Rom flash & initial rom... - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi!
I am using a French Orange HTC Touch Diamond.
I need to have more space in main memory, because lots of app need to be installed in main memory (msn, tomtom, ...)
The problem is that the original rom doesnt gives enough space...
Another thing, I'm sure that some rom optimised batteries...
So, I will change for a custom Rom.
My questions :
- the "start > Settings > clear data" (effacer les données in french) reinstall system....how does it work? If I flash my rom, this functionnality reinstall le initial rom? or le new one?
- if this is the new one, is it possible to get back initial rom? where to download?
- any advice for a custom rom? (for french Orange pack)
Thanks a lot!
bye
Sylvain

I've got TT7 installed in storage and it works no problem.

I install every soft in the internal storage and everything works fine TT all spb programs etc. Only programs which are asking to be specifically stored in the main I install them there.

UK Orange Extended ROM please....

Trinity crashed big time this weekend and could only rescue it by installing the new HTC ROM. Can someone post the UK Orange Extended ROM please... just so I can get my original setup back. Should be easy to copy it using Trinityhacks 0.2 for UK users...
Thanks,
K
here you are my fellow Orange UK customer.
how would i use this if i ever needed to i also have a spv m700 but am using the new htc rom
Thanks
Robert
that is a bit of an open question really.
It depends what you wanted to do. If for example you just wanted to install all the orange customizations over again then you could unlock your extended rom and copy the contents of this zip into it. Then everytime you hard reset it would always install the orange stuff.
Or you might just want to install one bit of it. The orange homescreen for example in this case you would just have to run the homescreen cab from file explorer.
The zip file i included just has all the files that were in the ext rom folder when the device was shipped from orange.
thanks for the reply
How do i unlock view my extended rom at the moment i have sim & cid unlockeded and flashed with the new htc rom but thats it as far as my knowledge goes been trying a few apps from here and just do a hard reset if i hit problems
Thanks
Robert
Is 121kb the whole Ext ROM? Having problems unzipping it...

Anyone with UK Orange Ext ROM?
K
yeah seems to be. unzips ok for me. When i saved my ext roms i did my hermes and my trinity at the same time. I remember one of them had some customizations and stuff that were not done in the ext rom they were just done in the main part of the rom and ran before the ext rom customization.
The answer is try the ext rom and see if that is everything you need. If not then let me know and will try and find the other stuff off the device.
If you pm me an email add then i will email it over to you in an rar or something.
oh, Rob you can show your ext rom using Trinityhacks 0.2 cant remember how to unlock it. Was a while ago, im sure either Trinityhacks will do it or it will say somewhere in the wiki.
Normally there is no need to unlock the ext rom though. What i do with my hermes is just have a folder on my memory card with all the stuff i install when i hard reset.
If you wanted to install the whole ext rom i have posted, the easiest thing to do is just copy all the files into a folder on your memory card called 2577 then take the card out and in. It will then run the install. Then just rename the folder to something else
Here is the extrom again. This time an rar, however, in order to post it i have had to rename it to a .cab file so just rename it back to .rar before you unzip it.

The UK M700 ext rom is pretty useless actually. it only contains 4 cabs
MP_MMS3.5_OrangeUK_Trinity_060811.CAB - setup MMS settings ONLY (doesnt include gprs and wap stuff)
MP_CVSDcpl_20060920.cab - adds the Voice Speed Dial control panel (standard in HTCs rom)
PP_Fix_ShowTodayTheme.cab - Changes the background
PT_WA_Abaxia.CAB - Turns on the Orange Plugin
Everything else is including in the rom itself, the orange sounds, today plugin, colour scheme, icons, programs etc so installing the ext rom wont get these back. The best thing to do though is to get the Network Settings program from the HTC download page and install the Orange setup from that to get all the internet and mms settings.

How would I stop the M700 from loading the Orange extended stuff? I can get the mms / sms settings from the HTC site and I can't be doing with the Orange today screen - so I'd like to stop it from installing
try reading that again

all the extended rom does is the 4 things above. 2 of them are useful, the other 2 you can just turn off in settings>today. the orange today screen is already installed on the orange roms.
Thanks guys..!

install tomtom 7 questions

after i install the ROM "Shine On 1.7 Full"
i unable run the tomtom 7......
any one know it how to fix it
What error do you recieve? I'm on Shine On 1.6 full and going to be upgrading soon (to this upgrade or to SwiftBL/Dutty) and need it to work!
hello,
when i updated my stock german rom from 1.37 to 1.93 my tomtom stopped working, too. try uninstalling it and reinstalling from a ttn7.cab found in the \windows folder.
hope that helps
Yeah ...the after i install it ....
it run 2secs then close the program.......
Have you installed it to internal storage or device ? If Device I accidentally did this and the same symptoms appeared. Remove TT7 and reinstall to Internal storage. should work then.

How to restore operator customization cab?

Hi,
I bought HTC Diamond from O2 CZ. It's beautiful device, but I flashed dutty ROM and then reverted back to original HTC Europe ROM 1.93.
I have backuped several operator cabs (like Czech Language, O2 settings etc.) and now I want to make them "in ROM", so if I hard-reset the phone, I want to install it via customization.
How to do it? I tried to copy them to \Windows folder and in TCMD set "read only" and "system", but after hard-reset they were deleted.
Thanks
If you want them installed after hard reset, then you need to build it in your own custom ROM, in other words, you need to cook your own ROM.
To do that, see the ROM development section...
Hm
I thought that
And there is not another way? I dont know - Total commander (copying to \Windows and set some attributes...) ?
Thanks

Tried the Rhodium packages I posted in my kitchen thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526738
Place the downloaded folder in EXT\SHARED\ and select/deselect the packages you like to use from visualkitchen.
No need to add them in config_AP.txt
I have tyou packages installed, and it works fine, but, i dont know why, y add the packages form calculator, or audio bosster, and then in programs they dont appear
And ther otre problem with config_ap is adding mi cabs, for expample, no data
Sorry for my bad english

Help me please. New XDA Diamond...

So I just got mine from my friend who lives in Germany, and I desperately want to change the language because I hardly understand it. I need it in English. Can someone help me find the .nbm file or some tut or something? I saw the hard spl unsigned thing and I guess I'll start off with that. Can anyone help me find a Windows 6.1 english version that has everything in it so it's like as i just bought it? Or maybe a windows 6.5? But I need it to have everything as if I just bought it, oh and I installed the one free map tomtom navigator allows me to download, so if I flash the rom, will I lose that map?
You should be able to find a suitable ROM in the Diamond ROM Development Section, you will only loose your Maps if they are stored on the Main Storage.
Well the map files are in My Documents of the phone, so does that count as the main sotrage? Any way to back it up?
Oh! Will I lose +any Apps like the TomTom Navigator or the Office Tools?
If you want to back up your maps, copy them to your Internal Storage. Mostly after market apps are installed on your Internal Storage so you will not loose it when you flash a new ROM, I have for example iGO8 installed on my Internal Storage and I don't have to reinstall it when I flash a new ROM. The Windows apps are part and parcel of all ROMs.
