Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19585 Public Beta test Release reported working just by disabling the HTC home pln.

NavNGo iGO8 v.8.0.0.35389 Apr. 15 2008 also works fine with Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700. This version seems to tolerate better the phone calls and not loosing GPS after minimalisation.

i use igo8 final 8.0.0.31442 with Dutty's WM6.1 Hybrid v2 5.2.19716/5.2.19700
it work mostly fine, i have some problems that after some phone call the gps driver is lost in igo8. but if you exit igo8 and restart
it works fine and has a 3 second GPS lock. After calls wiat 3-5 seconds to let igo get back to command.
if you have the startup problem with a ROM other than this, please try to disable parts of the HTC home plugin.
there is only 3 items which causes the problem: Weather, Music, Profile
to turn them off go to Startmenu\Settings\Personal\Today\
Go to the third panel: HTC Home and uncheck Weather, Music, Profile
turn them off and make a soft reset
if you have the startup problem as time passes after soft reset there is a chance that igo dont start up again
you can try to turn off aGPS also in advanced config but most ROMs come with this option off
if you have sys.txt problems try to have both sys.txt to be in good shape
sys.txt locations are in importance order:
\Program Files\iGO8\sys.txt
\Storage Card\iGo8\sys.txt
List of sys.txt variables:
in post #49 -50 on page 5
for kml extension POIs form www.poiplaza.com put them in the following folder:
\Storage Card\iGo8\content\userdata\poi\
first i had problems to list this POIs correctly but it started to work, perhaps a soft reset needed?
for phone icon to be active in POI info menus use the folowing variables in sys.txt:
[interface]
poi_show_all_btn=1
[phone]
driver="TAPI"
for touch flow addicts try the following settings
[map]
inertia_on_map_move=1
please inform me about new tweaks for kaiser and i'll try to keep up to date this thread...
Yes. I can confirm this also makes the MioMap v3.3 run!

Just an FYI...if you upgrade to the ROM Dutty released this morning then Igo will run with no problems...you don't have to disable anything...
After updating to Dutty's new official WM6.1 5.2.19716 UC ROM the MioMap v.3.3 works (with all HTC plugins selected)!
Unfortunatelly, I can confirm that iGo 8 Demo and iGo2006 do NOT work with latest Dutty's 6.1 ROM. Sometimes they launch, but most of the time I have to disable HTC Home and SR to make them launch.
I will try disable weather plugin and see if that helps (I don't use music and profile plugins). Could it be that it's the weather plugin specifically that does this?
Which version do you mean when you write the latest?
Cos igo should work with both of the hybrid versions.
At least with the first one (I think it was Apr. 1.) I never had a problem with igo
(Maybe you wanna try this rom?)
What I noticed with other roms: if I disabled things in HTC home, I had to start igo, minimize it, go through all the tabs that caused problems and after that I closed igo. If i didn't do that, igo would not start after pressing the problematic tabs.

Actually, its the 'Music' plugin specifically that may need to be disabled (for some). IGo8 Final works otherwise for me w/ Dutty's Apr 29 ROM...
Nav.N.Go.iGO.PDA.v8.0.0.31442.Final
in combination with latest DUTTY rom work excellent here.
installed whole europe (total size was 2gb) with the poi's and such...works 100% so far and i dont encounter the same problems you did.
I'm using April 29 Dutty's 6.1 ROM - and both iGo versions do not work with it. Sometimes i can get it to work right after SR, even with HTC Home enabled, but if I close iGo, I won't be able to launch it again until HTC Home is disabled and I SR.

Possibly one of two things:
1) The IGo8 Demo version doesn't work.
or
2) There's something else on the PDA that's conflicting w/ it..
1 - I've used both versions (2006 and 8) many, many times on WM6 without any problems, so it must be WM6.1
Besides, many people are having same problems with WM6.1 HTC Home and iGo, it must be something that HTC Home does with WM6.1 that causes this.

Possibly, but then KeesKaas and I are both using it with HTC Home enabled without any issues.. Maybe you could try and reflash Dutty's Apr 29 ROM and try it..
assisted gps
disabling assisted gps might also be a solution to starting igo8.
I use duttys news rom also. and had problems starting igo8 . so i reflashed the rom, and now igo8 was running smooth. Then I started configuring the kaiser, and noticed that after enabling assisted GPS (through advanced config), Igo8 wouldn't start again. I now disabled assisted gps, and igo8 is running good again. I have done nothing to the htc home, weather, music settings.

to disable a-gps you can use kaiertweak
as solution for your timezone problem add this to your sys.txt:
[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0

You can only flash a rom on which igo works (wm6, 19716, or dutty hybrid)

Hmmm, so I must reflash to Dutty's Hybrid? Now I have NoThrills V3. Is Dutty's Hybrid better?
it's not a must... but you can if you want ;-)
for me there is not much difference between these two roms (but i don't use many applications), so i decided to use the one where igo runs.
Hello again, another problem with the official HTC 6.1 Rom update ... IGO 8 does not work anymore ... I re-installed the whole software but the problem is the same : when I launch IGO 8, nothing happens ...
Does anyone else had this problem ?
i had this before with previous wm6.1 roms. you need to use kaisertweak to disable assisted gps.

Thanks a lot for your answers ...
I had to disable A-GPS and the "HTC Home" on the today screen.
But it only works if after having disabled the "HTC Home" I soft reset my device.
That means I will not use IGO 8 anymore, and this is a big issue for me because that was my favorite GPS application.
use Ultimate Launcher...and activate HTC Home in the today plugin of UL...
Works fine...

Thanks for your answer. I will try it but I don't really like this kind of applications. I tried one of these "cube" applications, and I noticed that it was slowing down some other applications using the touch screen like "pencil box" for exemple.

OK, I tried : Ultimate Launcher does not affect the performances of the other applications, very good point.
IGO 8 works fine. But when I try to display the HTC HOME inside UL, IGO 8 does not work anymore ... So your solution does not work for me.
bizarre bizarre...
perhaps you have taskmanager bigbuttons installed?
perhaps you have sync kaiser and launch igo just after? try to perform softrestet before launch igo
I tried all of that, but still unsuccessfully ...
Try disabling the HTC Home music tab. That worked for me.
I had the same problem. Here are the fixes, choose which one suits you best (no need to use them all):
Disable HTC Home. Sometimes it's enoughto disable only some of its plugins (weather, music etc.). I like HTC home, though. This works, but i prefer other solutions.
Put a shortcut to iGo8 in your /Windows/StartUp folder. Pro: After you reset once - yuou can work with iGo8, close it, restart it etc. - no probs at all. Con: Every time you reset, iGo8 starts (so you lose a few seconds in life). This is what I use, and it works gr8.
Just heard that the June 2008 version of iGo8 works well with WM6.1 and HTC Home. My version is older. Didn't try this one yet.
Good luck!
latest patch of igo8 (24 june) version fixes the problem with htc 6.1 / home editions...
But i have 6.1 and TF2D Manila installed and iGO 8.3.2.xxxx and it works fine.
How come?
I'v been trying to install iGO 8 or iGO 2006 on my new HTC Touch Pro.
It seems to install just fine from the SD card, but when I try to start-up, nothing happens. The "loading" symbol appears for a few seconds, then ... nothing.
Can anyone pls help?
Thank you so much.
LE: I am using ROM version: 1.90.401.1 WWE
update to newer version (8.0.0.44366) or disable HTC home from Today

its all ok, just post your question in the touch pro section.
But I think its not necesary, u already have the answer.
Moved to Raphael, aka Touch Pro, Forum.
HTC Touch Pro do not seem to have HTC Home. In the "Today" settings, there is the HTC Touch Flo enabeled. I tried to runn iGO with it desabeled, but no succes.
So, I think there must be some other way...
Install iGo8, then search for the latest update. Install the latest update, remove the iGo8 Today plugin in Setting > Today > Items, and add a link in the "Programs" tab of TF3D. That should do it (works fine on my Touch Pro)

Got it working now....
Just a quick question, does it work in landscape mode on the touch pro?
Uhm, I don't know why it isn't working for you because on my Touch Pro it works great. Just installed it, copied the appropriate files for my country (the Netherlands) into the appropriate dirs as mentioned in the readme and that's it. Uhm, no, I had to set the GPS on com4 in iGo8 to get the gps working but that was all I had to do.

Just tried it. Works great in landscape too.
Can you confirm that the maps render and scroll smoothly when navigating now unlike the jerky movement you have with the Kaiser?
I can't compare with the Kaiser, I never had one. But map scrolling seems ok to me.
Hmm I got the same problem.. How do you actually update it?
I just bought my htc pro touch so bear with me please.
i installed it. everything seemed fine, i click on it, i get a loading icon, nothing happens.
Keyboard?
Hi,
iGO8 seems to work, but I can't get the hw keyboard to function. Not one key seems to respond. Does everyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Cacti
i dont understand why there are reported problems with the gps software on this phone. is there anything outhere that just works , without tweaks or anything of the sort?
is the co pilot 7 better than igo8? in terms of usability by someone who doesnt understand how all this works
I have tested iGO8, TomTom 7, and Garmin XT. All work fine on the Touch Pro (but I did not test hardware keyboard input).
In my case, I found Garmin to have the best GPS performance: only 2-3 seconds lag behind my separate Garmin nuvi 760 unit, and <30 secs for first fix most of the time. iGO and TT are a little slower but still work fine -- but other people find iGO or TT to work very well.
Other thoughts: TT has the most detailed roadmaps, iGO and Garmin are average. But I find Garmin has the best POI support. iGO (and I think TT, also) supports TMC but (so far) it cannot be activated on the Raphael. Garmin does not have TMC but can download traffic from its servers via your data connection (3G, EDGE, etc). For me, Garmin is a solid middle-of-the-road software; the only major drawback is no TTS, which iGO and TT both have.
I haven't tested Co-Pilot 7, but since it's based on iGO core (iirc) I probably won't try it. But of course, you should try demo maps or at least read reviews to find out which software is good for you.

To help clarify, there are two separate issues. The first is that many GPS software comes on SD cards that are intended to be kept on the SD, or on CD to be installed to main device memory, though if you buy it you have every right to install it to your Raphael. Since the Raphael only has microSD, you may have to install the program in a certain way to get it running. You also have to be careful of the software version, since not all are compatible with WM6.1. (These issues come up all the time among people pirating the software.)
The other issue is about the GPS receiver in the Raphael. Lots of people are trying different tweaks to get the best performance (ie: no lag) out of their receiver. But it's unclear if it's a problem with a weak antenna, or if certain programs (iGO, Garmin, TomTom) run better/worse on the Raphael. The results have been somewhat mixed but we're gradually figuring everything out.
Hi, I am trying to install IGO 8 on the HTC touch Pro, Raphael. The installation seems ok but when I launch the program, nothing happens. The rainbow circle shows up but then nothing. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. Could someone please advise?
Thanks in advance.

Hi My friends,

I tried to install IGO 8 and IGO2006 on both Roms but it doens't respond.
Any problem on IGO with WM6.1 Roms?
Please help me to fix.
It is running but no positioning
Now I have fixed the problem, I installed Dutty's rom.
Program is running. But now it is not positioning... The weather is a little cloudy, any problem with weather?
Please help me
Igo versions before June 2008 dont work with WM6.1
Duttys Rom is based on WM6.0 thats why iGo8 works on there.
Any iGo v8.0.0.44898 or later will work fine on any New WM6.1 based Rom.
Hope this helped.

Is it getting as far as the menu screen and then freezing? The first time u run it it goes through your contacts list and checks for postcodes to add to its database so give it a few minutes because if u have alot of contacts it will take a while to compile everything. Im running the same configuration and everything is working fine.
Today I have just tried. It is working.
I tried many GPS programs, I think VisualGPSce is very fast for locking. Just for 8-10 sec for locking. GPSgate hasn't locked.
Thanks...
I've got wm6.1 and iGo from jan/febr was working ok,
now i tried to run it after half year and just window's pending symbol appears for half sec and nothing.
Tried to DL new iGo, new install. still not working.
no ROM change/no hard reset meantime.
but gave it up quickly, i don't need it now. just was curious.
here is a solution I found on the net ...
1. Turn off the HTC Home on the Today screen and change Appearance from HTC to WM6.1 (or default)
2. Softreset.
Also turn off AssistedGPS (AGPS) using KaiserTweak. I tried that & it worked for me (& on my wife's Tilt).
I have also found that Microsoft Voice Command can intefere with iGo8 it took me ages to figure that out in the end i had to turn off all the options apart from the phone settings which are the only ones i used anyway and that fixed it.
