a replacement for the included FAX VIEWER? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Now that we have such a good machine, much better UI (thanks to TF3D). I don't understand why we can't make use of the new picture viewer program to open picture attachment. The included FAX VIEWER is totally suck, can't drag and drop, can't magnify using the scroll wheel. :<

What included Fax Viewer? I have no included Fax Viewer

I mean the "default picture viewing program" that pops up when you click on a picture email attachment.

Faxes thru TyTN II

Is there a particular app that allows the Kaiser (TyTN II) to send faxes? I have several PDF documents a word documents that need to be sent as a fax.
How is it possible?
I would also like to know this info. That would be sweet if I could fax signed docs right from my Tilt.
bump for more interest
possible fax soution
Efax offers free fax numbers which can be used for both send and receiving via your email program and they have a handheld client. Give it a look.
https://www.efax.com/en/efax/twa/page/wirelessFaxing
I think that it has been said many times in different threads that starting WM5 none of the devices have fax capability.
1) There is no software available you can use to send faxes directly from your WM5 / WM6 device
2) These devices cannot be used as a fax modem to send faxes from a PC Program like WinFax Pro
Regards
I believe the devices are fax capable.
Fax
I use myfax. I have a word doc or excel or pdf on my device and send it to [email protected] (where xxxxxxxxxx is the fax number to send the fax). To get faxes I have them sent as an attachment via email or a number which in my case I chose a toll free number. The plan is for 10$/month flat.
This is worth looking into... I have no complaints yet.

Ok well thats the next best thing!
So how do you send a pdf file? As I understand it, the fax I send needs to be in the form of an email . i,e: no word, image or pdf attachments. Or am I mistaken? Have you tried it?
Yes, you CAN send PDF files!
I've just started looking into this, so the MyFax offering was very appealing....according to their FAQ, the following is true....
2. Can I send multiple documents in one fax?
Yes, you can send up to eight documents in one fax as attachments. MyFax supports 48 different file formats, including PDF, Microsoft Word and Excel.

So it looks as though you send an email and attach the file(s) you want faxed; this is pretty much like the Captaris Rightfax software I use in the office.
I'm in the UK, so I'll take a look at the UK offering from MyFax and see if it's the same as the US....
Mark.

Right, you send it as an email and add the document to send as an attachment. Any faxes
you receive will be attachments in pdf format. I use this every day in the field. Works great if you don't have a printer available to print docs...just send 'em to a nearby fax machine.
This solution also supports many different file formats...too many to list here. Check it out.

HTML Email - embedded content useless

Anyone else notice that when you receive an email that has an embedded picture, excel chart, diagrams etc, it automatically resizes/shrinks the content to fit your screen (just as in Pocket IE), but when doing this it actually makes the embedded content unreadable and unusable... and unlike pocket ie, there is no option to resize it to it's original size.
Because of this, im beginning to wonder just how useful HTML email is in the 1st place? Just to view colored fonts?
Any way to get the "do not resize" option in HTML mail, just as there is in HTML ie?
Thanks.

zoom text in sms or emails

i just found today that you can zomm in or out the text size when reading an email or sms, just open the email or sms and scroll the botom jog right or left!!! nice
Marc-André
This also works in Opera, Camera and the Photo album
Very nice feature indeed
Just checked out the registry, and this apparently also works with the following:
Adobe Reader
Album
Camera
Google Maps
Copilot
PaPaGo
PaPaGo2
MP3 Trimmer
Notes
Outlook Email
Streaming Media
TomTom
Windows Media
Excel Mobile
Word Mobile
Word Mobile2 (???)
Youtube
Oh, wow. That's handy. I wonder if HTC have designed the software such that the list of programs that the zoom works with is easily expandable...
Could someone explain how to do this again, please?

Yahoo GO! will allow you to login with one touch, and then upload your most recent photos pretty fast.
It uses flickr.
SPB Imageer will allow you to upload your photos to a online account:
Features
* One-click slideshow with smooth transitions
* Multiple thumbnail options
* Picture editing (red-eye, brightness, contrast, and more)
* Storage card notification with common tasks
* Batch optimizing of photos
* Web publishing (Flickr, Fotki.com, and more)
* Album creation and sharing
* Rich picture notes (text, drawing, and sound)
* Powerful screenshot tool
Not free though: $14.95 US
Dashwire is pretty good too
Here is a roundabout but effective way with a flickr account and a twitter account (gotta love twitter when its up!).
Try http://flickr.twittergram.com/
Actually this is more than you want. You can just email or SMS to your flickr account, and/or use twittergram to have the flickr update reflected in your twitter update stream so friends can get notified as well. Ah thats a mouthful ...
shozu is an awesome app. It will run in the background and pop up after you snap a photo. It will let you automatically send the photo to a lot of sites (flickr/youtube/BBC) as well as automatically send them to a FTP or email address. It is pretty useful. I used to use it to upload photos to my wordpress site automatically.

[Q] How to save/download pics from email/web

I realize I'll probably get yelled at because the answer is probably somewhere painfully obvious, although I've searched and haven't found anything... How exactly do you save/downloads pictures from the browser or email, etc to your phone? I tried to do a long press and wait for the option to come up, but just isn't happening for me.
Please be nice, it's been a long day... :-/ lol
I struggled with this myself...
for the browser it is long press/hold and an option will come up, but if your at the mobile version of the website you wont be able to (except for some sites) if you switch to desktop view (full html) you will get the long press/hold options.
Email (gmail client) I have not been able to figure it out not sure if there is a way to, except for clicking the attachment and let it open on your phone then save as within the program that opened the attachment or picture, or open gmail in the browser
hope this helps a little, If someone else knows a way please shed some light
I'm trying out 2.2 and have the default email client (not Gmail) set up to sync with an exchange server. I can't open jpg files sent as attachments. I can open other formats (pdf, doc, etc).
I assume this is because the email client doesn't think there's an app set to default for jpg files, but Gallery and Astro both have viewers and open just fine when I click on a jpg file already on my device.
Does anyone know where/how I set the default jpg viewer in such a way that the email client recognizes it?
Thanks!

black moon doesn't seem to work with the default email app (not gmail). It's probably the apps problem. I don't see any way to preview on attachment. As I posted earlier,I only have this problem with jpegs. I can open other files attachments. The open/preview button just isn't there on the jpeg attachments. But thanks for the suggestions!
I was able to open email, pull down notification bar, tap down arrow of attachments, option to save or open attachment.
