Soft Resets randomly during use? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
Had my Diamond about a month now, flashed a few Roms and have stuck with whats in my signiture.
The problem i have is that occasionaly it decides to do a soft reset while it is in the middle of being used! i have Hard SPL 1.40 Dev edition. It does it no matter which ROM i'm using.
any ideas?
Cheers,

no one????

***BUMP***

Well I had a glitch here or there, but sorted all that now.
If you keep getting soft resets with the original firmware then suggest RMA.

RMA...?
i have flashed different ROMs/SPLs and always had the same problem.

Do you have any processes loaded at startup that can be responsible for this? Or perhaps a tweak you always use?

no i dont ever do the same thing, all i do is flash a ROM, have contacts from Sim card.... never back anything up lol

In about 5 weeks of use (stock ROM) the phone did reset once or twice, but that's about it.
If yours is doing that often, then perhaps it has a hardware problem, considering that it happens with different ROMs.

yeh, returning to stock ROM/SPL etc now to return to HTC....

And then they have a look at it, don't see a soft-reset occuring, flash the phone and return it to you... If the failure is hard to reproduce don't send it back. You will get your phone back after three weeks and nothing happened.
Soft resets looks more like a software problem, not a hardware.

I got my diamond yesterday and didnt flash a new rom. Still stuck with the old one, but it also has done some softresets randomly. I didnt even install any apps. Any ideas?

is my tilt defective (do I exchange)?

I have been having a large number of lock up's (black screens that the only way I can recover from is a soft reset). It is happening about once every 2 days. I have been using various roms but mostly dutty's (various versions).
Now I installed dutty's cube rom and it doesn't seem to work for me as it does for others. I can only get it to respond correctly about 30% of the time. While others claim it is working great.
Do you think I have a defective tilt in some way? I have a 30 day exchange from newegg so if it is, I need to return it soon.
Any thoughts or ideas? (FYI, it still does it after I have done a hard reset).
Most likely to be a defective rom... but difficult for you to return it if you ant put the original rom back on?
Try flashing the rom again.
Do you notice these same issues before you start installing all of your programs after a hard reset or ROM change? In my experience issues like this can be caused by an application that isn't playing nice.

After my last hard reset, I did not install any other programs (just running dutty's new rom) and I am still getting the ocassional black screen lockup.
Put it back to factory settings and factory rom (how ever it was delivered), then see if you have the same problem. If you do, replace it or be unhappy for a long time

20 Softresets a day, solution?

I've got big problems with my Kaiser,
Almost everytime it falls in Standby mode, i can't reactivate it with the On/Off button. But the green LED is still blinking.
i've got the original HTC ROM 1.56.407.3
Does anybody have same problems? Or has anybody a solution for that problem.
It really bugs to restart it 20 times a day...
change to a different rom
and which one?
Any one...
I know it doesn't help and not very informative, but any of them sounds like it'd be better than what you have now.
I'm quite new here and have no idea which rom is good and stable.
Are there newer original ROMs from HTC?
Or which one would you propose?
I wood prefer one in German

if you want a stable rom try Sleuth's v1.1
is it in german?
Same happened to me some days ago... but I solved it with a hard reset. Now it works perfectly again.
Take a look at those 2 threads, maybe they help....

Soft Resets
Had the same problem, tried new ROM's, hard resets...etc..etc. Problem fixed by changing SIM card from a three (or four) year old sim to the latest available. Everything running perfectly now!
I'd agree, it's not the ROM. I'm using it since day 1 and haven't even needed a hard reset yet. I want to try Sleuth's but the stock is so stable I'm not feeling the need to jump. I'd check your SIM as mentioned and them maybe a hard reset and a carefull watch of what you install back on the phone to see if it's a rogue application.

ROM 1.93 and crashes !

This is the second time in two days.
After upgrading my Diamond to official ROM 1.93 ITA it happened for the second time (so far) that it crashed while it was in standby. I couldn't receive calls/sms nor turn it on pushing the power button. I had to remove battery, wait a few seconds and then re-insert it soft-resetting the device.
Did anyone experienced the same problem ?
I've never had such a problem on the 1.93 WWE ROM.
Work Ok for me no problem so far, did you make a hard reset after you flash the rom? I allways make that after a flash even twice
I installed the .93 official ITA rom from HTC site three days agò and no problem so far.
I have had also one 'hang' when the device came out of stand-by. The screen was messed up and the device hang completely. I did it a soft reset and it worked again.
Take out Sim Card and hard reset.
help foor ?
where would i find my sim card and how would i remove it? I have the
Sprint HTC Diamond
My diamond keeps resetting itself to the splashscreen page and goes no further. I try to hard reset and it will just get me to the same splash screen as I got before and it won't go any further into the hard reset.
I think that if i can get it to do the hard reset, that i would be ok and be able to get rid of the ROM that seemed to cause this situation. I had last put SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-0-Full-16MbPP on my unit and this started happening right after it was done.
I am open to any suggestions that any of you have for me. I haven't been without a phone or my pda for many years and don't know how long i can go without before happens.

The problem with your phone is that you used a rom that is intended for the GSM version Diamond, and the Sprint one you got is a CDMA, so there's no SIM card in the Diamond you got. You should just try to get into bootloader and go from there...
sorry, wasn't able to find a thread that addressed this. I can't get into bootloader. any idea's how to get into it other than the vol down/reset?
Nevermind. Sprint is sending me a new one. they said it was looped and nothing can be done.

Tilt reboots constantly after 6.1 upgrade

I have an At&T Tilt. the phone worked absolutely fine until I decided to do the 6.1 upgrade on it. Now the phone reboots itself on it's own. Let me clarify that statement. It shuts the phone off, then I have to power it back on. Sometimes a few times in a row. It will do it when I am talking on the phone, using my GPS or browsing the mobile web. It doesn't discriminate. Has anyone else had this problem? These are the versions I have on my phone... am I missing an update somewhere or is this something I have to live with? Thanks for your help.
R 1.65.21.18
G 25.88.40.05H
D 3.57.00.00
l haven't had any problems like that. I just switched back everything on my phone to stock . but than again i went all the way back to wm6 ... lol
If your phone is still under warranty just get an exchange or try reflashing the rom upgrade and see if that fixes your problem.
also on a note: did you remember to hard reset your phone after upgrade?
upgrade
I will try to re-install the upgrade. I did do a hard reset afterwards the first time. It's pretty annoying for my wife (amusing to me) when she calls and our call drops in the middle of our conversation. Hopefully the reinstall will fix this. I'll keep you posted.
Did this get resolved? I am having the same issues...
I am having this issue on 2 phones. One was a 6.0 tilt that I upgraded (and hard reset after). The other is a 6.1 phone that I was sent from At&t after an RMA. They both reboot 5-10 times a day, or sometimes they turn off and won't come back until I plug them in. Any ideas?
One more thing to add here. Did you install a WM6.1 ROM or did you install a ROM/Radio Combo?
Just note that 6.0 radios will never play nice with 6.1 roms
Also, what spl are you using ? Stock oem?
by any chance do u have a memory card in the device. if so remove it and use the reset button to boot it. this may very solve the problem. I've experienced it
My tilt did this also. I found that it was due to HTC home customizer. It took about 20 hard resets to figure it out tho. After installin HHC the phone would reboot over and over again. I reinstalled everything over except for HHC and working fine now.

Help needed! All roms keep hard-resetting themselves after a few hours!

Hello everyone, I don't know if this is the right place for asking this, but I'm in quite a big problem.
I've had my HTC Diamond since December and I've flashed it to several different roms many times since then. Never had any problem at all.
But during the past two weeks my phone just started acting crazy. It would all of a sudden crash and even if I took out the battery and placed it in again, it wouldn't boot up. I'd have to wait until I got back home to flash the ROM again, so I could keep using the phone.
BUT the problem is that ever since then the ROM keeps hard-resetting itself every few hours. Sometimes it might last for a day or two without doing anything weird. But all of a sudden it might just crash, and when rebooting the phone would act as if it was the first time running the phone (you know, with the screen calibration, time settings and all... and then having to import all of my contacts and calendar again, not to mention any application).
This hard-reset also happens randomly when I turn the phone off and on again. Sometimes it loads up normally, sometimes it goes to factory settings again.
Now, I wouldn't be so worried if this wasn't happening WITH EVERY SINGLE ROM that I'm trying. Both Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 roms. Even those that I've used in the past without any problem. They all hard-reset themselves at some point or crash and get unable to boot until I flash another ROM again.
I've also tried fully hard-resetting the phone myself -both the phone memory and the internal memory- and even flashing different Hard-SPLs and Radios.
It still goes on the same though.
Anyone has any suggestions?
Or is my phone dead forever now?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Have you tried to instal stock roms? If they work, install cooked rom with the same version as stock. Might help.
I have the same problem since a few days... Have you solved it yet?
I'm having extactly the same strange issues... Does anyone have any idea on why this is happening? I'm going out crazy!
This happens sometimes after you've installed numerous ROM's.
You'll need to use an app called 'Mtty' to sort out the problem, then flash ROM again and it should work fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-231190.html
Look on google/do some research before using to make sure you understand what it is mtty.exe is, and how to use it.
thank you for your quick answer cymru, but i resolved flashing a stock rom and then reflashing the cooked one ad suggested by kosherpig.
Bye!
