Hello,
after a repair from a service center, i can see the backlight shine a little at the side in the darkness.
See: Light
Now i wanted to ask, if you can see this on a unrepaired unit, too?
Edit: And if yes, at which sides you can see it? I can see it left&top&right.
BR Robert
Same on my diamond. That light was there all the time.
Could you check at which sides you can see it?
BR and Thanks
Robert
i think thats normal... i can see it top, left and right not at the bottom of the screen

I just got a tilt about a week ago and ive noticed that in the middle of the screen there seems to be a purple greenish tint when put against incandescent light. The size of said glint varies in size but i'm unable to see what changes the size. Not sure if its heat or pressure or something. The touch screen works perfectly its just really annoying to always see such an annoying glint.
An interesting discovery is that when i press all four corners of the screen it disappears and when i press in the middle of the little square it seems to spread out. I feel like theres some kind of material or something in the touch screen that is causing this due to pressure. I keep it in a hard case in my pocket so the screen isnt pressed on inadvertently.
I've searched the forum for any answers but i havent seen anything about it. Any response or help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to get a picture of it up asap but i left my camera at a friends house and dont know when im getting it back...thanks in advanced

Do you see the same "annoying glint" under neon light (not day / sunlight)?
Lots of NOKIA and SONY ERICSSON phones for example get this screen recolorization under direct sunlight - this has nothing to do with the screen being defective but with the plastic above the screen which breaks the light and shows you this colored spots. If you can't see the same spot under direct neon light then this might be the cause.
It is normal that you get color changes while pressing the screen in. First of, you press / bent the protecting plastic and the liquid within the screen which causes the incoming light to break in a different angle, therefore the color changes. (BTW: you shouldn't do that too often, it can cause permanent stains on your screen!).
There sure is the possibility that your screen gets pressure from underneath due bad assembling! If you're still under warranty, try to get a replacement.
yeah you cant see it in day light. but i feel as though there is constant pressure on the screen between the plastic and liquid since the spot is always there and doesnt really go away (unless of course in daylight).
well im thinking im going to go back for a replacement. thanks for the quick answer!
Hello,
if I use my X1 in a dark ambience with a dark background on the telephone, I can see that some areas of the display are brighter than others (particularly the top right and left side of the display).
Its only visible in dark areas with a dark picture on the telephone (e.g. the Sony Ericsson start up screen). If I have a colured picture or white picture and if the ambience is bright I cant see the brighter areas anymore.
Is this phenomenon ok or is my X1 damaged?
I think its normal (whether that's OK for you or me is a different question)
There were 2 or 3 threads on this a couple of months back -try searching for "light bleeding" or "screen fade" or "light leakage" and you should find them
Thank you for the post!
Seems that everyone has this problem so it wouldnt be helpful to return it, right?
How do you mean i don't get it.
i don't have any problems with the backlight
Than you are a lucky man

Thnx, I hope i don't get any problems with my backlight or else i would be very upset
My X1 doesn't seem to have this issue
But maybe I should try with something darker than this...
You need to photograph your display while having a dark picture on it. The failure is a physical one, that is why you cant save it with a screenshot.
Another question:
Varies the intensity of the bleeding problem from phone to phone or has the problem everytime the same intensity on every phone in case that the problem occurs?

The top left/right corners are a bit "yellow" for me, I guess that's just normal.
It really isn't noticable most of the time though, so I don't care about it .
Yes you are absolutely right, they are a bit yellow!
And only visible with a black backround, right?
Probably heat related.
Check it with the X1 stone cold, check it when it's been in use for a while.
Sorry but what is the X1 stone cold?

Oops sorry, regional thing I guess.
I mean when it's cold as in hasn't been turned on for a while, hasn't been on charger for a while (and is as cold as a stone )
Hmh as far as I can see is the problem everytime the same. It doesnt matter if the telephone is hot or not.
Old thread, but actual situation...
I have the same problem: on the top right corner (and just a bit on the top left corner) when the display is on and black (start up, panel manager etc.), i see a yellow light...
Should i return it?
Today I've noticed that there is a light bleed on edge of my screen when I look at it with angle. I do not know if it was there before or it is new,but I've noticed when I was trying to root my 2.3.4 update!
any idea? should I take my phone to guarantee service?
Thanks!
Check your phone with the (uhh..) key combination
It's 3845#*970# in my country, don't know if yours the same
do some search
But if it's clearly a screen bleed, take it to the center

I noticed too that the bottom end of the screen, shows some "bleeding" when in total black.
I carefully watched though, that, it's not color bleeding or LCD issue, it's the capacitive buttons back-light which glares from the inside of the screen film.
I turned off the back-light of the capacitive buttons and my screen was plain black.
Give it a try for yourself mate, if it's not plain smooth black, then it's indeed an LCD issue and you have to take it on a service center.
Thank you for replies!
as you see in below images the light is only visible in close angles.
Does anybody have the same problem?
I've tried 3845#*970# and no problem found.
Thanks!
the left one ? the strip of light ?
i think it's just the led
Hi guys,
I've just noticed on my Xperia Z that the flash module (the square thing) sits off centre to the top left when looking through the circle window. So basically i cant see the full LED light because the top left of it is covered.
http://i.imgur.com/ZQhQDye.png - You can see the yellow LED square is NOT centered and off to the left.
Does anyone else have this?

Same here, i think its because the LED should shine in the middle of the phone.
The camera isnt in the centre too
shoot...
thought you said the light shine off centered
so look at the light up LED....:silly:
now have blind spots every where....
I managed to take a picture of this:

Also reports on Whirlpool (australian forum) suggest the same - everyone has this?

I have the same. However I think we are all confused a small bit by what exactly emits the light. If you look closely its a large white square that appears off center as discussed, but within that there is a small yellow square. (The diffuser does make it hard to see, but that's the point of a diffuser, to spread the light evenly) The yellow square sits in the middle of the circle but is at the edge of the white square. The actual light source is the yellow square, the white part is only the mounting for the LED.
BTW. Your port door isn't closed. No Water test till its closed!!
Hey all
After reading this forum for ages I took the plunge on a Z1, and am not disappointed!
I had one question, if anyone is able to help.
The hardware buttons light up with a nice white LED.
However, the one on the left (select open apps) is much, much brighter than the one on the right (back).
In fact, it's almost as if the right hand one doesn't work at all.
Is this the same as everyone else's phone, or does mine have a defect?
Many thanks to anyone that can compare theirs.
Uri
P.S: I have the grey one with the black front, which may make this more noticeable.

Is a hardware issue, I think.
My 2 buttons has the same light intensity and is a good intensity.
In my previous prone, a OnePlus One, I have suffered this issue: the back button had a lower light intensity compared to the other buttons.

Thanks very much for the quick reply
To be honest, everything else about the phone is perfect (screen, fingerprint scanner, buttons don't wobble, etc), so for the first time in my life I might just live with "almost-perfect".
I had too many issues with iPhones and am worried if I swap it out, then the replacement will have some other defect like screen bleed, etc, etc.

If you can live with this issue: Don't return it!
I also haven't returned my OPO. Is a small detect I think
Easy to fix
I had this issue too, but it is easy to fix. When you open your phone backcover, you only have to remove the speaker and reposition the led. The led is loose in a cable and so you can reposition it until the buttons have the same intensity and fix it with some glue.
On my phone the intensity is now exactly the same and i only needed half an hour for it.
When you remove the backcover warm it up a bit and use a sucker to avoid scratches in the frame.
Well I can confirm that I have the same issue on my white Zuk! But it's not very noticeable so i'm keeping it like it is!

Wasn't very hard to remove, i didn't brake any clips. Use a sucker and as soon as you see a little gap, use a plastic pick or your fingernails to gently pull up the backcover.
After i opened it i removed the tape from the phone and the backcover. After the work is done you can simply close the Backcover without tape or something. I didn't use tape and had no gaps afterwards.

I just tried that; broke some pins immediately, they seem to be of very soft plastic... So i would recommend others not to do it

Same for me. back button light intensity is very low compared to menu button. Its not a big issue. My friend also having same issue. you may get same problem in that replacement unit also. So,better keep as it is.
@arunpkrt and @aniketsabarad If you don't mind there is also an option inside the Zuk Z1 lights configuration to switch off this little ugly menu LED and back LED. The function itself stays active and the touch area is large enough to hit the sensitive zone blinded easily .

You guys are right. I faced this problem initially. The phone was perfect, I set it up nicely and was using it. But after a day or two this back button led issue started frustrating me. I applied for a replacement and was surprised to see that even the replacement unit had same issue. So really no point getting it replaced. If it really bothers, you can take the risk to open up the back case as other members suggested.
I also have the same issue but its not important because im using onscreen keyboard.
Overall is perfect but one thing is missing. We still dont have marshmallow to enjoy before Android N release.
Edit: Happy 500th post to me! God Bless!
I don't have the issue, but if ever I had it, it won't matter as I disabled the hardware buttons once I started using mine. 5.5" is too much of a screen and the 3 on screen buttons don't take up that much space. I am much worried about pressing the hard home button because I read from some users that it failed after 2 or three months of using the phone. I only use it for finger print. No need to press it. Double tap to wake, double tap to sleep. No hard buttons to wear.

Mine has the same problem, if I where you I would just keep it that way and don't go to all the trouble to send it back.
You can also Disable the lights thats what I did
