Hi all,
I am after a PDA (no phone) with built in GPS chip which supports SDHC cards as i already have an 8gb card. i have done some searching online and still looking around but wanted to know if anyone else has any recommendations.
It needs:
WIFI
GPS (Good chipset)
WM6 preffered but WM5 is ok
Bluetooth
IRDA would be a bonus but not essential
SD HC card support
The 2 i have seen so far are:
Asus A696 and Acer C530
If i find anymore il update the thread.
Thanks
Sam

is there such a thing as a wifi sd card that can fit into my sx-56 so that i can use the internet on the pda from a wireless connection as i have a g router setup at home?
No, there is no wifi-card.
All wifi-cards require SDIO-Slot and the Wallaby device have only SD-Slot.

No card, didn't look far...
Sandisk wifi SDIO card available, working in my XDAII
There is also a Sandisk wifi SDIO card with 256Mb built in, but it.s not compatable with XDA/XDAII
Paid £35 on ebay for mine.
3.01 drivers are the best ones, WEP works better than with 3.00.
There is another make but I don't remeber.
This is a much needed item on my XDA I wishlist
Just have purchased my new toy here in Thailand. Everything works fine exept the Garmin Mobile 10 XT software delivered with the Kaiser here in Thailand. The Garmin sw is not able to find the intenal GPS receiver. (com4 as recommended on the web by several poeple).
Regardless 2 days searching on the net in this forum and anywhere else I was not able to find any answers. The only thing what I have realized that some poeple can use th software withjout any problems and some have problems like me and are not able to solve them.
Please help anyone!!!
Anyone?? Please
Is there anyone who can help?
bump.. same issue :9
maybe you will find some helpfull info on this thread LINK For me on my TyTn II Garmin Mobile XT work normaly with internal GPS(Com4)...
Ha,
you have been falling into the Garmin trap.
Garmin Mobile 10/20 a.s.o. work ONLY with the original Garmin GPS Bluetooth receiver. The internal GPS cannot be used with these versions since the unlock code for the software is the Garmin GPS receivers Bluetooth MAC address.
The only Garmin SW which works with the internal GPS is Garmin Mobile XT. But then again, you have to use the generic MicroSD card from Garmin with the SW on since the unlock code is the SD card ID (which cannot be altered).
I was in the same situation and I was able to solve the problem via the internet. Use Google to find a solution.

Thanks for Your replay Graf Zeppelin. The strange thing is the Original (no copy) CD have been delivered inside the HTC TyTN II box in Thailand from the official agent SIS (sealed with a SIS sticker) including an explaination how to install it on the SD micro card. The only thing is that the GPS receiver cant be dedected.
So, if they deliver this SW with the PDA one should expect it to work...??? I may will visit SIS or/and the agent for GARMIN in Thailand next week in order to find some answers maybe.

is there any way to upgrade the 02 xda2 to have wifi built in like xda2i?
no, that is a hardware issue.. so forget it!!
one can always use a sdio wifi card
with wm2003 the sdio wifi cards with sd mem on them dident work
havent gotten confirmation if this is the case with wm5-6 though
wifi
would a spectec sd wifi card do? im running wm6. would that work? i just dont want to have something shipped over and then find out it doesnt work.
is there any hardware mods to fit the wifi into the xda2?
if there was room which i dont believe there is then the only connection the mod could connect to would be the sd interface rendering the slot useless

Christian.. I run the spectec sd wifi card... works quite well, the only prob is it seems to drop out after 10 minutes or so if i leave it go... it seems to be intermitant but it has allowed me to skype my way round the world so it's still pretty good... just sucks to not be able to have the sd card at the same time...
wuh000...
thanks for the infos guys...wuhooo. i got a brand new spectec for around $50 aud / Php 2000. now that's what i call cheap!!
Someone knows if they sell it??? where we can find it?
