No matter what ROM I use, whether its the latest official O2 one or "Pugs" Edited version of it with the 1.03 Radio version, it ALWAYS installs the O2 Active UI.
After every Hard Reset, once Windows has been set up, the device ALWAYS says "Customising in 3 Seconds" and then starts to run a load of installers on which the cancel button does nothing. Then, after these have finished, it asks the "Personal or Corporate" question, and whichever I tick, the O2 Active application is ALWAYS installed at the end of this.
How can I get rid of it? From what I have read, selecting "Corporate" stops the O2 Active program getting installed, but this is NOT true, atleast, not on my XDA2i.
Is it possible to get my device working with Pugs edited latest ROM version with Radio 1.03, WITHOUT having O2 Active installed on it?
Any help would be appreciated, as it is probably a simple fix,
thanks,
Darren
it does
once it asks you for personal or corperate
put a tick in corerate and just underneath enter a password 0506 & that will put it into corp mode
& if you want to gprs settings here they are
connection name
mobile web
modem
cellular line gprs
access point
mobile.o2.co.uk
user name

Re: Corp install and phone carrier settings
When the option screen appears, if you do not put the corp settings in, it will automatically default the UI install after a few seconds, after you put the code 0506 I think you have press 'enter'.
For your installation of GPRS/WAP/MMS, please follow this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26463 As I have uploaded all the latest Mobile carrier cab installs (V2.0) for the UK, for both contract and PAYG. Just copy the correct cab to your pda device and click to install, simple as that.
Turns out I bodged my own solution to this problem!!
When it tells you it will Customise the Device in 3 Seconds, Press the SOFT RESET button!
This will reboot the XDA2i into Windows and will NOT run any of the O2 Installers, and so none of the O2 Active will be Installed.
This means that I do not even get asked the Personal or Corporate question.
Thanks for the help tho,
Dazzer.
I have uninstalled the O2 active UI by booting in safe mode and then uninstalling it.
However on rebooting it now says that connections.exe cannot run because some files or libraries are missing.
Can I find out what it has uninstalled and put it back manually as I don't want to have to do a hard reboot and will the cab mentioned above do this?
Thanks

The problem
You have a Java application that makes use of the internet, eg Opera Mini or Google Local Maps, and you are finding that whenever it wants access the net you get prompted with a Yes/No dialog to either allow or disallow it to go through. With Opera Mini, this would occur everytime you clicked on a link to goto another page and in Google Local Maps it would happen everytime you pressed a button to scroll the map. Obviously this gets very frustrating as it slows down your use of the application.
This method of permitting net access each time it is required is known as "Oneshot".
The solution
The other method is "Session" where users are only prompted once per run of the application. However, some ROMs don't have this option under the security settings in the Midlet Manager despite being a newer version.
After much experimentation by a number of users, including myself, we have managed to determine that the rofs_target.zip file found in \Application Data\Tao\intent can be overwritten with one from a ROM where the "Session" option was available and it will give you this option in the ROM you are currently using.
1) Copy the attached cab file to anywhere on your device.
2) Make sure that you are not currently running any Java apps and that Midlet Manager has been closed down.
3) Execute the cab file and wait for it to finish.
4) Start up Midlet Manager and tap and hold on any app icon and then choose Security. Under Net Access you should now see the option of "Session".
Notes
This has only been tested on Wizard ROMs where Tao-Group's intent Midlet Manager is included. Whether it works on other devices that also have the same Midlet Manager has not been determined but other users are certainly welcome to try. The only thing the cab file does is overwrite (or create if it doesn't exist) \Application Data\Tao\intent\rofs_target.zip. It does not touch the registry or any other system related files or folders. As such it shouldn't break anything major if it doesn't work. All you would have to do is delete that zip file.
Having only been a recent "discovery", this method of getting the Session option back isn't refined as of yet. Collectively, we went through at least 3 other ways of doing it first, involving more files and doing it manually, before we arrived at the current cab installation. We may delve deeper into the folder structure found in the rofs_target.zip file to find out which file contains the appropriate setting so that we can make the solution even more compact. As such, this will be an ongoing thread and this post will be updated to include any developments.
Thanks to BAKup, gilbreen, aron7awol, gamescan
A little more information on the options this CAB adds. On a clean install you will get the following options in the Tao Java MIDlet Manager:
Net Access: No, Oneshot, Session (Session is default)
Local Connectivity: No, Oneshot, Session, Blanket (Session is default)
App Auto Run: No, Oneshot, Session (Session is default)
Messaging: No, Oneshot, Session (Oneshot is default)
Multimedia Recording: No, Oneshot (Oneshot is default)
Now, if you already have MIDlets installed you may have to remove them and reinstall to get the new options to show up. Also, you will want to make sure that the MIDlet Manager is NOT running when you install the CAB. Best advice is to do a soft reset and then install the patch immediately on boot. If you're customizing your Extended ROM, then slap it in there.
NOTE: This patch only fixes the security settings issue with the MIDlet Manager. It does not add JPEG support.
Seems to work well enough on the Hermes.
Thanks
Hi newbe from the UK here...
I have a MDA Pro with T-Mobile with the same problem, tried the fix above, copied & installed successfully... but still as before: only "Oneshot" and "No" options!!!
This is driving me insane!
Any help appreciated!
Yey! It works now!!
Just had to uninstall and reinstall the MIDlets and voila!
Reread gamescan's message
Thanks very much to all
Excellent; it works perfectly on my T-Mobile MDA Vario II with Opera Mini.
Hermes with T-mobile UK WM6 update
I was using the cab on my device (T-mobile Vario II) when it was running WM5. Having applied the recent t-mobile WM6 update, I found that the cab refused to install (citing that it was not meant for my device).
Bad times.
However, managed to force it back onto my device by opening the cab in post #2 (java_session_fix_-_june_15_2006.cab) in winzip and extract the file 00cab172.001 from it. I renamed the extracted file as rofs_target.zip and manually placed it in the location in post #1 on the device (\Application Data\Tao\Iintent) - I kept the original one backed up just in case - it was substantially larger than the replacement so you never know.
And now, once again, I can tag applets as having session based net access again!
Good times!
T-Mobile MDA pro now works with sessions
Hi
I spent ages looking for a solution this is great, I use my MDA for Betfair and could not use Betfair mobile as it kept asking for permission every page update, now it just keeps refreshing prices every 5 seconds.
A huge thankyou...

Hello! I appreciate very much what this comunity does for all of the pocket pc owners out there. That being said, could someone please post a how-to on upgradin Opera 9.5 without upgrading the firmware, please? I've searched the forum but people seem not to want to answer to this question. Maybe it's an idiotic question.. When i try to upgrade mine it says that it cannot remive the previous version, and when i press yes on wanting to continue at the end it says installation not successful! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Hmm... Doesn't anyone know this? 75 people read this and no one? I find this very strange. I hoped that other people were having this question. Thank you!
If you just want to upgrade, uninstall the old version if you are able and install the latest cab or find an upgrade version. If you can't uninstall, just install the new version overtop of the old. If you install over top make sure you are launching the proper executable. You can check your version by going to help, about Opera, and look for your build version at the top. That's it!
Next time try doing a little more reading, the answer is out there!!!!!
To Upgrade the Stock Version of Opera on a Diamond
Hi. It's unusual that somebody hasn't posted these complete steps before. So here we go:
To upgrade the stock version of Opera on a Diamond without flashing a new ROM
1. Go to the Opera thread here. Don't bother trying to install the official (non-Diamond) beta of Opera as it's more trouble than it's worth. Use the official Diamond Opera betas in the link here. You also should not try to uninstall the Opera version you already have on your Diamond
2. Download the Diamond Opera version that you would like. Choose the Upgrade zip package, not the Full Install package
3. Open the downloaded zip file and extract the three files (Opera9.exe, OperaL.exe, OperaPreL.exe)
4. Transfer these to a folder on your Diamond. eg "New Build"
5. Make a backup of the original Opera9.exe, OperaL.exe and OperaPreL.exe that is in the Windows folder of your Diamond. This is in the event that the new Opera build doesn't work as expected and you want to go back to the previous version
6. Use Resco File Explorer or similar to copy and paste the three files from the "New Build" folder to the Windows folder on your device. This will overwrite the old Opera files with the new ones. You can't use the standard WM6 File Explorer to do this as it won't let you overwrite the old files
7. Reset
8. The new build of Opera is now installed. Before you do anything else, return to the Windows folder on your Diamond and locate the "ghost images" of the older Opera build that are left behind (these have filenames along the lines of Opera9.exe.$7 and OperaL.exe.$22 or similar; make sure you don't try to delete the newer Opera9.exe and OperaL.exe files!) Deleting these unnecessary "ghost images" will free up lots of space.
For the record, I'm currently using build 1938 of Opera (extracted from a newer Diamond ROM). I don't recommend using the newest 2128 build as it comes with lots of issues such as excessive boot time, problems loading TouchFlo 3D favourites, etc. I think this new build is only designed to work alongside a newer version of TouchFlo 3d. The 1938 build works great for me though. Very quick, no issues. Still waiting for them to improve the Favourites list in Opera itself; it's a shambles.
Hope that helps
Dave
thank you
Now this is what a call a very good walktrough! Thank you for your help! I installed the version you sugested and it works perfectly! I guess it's quite easy when you know what to do.
+1 Thank you for this clear explanation.
Ciao
Fred
Thanks for the brilliant guide, I tried a cab upgrade earlier and killed opera completely (had to restore my sprite backup from the morning).
I'll give this a go
THANK you for the VERY clear and well written set of instructions on this, I just got my Diamond (US Unlocked Version) today, and you saved me a lot of headaches!
i upgraded to opera 9.5.2745
just run the .cab and it was done without any problems...
but the icons turn out really small after the install.. other than that, everything works great?

You might have a QVGA version. This thread has links to both VGA and QVGA versions, but there is apparently a problem with the VGA version posted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442252
See post #115 of the thread, someone has helpfully posted instruction on how to get the QVGA version working in VGA. Simply replace the skin file and the loading image (png file) and edit your opera.ini file with new zoom settings.
Hello, I just uploaded the ROM of my diamond, but i have a problem.
The upgrade was OK and all the configuration too, but the browser won't connect.
It's a known problem from the Bouygues' ROMs.
There's a .cab called ''Bouygues-costumize.CAB'' that has wap and settings to connect to internet with their network, a startup image, but it blocks all browser connections. Why? Don't ask me.
With my old ROM, while the phone was installing Opera and other things, during the first installation, when the phone started to install the ''Bouygues-costumize.CAB'', you just had to press the reset button on the stylus slot, and wait for it to restart, with the browser working, because it was the last thing to be installed.
BUT, with the new ROM, the ''Bouygues-costumize.CAB'' is installed just before the PT_Manilla.CAB (I think it's called like this), so if I do the reset like I did before, I have no TochFLO 3D.
Can anyone help me????????
My ROM version is 1.93.483.4 FRE
My old ROM was 1.37.483.3 FRE
If someone knows how I can solve this problem, please tell me.
THANKS
Happened to me...try a different radio and/or rerun connection wizard
which ROM did you install after????
Thx
No one can tell me, a ROM that I can put on my Diamond????
Thx
No one??????????
c'mon.......
plz. some one tell me a ROM I can put on my diamond.....
a. stop bumping the thread, you will just get banned by a moderator lol
b. try checking settings of how the data is recieved, when i reset or change ROM i have to change how the data is recieved from Internet to T-Mobile Internet, otherwise it moans it cannot get a signal (because im not near my wifi network) and it will actually use the 3g like it's meant to.
a. I'm just looking for a solution to use Opera on my Diamond through my Wi-fi network.
b. My diamond is just 5 metres from my Wi-Fi antenna. If you had read my post and taken the time to understand it, you would of known that the problem is from a .cab file which is from my operator's ROM which BLOCKS Wi-Fi connections through browsers, and BROWSERS only. I can use Google Maps, and ANY other program with no problem through my Wi-Fi network. BUT NOT BROWSERS.

Extract the contents of the ROM using a Diamond-compatible Kitchen, delete the CAB file and all references to it, recook the ROM, flash it, enjoy.
Or just extract the ROM, open the CAB file using WinCE CAB Manager, check and see what modifications it is making to the device/registry, and delete those files/settings.

I don't knowhow to cook ROMs, or extract a CAB from a ROM.
Does some one know an official ROM (with no operator customization) which works??
thx
Does File Dialog Changer from here http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/2039/ , work for you with a WM 6.5 ROM?
it doesn't work at all for me. And if i try to disable it to reenable it later, the device freezes.
not work any more.
any ideas?
Got the same freeze. Its functionality seems to be broken in WM6.5...
i guess we need to wait for an update from the developer.
Since it hasn't been updated in years I guess were out of luck.
Is there any alternatives that work with 6.5?
Default file dialog is from category "nonsense" / "ridiculous", especially if you have a huge flash card full of mp3's, it will take minutes before you be able use your phone after opening that file dialog.
still don't understand why 6.5 sticks to that old file dialog
Is there a solution now for changing the system file dialog in WM6.5? This standard thing is absolutely crap.
I don't understand why microsoft still use this file dialog.
Thanks,
Markus
There IS a WM6.5 fix for filedialogchanger
The mad programmer DID update his program for WM6.5, it's now version 1.66'.
Get the two files (filedlgchg.cpl and the internationalised gsgetfile.dll) here:
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2/filedlgchg_WM6_5.zip
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2/gsgetfile-i.zip
then copy it to your \Windows directory.
I've mirrored the files below since the mad programmer's geocities server sometimes spasms.
You can read his translated page here:
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2 (translated
BTW I tested this with WM6.5.5.
test on htc hd2?
Has anyone tried this on the HTC HD2 or another HTC phone with Sense?
Thanks
