Change Time format - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I need a help...
I have 24 hours format. I want a 12 hours format (am/pm). In Windows I changed to AM/PM. But after this I have not changes.
What to do ?

Start Settings System
Regional settings.
The option would be in the appearance tab (I don't have my diamond with me, right now)
Over there, there are various formats.
HH:mm:ss
h:mm:ss
H:mm:ss
Select one of the one's with the single h (I think) and look at the preview.
You SHOULD find the one you are looking for

CHANGE START BAR DATE FORMAT

How does one change the format for the date.
I did the Reg tweek so I have the time and date in the start bar.
But I would like to get rid of the year on the date.
Ideas ?
Thanks
there is a program Tweak2k2.com
try a demo for 3 times,
It work for me..
I tried it but did not work for me.
I have my start bar showing 7/25/0 and the time 3:27 below it.
I want to get rid of the /0
Date Format
Use your reg editor and goto HKLM\nls\overrides\ and make a string with the name SSDte with a value of M/d and that should do it.

BINGO
THat worked GREAT
THANKS
that great,
Now how can I remove the week day "Saturday" and have date and time in one line?
Or is there a way to have the TIME at all time on the top bar next to the SIGNAL?
Time Format
From the way I understand it, it's built in the Windows Mobile rom how it's displayed as far as on the bar, ie: date on top of time if you have that enabled. But, if you want the date and time both on the taskbar up top, you need an AKU 2.2 rom minimum with two registry entries. One is the SSDte string with a value of M/d/yy with three spaces for some comfort room alongside to account for the close button, and STFmt string with a value of h:mm t for the time. You can go as far as I did and add the am pm reg entries as well so you know exactly that your clock is at least in the ball park time wise or use military time. To do that: In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides create a string S1159 with a value of Am and another string S2359 with a value of Pm and change the string STFmt to a value of h:mm tM
Soft reset
* All characters are case sensitive and must be entered as stated above.
For a more complete listing of Windows Mobile date and time format values, go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...vbenlr98/html/vafmtuserdefineddateformats.asp (Link above taken from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
there are some setting in Setting > Regional Settings.

Correct, but you can only choose them, not change them. You have to use a registry editor if you want to change the format of the date and time.

[Solved] Odd Looking Desktop Icons Windows XP

Hey guys,
Off topic.... My desktop icons have a black bakground (see jpeg enclosed) and no matter what i do i can not repair them. They work correctly but look crap
Steps tried so far: (mostly gotton from google.....)
1 used tweakui to attempt repair.
2 adjusted colour depth from 32 to 16 and back again.
3 deleted icon cache, restarted to force rebuild of file.
4 several reg fixs none of which worked.
5 tried several wallpapers/themes and tried tweakin many settings.
None of the above worked and im tired now, so im hoping you guys have some suggestions
Many thanks.
Easy....
Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.
Job done

I know this can be done, but i would like to see the icons & text sitting on top of my wallpaper, not with a background colour, but thanks for the reply
Any other suggestions guys?
Found in the web - at least worth a try:
If you have tried everything already mentioned and still cannot get your icons to have transparent you may want to try this. Change following reg keys to a value of 0 User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer] System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer] Value Name: ForceActiveDesktopOn Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value) Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = enabled) This is what did it for me. Something, I don’t know what was changing this value to 1 on my system. Once I set this to 0 I had my drop shadows back.

In addition, give TuneUp 2008 a try, it can fix a lot of REGISTRY and SYSTEM problems. The Trial Version is fully functional for 15 days.

Thanks for the advice Junner2003.

Solution
Ok guys,
I managed to find the solution. Tune up 2009 app didnt solve it although it did make my destop looking like vista (black bars and cool icons)
The problem was in "display properties/desktop/customise desktop/web". I did have at one time active web content on my desktop which i had turned off many moons ago. Along with the two web page addresses (which were inactive) i had a file "file:///C:\DOCUME~1\TIM&SA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image002.jpg" which was active? what this is and where it came from i dont know, but de selecting it did the trick and my desktop is now back to normal.
Many thanks for all your ideas and help chaps, long live XDA

HTC Camera Picture Theme pages

Is there any way to increase the number of pages the HTC camera will display when in the "Picture Theme" mode?
I have recently found many new picture themes; however, the current HTC camera software will only list 3 pages of themes (6 gifs each page) maximum, despite having more than 18 theme pictures in the template directory. I am able to access additional theme pictures by clicking on the selection icon; however, this is slow and tedious as you must display each theme picture before accessing the next one.
camera templates
Yes there is, go to this link http://xda-v.6te.net/Index.html and get the new templates

Thanks for the reply, but I already have the "GIF theme pictures" or "templates", and yes that site is a great place to download such theme pictures. However, if I select the "Capture Settings" menu and then the "Template" menu in Camera mode, I can only scroll down 3 screens or a total of 18 templates, despite having 30+ templates in the directory.
If no one else has this problem, then it may be specific to my ROM, but I am hoping there is a registry change I can make to change this.
Glenn Cheng
AT&T Tilt
ROM: NATF v5 Final WWE ROM
Radio 1.65.20.29
i'd like to know the answer to this too, i have a touch pro, and i can only select 16 from the menu, or 32 from the manual "press press press" method. the ones they pick are random also.
anyone know where we can find more templates
Ok, in camera mood and with theme selected I enter the settings menu then advanced, here it will display the chose frame option and it will display all your themes 3 by 3 in each page by name, hope that helps.

Few annoying things in wm6.5

Hi guys!
appart of the known bugs of the still immature os wm6.5, after flashing several roms i still have some annoying things, that probably can be easily solved with some registry tweaks
sadly, i don't know which registry to change, so i am asking for your help:
1. pressing the start menu (left upper corner) the icons from the menu are totaly unsorted. i have a lot of things installed, so i want them sorted, let say, alphabeticaly. is it possible?
2. same start menu - can the dimenssions of the icons be changed? some people may want them smaller and some people may want them bigger.
3. settings menu - if you make a setting modification (through all settings menu), after confirmation you are sent to manila settigs. i want to remain within the all settings menu rather then manila. is it possible?
4. within the mail tab, is it possible to make inbox to be default option when you go to email tab?
thank you!
regards

For the start menu icons (1), you can sort them into folders (normally provided on the roms with nice icons), if you go into file explorer you can cut and paste shortcuts into the different folders as you want

than you have to modify the xml file.
1- copy your StartMenu_GridScene_480x800 to your storage card
2- open it with XML notepad
3- open the submap under StartMenu GridScene find the 3rd image folder
4- change the width and height
5- save and replace it whit tcm
good luck

I know it differs, but in my version of 6.5 - I can press_and_hold the icon in the start menu, and then just move it to where ever I want it.

nope, with rom version i use, when i do that i got just 1 option - "Move to top"
however, even if it would work as in your rom, it is still difficult to sort if you have many apps installed.
i am thinking about something simple - some option or registry tweak that allow to sort icons

rambo12345,
Is it possible to go back to the original layout rather than the honeycomb, with the 4 columns, as the honeycomb seems to achieve nothing except wasting screen space and making the icons more difficult to scan visually.
Thanks.

Performance on Rhodium
[EDIT]
I am using the full version now, which shas an option to disable the original start menu, which saves alot of memory.
Performance is great on the Rhodium
[/EDIT]
I wanted to try it on the Tilt 2, because it is a memory starved device.
There is no memory advantage to using this over the normal start menu.
It looks nice, and the recent program list is great.
But for the Rhhodium, memory is critical, so I will go back to using the Panel Stat menu cooked into Energy ROMs.
It would be nice if the free version would have had the graphic transitions when opening folders. It looked cool on the demo that was done on an HD2, but, other devices, such as my Tilt 2 or my Fuze, are slower.
I would want to see that performance before purchasing. If I could see that I would consider purchasing it for my Fuze.
But, as far as the memory usage. I can't use it with my Tilt 2. It consumes more memory than having the original start menu.
The full version can disable the original start menu, so you can spare approx 30 Mo in RAM.
The demo was done on an HD (older than Tilt2) and no problems. I think it will be smooth for both (Tilt2 and Fuze), but I'm not sure of that!
I can't create a demo version with graphic transitions, too much work...
As you are a "productive and contributing member", I can give you a serial... Send me a PM if you are interested!

Thanks.
While testing the full paid version, I am very impressed.
I have more memory available than before, when I was using the Panel Start menu available in Energy Roms.
This start menu is great.
Starts faster.
More responsive.
Better transitioning graphics.
Graphics are very smooth on my Tilt 2.
And the most recent program feature is really nice to have.
This is definitely worth the money.
Thanks for this feedback
WinStart with CHT Softkeys
First of all very nice!!
I purchased the full version at your referenced site.
I am having a problem. I use CHT 2.0 on my NRGZ28 ROM, and I use the CHT Softkeys. I cannot get WinStart to pull up the start menu using the "StartMenu" CHT softkey. If I disable the CHT softkeys, the the normal StartMenu icon works fine.
Within CHT SoftKeys, there are ways to set key assignments:
"Run path" which prompts me to enter an application to run. WinStart is not a listed application.
"Command Line" which prompts me to "enter command line parameters". I don't know what to do here?
Is there a way you can get this to work with the CHT SoftKeys?
I have CHT2.0 too, but I never used the SoftKeys...
I take a look and come back to tell you how do this.
WinStart with XDA_UC
Thank you...while waiting...I'll ask another question.
I flash ROM's a lot when new versions come out. I use XDA_UC to install my various apps that I use. WinStart will DEFINITELY be one.
My question: On a fresh install with a new ROM, is there a registry key or something that I should install along with the cab to get the initial "fresh-install" parameters - username/password information - automatically applied?
OK, so it's not as easy as I thought... I try something but it work only the first time... What I do :
In HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila
>Set CHT.Softkeys.KeyCustom1.Path to: \Program Files\winstart\winstart.exe (no quotes or anything else)
In CHT editor, set icon1 to custom1... But as said before this will work only the first time.
I work on this and in a few days (I hope 24h), I will post a new version.
For the second question, you will have to save these two values :
HKLM/Software/Manila_WinStart/licenceKey and HKLM/Software/Manila_WinStart/password.
You can also export the entire HKLM/Software/Manila_WinStart/ key to save your settings too... If this is not an option for you, tell me via PM, I will send you a patcher...

Hello - I appear to have the same issue as WMG316. After installation and reboot. I can go to \Program Files\WinStart\ and run ConfigWinstart.exe. I select DEBUG, Stop Service, and then Start Service, Back, Save. At this point the Hard and Softkeys work properly until the next reboot. I have not put any WinStart in my Startup folder.
I hope this helps get closer to a long-term solution. I really like this app and it is still worth the money.

How to Backup "Renamed Icons"
Another question. I have renamed a few of the icons in the start menu. I cannot locate where these changes are saved. Is there a way to backup these settings for subsequent ROM flashes?
wmg316, you can export registry key HKLM-Security-Shell-Startinfo-Start , which contains data about all links: their position, icon, name & visibility..
Start Menu Hardware Key on Rhodium
Maybe a bug?
Since disabling the CHT SoftKeys I have had no problem initiating the Start Menu with the default soft key. I am still in hopes that you will fix that issue though!
My problem...when I try to use the hardware key start menu on the Tilt 2 (Rhodium) it does not work.
I can get it to work by following these steps:
Use Start Menu soft key to go to Start Menu
Select Menu, Options
At this point the option to "Hook the windows hardware key" is checked...I uncheck this...then check it again and select save
After this process, the hardware key works.
After a soft reset, the hardware key does not work and I have to go through the aforementioned steps to get it to work again.
Yes,I think this problem is the same as CHT softkey (they emulate an hardware keydown).
So I think in a few hours these two bugs will be corrected !
The problem is now solved...
I work on an option to save/restore the settings so I will change the version number of first post when finished.
For now you can install the attached file which correct the bug but don't include the option to save/restore settings...

Confirmed to work:
I uninstalled v2.1 and soft reset
I installed v2.2
Turned on CHT Softkeys

Tested hardware key start menu - worked
Soft reset
Tested CHT Softkey and hardware start menus again - worked
Thank you!!
You guys work fast! The issue with the hardware and CHT Softbar starting was my only real issue with this. I bought the paid version and love it. Thank you.
The only other minor cosmetic thing I have noticed is that when you first open the program, it leaves some odd artifacts on the screen as you run it the first time. For example, after a soft reset, the first time I open the menu, I can't see my task bar on top, I see a part of my CHT hometab. Once I close it, it works great for all other openings.
Also, when you click on a program, the animation works fines to zoom the icon at me, but once it is done, the screen briefly jumps back to the start menu background showing me just the icon I clicked on until the program actually opens.
Like I said, purely cosmetic, but I figured I would mention them. Again, thanks a ton for the program, it is by far and away the best start menu I have tried. Light years ahead of even the default WM one.
