So as you can see I have managed to get custom tones on my phone and everything, BUT when they are set and I get a message and open it the tone doesn't stop playing and does the whole audio file. Is there any way to make it stop playing right when the message is read. Actually I even tried pressing all my buttons and it still plays... Is that normal, like I get a message and the song plays, then no matter what button I hit it continues.... Any ideas, suggestions, help? .... PS I have the HTC Tilt..
Thanks In Advance..

Any Suggestions?
Thats how it works. I dont know of a work around either. I dont think it is possible as of yet.
I have the same problem and it pisses me off. A phone that can do so much but doesnt have such a simply capability that my first flip phone had? Who wants to hear 30 seconds of music every time you get a text, especially during a convo....
Well, who puts a 30sec sound for texts in the first place?

If the file is a song it needs to be stored in the sounds file on your device, in application data\sounds! Then it will stop when you answer or check message!
I did what you said and yet te file keeps playing after the message is opened and read. Let alone I can't do anything to make it stop playing other then put the phone on silent for the length of the song. Even then the song plays. This doesn't make sense. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Simple solution edit the song so as it's short enough for a messege notification, the best free audio editor is Audacity
Umm..
Well to be honest who want a short boring message tone. Its nice to have the option of letting it play or just opening the message to shut it off am I right? Come one some one must know how and have an answer to this small blurp in the phone..

Geez you want to have your cake and eat it too! Either have a 30 second long SMS Notification sound EVERYTIME or don't. When the phone gets a Message its sends a command, "Play Tone" And that is all. Very Simple, no way to stop it.
Woah..
Sorry man. Just curious, I thought I phone as complex as this that maybe there was some silly and simple fix. Maybe that could be a project for someone that is up for a challenge. Find the command and a way to change it so it shuts off after being opened. I don't know, just bouncing ideas around that's all. Thank you for even responding though, I appreciate it it very much

To each his own... personally I'd be saying "Who in the world would want a 1min message tone that would require him to grab his device and open the message to stop it if he doesn't want to be looked at like a dork by all the people around?"
Phone call = continuous ring, normal as the person on the other end is waiting for you to pick up - Message: short notification so you know something has happened, but isn't urgent so no need to insist...
Can go both ways
im interested in this also, keep me updated

See whether this works for you..
"Just press the end call button n the message tone will stop".
Got this tip from a fellow forumer...Thanks to him..
It works on my Sony xperia...
looking for this also. on custom roms this did work, but now i got a newer 6.1 rom on my tp2 (stock) and it plays. i like to have long tones for stuff i dont get often mms, email, voicemail. this has to be somewhere on the interweb
ok guys, you prob have been asked this a few times by now, but i have some question about how to get my notification light to WORK! (i have fuze btw)
i have tried the notification settings in the phone menu, i have tried reg edits but i get access denied like crazy, i have tried cabs, but i may be doing something wrong bcuz i get the gay "no related file" crap.
i have been scouring the internet now for hours, and i havent been able to get this fixed. it is late now, and i am tired.
i just need some help, i need my notification light for emails/texts for work. and i dont have it.
so, if someone could point me in the direction of a fix, i would be grateful. also, i am new to modding my phone, so....
why did htc give us a light that doesnt work is my biggest question. the only thing it lights up for is a incoming call.
Okay, so i already asked this int the topic like 5 times and got ignored each time. Same thing that always happens when i actually have a problem.
This rom was working perfectly for about 2-3 weeks when all of a sudden i don't get any notification sounds and sometimes no sound from the calls either.
Notification sounds don't work anywhere in the whole phone in any app.
if i go to pick the sound, it plays it just fine, and when i reboot it'll work for about 5 minutes. Then nothing will ever play a notification sound. I've tried switching to the built in sounds with no such luck. Nothing has been able to fix this.
all i want is a very simple answer. Is there anyway to fix this, or should i go wipe and reflash the phone which i'd much rather not do
I'm afraid the only answer I can provide is wipe and reflash. But before you do that, have you searched in the JACxHERO rom thread? If there isn't an answer there try asking in that thread.
yeah i tried searching and asked 5 times, got ignored each time so basically just decided to ask here.
Really wish there was a herorom with no issues (other than bluetooth+leds, i can live without that)
Can someone please tell me with Cognition running - what files I need to replace/edit to change the boot-up sound/image sequence as well as the same for shutdown.
Thanks!
EDIT: Please be very specific with your instructions as I have some Linux experience but not much - enough to get myself into trouble ;-p
Q - In need of an A
Bump
- I was able to change the power on sound. I was also able to change the 2nd set of boot images but not that damned At&t screen.
-Can anyone tell me how to do that & can anyone tell me how to get my power on sound to play for as long as the sound file is?

AT&T World Phone screen can't be changed, it's not part of the system area of the phone, it's actually ingrained MUCH deeper into the device- no one has found a method for removing it, and I know the brave souls on the I9000 boards have had some real legitimate bricks in the process of trying to figure it out.
As for the PowerOn.wav, I'd imagine it will only play for as long as it takes the phone to boot and no longer.
Thanks for the info.
On the Power On sound it plays like 6 seconds, then boot takes another 5-6 seconds but it cuts the sound off, which I have not been able to find a settings file for.

Hmm I haven't really played with it... there might just be a hard limit as to how long sound is available during boot- heck the system might wait x amount of seconds before proceeding. A lot of different things are initializing when the phone starts up, stands to reason that perhaps it reinitializes audio at a certain point before the OS starts

I'm having some issues with the phone, when I'm trying to answer the phone when I'm called, i'm getting some sort of lag, when I swype so I can answer the phone. It takes like 1-2 seconds to start the conversation, is there any fix for this ... :/
have you done a search?
there are a few build.prop fixes
you just need to take the time to do some research first before trying them out
