Landscape mode - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

"TouchPal supports Landscape mode. You don't switch TouchPal to Landscape mode. Instead, you should switch your device to Landscape mode, and TouchPal will switch to Landscape mode automatically."
How do I put my Diamond in landscape mode?
Thanks,
Jon

You need to tweak the registry.
change->
HKeyLocalMachine/System/GDI/Rotation
Change the "HideOrientationUI" from 1 to 0
change "LandscapeFixed" from 1 to 0.
Then you can swith from settings/screen or change the key(call) to switch orientation.

Or load GSen and have which ever mode you feel like in an instant by rotating the phone.

So with GSen, can I just rotate my phone and so when using typing text messages, the keyboard will get wider?

sort of.... if you rotate the phone, the keyboard will get wider in a sense that its longer with less hight. The keys then shift around slightly.
Try it, its free and its great. Don't like it? Delete it.

Thanks for the Gsen suggestion. I have installed it and it doesn't do anything, even after rebooting.

Start Menu-> Programs -> Gsen
You won't get any acknowledgment on screen or anything, just click it once. If you click it again you will be told its unloaded. Once you have it loaded (by clicking once)..... turn the phone and wait a second
If you like it, you can then copy this to the startup directory so it autoruns when you boot.
edit: it also installs two other apps. Not sure what they are but i've never needed them so don't worry about them, just leave them sitting happily where they are.

Ahh fab! All working now thank you!

No worries ... great app eh!

Something strange happened. I lost the Start menu bar at the top. Cured itself after rebooting. Does this happen often?

aahhh now i had that issue but it went when i put on a cooked rom (Diamond TLR).

Ahh ok. Well, perhaps its time for me to choose a ROM. Now that is going to completely do my head in!

Landscape issues with Windows Mobile 6.1

There seem to be issues with Windows Mobile 6.1 and Landscape.
If you switch the display to landscape, and reboot the phone, it will change back to portrait.
If you press the missed calls button in HTC Home while in landscape, it will switch back to portrait.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Alright, I fixed the missed calls issue with a new dialer, but the phone still consistantly boots into Portrait.
i'm not too sure but i would assume u have a kaiser...and when u say it boots into portrait i assume its a soft reset or a power on...and i assume that when you're in landscape mode u have the hardware keyboard slid out...if it boots to portrait...cant u just slide in n out the keyboard to have it go back to landscape?
Sure, when I slide out the keyboard, it goes into landscape. However, when I close it again, it goes back into portrait.
If, after the phone has booted, I go into Screen options and change it back to Landscape, it will stay in landscape regardless of what I do.
When I soft-reset, it goes back into portrait. If they keyboard is open, it will start in portrait, then shift into landscape. Upon closing the keyboard, it's back to portrait.
This is the default behavior for HTC devices. My Wizard did this just like my Tilt. I would suspect the cause is because when you slide out the hardware keyboard, a sensor activates a service running in the WM subsystem that tells WM to rotate the screen.
However, if you actually go into the screen options and change the default screen orientation to landscape, the registry is updated to reflect landscape as the new default orientation.

So yeah, done that.
Windows Mobile 6.0 did not have this problem. If you set it to Landscape in screen options, and rebooted, it would stay in landscape. This issue with it always booting in portrait is new in 6.1.
Same problem here.. anybody found any solution? Thanks.

SMS EMAIL screens in landscape --without using GSEN

Hi guys,
I am currently using Gsen to get the SMS and EMAIL screens to display in Landscape mode, this way I find it easier to type using 2 thumbs on the full qwerty keyboard. Unfortunately it's not that good as it often reverts back to portrait and then quits the SMS or EMAIL screen if you happen to move the phone too much.
Therefore I would like to know if there is a regisry key somewhere I could change to get this 2 screens to display in Landscape mode by default.
Thanks.
Look what I found...........

Thanks, that's pretty close to what I need but it means you lose the use of the 'phone' button. Or does it only work witha long press?
Plus I would really like something which doesn't require any intervention.
But thanks again.
Just a little UP.
I am still struggling when using Gsen as it randomly gets back on portrait mode and kicks me out of the SMS app.
Is there a registry key which says if an app is displayed in landscape or portrait?
Cheers

TP on landscape

Just a simple question if anyone is willing to help
How do I keep my phone on landscape all the time?
I have tried going to "settings -> align screen -> landscape" but everytime i close my keyboard goes back to portrait mode . Some say it's due to "clear type" i turned that off and still keeps going back to portrait [I do lot of texting]
So if anyone has any ideas and would like to pass on plz 'n thanks
If you rotate the screen in closed-keyboard(portrait) to landscape,it keeps all the time in LS mode all the time after(keyboard in/out doesn't matter).. You can do it using mortscript,SPB PocketPlus or in a different way.
I have got a opera mobile 9.7 beta and when you rotate screen on landscape with this software and press home button, your screen will be still on landscape
// It is some BUG of opera, but you can use it

And also i found program called GSen ot rotates your touch pro !
If you have sk tools (probably even the free version), use the shortcut manager to create a landscape mode shortcut, then copy it into \windows\startup. You should be good to go.

In changeScreen you have the choise which orientation you want to use by default. And you can make exceptions. For example, I hate it when bubble breaker starts a new game when I tilt my phone to far, so I've set it up in a way it only uses portrait.

hehe im trying to do the exact opposite
I want tf3d to be in portrait all the time, regardless of keyboard in or out.
If i figure out how, ill let you know because it should be easy then to convert to landscape only.

any luck bud?
Nope sorry
I had another thread going and their were a few suggestons but it didnt make any difference.
why not just use screenchanger 2.8 and set default only 2 the landscape of your choice (dont know if ur right or left handed)???
if u chose "enable" and "run on startup" wouldnt that fix everything w/o out using some stupid glich?
all the programs that i have used like gsen etc, dont override the keyboard slide. It seems to have some hardwired switch which overrides all of those programs and forces landscape, and then back to portrait when you slide it back in.

Disable autorotation during sliding keyboard

Hello.
I asked this already 100x,but I got no answer,so I try again.
Is there a way to disable automatic rotation when sliding the keyboard out?
I hate it.
If I need,I can do it manually(maybe 1% of the time I need landscape) and the rotation is unwanted slowdown.
Can someone modify the sensor driver or show me another way,how to achieve this please?
I'll be soooooo lucky then.
Thanks.
?
How do you use the keyboard if the screen is not in landscape mode ?
I doubt there's a know method, because you're maybe the only person in the word who don't want the landscape mode when using the keyboard..

Mostly I am using keyboard for ICQ for really short messages.
Few words I want to write will take 3 seconds normally, but with rotation it takes 20.
It makes me no problem to write "Hi" when notrotated screen.
If you screen rotation back and forth takes 17 seconds,
then there's something wrong with your ROM...
Anyway, I'll try to make a little app for you, but I don't know if it's going to work...

Please don't solve this. I want to solve just a simple thing - rotation disable.
Simple

I have the perfect idea.....if you don't like or use landscape and you don't want the screen to rotate......DONT SLIDE OUT THE KEYBOARD.....lol.....i'm sure you know there is an on screen keyboard to use in portrait mode when you want to text or instant message. Pretty simple.
I do find it very weird that something like that would bother you, besides the fact that the rotation can lag at times. You should have got an Iphone or something without a keyboard.
I couldn't find any way to make Windows stay in portrait mode, BUT... when you're in landscape it will stay in it! I mean, screen won't change to portrait, when keyboard will be closed. So maybe you want to stay in landscape instead? I've written tiny app to change rotation back and forth...
1. I bought TP,because I USE keyboard(One more thing that leads me to upgrade from Himalaya)
2.Thanks,that I know. Maybe the driver has hardcoded the angle to rotate(270dgs) and I want to change this angle to zero(or in a better way to disable it completely),but don't know how.
I want to use portrait instead of landscape, because is much comfortable for me for 90% of time and apps. I can easily switch to ls by pressing a button.

No TF3D2 landscape

Does anyone know of a way to lock tf3d2 in portrait mode? I never use TF3D2 in landscape, and all it does is get in the way when i try and write a message, often lagging, then opening TF3D2 in landscape over the top of my new message.
Would be sweet if theres a way to completely remove landscape tf3d2, or simple remove the setting that triggers landscape in Touchflo when keyboard is open (but still triggers it for all other apps).
Cheers
yeah!
I'd like to have the tf3d menu in landscape - but the tf3d2 in portrait mode :-D

that wouldnt be bad, i thught of that. But it still lags, some often ill hit new message slide the keyboard and it goes back to landscape tf3d2 (even the tf3d landscape in the old tf3d did this).
Give this a try
Edit EnableLanscape value to false in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila
*nevermind, tried it on my device and it just made the tabs disappear
I don't even know why they're (ROM devs) are using TF3D2 in their ROMS. It's a buggy pile. Try opening up the Comm Mgr. in landscape mode, and then attempt to turn something on/off.
You can't.
