Usefull tips for your new official wm6

(Please dont post to many questions here, lets keep it simple so that we dont get overflowed with questions probably answered 50 times before in other threads)
Ok, I want us to stick to one post if possible, for tips on how to in.ex make the HTC Home to work on our native languages.
If you have sollutions that works, post it here. (If you find the sollution in another post, give credits, and link to the post)

Here it explains how to rename the mui files in windows so that the HTC home will work:
I did following
Installed Total commander
I went to windows folder, I selected all files and folders, then properties, unchecked "read only"
Then I renamed
HTCHome.dll.0409.mui -> HTCHome.dll.0414.mui
HTC HDlg.exe.0409.mui ->HTC HDlg.exe.0414.mui
HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml -> HH_0414_WeatherCities.xml
htcbtql.dll.0409.mui -> htcbtql.dll.0414.mui
(0414 is the norwegian countrycode)
then voila, HTC Home on my norwegian wm6
New 26.08 The mfrazzz_CommManager_8button_wizard.cab
This commManager works great and I have no problems at all with it
New 26.08 Tips from fultotop regarding problems with installing the touch dialer in wm6 :
To Install reTouched Dialer you need to :
1. Delete delete this registry key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\PhoneCanvas
2. Install Wizard_reTOUCHed_Dialer2.cab
New 26.08 Fultotop have provided a reg fix.

just import to your registry with a reg edit program (total commander, link provided further up in this post)(see attachments for the reg file)

Now, thats weird. I could install it without any problems. Just accept any security warning and install it to the device. Don't know any more ways to "fix" it?

I forgot i had my cable attached to my Herald, thus enabling comm manager, thus not installing.
With no cable attached installed perfectly.

Could you please please please look at that registry entry for me? I need it for my WiFi button to work

I installed this and changed the codes to 041D (Swedish) and my Herald wouldnt boot again.. I had to reflash it with the Wm6 RUU.

u need to kill Comm Manager before u install it. If Comm Manager is still running in the background, itll give u that error. Close it properly first.
Btw the 9 button with 3g comm manager seems to be working fine. Wlan works on my herald (htc wm6)

I've tried the Wizard_reTOUCHed_Dialer2.cab for the new dialer, but could get it to display correctly, but it uninstalled fine.

How do u change large globe icon in internet tab?

On the o2 rom the large globe is a blue colour but I want to change it to the more earthly colour as shown in the official HTC rom. Is this possible please and how?

The 'globe' is an image file \Windows\O2UK_Portal.qtc which is referenced by the lines
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\O2UK_Portal.qtc"
FocusImagePath="\Windows\O2UK_Portal.qtc"
in \Application Data\Manila\InternetPortal-en-gb.xml
so if you have the image you would like to substitute just point the DefaultImagePath etc. to point at it.
Note, this is where you get rid of m.yahoo as well if you like, just substitute it with google/pda or whatever.
EDIT: yes this does work - I just tried it
If anyone has the HTC Black globe images or something else nice to go with the HTC Black theme I'd like to try it.

I guess from the OPs question that he has a U.K. Ignito so unfortunately not so in the O2 ROM, there is no ~\HTC folder and no default banner.qtc apart from the one I posted.
Not all "Diamonds" are the same

I would like to help out, but on my original HTC-ROM isn't an HTC folder either, so I have no clue where the xml-file is pointing at...but I sure have the globe.

Correct I have a UK ignito - O2 rom. Cozzykim your world rocks

I can't find the folder \Application Data\Manila\ , let alone the file InternetPortal-en-gb.xml. It is most vexing!

I am using Total Commander on an Orange 1.14 ROM Touch HD

Nevermind, I did a bit more forum searching and found the right file to edit.
It is 27c65cbd_manila in \windows\ (for me anyway)

i've tried this and failed.I have however deleted the original opera file in the /Windows directory.Hated opera didnt want it so bye bye
Plus all my favorites have gone from the globe screen,All it has is launch browser and the globe.I did exactly what you said to do

I have an HTC Diamond with Sprint and have a couple of questions.
Is there a way to remove the Sprint TV and Sprint Radio icon off the start screen.
Is there a way to add an icon and/or program to this menu?

tried to edit my opal, with the manilla2d editor, but didn't work, does someone know how to do so??? is there any program to edit opal's touchflo???

dude u should download m2dc and then u can edit touchflo

Registry Library Help

I have searched for list of registry keys in the manila folder . Somehow I accidentally deleted some of them .The ones I need are the ones having to do with the weather. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you please elaborate a bit more, like for instance list the registry hive you refering to and which version manila / rom. I could make you an export of my registry if you say which hive but without more info it's hard to provide much help.

HKEY_Current_User\Software\HTC\Manila\ ? Everything that is listed for weather. Some how is was deleted

Here's an export of the mentioned key of my registry, it indeed contains some settings related to weather:

I'm currently running Dutty's WinMo 6.5 R4 rom so you might wanna check if you can directly import my reg file. It would be savest to delete the lines you dont want to import. To import download the attached manila.txt and rename to manila.reg, then import with an app that can like registry editor or total commander. Obviously you can edit the values in a text editor before importing if you want, this is the default this rom comes with.

Thanks for the reply ,but I think the registry is different from rom to rom . Im running Duttys 3.9 turbo . It has an extra line starting with barcelona , london , seattle , paris , tokyo

Change keyboard layout

Hi,
I just flashed to NRGs rom, and as far as I can see - everything is working fine.
Anyhow, seing how I'm Swedish, I need to be able to write special letters like äöå.
Is there a special reg. key for the Rhodium for this?
Or a cab to install?

To change software layout
1. start
2. Advanced Config (if not installed you have to...)
3. change to the right layout under Input
To change hardwarelayout special key's
1. open a registry editor
2. browse to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME\KeyboardLayouFiles]
3. change "07FF"="eT9.Rhodium.wwe.kmap.txt" to "07FF"="eT9.Rhodium.807.kmap.txt" (standard country code) files are already in windows folder
To change qwerty to qwertz
1. install Keys remapper ( here)
2. Start -> Settings -> System ->Keyboard Config
3. Menu -> add key -> press y -> Action -> Emulate key press -> z -> ok
4. Menu -> add key -> press z -> Action -> Emulate key press -> y -> ok
5. update config

Is it possible to exit the .kmap.txt files themselves (or copy and edit the copy) to change the behaviour of 1 key? I want the mail-key to behave like a Tab (just like on the Kaiser) but don't want to go through the trouble of replacing a driver for just that 1 key.

i have create 2 cabs from Greek Official rom
for IME Engine and for EZinput..
works great with wm6.1
but when i install it on my new rom wm6.5
after restart rom stock to splash screen any idea?
