fixing everytime no issues whatsoever.

how do you softreset GPS???
Use htc gps tool. Use function->chip->Q7200, set baud rate and port and click "open port". Next use function->set mode->cold start and get outside for 10 minutes with the device configured not to shut down/go to sleep (power settings). It should get a fix.
Back to my case: I flashed again and did the gps cold start. Then installed all the stuff I wanted + configured everything checking if gps is still getting a fix after each install/reboot. It still does. Ofcourse this time I did not install win6voip.cab. So I guess this package was the one "spoiling" my gps.
Will try to tweak my voip in win manually tomorrow. Hope it works because I have a SIP account I would like to use on my diamond.

Also did that, no fix... GPS definitely is broken, back to repair.
GPS no signal
God damn it...
everyone keeps flashing ROMs etc and I thought it was safe, I have exactly the same problem as pietrucci
and now I read that flashing everything back to stock doesn't fix the GPS ...
that REALLY PISSES ME OFF
there seems to be no information on how to properly "restart" the GPS so to make it work.
also from a technical point of view, how can you possibly "break" the GPS by installing hardSPL and another ROM, without even touching the Radio?
this problem better get a fix somehow and lets hope we (me, pietrucci and evilskanker) are able to fix it, or I will stop flashing untested **** altogether. it's fun as long as it works, but if someone reports a problem that is suddenly an exception, then things start to get quite a bit less safe as you see!
just my 2 cents.
Hi.
I don't know how Qualcomm GPS works, but users of Eten X650 are having same problem. (My previos phone was X650, SirfStarIII) After some reflashing GPS is broken. We make it working by dispacing battery from phone for 36 hr. So all GPS settings were reset. Someone ever short-circuit contacts of battery on the phone for this time. Try this if everything didn't help before going to service.

Ok, I'm wiling to try everything. I'll leave the battery out for some days.
What do you mean by short-circuit the battery contacts, just hold a piece of iron on the phone contacts? Or do something with the battery itself? Doesn't that damage the device or battery?
By the way: I'm can't tell for sure my broken GPS was caused by flashing. But it was right after my last flash (Dutty v1.8) that is was dead. Everything I did after that (flashing to other ROMS, to stock ROMS, hardresets, GPS resets) was to try to get life in my GPS. But as you know now, without any effect.
All in all I believe it has to do with flashing but not 100% sure...
Since I bought my Diamond, last week, I haven't been able to get a single fix.
Even worse, although my GPS is detected as running by every GPS soft, there is only one sattelit bar active at a time.
(about 10 satelits are being sensed, but only one is actually sending datas to my device, every time...)
I've never expericenced such problems with my preivous triny. There were always at least 3 or more bars moving up and down at a time, and at the end I could get some fix.
- either it is a hardware problem and I got a crap GPS chipset...
- or it is a setting problem with my ROM.
By the way, in the External GPS settings screen, I have strange infos:
Port GPS: com4 which is normal, GPS Material Port: None!!
baud rate: 4800 (which I think is very low, but I heard everybody has got the same)
What's wrong with my device?
Seems to be lots of posts on this issue...a nice simple one is to flash a new radio.....if that doesn't work do a Hard Reset (to be sure!) and restore to minimum and see if it runs.....then move on from there....
I've been having a similar problem with my Raphael (it takes a million, billion years to get a lock and even then it's only 3 satellites).
I deleted the 2 GPSlog files in the Windows folder, did a soft reset, ran QuickGPS and then tried Google Maps again. I got a lock in about 10 seconds with 8 satellites.
Now, I've only been able to test it once and will have a go again tomorrow but it's easier than a radio flash or hard reset!
Harry
Thanks for the replies!
- I've been doing many hard resets these days, due to some problems with Asian Fonts. So, this is not the problem.
I may go for the radio flashing as u suggest.
By the way, I've noticed you're using the x.x.8 radio, are you satisfied with it? I read many are going back to x.x.5 cause they it has poor performances.
-The GPS log files sounds good. I've never tried this but I may give it a try.
I tried to reset the GPS logs from within the soft I was using, but it did not improve anything, looks like the GPS only receives the list of satelits, but no localisation datas at all...

I have a similar problem from time to time.A lot of data received from 10-12 satellites but a fix only after a long long time. In comparison with the Garmin Gps I have the sensitivity of the Diamond GPS receiver is good, but the algoritm is not. Diamond radio is .05
I have the same problem if i delete the log file and update with quick GPS.
It seems that the algorithm in the radio sometimes is not able to converge easily to a fix.
My tomtom was working just Excellent on my diamond, than i did a hard reset and no gps, 1 bar for over 1 hour, so reflashed the same rom again 1.93.405 still same problem, so flashed 1.93.401 and bingo it works again. after a nother hard reset 1.93 401 rom gps wont work angin, this time the 1.93 405 rom fixed it. ( all WWE roms)
no idea why this happend.. when the diamond gps works its excellent (better than most tomtom units) but thants only when it works.
as the gps feature is very importent to me, i now have a back up bluetooth gps incase inbuilt gps fails.
and with out quick gps i find its aloms impossible to get a lock.
I only hope HTC fic this issue if not this will have been my first and last HTC product.
Any tips welcomed
Hi mates,
First of all thanks for the link and the goodies, in fact I had already found some datas since many Diamond users seem to have similiar problems with their device.
I agree this is obviously a mistake of HTC to have put a defectuous part in their phone.
1) My problem even went worse yesterday after I flashed the last HK WWE ROM: my GPS wasn't even sensed by the softs!
No NMEA datas blabla...
2)
many hard reset and reflash couldn't fix the problem. I was about to give up when i found info about that HTC GPS TOOL I had never heard about.
After using it for quite a while, at least my GPS was finally sensed and 'some' datas received, though it wasn't enough to get a proper satelit bar, not to mention a fix...
3)
So now I'm back to the same point: no fix or proper reception available, although I'm already quite happy that my GPS is detected again!
3)
I got back to the same stock radio, x.x.5 but no matter which one I use, I can't see when I'm going to have a a fix with that whimsical GPS!
SOLVED!!!
I finally found a solution to wake up my sleeping (beauty) GPS.
The most helpful infos were in that post below, but I did pick other datas here and there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2563369&postcount=6
The funniest thing is that this problem looks like a hardware one, but in fact it's all software related. A problem of configuration, due to the A-GPS function probably.
From what I understand, if you use A-GPS (I mean if you really have access to this special service through your phone operator) everything is fine.
If you don't, then you may get into big troubles like I and many others did...
1) make sure A-GPS function is desactivated (nothing to do with the Quick GPS function)
2)
... just follow the instructions provided by the Oijkn on the link above.
3)
delete as well the file(s) GPSlogs.txt in the windows directory
4)
soft reset
5)
enjoy a very efficient GPS

Hi,
I am using the original ROM 1.93 and I have installed Destinator 7 with Greek maps (2008). I don't know why, but the GPS loses its signal instantly and then everything is fine. This happens after a certain number of seconds and it is repeated.
Does anyone know hot to fix this?
Thank you.

I have had the same thing.
Turn OFF your AGPS with advance config.
If that doens't help, give it a hard reset.

try with radio .07 (you wont loose anything), it catches gps signal quiker...

Here is my experience, where I noticed the GPS problems disappear completely.
From day 1, when I got my Diamong, first thing I did, without testing the GPS with shipped older official ROM, was to flash to SwiftBL ROM ... great ROM I have to say. But then I noticed that I had fix-no-fix-fix-no-fix (lags) problem, as well as the fixing itself taking up to 10-15 minutes. I tried newer SwiftBL ROMS, tried switching A-GPS, tried using .07 and .08 radios .... nothing, problem persisted.
I went back to .05 radio, and this time flashed with Dutty's Full v2 ROM ... very very fast and neat ROM. The ROM has A-GPS switched off from start. I did one hard-reset after flashing ROM, as Dutty recommends, and guess what ... no lags and fix within 10-20 seconds.
What was the problem .... I sinserely do not know, whether the combination of ROM+Radio+A-GPS! ..... main thing being now my GPS is fast at fixing, signal quality high and no lags.
Hope this helps.
cpootjes, because of the work load I managed to visit the site today!!
I activated A-GPS after a hard reset. I didn't even think that this could be a problem! However, I will test it and I will post the result..
Thanks anyway..
cpootjes, having activated A-GPS caused the problem (as you told me)..
Thanks again !!
Folks, since you have Destinator 7 installed and running, I hope you can help me... I cannot get mey Destinator Portal to see my internal storage, so I can install my maps there. Any suggestion ?
I'm experiencing what i think is a sudden dead of the gps. 2 Days ago i went went on a trip using tomtom and when i wanted to go back 4 hours later i couldn't get a fix. This happens to me now and then and the solution for this is a softreset.
I tried a soft reset 3 times but nothing changed. Then i went in tomtom's gps setting menu and i didn't see any grey or other collered satelite indicators. But the orange led is showing so the hardware is turned on and the phone also get warm as normal when using gps.
Even GpsTest can't find any satelites.
I really don't understand what happend because i didn't play with any of the settings what so ever.
I've now tried a couple of thing to get gps to work again but nothing helped
1. Did a hard reset.
2. changed spl
3. changed Radio
4. Changes Rom
Now what else could i do to make it work again because i need it very hard for my work. I'm a driving instructer in the netherlands and my students may need te use navigation on their exam. But the must use it during lessons to get acquainted.
My Setup:
HardSpl 3.29
Radio 1.65.24.36
Rom L26 KaiserDiamond Throttle Launcher Beta 6
I've had my Tomtom misbehave on a couple of occasions even with a standard HTC ROM/setup. The last time it happened I hard reset the device, reinstalled Tomtom Navigator 6.032 and it worked fine but as you've already tried a hard reset (presumably after the Radio upgrade - if not, try) all I can suggest is to check your Radio and Rom are listed as being compatible and to try it out, while still in an open field, immediately after manually downloading the QuickGPS update and a soft reset.
GPSGate can jump start your GPS receiver. I had this problem when I was running alex's rom. I thought my GPS died unless I ran GPSGate. Now I flashed to Garmin DK3final ROM with 1.65.20.29 radio I can use TOMTOM without using GPSGate.

I don't understand it. Really
TomTom and GpsTest can't get a cold-fix on it's own anymore. But i found by coincidence that cold starting with Google maps works perfectly. And the TomTom an GpsTest also work without problems. So it seems like the same thing you described with GPSGate.
It's still weird that it happened so suddenly wile it was working perfect before. But i will try Garmin DK3final ROM as well and see what happens.
Thanks for the help
My gps is currently not working and i don't know why. Can any one help?
Device info
ROM version - 1.94.405.1 WWE

1) Soft reset
2) Turn off remove battery for 10 mins then start up again
i tried that but it still cant find any satellites.
i tried in a different location and it worked.
thanks!
I had the same problem with both a Diamond and a Fuze, and went into Programs/QuickGPS/Options and unchecked all three boxes. closed the program out and mine started working each time.
my diamons's gps do not work too.
Could somebody help me. I try QuickGPS (download update), HTC GPS Tool (cold and worm start) but any fix.
