I dropped my XDA IIi the other week and it landed on the Power button. It still just about works but the button might not last for too much longer. Keeps switching itself on and off occasionally.
Anyone know anywhere that might repair it in the UK?
I like the large screen and the 520 MHz CPU - is there a similar PDA replacement? I haven't seen one.

ill sell you mind for £40 ono, if you fancy it!
works fine but the screen is a bit scratched, went away for a year and the damn screen protector thing peeled of so it had a years worth of typing on it!
Thanks for the offer - doesn't sound great though ;-)
I had failed to notice that every street in London seems to have an Internet Cafe / Mobile shop who offer repairs.
One lot quoted £45-65 but I got it done for £30 - seems OK so far...
On the subject of an upgrade machine - is there one? All the new XDAs have less power and smaller screens.
i faced the same problem in my i-mate pda2,my friends adviced me 2 re-drop it,bt i sed i wznt dt crazy.i went home n i started knocking gently on da back o the power button from outsyd(near the car kit soket) n it worked!!

where can i get a replacment screen i dropped mine and its now bust please help thx in advance
Ooops!
Hi, I did the same and the people at O2 replaced it for £70
Not too bad, and I got a new casing as well!
Adam
thanks will give them a try
No they don't!!! already checked with them and be sure to check out the other forums relating to this topic BEFORE you go further - check whether it is just the touchscreen or the whole screen that needs replacing saves you time and money as others have made this mistake!!! I think the £70 price is if you are a U.K O2 contrated owner, cause they told me it was double this price and I was just needing my touchscreen replaced as it was scratched up!!
Hi,
I have a new XDA which basically doesn't work because something in the circuitry is broken and it doesn't make any sound. However eveything else works(what I mean is the phone bit doesn't work, but the PDA side of it does).
What that means is that the screen and other physical external parts are in perfect working order.
So if you are looking for a screen or any other major part,I could be persuaded to part with it at a reasonable price.
DO let me know in this forum and we can arrange things from there.
screen
Hi,
My screen was broken also, did a huge search through the internet and came up with nothing. The only thing that could be replaced was the touch screen, not the lcd screen. I had to sent it back to o2. Cost: 284 Euro!!!!!
It's been 3 weeks now, and I'm still waiting for my phone  .
Succes,
Stefan
The LCD screen and all the physical parts are perfectly ok on my XDA.So someone can make a tidy saving by taking the XDA off me in case their screen is broken.
Any takers please contact me at [email protected]
hm
and how much do you want to have for your broken xda?
I wouldn't like to drive this.Offer me a price and I will let you know if I do accept the price.
But no point asking me to part with it for €50 or something as ridiculous as that as I already have an offer for €75 and am waiting for something better. As I said all the parts are in perfect order and there are no scratches or anything like that.So you get a safety net of all replaceable parts.
I am open to offers on this one.
I was thinking about this and maybe half of what O2 charge to replace the screen is a fair price? On top of the screen, you will get the exterior casing, buttons, stylus the ROM,everything. So I think it is a fair price.Let me know if anyone's interested.

I would be interested in your xda
mail me on [email protected] if you like
Thanks
Martin
Hi Martin,
I have sent you a mail at the mail address you mentioned in your post.
My XDA is no longer available as it has been sold to Martin.
Thanks for the interest guys.
hey guys, i'm selling my at&t tilt. the phone is unlocked and has hard spl on it, but still running the stock rom/radio. there are two issues with this phone:
1- the S key on the keyboard is missing (see picture). You can still press the button (takes a lil more effort) but the rubbery piece is missing. hasnt been an issue with me since i mostly use the onscreen keyboard anyway.
2- For some reason, when you put the phone to sleep (using the power button) it'll come back to life after a few secs, with the calender app open. it seems like the left soft key is being pressed even though its not (look at the keyboard pic and you'll see what i'm talking about). i've tried hard reseting and still does the same thing. the interesting thing is that when you leave the phone to go into sleep by itself (i have it set to 1 min) it doesnt come back on! so this also hasnt been a major issue, since you can just leave it for a min and it'll go to sleep and stay that way until you wake it back up with the power button.
other than that the phone is in great condition. there is a small scratch on the top left (see pic). The phone comes with:
-original box
-battery/charger
-carrying clip (see pic)
-extra stylus
-*MISSING* USB cable (you can get one for $5 online)
for those reasons i'm selling it cheap $200 shipped or $175 local pickup (i'm in south florida, ft. lauderdale) any questions PM me, thanks
omar
pictures of the carrying holster i'm including
just to be clear, the $200 shipped is only for US/Canada, it'll be a little bit extra for international shipping... and payment is by paypal only (or cash if local pickup)
i need this gone soon, so make offers! thanks
omar

Sadly, we recently had a case of a member who pretended to be selling Kaisers but was sending out "junk".
So -
If you buy any device from any member having seen it for sale on XDA-Developers; then you do so at your own risk. It is entirely up to you to ascertain if the description of the device is accurate and the offer genuine. You are not covered / protected in any way by XDA-Developers and XDA-Developers has not checked or authorised the sale of any device on these forums.

hey mike,
i totally understand what your saying, and it sucks that you have to say it, but you definately have to. it sucks that a "respected" member of this community did what he did, and now theres a feeling of mistrust among the members.... thats why i would rather do local transaction
either way, thanks
My recently purchased and beloved Tytn II, bought via Expansys USA, killed itself after plugging in to charge. The screen came off, there was a pop, then nothing. No charge light, dead as they come.
Expansys quickly got me in touch with the US repair center, and I got an RMA and sent it off friday. Thanks for replying so quickly, Expansys
Now I have the shakes
Who among us has gone through this process in the US? How long will I have to wait while my kaiser gets serviced? I hope its not more than 10 days ir so or I'll be completely bonkers.
/They're coming to take me away, ha ha hee hee
i know how you feel, cracked my screen & on/off button wouldnt turn the phone off. Insurance want £50 ($90) to fix/replace it and iv gotta wait 14 days!
Stuck using some 4 year old nokia n its driving me nuts, i miss my touch screen!
I called HTC-USA Service today and they told me the phone is fixed under warranty and will be shipping out this weekend -- they replaced the motherboard.
I must say the experience was much better than I thought it might be. After reading some of the horror stories on this forum I was convinced HTC would decide it wasn't covered, or it would take a month to get it back or...
They didn't say anything about the charger, though. They requested only that I send the phone. Naturally I am highly suspect of that charger, so for now I'm just going to use USB from the computer.
burtcom,
where was the service done at?
In Indianapolis, IN
Wanted good UK Kaiser repair shop/out of warranty repair & UK parts supplier - where?
Hi guys,
I have a working T-Mobilie Vario III (kaiser) and just had the warranty voided by HTC because the moisture sensor is activated (they say I have soaked it basically, I haven't).
The phone has had a long term (1 year) problem with the ear speaker not working and now my handsfree kit left speaker has broken so....
1) I need a parts supplier in the UK for a new handsfree kit
2) I need a decent, cheap, reliable independant repair shop who will fit a new ear speaker/fix the connection problem if a ribbon etc on this otherwise working Kaiser. Also my front and back covers are a bit scratched could do with new ones fitting while It's in bits.
I could fit a new ear speaker myself, but due to having to fully dissamble the whole phone to get to it and it possibly being a connection on the mainboard etc, I'm a touch reluctant. I have fitted a new screen to an xda exec and have tools, but little experiece with such small electronics.
Other option - if I put a new post on here and find someone with a bricked Kaiser with a good case/screen it looks easier to take out the mainboard/gubbins and replace them with mine and the 'under back cover' with my imei written on it. Am I right in saying this should be a good alternative?
Any help appreciated, this is a right saga and I really want it working again by xmas.
Greg.
Hi,
I managed to crack the screen of my Tytn2 a few months back, phone would turn on, screen go white, but no images were visible and a big crack was visible on the screen.
Luckily enough a quick search identified http://gsm-support.co.uk/ who are based in Barnet, London.
I found them via e-bay, not sure if they still advertise via ebay though.
I called them up explained by position and agreed an amount paid via paypal (£60, a little pricey, but I use my phone ALOT and couldn't be with out it for too long). I could have traveled to their place of business, where they would have conducted the works then and there, but was too busy so elected for postage.
Posted off my phone, (no battery, stylus, sim or sd card should be included while posting... their requirements not mine) and had it back, good as new within two days.
The phone had been hard reset, so I had to reinstall all my apps etc, but I keep back ups on my micro sd card, inconvenient but not a big issue.
Overall IMHO a very good service, quick, convenient and reliable.
Let us know how you get on.
I used Turn On Your Mobile in SW19
I had my USB port fail and to my delight found this firm near to where I live. They had the problem sorted in an hour and it only cost £40. I can thoroughly recommend.
Cheers,
Ashley
THanks for that! I got it fixed at Dr Unlock in Nottingham, £25 and it's fixed just fine.
Good to know HTC said it required a mobo, lcd, case and had water damage (no damage visable even under microscope, just a broken speaker).
Greg.
Hi Guys,

Hi i just thought of sharing you guys what happened to my X1. I had my x1 for almost 4 mos. and been flashing roms almost once a week. Then a wierd thing happened when i was about to reply to a sms i switched to landscape mode the screen turned blank i tried reflashing my current rom and even updated via SEUS but to no avail the problem still there. I brought the phone the next day to a Sony Ericsson service center and they told me that they need to replace a hardware called Rigid Flex. It cost around $64 and unfortunately its out of stock and will arrive 3 to 4 weeks... Guess i need to get used in typing via virtual keyboard for now. I just thank that there is an alternative to the stock keyboard.
That's exactly what happened to my phone, but I've never flashed a ROM. I've sent mine into SE repair in which they received it on the 22nd of July and won't be receiving parts until the 21st of August. By that time my phone will be held hostage for 23 business days and of course a freaking months time. Additionally, if you include the 5 days it took for shipping, SE repair time that will eventually happen and shipping the phone back to me, it will be an eternity without my phone. It really pisses me off that they don't have those parts in stock or their stubborness in not just replacing my phone.
I'm finally getting my phone back after basically a month without it. They repaired the Flex Cable/Rigid Flex on my unit. Hopefully when I get it back, there are no new issues and lets hope one of my roommates is home to sign for it!
its probably something wrong with the cable that goes from the lower part of the phone to the upper (screen) part. When I took my Xperia apart this cable looked really flimsy and poorly placed IMO, almost as if it would wear out after a certain number of slides.
I already went to 2 SE service centers requested for the parts and they told me the same thing that i have to wait for a month.
Hopefully the replacement shall be more sturdy and reliable though i am getting used to typing via touch screen but the device feels incomplete without the landscape mode
My screens turns blue after sliding out i had first the problem that it went out when sliding out.. after repairs and 2 days later it went blue
So now i can go back to the store ..
