Hi!
I have a diamond thats been a pain in the ass when it comes to changing the ringtones from diamonds own to an mp3.
I have tried to mark the .mp3 in the phones explorer and added it as a ringtone and i have tried in settings and yeah just about everywere there is possible to change the ringtone. But the phone wont change it. It goes back to "Ring-Windowsmobile" all the time. I have restarted the phone and done the same thing over again without result.
I have the latest rom from htc´s page (live in Sweden) I have searched and hav e not found anyone with the same problem as me
Any tips? As the current ringtone is so low in volume that i miss my calls all the time..
hmmm.. That ringtone is in the folder /windows/. So you could try to convert your own ringtone to that format (i think it's .wma or wave) and then replace it? Explorer won't let you delete or change it, so use total commander.
If mp3 also works.. just copy it to /windows/ with the same name, but delete the original
1) Put "Message and Event" tones in your /windows/ It doesnt have to be wav... well mine works with mp3.
2) Put Ring tones in your /windows/rings/. i think its suppoets wav,mp3,wma.
Its a pain to open /windows/ though... too many manila files.
Ok.. will post some screens that shows how things look. Now its in Swedish though. But im pretty sure that it looks the same in English?
Screen1: Is in settings/Phone/Sound/ and where i have my ringtones?
Screen2: Is in explorer and the files are located in the system partition i think? Not on internal storage. /My ringtones.
Screen3: Is where the ringtones are placed. "my ringtones".
Screen4: Is this the place to put them? I have copied the files in that folder as well . And gave them # before the name so that the mp3:s came up on top of the rest of the ringtones.. (Internalstorage/Windows/
I suppose i am doing something really wrong? :s
When i choose the ringtone, the diamond shows my custom tone as it should be. But when i call the phone that other internal tone comes instead..
Thanks for your time and answers.
Best regards
U are in the phone menu. Try to change in it in the sounds menu. Go to settings > sounds and alerts (i think that's it in english, as I have a dutch rom).. Start > Settings > top left corner it should say sounds and bla.. try changin it there for incoming calls..
Also, if you want to use your own sounds, u can put them in /Application data/sounds/. This folder won't take long to open.

Cheers friend!
I´ll give it a try right away
Edit: This did not work either.. I think i will try to do a restore of the phone instead. Is this possible? What kinda information gets lost/saved at that process?
DS.
Hi,
I also have this problem but I found out that this is because connecting the diamond to your pc.(as drive)
The phone can't see the internal storage anymore, thus....cannot find the ringtone on the storagecard.
.
On my diamond he default place for ringtones is Device\my documents\my ringtones (windows\rings work too, but my doc is more convenient).
Alarms (alarm clock) sounds have to be .wav, Alerts Has to be .wma and ringtones can be both including .mp3 and .aac. Not too convenient. I hope a cab shows up that will make it possible to use any of the formats to any of the functions.

Den byter så fort någon ringer. dvs att även fast jag har valt en egen ringsignal och att det står att det är min ringsignal så väljer den per default windows egna ringsignal. ska testa ditt alternativ också!
Sorry for the Swedish in the thread.
Found the problem. apperantly i had installed some app called "ringo".
http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/...Type=2&catalog=0§ionId=0&productId=199455
Uninstalled that one and the phone works like a dream.
Thank you all for your help.

Hi,
I'm using 1.37 German non-branded (genuine HTC) and I would like to re-order the toolbar in order to ease acessibility according to my favorite useage. The HKLM ... HTCHome is nonexistant in 1.37. Any new ideas?
Furthermore, the LEAST thing I'm interested in is YouTube. Any idea how to get rid of the entry in browser favorites? Regular favorites seem to start BEHIND the youtube link.
Thanks
Susan
I'm afraid I'm the only one having the problem? No one else?

Interesting. As said before: works fine on Touch Dual without any problems. Diamond issue?
Hi,
Did you apply this:
8. Unter Menu > Tools > Preferences bei Select Page den Punkt Network wählen. Prefer UDP streaming aktivieren.
?
If yes, try to alter the buffer size and the preload at underrun. This will most likely solve the problem.

Hi there. This is a question for the Dutch people around.
Has anyone of you succeeded in intalling the (free) NOS Mobiel streaming TV app? And if so, what did you do? I'm stuck even trying to download the app at this moment. The site tells me I'm not on a Dutch network... (T-Mobile Netherlands) So if anyone has a working CAB available...
greetz! Br0kk0
I get a loading screen and then it says 'verzoek is verlopen'/'request is expired' ?
Hey
On the mobile open Internet Explorer and go to: http://m.nos.nl/nosmobiel .
(Opera should not work)
Or use the nosmobiel.cab attachment.
Good luck!

I got it working, you really need GPS or 3G (HDSPA) or else it won't work.
Video's don't work but on the site of NOS Mobiel it says it's because of Windows Mobile
@ Burrn:
I see you're using Vodafone, did you manage to get 3G (HDSPA) to work? I tried both settings (office / wap) but without succes.
any ideas?

At home I only have GSM but on my work and in the train I mostly have 3G or esle HDSPA. I didn't do anything with my settings, everything was done automaticly.
Thanks a million -Chin- ! It works. I must admit I was surfing there with opera and hadn't tried IE yet.
@ Burrn: Video works as well, on HSDPA though.

Sorry for the off topic.
But any one here have the installation app for the vodafone mobile tv?
the site says that you have to visit the vodafone love site using your mobile.
i think they asume you visit the mobile version and then you get the tv app offered to download.
butttt, i dont get that, with my xperia i just get the normal site (the way i want it)
but this way i cant get the app.
i contacted vodafone but they are retards.
so my question is, does anyone have the tv app?
how did you get it?
and could you share this?
Volgens mij is er geen applicatie hier voor, je moet naar de vodafone live site (www.vodafone.nl) dan kom je vanzelf op de LIVE site van vodafone en daar kan je de de kanalen bekijken. Maar vooralsnog is er geen app bekend.

Thanks chin!!!!! :d
If NOS mobiel doesn't work you can try to turn off the proxy. That was the thing that I had to do(using vodafone NL). Now it's working fine. I cooked it in my personal rom and never had a problem also "uitzendinggemist" app had the same problem. So for both I had to turn off the vodafone proxy.
Hi,
I know this topic is old, but since I have WM6.5 I can't download the .cab myself anymore (he doesn't recognise my mobile/OS), but I know the NOS Mobiel application has improved. Can anyone upload or send my the newest version of NOS Mobiel, the .cab file?
Hi,
sorry if this has been asked before.
My MDA compact V (td2) should be coming tomorrow, and it is the first winmo that i will have. I havent got a clue what to expect, cuz videos and pictures only tell you so much about a mobile OS.
So im just basically asking for any help/tips/advice on what i should do with it to begin with. like what software should i install, what screen protector, how to charge the battery etc.
Ive heard that you need to charge a battery right the first time you get a phone, otherwise it will never be the same? any advice on this?
Any help, not just about the above, would be appreciated.
thanks
I'd like to have some tips aswell ! =)
I've got a Compact V after years of having SE and Nokia handsets.
Id say the only difference is the way the phone settings work. You can change some settings with TF3D, but for more advanced settings, you have to use the WM interface which is similar to Control Panel in windows.
You will get a screen protector in the box along with a a pLeather case, you MUST get the screen protector right the first time. Its quite rigid so can handle being applied and taken off, but the moment you get a fingerprint or speck of dust on it, its over. You just get horrendous huge bubbles underneath and you end up taking it off. Just wash your hands before you peel it off its backing and try and get it right the first time.
I'd say have a look at the wiki here -
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Topaz
This was my first winmo phone too, I'd say they are fairly user friendly and easy to get to grips with. Just have a good play around with it and you'll likely get a feel for it fairly quickly.
Once you get to know it a bit, you may want to customise it - well, you will want to! Max TF3D Theme Maker is great for this. There's a wealth of apps and games out there too, but this site is my main source for any add-ons I want or general info.
Cheers
Chris
Thank you for the advice, its appreciated.
I cant get my phone till monday now cuz the guy came while i was out, so i missed the delivery .
But i will definitely try out everything that has been suggested, first thing i will do is wash my hands, and get the screen protector right, cuz i know that will annoy me no end if i get that wrong and then after about a day or two, im positive i will be customising the phone like crazy to see what can be done.
Thanks again for the advice.
The only thing I miss about having an S60 phone was the Nokia PC Suite. Everything you ever needed was in one package. (Phonebook editing/send texts/transfer files/backup/restore your contents/internet sharing/convert music/Sync files and media/update firmware/install apps)
With WM you have to use ActiveSync which only handles a tiny portion of the above, the rest there is software available to download, but it was more convenient to have it all there in one place.
The Compact V ROM is good, but it obviously geared towards directing you towards their pay services like Mobile TV and Jukebox meaning you get a couple of useless extra tabs in the TF3D but you can remove these if you want. You also might have some issues installing some of the tweaks and apps from xda-dev as they were all designed for the HTC ROM. Stuff like the facebook fix doesnt work.
The main downside to the compact v rom is you do not get the youtube app. You can view youtube by using the m.youtube.com like from the tmobile homepage, but the quality is horrendous. It uses the inbuilt Streaming Media Player and the video is in 3gp format meaning it looks like its been taped off a 1.3mp cameraphone and the sound is awful.
I ended up downloading HardSPL which in effect unlocks your phone meaning you can put any ROM on there, and then downloaded the official HTC ROM that ships with the D2 and flashed that to the handset.
I now have the official youtube client and the video and sound quality is flawless
Here's some of the software I installed :
Core player - video playback that supports any format
Max TF3D Theme Maker - customise user interface
Sporty Pal - GPS tracking software
e-Natives Showcase - task manager
Nitrogen - music playback
Pocketscreen - screen capture program
Resco Explorer - file manager/explorer
Total Commander - same as above (can't remember how I ended up with both, I don't actually use Total Commander all that much)
Soft reset / shutdown app from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535121&highlight=soft+reset
Pocket Uno - great game
There's other stuff, too, that comes with the ROM (stock or otherwise) - google maps, that king of stuff.
The GPS tracking facility is great, I use that a lot. I had a BlackBerry that had this functionality, but there's so much software available for winmo platform, it rocks. And a shed load of free stuff, too.
If you are new to WinMo I always tell people to treat it like Windows (if you use that on your PC), they are essentaillly identical - and just as frustrating to use.
I use WinMo myself so I'm not bashing it it is just a mindset.
Remember to soft reset whenever things go flaky - and they will.
Then you can start troubleshooting - unfortunate but that's the way it is.
Cheers
i recommend the following apps.
CorePlayer (video playback)
Nitrogen (audio playback)
Facebook
Beejive (msn etc)
WiFi Monster (wifi manager)
Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3 (extended config for the topaz)
NoData (toggles data connections so you don't accidentally run up a huge bill)
PocketRAR (winrar for topaz)
Signal (control winamp from your phone, really great app, responsive and easy to use)
Resco Explorer (file manager)
oh btw. you dont need to be so careful with screen protector. if you get it dirty just wash it with soap. you can aply it best while its little wet. if you see any white spots under screen thats water and will dry in a day or two.
I hate to say this but I would read through this forum and learn to use the search. When I started I hated that advice but it really is worth doing. There's a response to almost any question here and given the Topaz room is reasonalbly small compared to say the Diamond one, there's a far bigger chance you'll find what you are looking for quickly.
I've only been here for a few months and have learnt everything from this forum. Searching means you'll stumble upon other posts containing information you can apply too (eg Opera updates, theme's add-ons etc). I also cook my own ROMs now, something I didn't think would be possible when I first started.
You did ask for a tip

I wouldnt have called that a good tip if you just left it at that first sentence, but because you gave good examples, like the opera updates, and cooking ROMs, shows what I can learn once i start reading through the forum properly.
I just needed a few beginning tips cuz i wanted to be prepared quickly before my phone arrived. Now it has, in a few days il start searching properly and learning more on my own, but couldnt have done it without the advice given so far in this thread.
Thanks to everyone else who has posted aswell, the advice is well appreciated.

Just wondering, did you get your htc rom from their website or did you use one of the stock roms from this website. As some of the ones on this site say they're from asia, and the rest say unknown, so dont know which one to flash my phone with.
Also, did you backup your stock rom, or do you just use one from here if u ever need to go back to it? thanks
I suggest to all beginners to spend some time to get acquainted to their new device.
As their new device is running a stock ROM, I suggest the following (revisiting an older post of mine):
1) Install Resco Explorer
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
2) Install all HTC hotfixes for Diamond 2
(http://www.htc.com/europe/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=249&act=sd&cat=0)
3) Install .NET Framework 3.5 (requirement for a bunch of 3rd party software)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
4) Install SKTools (needed for many things but especially for next step)
http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?m_products.html#tools
5) Use SKTools to disable ActiveSync (results in huge improvement of battery duration)
5a) Disable the repllog.exe (which is the application behind ActiveSync) associated with ""AppRunAfterTimeChange"" in Notifications Queue
Alternative way is to install Dotfred's Task manager and kill repllog.exe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3175757&postcount=50
5b) Follow the steps 1-7 in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288352
5c) Install eLiAs_ASyncKiller.cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3048077&postcount=40
6) Install HDTweak for various tweaks (eg for improvement of TouchFlo response)
7) Install sdkcerts (needed for "cosmetic" interventions eg Hall Feica fonts in TouchFlo, slpashscreens, topbar etc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471604
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3661976&postcount=80
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3861405&postcount=2
8) Install Diamond D3D Video drivers using the first attachment from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475493&highlight=ATI+3d+driver
Before installation download and run the fourth attachment (Lights.exe)
Install the drivers and then run Lights.exe again to see the huge improvement
9) Install G-Config (for forcing applications to go into landscape mode)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3848546&postcount=3
10) Install CleanRAM (for reclaiming back some RAM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333
12) Install PIM Backup (for Backing up Contacts, Calendar, Messages etc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
13) Enjoy your Topaz
After feeling that you have understood the philosophy how your Topaz works, move on to a cooked ROM.
Cooked ROMs include many features, thus you don't have to follow all the 12 steps I described above.
Don't be overwhelmed by a ROM's looks. Choose stability over looks + new versions of cabs and TF3D. I recommend as a start the TESS 2.0 (+ its 2 fixes of GoogleMaps and Call History)
P.S.:
Backup your Contacts, Calendar etc frequently
Read a lot & don't post before you search
Cheers

Quality advice, thanks for the tips.
Ok ladies and gentlemen, I post this under ROM Dev because this problem started 2 days ago when changing to a new ROM. First I flashed to "Simplicity" and it's a great ROM in many ways.
Though... And here follows my problem.
The clock, has it own life, and running like an idiot on meth-amphetamine. It goes faster and faster and when 2 hours have passed (IRL time) - the clock has changed perhaps 6h on the phone.
So I thought there was something ****ty with the Simplicity ROM and changed to Energy - but the problem persists! So I doubt it has anything to do with the chosen ROM's.
But as you understand this is more than annoying and appreciate any help you can give me!
Thanks,
Gustav
I have to confirm this problem.
To solve this problem you have to do the following.
You can find the program B&B tweaks in map "Tools". In there you see "Auto sync Clock". Select it to Off. Now you won't have problems with clock anymore. Good luck.

So it's not a ROM development issue then, and belongs in the General forum
It's definitely something strange.
Mee too.
Same here with Energy ROM, Nov14.
No earlier.
Same Issue
Yeah I had the same issue with the Nov. 14th release of Energy. I just thought it was because I had just switched from T-mobile US to T-mobile UK.
I fixed this by clearing the 'Automatic change time zone and clock' option in Settings --> Personal --> Phone --> Time Zones. It seems to be related to the DST fix interfering somehow with the carrier's time sync.
Hope this helps.
Changes worked
I tried that and it worked. Thanks for the help guys!!
I have this issue too (Energy 8th Nov) but the suggested changes have not fixed the problem. As my WM phone is used for work it means i end up getting alerts for meetings in the middle of the night.
Please can anyone suggest an alternative fix?

on energy topic someone said that is also related by importing old alarms from a backup. so maybe try a hard reset and dont import alarm settings.
Allways perform Task29 before upgrading Roms. Most problems come because people do not flash with Task29 first. Good luck.
I never do a backup/restore when changing roms, i always start afresh.
The phone gets emails, calendar appointments from Exchange but i cannot see this affecting it.
It all began at the DST change on 30th October, since then it has just been crazy!

Same problem for me. Started also on daylight saving auto switch on October 30th.
Latest stock italian ROM
OS: 5.2.21887 (21887.5.0.86)
Manila: 2.5.20121225.0
ROM: 2.07.408.1 (80303) ITA
Radio: 4.49.25.91
Symptoms: minutes are displayed correctly, hours increase 1 by 1, noticeably after reboot.
This solution suggested above seems to be working fine for me.
Thanks a lot.
