Ok boys simple tip to make life easier:
I discovered (hopefully im not double posting):
That if you use Diamond TF3d Config (THANK YOU very much Mr. Sascha Lange) and make your changes (choose not to reboot after changes made) such as changing the date format or the tabs order (I tried it) you dont have to restart the Jewel to see the changes, just go to Today settings disable TF3D and then start it again. All the changes you made with out rebooting.
Hope this makes your life easier with the KICKS ass Jewel.
Cheers Bradassss
Well done on a thread that doesnt involve the iPhone, the Diamonds battery, or someone saying how much they hate the phone.
Well done to you sir!
Nice find mate

Of course, this involves ONLY changes made to manila, NOT the OS itself, such as "TouchFLO performance tweak x" - which tunes the FAT and GDI cache, as well as touch sensitivity.
THESE require a restart.

You are correctooo Sir.
No preformance Tweaks just. "Cosmetic" tweaks. Tabs, date format etc....
Cheers!
I knew it all along.. lol
Perhaps you could tell Sascha to have that dialog appear instead of asking users to reboot Or better still.. have a function to automatically restart TF3D only.

Hi
I made this little CAB to install the registry tweaks that prevent your screen from blanking. I can confirm that on my Orange Diamond, using Bepe's .97 this actually works, whereas using Advanced Config didn't solve the issue.
The CAB file is uninstallable should you wish to remove it.
Thanks,
Shinobi_UK
Can you explain what´s in that cab?

Actually i found that using DT didn't work either, and I also find it more convenient to apply the registry changes with a cab file, rather than having to install an app I don't use and then make a load of clicks.
If you prefer to do it using a tweaking app then this cab isn't for you. The only reason I posted it is because I use it myself.

Well actually it's been very easy to achieve by taking registry snapshots, and then using diff on a linux box to find the changes, then import them into a cab file.
So thanks for wishing me luck but it's not required.
Sarcasm breeds sarcasm and frankly i'm slightly ammused that on a forum designed to help users share tips and software, a simple CAB i use after new ROM flashes has created such a hostile response.
I'm not attempting to replace or belittle your tool monte, it's certainly streets ahead of what i can do at the moment, however as bepe's ROM lets me run cabs at build this way is nice and easy for me to ensure that if I need to do a hard reset I can reinstate my registry tweaks during the reset without having to install any additional software.

I find it annoying to have to unblank the screen to use the keypad for things like phone banking and voicemail.
The registry tweaks in Advanced Config did not work on my phone either, but this cab did the job. Thanks shinobi_uk
THIS is effing amazing
Been looking for something like this for a looong time, cheers
Brilliant, I'd tried the registry tweaks in the tweaks thread, and advancedconfig without any luck and this cab worked perfectly.
I haven't tried DiamondTweak, looks interesting though.
This works perfectly. Big Thanks!

It's not that bad, it just annoys me when I'm phoning numbers where you have a number menu system to get through.
It's strange that it's something no other WM phones I've used have done, yet theres no menu option to disable it.

This CAB file is flawed, because it causes unnecessary battery drain.
It's wrong to make the screen never go to sleep during a phone call.
If you'll think about it for a moment, during a call we never really need the screen to be active for more than 1 minute or so, from the last time we touched it. If you are calling a digital voice machine (either your voicemail or anything), 99.999% of the time it won't take more than 1 minute between key presses.
The ideal tweak should just make the screen behave like when you're not in a call, meaning the screen reduces brightness after ~30 seconds, and shuts down after ~1 minute. In order to be 100% on the safe side, you could make it shut down after 2 minutes from last key press. BUT, making it never go to sleep is simply a waste of battery if you're doing for example a 30 minutes conversation.
center button and screen back on
My preference is to have the screen come on, see who it is, then allow it to go blank. If you need it to come back on, i just push the center of the scroll, enter button or whatever its called, and the screen comes back on. (at least it does on mine) . I like it that the screen blanks so it will save battery.
But i dont think we should discourage anyone from making any kind of cab if they desire.

Still, it is unnoying to press that damn key every 5 seconds. The screen should shut down after 1-2 minutes, but NOT never.

Thats abosolute BS. It is NOT flawed. If you dont want your screen to stay on just - dont use the CAB. I think most users around here are smart enought to know that keeping the screen on during a call takes a battery hit. If they use the CAB as I intend to they are willing to accept this.
im not sure if anyone of you have this question in mind but i was wondering : the cooked roms are extremely fast already but if i add in the advanced config cache tweaks, what would happen? would it cause the phone to slow down? if cache tweaks were meant to speed up TF3D but at the same time increase the memory % used, then whats the point? since the higher % of memory used, the slower ur phone is right? im one confused guy. =( im using panoshas 1.7 full btw.
That's weird, I was just wandering the same thing mate! I'm using Swift bl v.6 though...

I asked Panosha about this... Advance config "WILL" interfere with his performance settings.! If your using his rom then i would not install advance config..! I too is using shine on 1.7 and to be honest A/C does the rom NO justice, I think it runs perfectly without it...!
Shine on 1.7 makes my Diamond *ping*
Why can't he install advanced config? He doesn't necessarily need to mess with performance settings, it has lots of other useful things...

But I'm not sure if a/c loads all its reg settings into memory.. If so then all settings surly would be saved even if you don't make any...? As i said i'm not really sure on this so I'm asking about myself.. if you don get info please do lets us know...!
Well, as i'm using Swift, I don't need to worry as it came with advanced config anyway. I have not messed about with much though - I have only turned on all power management settings and stopped the delay when I hang-up a call.
Interesting thread actually.

I guess when a chief incorporates a/c into their roms then they are taking this issue into account...!
The one thing i have noticed with Advance config is no matter what cooked rom I'm using, when launching a/c for the first time it always has defaults settings, so if a cheif has made performance settings to their roms then why don't a/c show them... this why I'm holding back from using it till i get a full picture.
P.s Totally interesting...!

actually i disagree with you there. i have noticed on different ROMS that the initial settings shown on A/C are in fact different which can only mean that the ROM tweaks are over riding the A/C setings, thats is until you adjust it & do a soft reset.

Confused.... When i have installed Roms and used a/c to check its all ways been default settings...! more research needed...!
thats why im afraid that A/C or TF3D Config or stuff like that would interfere with the rom! damn it, i thought that 1.7 was slow but actually its due to advanced config.. haha looks like im going to flash back!
yea actually i do realise that a/c's settings are always set to default..
i thought when A/C 1st starts it reads all the appropriate registry entrys and marks them as the default value!
hey guys...
.. anyone got an answer to this questions until now?
would also be interested...
my feelings tell me, a/c does change the existing configs...
but i'm not really sure..
Well, to start out, thank you all for this excellent resource that is XDA-Developers, without which I'd be left virtually without a clue.
I have an ATT Fuze that has had light modifications to it (skip the bloat, advance config tweaks to my preference but no performance tweaks yet) and I tried to add the call history tab using Advanced Config 3.3.0's Touchflo3d configuration page.
Bad idea.
My phone no longer displays the Home tab's contents (it shows the tab, but nothing on the screen--no flip clock, alarm status, nothing).
In my infinite wisdom, I neglected to backup the 26948339_manila file before I allowed Advanced Config to mangle it.
I have tried the following:
soft-resetting the phone
using winmerge to check the diff between my file and other people's 26948339_manila file
installing the 1d1ee*something*_manila file that was supposed to enable the call history tab
Interestingly enough, I don't think the problem lies in my 269*whatever*_manila file, as it doesn't seem to be much different than those posted on the 'net' (but maybe that's the problem, since I have a Fuze and the Advanced Config tool corrupted it.)
Attached is my 269..._manila (I give up trying to type that over and over) file that doesn't work. Is there anyone who can help me or at least point me in the right direction? I'm so sad that I killed my clock... it's the most useful feature of my phone!
Thank you soo much in advance!
Update: I've tried more people's 26948339_manila files still with nothing working...
What other files does Advanced Config change when you edit the tabs?
I may have to hard reset my precious device, but I'd really hate to have to do that..
Please help?
Thank you again
I think skipping the bloat will give you problems with TF3D from what I heard. There are files that need to be installed.

Try loading Diamond TF3D Config and then click the "Restore Default" button in the Appearance tab. That should return your TF3D to the default without a hard reset.
Okay, I didn't wanna mess with that since I have a custom TF3D theme (HTC Black) installed... but at this point I figure there's nothing left to lose.
Thank you! I'll try that as soon as I get home (I took my other phone today... didn't wanna try hacking it during class
Update: ITS ALIVE AGAIN!!
Thank you INTV for your suggestion, it seems to have cured my Fuze!
I'm going to hold off on installing my manila theme (HTC Black) again because it has some issues with the landscape shortcuts and other miscellaneous things... is there a theme that looks like the Touch Pro stock theme that is recommended?
Once again-- thank you for your help!

I decided to make this about things you cant do with 6.5 at the moment. And certain things u can do.
If u delete any of the themes that come installed with the rom, all 6.5 style menus will revert back to original 6.1 style, and the only way to get it back is Hard reset.
If you dont want any themes to install jus push the soft reset when auto config runs for the first time. thats a easy work around.
Any registry editing to the network icons will disable your internet connection. Change it back to get it back.
Any editing done to titanium like removing a plugin will remove it, and im not if its recoverable.
Battery status is not compatible with Titanium.
Any editing in HKLM/System/GWE will have unstable effects. "mostly graphics related"
Activating menu animations will work but for some reason the top text isnt visible in all the soft key menus, it will also slow 6.5 down a little. It looks nice though. And gwes.exe will eat a lot of ram!
And im not sure but increasing the threshold seems like it speeds up 6.5 up a little.
These are my personal hacks settings, on getting more ram! Ok guys here are the registry edits I've made. There the ones "I've" made. So dont do it if you need wat i deleted. So here it goes, Go to....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/-Delete OutlookLive. -Delete PresetMsgs in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/Inbox.
Now go to, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/init/-Delete Launch91, Launch92, Launch98.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Services/-Delete OutlookEnhancement -Delete Windows Live.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft-Delete Speech, Voice Command.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HTC/-Delete, HTCHomeplug, SlidingSound, VOICESETTING,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE/ DWORD limit from 131072 to 8192.
Thats all i have come across so far. You can add more tweaks if you want. I thought us wing users could use something like this for info on what tweaks work and what doesnt. Ill be adding more as i play with the registry more. Theres a lot of new stuff in the registry, but its mostly graphic related.
how do you get to: HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings/EnableScrolling/Dword1 to 0
figured it out. thanx

Just remove the APN's. (Go to your settings, connections and remove all the connection settings. That way the phone won't know how to do anything.)
thanks but unfortunately removing those setting disables the phones abilities to send/receive MMS. thanks anyways tho. cant wait for your next build of 6.5, current one uses too much memory so im using juststable micro ROM. Awesome work

Don't remove the MMS APN, just the data APN. Then make sure you don't check "connects to the internet" in the last tab of the APN settings.
Yea, unfortunately, 6.5 is meant for devices with a lot more RAM than our devices have. There might not be a fix for that. :-/

I am having a slightly different problem...I think anyway...with the today screen. Is the default justhome 6.5 today screen considered titanium, or is it something else? I tried to remove and add a couple panels using the chome configurator, which had no effect whatsoever.
If i go into the registry and just delete the panels that i don't want is it going to disable the panels entirely, as mentioned in the first post, or should i be able to get away with that. I really don't want to have to hard reset again.
I already tried installing the "WM7_titanium project" cab with pretty much the same lack of results as the default skin and had to hard reset just to get it back to normal.
I've gotten BatteryStatus to work with my 6.5 flashed Wing.
It seems to install no problem, but then if you try to run the program, it glitches (at least, that's what I was running into).
What you need to do is go to settings>Today>Items, disable 'Windows Default", and enable "Battery Status". This will drop the typical 6.5 interface and your screen will JUST have the little battery status bar.
Then go back into programs>battery status (it should work this time) and make whatever changes you wish. Then reverse the above re: the today screen, and you should be in good shape.
At your own risk, as always.
I am a normal user with pretty ok hang on general computing, but I got in way above my head. I sincerely hope someone will give aid.
Originally I was just looking for a way to 1) get my "tasks" to show on the HTCs interface start screen together with calender appointments and a way to record my phonecalls.
During my search I found some tweak-pack that did lord knows what. Among other things it added the options to record phonecalls, but only in wav and on main memory though.
Unfortunately it also made manila work in landscape mode, which I dont like. It flips over everytime I tilt my phone the slightest and I see no use for it actually.
I then downloaded some registry editor and tampered with some "enable landscape" setting under local user/software/manila and changed the value to false". After rebooting my phone still tilts and I cant find the command anymore in the registry. What did I do wrong?
I even uninstalled the tweak pack, which just made the record option dissapear again but the landscape rotating persists.
I also realized that adding the command again is easier said than done. Appearntly it takes much more than just writing it as I need to insert strings, dwords and whatsnot, and I have absolutely no clue about what is what.
Now Im even worse out than before. I have no record option any more, and the manila interface is still tilting. I still havent found a tweak or app that can add tasks to the manila homescreen.
Can someone help me disable the landscape rotaing, point me to a crash course for "phone-tampering illeterals" or recommend some way to get the two sought for features? Especially the call-recording preferably to memcard and mp3 is highly needed. First priority is to stop the screen from tilting though.
Oh please.. Help me out /cry..

Unfortunately if you tampered with the registry and did not save a backup, you will need to hard reset to get it back.
As Mohamed stated, TD2Tools will fix your rotation issue.
As far as incall recorder, here's the cab but you'll have to search on how to configure it.
I have not used it, so I cannot verify its functionality.
**Also, please edit your title to remove profanity, as it can only be implied here.... **
Hi,
I can verify- it works.
I use it and Resco Audio Recorder (paid) to record it in format i want (MP3 too) and there i want (phone or memory card)
1. Hard Reset
2. Install a ROM which has option to record a call
Thanks for the help guys. I never tried installing roms. Is there a list somewhere and some instructions on how to do it? Is it reversable without loosing everything on your phone?
With the tools recommended earlier will fix the rotation, the worst problem is averted. I still hope for some way to get a todo-list on my main screen without the cost of uninstalling Manila. But maybe thats not possible?

Read the wiki for flashing for newbies.
It is not reversable and you will loose all your data as well as your warranty if you screw it up.
Not many have been able to flash HardSPL lately which is the precursor to flashing a ROM so good luck with that, you'll probably end up having to pay for it, but it is well worth it.
All questions about flashing should be direct to that thread for maximum exposure and make sure to search and read first before you ask.
There are options on your current ROM to install a Second Today program and toggle between Manila and 2nd Today where you can add your todo list.
Note: not every registry hack is restorable by a hard reset.
