Guys,
When I got my P3600 some weeks ago I didn't experience any problems with problems with calls dropping. But ever since I've upgraded to WM6 I am experiencing this problem... the calls drop at random, sometimes I can talk for hours without any disconnect, and sometimes the call drops and I cannot even call the person back... And even after downgrading to the shipped rom, I still have this problem... That made me wonder if maybe I have had problem when I got the device but at that point I was just lucky not to have calls dropping.
Yesterday was the last time a call dropped on me. I couldn't call the person back, the phone didn't establish a new connection. When I finally got the person back on the phone (2 minutes later) he/she said that the whole time she thought I was driving through a tunnel and that I would reconnect because... I stayed connected at the other phone... After 2 minutes, she said, the connection was finally broken and that's when I was able to call again.
So sounds to me that windows mobile disconnects me and that the operators network still keeps my number connected.
Well, needless to say, I want to fix this issue. I have a 3G Vodafone NL subscription but I read that 3G could be the cause of my issue. so I've just disabled 3G. Now I'm just running on GPRS... Which isn't how I want it to stay. Any ideas, same experience/ pointers how to solve this?
Thnx. Arend
Reply from HTC
This is the reply I got from HTC:
Try to remove it off 3G go to settings / phone / band - then select GSM from the top drop down menu.
Should now reset.
If it comes up with an error, turn on flight mode then do the above again.

So based on this reply it seems that 3G might be causing my issue.
I replied to HTC:
I have followed your instructions but now I can only use gprs... but I have a 3G subscription with my provider. So even if this workaround works, it's not to my satisfaction.
Pls advice.

I'll post their reply.
Further, if someone has more info on the subject please let me know.
Same problem here...
No issues before upgrading to WM6. Sometimes the call drops out after a few minutes, sometimes a few seconds, and sometimes already after a few rings. The other day I had to make a call 5 or 6 times to finish the conversation - very annoying...
I'm running the first official Australian WM6 release for Dopod/HTC, i.e. the one that got pulled off the web for a while. Possibly going to the newer release of the ROM update solves the problem? Even though I think both versions run on the same radio ROM.
I've used the same rom as you to upgrade to WM6. But in my case, even when downgrading to the shipped rom, I still had calls dropping. And like you, sometimes after minutes, seconds etc.
Still having no drops since I have turned 3G off. But I just wanted to look something up on the internet... took minutes to get the info on my screen with GRPS, so it's not much like a solution.
This is the reply of HTC:
Dear sir,
Regarding your situation with the device , I would suggest you, to? resolve your issue with the network coverage ,to practice a hard reset on your mobile with the following step:
START -> Setting->System->CLEAR STORAGE and follow the procedure, if you have already done this manipulation , I would direct you? to this service and check the right number on this area with your network ush the green button to call->then go to menu-> option ->Services->select the on the following list ->Voice mail etc-> and then get setting -> and check that the number is right with your network provider.

Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, I have performed hard resets... indeed, multiple
The second action they adviced, sounded a bit strange to me. But when I retrieved the settings I saw that there was no number filled in for voicemail. So I've entered 1233 (Vodafone NL voicemailnumber).
So maybe the last action has nothing to do with my issue, but who knows.
So now I am running again on 3G. I'll keep y'all posted.
Just checked it on my device and there is already an entry under voice mail. So I severly doubt that it has anything to do with the voice mail settings, too.
No, I guess you are right.
Further, since I am running 3G my signal I noticed my signal is weaker then running GPRS-only. My calls have not dropped since but I do get complaints that people sometimes cannot hear what I say because my line goes dead, and a moment later it's back again.
I've got another reply from HTC:
---
If a hard reset didn't solve the problem and the problem only occurs when switching to 3G, than this can be caused by the following;
1. Problem with the device.
2. Problem with the network, ???
I would suggest to test your SIM in another HTC device with 3G and see what happens. If it happens again than it is a? problem with the network. If it works with that 3G device than it could be a faulty device. The experience is that it is related to the 3G network himself. If it is a network issue, than you can ask them to deactivate the 3G/HSDPA.
We can't find this out for you in the UK, you need to see if you could determine the problem yourself.
---
Thus the support of HTC.
So now I have written an email to vodafone. I'll keep you posted.

Ok... but I'm somewhat confused... are you experiencing the same problem with 1.41.00.11? Or did you solve the problem by flashing to 1.41.00.11?
2----> solve by reflashing with 1.41.00.11
Ok, I've upgraded to 1.41.00.11.
So far, I've experienced no calls dropping on me.
Nevertheless, I've also made a phonecall to Vodafone explaining the issue. They acknowlegde the issue... SAY WHAT?!! Yes... they acknowledge the issue and recommend turning the device to GRPS only. WHAT?!!.. Chill, they can at least try that, who knows, maybe I would have said yes.
So, I explained GPRS only is not an option since it is a tiny bit slower then what I am paying for.
They've put the call through to their 2nd line and keep me informed. So as soon as I hear something I will get back to you.
ps. What I found very great is that they did not cut it off with "Ow, you are using the HTC P3600... I'm sorry, we do not support that device." Vodafone NL, keep up this great level of support!
Ok, so far I've heard nothing from Vodafone. And so far I have had one call that dropped. So although that is a huge improvement, it still sucks.
So... now what? The way I see it:
1. I want to have fast internet on my PDA (3G), so only GPRS is not an option
2. There are problems with the 3G network which make calls drop every now and then
3. Vodafone isn't going to fix this in a short period of time.
So the question is: what is more import to me: 3G or a reliable phone connections?
The answer is: reliable phone connection.
So I will switch my network to GSM instead of auto and when
I really need fast internet I will switch to 3G.
Case closed... well, not really... but still, case closed.
Hi
I think is not the operator problem and could be the phone problem, I am using the D810 in Singapore with Starhub and have the same problem with drop calls once I use 3G network. If I switch to GSM only than is perfect no drop calls and calls quality improve also.
So sad having a 3.5G phone and can't use 3.5G service
Could be, but HTC and Vodafone confirmed me that it has to do with the 3G network. And I do not want to know the technical details about all that so I'll leave it at that.
In the phone options under the advanced Tab there is the option to reject calls and generate an automatic text message; has anybodt got this to work? It simply does nothing for me. Thanks.
Anybody have this issue?
Can somebody confirm that the reject calls text message generate function works on the Diamond......Mine does not and I'm wondering is there a Registry switch. Thanks.
just trying it now, but seems just to send it to the voicemail instead. Maybe we need to turn voicemail divert off first?
would try that, but for some reason, t-mobile doesn't seem to want to let me turn my diverts off!!
Anyone on another network care to try??

How do you turn diverts off??...cant seem to find anywhere in the phone that gives you that option ie options like when busy divert calls, when out of range divert calls etc etc
start>settings>phone>services tab
highlight call forwarding and then tap the get settings button.
Voila, Call divert options

Btw your right, i tried to disable the voicemail feature...and it didnt work...if i press the ignore button it diverts to the voicemail...hmmm strange...
i think we need someone not on t-mobile to try it. t-mo UK is a PITA when it comes to changing stuff like voicemail settings.
Don't still have my O2 sim so couldn't try that, and am working from home for a bit today so i'm kinda stuck.
Might ask one of the guys at work to try one of our other diamonds with an orange SIM and see if that does the trick....

Its strange because on my nokia n95 8gb phone i could easily turn my voicemail on and off whenever i chose.
I did notice after i had unticked the voicemail boxes...pressed ok then exited...went back into the phone settings and saw that the boxes were ticked....as i said its strange. Because sometimes i just want the caller to hear a busy tone or the reject tone...
Hopefully someone can try with a different sim and see what happens.
it could just be that T-Mobile don't like the commands coming from the windows mobile devices then. I've only been with t-mobile since i had WM devices - about 4 years now - and i never really bothered using my other devices on the network. I think i have an old Sony Z5 around somewhere, i might charge it up and turn the voicemail off with that and then see if that helps.

Could be.,..i dont know as the Diamond is my first WM device that ive been impressed with enough to keep it.
Might give tmobile a call later and see what they have to say about it. Although i dont think im going to have much luck as when i rung them uip about mms settings they said they dont support Diamond..so couldnt help me out there.
that sounds about right for T-mo customer services.
If you can get past the usual shower of muppets on first level and get through to the guys in advanced connectivity in Doxford or Greenock, they should either be able to help or refer you to someone who can....
If i have to call them now, i refuse to speak to the lower levels and ask straight for advanced connectivity. Last time i got through (back in the days when i had my magician), was cos they'd changed their MMS settings. Finally got through to AC and they had me sorted in under 2 minutes! it's just the call filterers on levels 1 and sometimes 2 that cause the problems usually.

I have flashed the German 1.93 update to my Touch Diamond without problems and the phone is working well -- however, I don´t have the "advanced" tab in the phone option!! (and before anyone asks, no I also don´t have the German "Erweitert" Tab there).
Anyone know what´s going on here?
I´d like to turn off the short vibration the phone makes when a call is established.
Thanks // Tom
I have an unlocked At&T tilt and my service t-mobile. Lately my text messages have not been able to send. I can recieve text but i cannot reply. I'm thinkin its cuz i dropped my phone before but maybe thats not the case..Does anybody know what the problem is? I have full reception nd everything also when i try to send text. Thanks
Do you have the funds to send it?
Yeah i have unlimited texting. ive had the phone for like 3 months now. nd im just now experiencing this problem
This might be a longshot, but...
Do you happen to know if the people you are having problems with "Replying" to are using a Samsung phone?
I have three contacts in my list and am unable to reply to them. They are all using Samsung phones. Instead I have to create a new message each time I reply to them, which is quite cumbersome as I normaly turn of my phone right after sending, so I'd first read the "Your message could not be sent" notification a day or so later
I've tried replying to them with dumbphones aswell with the same problem, so I don't think it's WM specific though
I have no idea...everytime my message doesnt send, it says "error sychronizing". i dont know what that means but i know it has somethin to do with the active sync
Error sync?
Uhmm... are you sure your not using Outlook or something else? Might be you just selected wrong... But here are the tipical reasons why a mobile cannot send a text message:
-Lack of funds
-Config error (wrong message service center number, but normally config is auto)
-Lack of network connectivity
-Other phone disable, unavailable, disconnected
-Provider error
my phones done that a few times I just wait a few mn then try again and it usually works but on the otherhand trying to send and recive pics has always been a pain for me.
I dont know...i still have this problem. Sometimes it sends, but most of the time it doesnt. it pisses me off. everytime it doesnt send, it always says "error synchronizing". Maybe its cuz i have an unlocked phone?
That my be it. Because you know, you're the only one with an unlocked phone.
Seriously Have you tried a Hard Reset. Back up you stuff first.
You may try another ROM just to see if that ROM has a bug.
Same problem
hi i been having the same problem
steps i tried:
turn phone off and on
soft and hard reset
flashing new roms
inserting a different sim card. and they have no problem texting
take out all sd cards battery and turn phone off and on
and i am still unable to text it works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. full reception and everything i can receive text from everyone but i cant reply to none. girlfriend has a samsung blackjack but we never had a problem texting eachother before and friends with iphones various phones but i still cannot send a text!EVERYTHING ON THE PHONE IS FINE EXCEPT TEXT!!!!
weird, Im having the same problem. Sometimes It says error sending message try again. When I touch the try again it sends again sometimes it doesnt send and sometimes it does send but they person recieves the message like 4 times. Its annoying..it recently started to do this. About 2 weeks ago roughly. I dont really remember. Im thinking about switching radios but I dont know which one to use. Im in Houston any suggestions?
Faced that before too
Either
you don't have good signal
Or
the contact name contains <> brackets as shown or other symbols in his/her name
You can try sending to a number 1st without opening the contacts
If it works, you have no settings problem and try changing the contacts name displayed
if not
try hard resetting
Good luck
EDIT: the above is for cannot be sent msg

I get this message every once in a great while on a stock Tilt. It's frustrating when I've typed in a really long message! Only once have I noticed that I lost my connection/signal.
This problem is almost as annoying as the fact that I can sit perfectly still in my living room, and go from full signal to one bar a dozen times during a conversation.
same thing is happening with me. the last couple days i would get peoples text messages late, and then today it started, where i couldnt sent text messages, and i would get that "cant send text" message.
and ive upgraded to a new rom, then it started to happen, i dunno if its the rom, my phone, or maybe my sim card.
I started having this issue 2 days ago and its driving me nuts. everything else works but I can't seem to send any text messages out. I can get messages from anyone but sending it out... I keep getting"your text message cannot be sent"
I too have flashed 3 different roms, radios, tried other sims all to no avail..
any other suggestions?

I was able to fix mine by turning off 3g. I have an unlocked Tilt on tmobile. Some how 3g in the comm manager got turned on and that was causing my issue. Not sure how it got turned on since I didn't have a 3g button but with Advanced Config I added 3g button turned 3g off and now all my text's work just as they use to.

Disabling 3G worked for me too. I turned it off using Comm Manager and text messages started to work fine!
For those of you who may not have the same version of Comm Manager, here is the registry key that apparently controls this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\UMTS\OpMode
This is a dword value. Set it to 1 to disable 3G, and to 0 to reenable it.
Remember, that you will need to power cycle the phone after changing this value.
EDIT: It looks like T-Mobile is doing some testing (confirmed for Seattle area) in anticipation of launching 3G network some time in the future. I'm pretty sure that these are related. Looks like all phones that support 3G are having issues with sending text messages.
Eh I had a weird error once. This error happened while I was sending a message and the other person was sending me a message. So what happened, I sent it again after I received the other message. But it stayed in my outbox, so it kept on sending the same message to her every couple minutes lol. I had to like delete the whole messaging inbox to make it stop.
Hi,
I have had the HD7 for a few weeks now... before the nodo update i never had a problem with it but ever since then, i keep getting a lot of error messages for text messages saying the message wasn't sent. This usually happens when the signal is 1 bar or no bars (but signal is still there) and sometimes even happened with full bars.
Anyone else have this problem? I am with Bell in Canada
same also with hd7 in tmo usa
same problem 02 UK
However ive found that if i go into the settings and into the carrier options and switch off 3g, everything works fine , texts are sent and received and i have no issues
this problem seems to come and go for me so im presuming its the same deal that you have - when the 3g signal is low its unable to connect correctly - and since it has a 3g signal it dosent auto downgrade to the lower speed connection - so manually disabling 3g forces it to connect at the slower speed
hope this helps a little
feel free to tell me im talking bollocks tho - this is just my experience of the problem
No message errors here on O2 UK. I've had the HD7 since release & use messaging a lot. I don't get a 3g signal in my area, so that might be a factor.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Hey mate...Bell in Toronto area here. I've been getting the same thing, rather often tiotoo A few times I think it was due to receiving a text the same time or very shortly after trying to send one..it's weird though, pretty much every time I click to resend it goes no problem. You're not alone with that issue mate lol
phew ok awesome then... it hasnt been doing that for me ever since i started this thread lol, so i am a little happy for now... i am going to send off emails to bell and HTC and see what they say regarding this issue.
As per the 3G connection trick, as soon as i turn mine off, i lose all signal from the phone... the dialer just says "emergency only".
Thanks

Oh yeah that's right... i forgot Bell and Telus dont have edge bands. Hopefully the text messaging thing can be fixed soon... its getting annoying now.
I've been having the same problem. I used to send text messages in the loo's on my break, but now if I go there the signal is weaker and it fails alot. never used to before nodo.
This has been an issue for me since Day 1. My college is in a low coverage area and anytime im here, i sometimes get the error message.
I dont pay it much mind because if my phone is showing 1 bar or no bars, then it is obviously not the phone's fault(in my case) but the fact that I am just in a low coverage are and it struggles to get the message out.
This happens more so with my pic message than text message.
Sometimes people have also told me they have text me and I never received it or I'll text them and they never receive it.

did you check with anyone else in t-mobile that goes to your college? I do remember reading where people are complaining the hd7 has a weak antenna.
But even then so, 1 bar is no excuse for a text message to not go through.
I have the same problem. my phone will have full bars one moment then the next it will be down to one and "cant send: text message error" its annoying because i will reply and then look at my phone a hour later and see why they havent replied and the message didnt even send >_<
Some other times my phone get NO signal at all for a couple minutes then randomly has full bars again, its really irritating. I live in a college town where everyone here gets good signal.. no reason for this. I dont really remember it happening when i had the February update.
Ok so i sent HTC an email and this is the reply I got.
I understand that since performing the nodo update on your HTC HD7, you have been having issues sending text messages. I checked around with several of my coworkers and tried to find other instances of this issue occurring from other forums, but it appears to be a fairly uncommon issue. I took a look at the forum thread that you started and obtained more details such as this usually tends to happen when there is low signal. I see that some of the other posters recommended reverting to 2G in such a situation and that is not a bad idea. You can enable 2G only by going to Settings> Cellular. Additionally, the way you hold the phone can affect the signal as well. You may want to try holding around the sides so that your palm does not come in contact with the back of the phone, which can block the signal. Aside from that, you can also try a factory reset in case an issue occurred during the update and did not install properly or caused corruption in some of the files in the phone’s software. Please be sure to back up the information on your phone and the go to Settings> About Phone> Factory Reset.

I'm glad I am not the only one having this issue. (T-Mo USA) Mine started acting up last night with my 3G being EXTREMELY slow loading web pages and then ultimately not being able to load anything. Then this morning I am unable to send text messages, but randomly I will receive many emails and texts (like I only have a connection for a few seconds), then when I try to reply I am unable to send. Very frustrating.
i too have experienced this so here are some tips. For me i only get this problem when pressing send and right away press the home key or back key which interrupts the sending process result of fail sending. Enabling 3g if you dont have it is another problem so disable it. I also get this problem when locking the phone right after i press send so wait till it finish and then lock .
i hope this helps, if not restart the phone, and if that doesnt help take it to tmo and exchange =)
I've had this problem on my Omnia 7 since day one. Always have to disable my damn data.
And the ***** of it is when I go to re-enable data afterwards I have wait a few minutes to get it working again. Sometimes I have to turn the phone off and on in order to get data.
It's not a cell carrier problem since on my Diamond 2 I never had a problem, and the same thing with the x10.
Same problem with Samsung Focus on Bell. After NoDo update, SMS has been useless. I will get SMS, although often late. Sending is worst, I get the dreaded 'cannot send' message. I will occasionally be able to send some. Wondering if it's a signal issue. However, I can send just fine putting my SIM in another phone.
I've had T-mobile HD7 since last november, my girlfriend and I exchange about 30 messages every day, never had this problem before the NoDo update, not even once, no matter how bad the signals were. Im 99% sure its NoDo update causing this not t-mobile network. It's so annoying when you text somebody then go do something else, 20 minutes later you check back and see this un-happy face and can't send message.
BTW, Factory Reset won't help, tried that.

Hi I am using the ATT HTC VIVID from Nov 2011.
I bought this phone last Nov 11, and I stated noticing my phone was not receiving any calls if I stay at home(jersey city). If anyone calls to my number it will not connect at the same time it will not sent to voicemail also. It will say "call couldn't be completed".
After 2 months fight with ATT, they tried
1. they did a factory reset on my phone - it didn't help
2. changed the sim card - it didn't help
3. finally they replaced a another HTC vivid
even that didn't help
finally they said there was issue in near to my home and they fixed it.
now i a started receiving calls but now the new issue is, if I call to my number it will not connect first time it will go to voicemail, and second time if i try then it will ring. (First time also my phone is idle) This is happening randomly and ATT is not helping on this situation. As per them I am not able to replicate when they were testing on my phone.
Because of this issue I am missing calls which is making me really frustrated. After three week of research I found this is happening in not only near to my home its happening at my work place (NYC) and if I go around also its happening.
Can someone please give some advice to fix the issue that would be really great
Is there anyone else in or around your home with AT&T service? If so, do they experience the same problem as you? Can you receive calls everywhere else besides home and work? Do text messages get through? How about internet service? MMS?
Thanks for your response
The issue is not around my place
The issue is, if any one calls first time it will go to voice mail, if they call again it will connect to my phone. This behavior is happening randomly.
It is happening in my work place(NYC) and also if i go some where in new jersey also. I can't tell when its happening and how. In a day it may happen one or two time. I can't check constantly on a day when and where.
Sometime i feel I am not getting call, if i try from land line it may work or it may go to voice mail, after the second try then it will be fine for that day.
this issue look little weird. but because of that I am missing calls.
forgot to mention, that time my internet will work fine, how I am sure is one time i was browsing and trying to call my phone from land line it didn't connect. as usual second time if i try it did connected
Also the signal bar in my home and my work place its full
