[NEW] Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v3.0 & Using Provisional XML Settings - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Just posting it here for those who didn't see Schap's thread in the diamond section here:
To download Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v3.0 go here:
http://www.touchxperience.com/
There are several notable improvement, the greatest of which is that you can export your settings as a provisional xml file. Check it out, and don't forget to donate if you like
Update:
Guess it was posted in development and hacking as well, just not updated in the title. Here's the link for that too:

How to use the provisioning XML feature of Schaps Advanced Config 3.0
By request of JimmyMcGee, our newest moderator here in the Kaiser forum, here are the steps to adding your advanced config settings to your UC for even easier flashing:
1) Open Advanced Config 3.0 and make all of your customizations.
2) Hit done, soft reset, then open Advanced Config again. Click "Menu", and "Export Provisioning XML"
3) Select the location you want your xml file to sent to by clicking the 3 dots next to the detail of the current location.
4) You will have 4 options, name (choose whatever you want), folder (i recommend selecting none), type (select xml), and location (i recommend the SD card). then click "Save" and then "okay"
5) Close Advanced Config, and navigate to wherever you have exported your file to verify that it is there.
6) Open your sdconfig.txt file, and add following line to your UC settings:
XML: \Storage Card\AdvancedConfigSettings.xml
7) Now you will have to flash your next rom it should automatically provision your settings while running the UC.
How To Use XML To Automatically Setup Email
You can follow the the same procedure for provisioning gmail, pop3, imap, & mail2web email accounts. The instructions can been seen here:

You are welcome, i strongly encourage you to look into the feature of exporting a provisional xml file. You can then use this file to customize your settings automatically whenever you flash using UC.

Jimmy asks and he shall receive. I have outlined the steps as best that i can for you. If any of it is unclear i will make corrections in the future to simplify it, feel free to make suggestions. (some steps could probably be skipped, but i will include them anyway):
Note: I would appreciate it if someone would verify this as i haven't had the chance to flash again to test it, and as such haven't been able to verify it. Additionally i already have a cab which configures many of these settings anyway. I have however followed the same procedure for provisioning my gmail, pop3, imap, & mail2web email accounts. The instructions can been seen here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2532214&postcount=1015
I will update the first post of this thread as well to help out those who would like to take advantage of this very simple and helpful procedure for us chronic flashers.

Auto install of applications, folder making & regcodes.

I am starting this thread as there seem to be a lot of smart people on this forum that have a lot more knowledge about the BlueAngle device than I do and I hope that they will be able to come up with a better solution to my problem.
Problem:
1) Every time I update my device I need to run a lot of setup.exe to reload all of my software.
2) I have to create new folders under "Programs"
3) As I don’t like the default location of the links, I have to move the links into my new folders
4) I have to enter registration codes on a number of applications.
I would like to be able to automat this were possible.
I would like to share with you my solution in the hope that it helps you
and I would like it to be inproved by anybody who has a better understanding of this than me.
I have had to break this up into 3 parts and post then each seperatly.
Part 1:
Auto Install of applications based on a config file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83120#83120
Part 2:
Dos add-on that allows me to make folders, copy and delete links from a batch file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83121#83121
Part 3
Macro to enter the Reg codes of software.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83122#83122
I base all of these on an application called "Splashphoto" which is a demo version and can be found on www.handango.com
(the link was to long to copy as it messed up the view)
You can find the files under:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools
I hope I can also add them as downloads.
Comments, sugestions and better ideas are welcome.
edited 18/01/04 Finished part 3 Macros
Auto Install of applications based on a config file
Problem:
1) Every time I update my device I need to run a lot of setup.exe to reload all of my software.
Now this has got on my nerves and I would like to share the solution that I have found in the hope that somebody SMART can simplify it.
I base this example on the application "Splashphoto" in the combination of the autorun.exe found in the Extended_ROM.
You can modify the concept to your own liking by changing the install location, the number of install files
**Note** the supplied config.txt files is set to turn the touch screen off when you install.
Thus it will ONLY work if your cab file does NOT come up with a message that requires you to confirm it by hand on installation.
Such as "written for older version.." or "Is already installed reinstall?.." You can change that as written below.
Although you are able to install software from your desktop onto any location of your device I have not found a switch for this and am already way out of my depth. I would think that there has to be some command line that that the Cab file reacts to. I hope somebody SMART can Work this part out.
I have added all the needed files to: AutoInstall_Beta.rar and have tried to go into a deep explanation based my own limited understanding.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/Autoinstall_Beta/AutoInstall_Beta.rar
Step 1
You will need to download this file, extract it and copy it to your storage.
This example uses "\Storage\Install"
Step 2
You will need to modify the following key to insure that autorun.exe points to the correct config.txt file.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRunCFG
Old value: \Exteneded_ROM\config.txt
New Value: \Storage\Install\config.txt
Step 3
Run \Storage\Install\Autorun.exe from your device.
This file will run the commands found in Config.txt
In this case
A) disable Touch screen (may be also the phone)
B) install SlashPhoto
C) Enable Touch screen (may be also the phone)
D) Reboot
AutoInstall_Beta.rar has the following files:
1: SplashPhoto.2577.CAB
Extracted cab file from demo version of SplashPhoto found under:
http://www.handango.com/
2: AutoRun.exe
Found on the Extended_Rom.
This file will run the commands found in Config.txt
3: Config.txt
Modified config.txt file with the only entry being SplashPhoto.2577.CAB
4: TPDisable.exe
Application to disable the touch screen (may be Phone function) while installing applications also found on the Extended_Rom
5: TPEnable.exe
Application to Enable the touch screen (may be Phone function) while installing applications also found on the Extended_Rom
6: Ruler.ARM.CAB
This is a freeware application that turns your display into a Ruler.
It has been added as it comes up with a message that you need to confirm.
**Note** if you add this to config.txt you will hang and need to reboot your device.
After reboot you will find the application under start\Ruler and it will work.
**UPdate** By removing the commands TPDisable.exe and TPEnable.exe from the config, txt
you are able to confim the install dialog as the touch remains active.
Understanding of Autorun.exe:
Based on the info I have picked up there seems to be 2 versions of autorun.exe, one uses a config.txt and one not. (this one does)
After a new upgrade of your device autorun is executed to install the software based on the carrier that you have all of whih is found under \Extened_ROM hidden folder.
I took this Idea modified the config.txt and ran autorun in a new folder on my device to find out that it installed all the software in the Exteneded_rom and NOT out of the folder I was in nor with the config file that I had.
This was not what I wanted and did not make me very happy.
So after some playing around with regedit I found
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRunCFG with the value of \Exteneded_ROM\config.txt
This I changed to \Storage\Install\config.txt,
re ran the autorun and it worked thus giving me Proof of concept.
Understanding of Config.txt
EXEC:\Storage\install\TPDisable.exe
CAB: \Storage\install\SplashPhoto.2577.CAB
EXEC:\Storage\install\TPEnable.exe
RST: Reset
Click to collapse
It seems that with the command EXEC you can execute a *.exe file such as turning the touch screen on and off
It seems that with the command CAB you can install an application.
It seems that RST reboots the device.
What would be nice is to work out if you can force the application to install in a different location (Storage Card)
Finding your cab files.
Most applications that are installed from your desktop will create a folder and deposit the cab files in it.
If your device is connected it will kick of the setup routine that will ask you for the install location and then execute the cab file.
It is recommended that your install the software this way first to see if you get a message on your device.
If the install falls under the clean versions then you can remove it with the stettings\remove Programs and modify your config.txt
In our SplashPhoto Case the default location is:
"C:\Program Files\SplashData\SplashPhoto for PocketPC\SplashPhoto.2577.CAB"
I have also found cab files under
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Name_of_Application"
Working out which CAB is the correct one.
The file names might be ???.mips.CAB, ???.arm.CAB, ???.sa.CAB, ???.sh3.CAB or ???.Cef.CAB
I am in luck as in our case there is no choice
Which is just as well as I have no Idea what they mean.
Hint: I use ARM as it seems to work and I its my cpu type.
So what is left?
1) Solving the problem of cabs that come up with a message such as Ruler.ARM.CAB
Solved:
TPDisable.exe ----> Seems to disable the touch screen
TPEnable.exe ----> Thus this would enable the touch screen.
So for the Ruler.ARM.CAB that asks gives us the "written for other version" the following will work with out a reset
Config.txt
CAB: \Storage\install\Ruler.ARM.CAB
Click to collapse
2) finding a switch to set the location of the install to say "\Storage Card"
3) A little cab that turns config location on and off.
Does a regedit of our key with out having to change it by hand.
And has a drop down Browse function to for my "\Storage\Install" folder
Or a better solution than mine!!!!
Next thing I will try to cover is batch copy and del of links
Gee I hope this all was not a waste of your time reading it.
Edit 18/01/04 added Open 1 as solved
Corrected text about what TPDisable.exe, TPEnable.exe (which is turn Touch screnn on/off (may be the Phone funtion)
Updated the section on Ruler.ARM.CAB
Dos add-on to make folders, copy and delete on Device
Problem:
2) I have to create new folders under "Programs"
3) As I don’t like the default location of the links, I have to move the links into my new folders
I base this example on the application "Splashphoto" in the combination of the autorun.exe found in the Extended_ROM
as well as freeware version of RemoteCommand.x86_15_English
I would presume that you have installed the SplashPhoto as discribed in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83120#83120
You can modify the concept to your own liking by changing folder structure of your programs menu,
the number of new folder you would like to make or the number of links you want to move.
I have added all the needed files to: CopyLinks_Beta.rar
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/CopyLinks_Beta/CopyLinks_Beta.rar
I have tried to go into a deep explanation based my own limited understanding.
Step 1
You will need to download this file, extract it and copy it to your desktop.
This example uses "C:\Install"
Step 2
You will need to extract the RemoteCommand.x86_15_English.zip in a location of your choice.
Step 3
You will need to install RemoteCommand.x86_15_English on your desktop
The program is setup.msi and found in the zip file
Step 4
You need to be connected to your device and activesync needs to be running
Step 5
You will need to run the CopyLinks.bat in a dos box
Start menu -> Run -> Cmd ->Enter
In the dos box
C: [Enter]
Cd c:\install [Enter]
CopyLinks.bat [Enter]
The batch file will
1) Create a new folder under your Programs folder of your device called applications
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Applications
2) Copy the splashphoto.lnk to this folder
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Applications\SplashPhoto.lnk
3) Delete the old Link
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SplashPhoto.lnk
CopyLinks_beta.rar has the following files:
1: RemoteCommand.x86_15_English.zip
Download freeware desktop version of RemoteCommand from
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/remotecommand.shtml
2: CopyLinks.bat
Batch file to create a new folder, copy the link and then delete the original link.
Understanding of RemoteCommand:
The install of remoteCommand gives you a new file called Rcmd.exe which is like a Pocket PC version of dos.
It is not executed on your pocket Pc so don’t even try to look for programs\dos.
It is a command line add-on executed in a dos window that allows you functions like copy, del md
from your desktop onto your Pocket PC or from your Pocket PC to your Pocket PC.
It adds itself in the path statement and thus a batch file can be executed from anywhere.
** Note ** You have to be connected to your device and ActiveSync needs to be running.
Understanding of CopyLinks.bat:
Rem Make a folder under programs
rcmd md "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Applications"
Rem Copy Links into that folder
rcmd copy "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SplashPhoto.lnk" "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Applications\SplashPhoto.lnk"
Rem Delete the old Link
rcmd del "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SplashPhoto.lnk"
Click to collapse
Gee I hope I don’t need to go into that.
So what is left?
1) Would be nice if one would check "on error" as the dos screen sort of zips past.
2) Think it would be nice to add a "CopyLinks.bat /Install" and "CopyLinks.bat /Uninstall" option.
As we are moving the links and creating new folders the "remove program" will not pick it up.
This way one could put the links back were they belong before removing the software with "Remove programs"
Or a better solution than mine!!!!
Next think I will try to cover is batch Entering of Registration codes.
As always I hope this all was not a waste of your time reading it
Macro to enter the Reg codes of software
Macro to enter the Reg codes of software.
Problem:
4) I have to enter registration codes on a number of applications.
I base this example on the application "Splashphoto" in the combination with the
demo version of Pocket Controller-Professional by SOTI Inc found on
http://www.handango.com/ (Link was to long to copy)
or
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
I would presume that you have installed the SplashPhoto as discribed in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83120#83120
I would presume that you have copied the link as discribed in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83121#83121
You can modify the concept to your own liking by recording your own macros, cutting them into one file and running them.
I have added all the needed files to: Macro_Beta.rar
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/Macro_Beta/Macro_beta.rar
I have not added the Pocket Controller-Professional due to its size.
Step 1
Download Pocket Controller-Professional
Go to www.handango.com
Browse by Operating System -> Windows Mobile™ Smartphone
in search add -> Pocket Controller-Professional
The rest should be clear
*or*
http://www.soti.net/default.asp?Cmd=Products&SubCmd=PCPro
Hit the [try] button
Step 2
Insure phone is connected, activesync is running
install Pocket Controller-Professional on your desktop
Step 3
Run Pocket Controller-Professional and connect to device
File -> connect
you should see you device on your screnn.
Step 4
Download the Macro_Beta.rar
Unpack it to c:\install
Step 5
in Pocket Controller-Professional
in menu Tools -> Macro -> Play [mouse click]
Browse -> choose C:\install\SplashPhoto.cmd [OK]
This will run the macro that:
1) Starts SplashPhot
(Start -> Programs > Aplications > SplashPhoto)
2) In SplashPhoto goes to Preferences and opens the keyboard
(Tools > Preferences > Keyboard)
Not very flash I know
Understanding of Pocket Controller
This is a very useful piece of software that will allow you to use your device on your Desktop.
You can take snap shots or films of your devices display. Great to prove your point with support.
It has a dos box that in this version does not support Batch files.
It has a file explorer of both desktop and device.
And what I need for this Macro recording.
(Personal pick I admit to it )
Soti if you read this post:
Qestion Is there much point in having my device on desktop if I cant even copy a text out of notepad into it?
Macro_beta.rar has the following files:
SplashPhoto.cmd
Understanding SplashPhoto.cmd
This is a text file that records the mouse event on a X/Y postion as well as other actions
That is also its downfall as you links will move as they are sorted in your folder.
Add to this that the start menu might be of a different hight.
The itemes in the start menu might have changed order
SplashPhoto.cmd
MouseEvent 0x0 0x2444 0x800
SleepEx 0xc8
MouseEvent 0x1 0x2444 0x800
SleepEx 0xd48
MouseEvent 0x0 0x3777 0xe0cc
SleepEx 0xc8
...........

So what is left?
1) Work out if there is a option to input in a text mode

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83122#83122
I think I would simply use backup intead
i would like to know which .cab files MUST be kept in there....
Well the extrom should have the resco cabs to be able to hack the reg. (or what ever reg application you want to use).
If you don't have that then you cant change the keys to point to the new auto run as well as the new config.txt
As you will be installing of a different location the unlock cab is not needed but would be nice to have.
My smart suggestion
Hi MDAIII user,
Gr8 thing to be posted, but I follow a bit smarter way....
I use SPB Clone to take the Cloning image of all the device and after updating or after say if device got hard reset, I just restore that clone image...it restores all the data including the call history SMS and the installed softs with registration codes....
It also restores the extended ROM if one has unlocked it and the storage data too!!!!!
I hope, this information will be useful for all
Would a clone of a 1.22 Rom which is restored on a device that you just upddated to a 1.40 rom not sort of mess it up??????
Hi Man,
Logically yes, but I hv not encountered yet......

Change pop-up dialogue sound? not avail. in sounds & notifications menu

I'm trying to change the sound WM uses for the pop-up dialogue (for instance, you install a program and a dialogue pops up and says you have to restart... that sound). I've gone through every option available in Settings/Sounds & Notifications, but there's no entry for it. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

This is what I did (altho the results of the following steps are entirely YOUR responsibility):
1. MAKE BACKUPS! From Activesync, "Explore" the phone. i.e. in a Windows Explorer window.
2. Dbl-click "My Windows Mobile Device". Dbl click the "Window" subdirectory.
3. Sort by filetype.
4. Navigate to where ".wav" files are.
5. Select all the ".wav" files and copy them all en masse to a separate directory on your PC. (all the hidden system wav files should also have been copied in the process).
6. play all the wav files until you find the one that irritated you the first time.
7. open a registry editor of your choice on your WM device. (I use SKTools)
8. search for the file name from step 6.
9. Try the full name plus extension first. If no result, then try the name without the extension.
10. Replace instances of the filename with the wav filename of your choice (I assume you have one). If there was an extension in the first place, include the extension as well.
The outcome of all the above is your responsibility. The steps worked for me, and if you are familiar with how to edit WM registry items, the steps should work for you as well.
good luck.
Thanks for the reply skenobi. Reading your response, it occured to me that once I find the wav files WM is using, I could probably just replace the sound I don't like with a renamed copy of the one I do (i.e., replace Alarm2 with a copy of Alarm4, renamed to Alarm2). I think I'll try this out first, before I buy a registry editor.
Thanks again!

That might work, altho (if I'm not mistaken) some wav files are in ROM, i.e. you can't rename/replace it.
Your mileage may vary, as they say.
Good luck.

Can I import a *.reg file into registry?

I have tried using several registry apps to successfully export [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Launcher] belonging to a previous Hutch 3 ROM.
I now want to re import these keys into my newly installed Duttys 6.1.
How do I do this?
Scuse the newb question (duck for cover) but on a PC you tap the *.reg and it will import into the registry. On my Kaiser running Duttys 6.1 I have PHM_Regedit but Import option is greyed out.
A search did not resolve it so any help would be appreciated.

Install FdcSoft's Taskmanager (it has a built in Regedit), by DotFred. In there you can associate .reg files with it. Then just run them to import.
Great I'll grab it. Thanks Dave I really appreciate the help. I know you all get sick to death of our newb questions.

Dont worry. I spent 10 minutes trying to use PHM before I gave up.
Dot Fred's TaskManager is a kick ass task manager as well as a reg editor (amongst other stuff).
P.S. Easiest way to associate is: Open TaskMgr, tools, options, Create RegEit Shortcut. This will ask do you want to associate.
Cool I can see how to do all that now thanx.
Only hiccup is I can only run it from my Storage card. I cannot work out how to copy it to my \Windows folder. I cannot work out how to delete the existing basic taskmgr.exe that installed with Dutty's. I guess this is because it is a system file. If I try and copy and replace I get error message saying not possible. Whats the trick here?

I cannot work out how to delete the existing basic taskmgr.exe that installed with Dutty's. I guess this is because it is a system file. If I try and copy and replace I get error message saying not possible. Whats the trick here?

Don't know. I just leave the exe in My Docs, and run it from the shortcuts.
Okay. Will do same. thanks..
Resco Explorer will also do it.
To dotfred from your SD Card, do this:
Place the .exe in you \Storage Card\Programs folder. With your desktop PC, navigate to \Windows Mobile Device\My Device\Storage Card\Programs & right click on the exe file. Select create shortcut. Move the shortcut to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs using desktop pc.
Voilla! you are done, go check Programs & it's there.
this is the steps i usually take when entering in a reg file. I use resco explorer for all this. I double click. Then I make sure I close resco through the menu exit and not the X button. Then I continue to play around with my phone for a while opening up menus and stuff. Then I soft reset. Doing these steps, I for sure get my stuff to work. There might be some unnecessary steps I take, but I end up with what I want. Many people have trouble keeping their registry stuff to stick. The steps I take, I never worry about that.

Thanks for the tip. Was not aware you could make shortcuts this way. Running from the card appeals because the .exe will still be there after reflashing a new ROM and I will only need to move/copy the shortcut. Being a newb I have been somewhat reluctant to run apps from the card but I am gathering that is is a quite an acceptable thing to do.
Is there a way to place registry keys inside a CAB so that they will get imported when the CAB is launched? Whilst the above DotFred association method works a treat for me with ".reg" files I would like to find a standalone method to import registry info. So that I can pass a single file to someone else and without any extra config they can import the contents into their registy.
definitely. There are a lot of cab creators where you can just enter in your reg key and will create your cab. Someone recommended me this program. I really like it.

Thanks for the link thomasster. Does the job well. Probaly an overkill (and therefore overpriced for what I need), but I got it to work OK. Also from using it, I learnt that the process simply converts the registry keys to provxml. So now I am looking to manaully create the "_setup.xml" and then use iexpress.exe in Vista to create the CABs.
Is there a way to undo changes made by import .reg file?
I imported a reg file using DotFredd's Taskmanager. Now I want to undo it? Is it possible? How?
Thanks

*Updated* HTC Weather Patch Not Working? Try This.

As many of you know, there are a few roms which do not allow some of use to use the n2a weather patch. For me it caused endless rebooting of my phone until i was forced to do a hard reset. I managed to find a way to get around it, so i thought i'd share it for any others in the same boat as me.
Okay, here's what i did, and i have a working HTC home w/ working weather:
1) Disable HTC Home from today screen
2) Unzip the attached file, then copy it to the windows directory
3) Soft Reset
4) Enabled HTC Home
No more constant restarting, and the weather updates correctly. Please let me know if this works for others.
**Edit**
If you cannot overwrite HTChome.dll, then use use totalcommander or some other file explorer and rename the existing one HTChome.old, and then copy the new file to the windows folder and soft reset, should work like a charm.
Update:
I have uploaded a new version of htchome.dll which should not cause you to lose the backlight shortcut in the launcher. Please test it out, and let me know if there are any new problems related to this file, as i am not having any myself.
http://www.4shared.com/file/54303305/b583f94/HTCHome.html
another workaround:
Credit to Brynwall for the following updates/workarounds:
Can't copy file:
1. Create a folder in the main directory (call it what-you-will).
2. Copy your new HTCHome.dll file to that directory.
3.Go to the Windows folder and copy the HTCHome.dll.0409.mui file to your new folder.
4. Use a REGEDIT program and go to HKLM > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Today > Items > HTC Home
5. Change the location for the HTCHome.dll file to your new folder.
6. Done!!!!
Weather won't download via edge or 3g:
For those of you still having problems with the weather plug-in here is another thing I did to fix it:
1. Go to Settings - Connections - Connections - Advanced - Select Networks - Edit (MEdia Net) - Proxy Settings -> UNCHECK BOTH OPTIONS
2. Soft Reset
It should work fine
Adding Cities to Custom Database
To create a customized database of cities use HTC Home Customizer, which can be downloaded from many locations on this site, or from my 4shared folder. Perform the following steps:
1) Make sure you have copied the patched htchome.dll file as instructed in the first post.
2) I am not sure it's necessary, but i usually disable the HTC Home plugin when making the changes.
3) Open HTC Home and navigate to the weather tab.
4) From the drop-down menu entitled "database type" select "custom"
5) Click "Enter New City" and then enter the relevant data for your city.
6) Click "Save City to Custom Database"
7) Repeat steps 4 & 5 for as many cities as you would like to add.
8) Click and "save" and then enable the HTC Home Plugin again.
9) Your weather tab should now display your customized list of cities.
If the above steps don't work, then try the steps provided below:

Here is a method to get HTC Home Customizer and the HTCHome.dll to play nicely together on an AT&T Tilt running stock 6.1 with no bloatware installed. You must to a hard reset to get this to work so the appropriate back up warnings apply!
This method is courtesy of tbraun on the AT&T forum.
You will need:
a. tcmdpocketarm (attached below)
b. HHCv10b5 (attached below)
c. HTCHome.dll (attached below).
Here's the steps:
Install all programs to the device using File Explorer to find and click on the cabs.
1. Do a Hard Reset and use appropriate techniques to ensure the AT&T bloatware was not installed.
2. Install TCM Total Commander (You can use any other program that will let you edit/move .dll files and install it here.)
3. Soft Reset
4. Install HTC Home Customizer 10b5 (Do not use 1.0 Final!)
5. Soft Reset
6. Used TCM Total Commander (Or what ever program you installed.) to rename HTCHome.dll to HTCHome.old in the Windows directory on the phone.
7. Used TCM Total Commander (Or what ever program you installed.) to move HTCHome .dll from your storage card to the Windows directory.
8. Soft reset the phone. (I had to do this twice. The first time HTC Home did not load. On the second soft reset the phone asked me if I wanted to install HTCHome.dll and I said yes. and HTC Home loaded.)
At this point, you should be able to both use HHC to edit appearance and customize weather following the steps above.
Again, major thanks to tbraun on the AT&T forum for coming up with the basic method. The hard reset is required because the AT&T 6.1 ROM version of HTC Home seems to need these items installed in this order to work. I'd tried various other orders and this one without a hard reset and HTC Home Customizer would only do one thing, or the other, appearances or weather.
how can I load this file if my phone keeps rebooting even with a soft reset?
I have a window of 5 seconds to load the file before it reboots but it wont let me copy the file. Access denied. Probably in use? Any other ideas?

Sorry, it was a typo, i had to do a hard reset. Then i did these steps after my device was setup again. Just do not run the cab file that causes the constant rebooting problem.

Did you perform a hard reset? Once you are in the constant reboot cycle you will have to perform a hard reset so that you phone will load normally. Then you can disable htc home, and then copy the file into the windows directory. You will have to overwrite the one that is there already. Do not install the cab file fix that was causing the rebooting problem. If this isn't addressing your issues then maybe i'm not understanding you. Please explain in more detail and i'll see if i can help.
Performed hard rest. Unable to overwrite existing HTCHOME.dll file. HTC home plugin is disabled and does not appear on the today screen.
thanks for the help skatdawg

did you check to see if the file is read-only? I'm downloading it, i'll give it a whirl see if i can't get it to work. Any reason you're using that particular rom?
I did and I noticed it was set to read-only. How can I change this? Is there a program like total commander that will allow this?

Yes. Total commander should overwrite it. Here's a link.

*sigh* of relief. Thanks skatdawg & P1Tater. That did it. Thought I bricked it for a sec.
1. disable HTChome plug-in from today screen
2. remove read-only from HTChome.dll using resco explorer or total commander
3. copied new HTChome.dll from storage card or any other folder and copy->move to and overwrite in /Windows using resco or total commander.
No more rebooting and Local weather works. YAY!

dont thank me bro. skat come up with all of this. i just provided a cab to overwrite windows files
OK. I have selected my city from the list that came with the HTC Weather but after few days it locks on the "Attemping to download data".
Am I having the same issue or I´m having a different problem (I'm using an city that was in the original HTC list). Since I' m not using a custom city will this DLL solve my problem too?
Thanks

I think it should, but nobody in your situation has tried it yet. If you're up to it you could give it a try and let us know. To my knowledge all this does is change the server it's pulling the information from...at least that is my understanding.
Anyone have a solution to the Brightness Application not working anymore?

After flashing the same ROM and making the same adjustments to the HTC Weather plugin my phone now locks up completely on boot and the only way I can get it to not reset is to pull the SIM card - and then I can't connect through ActiveSync- I do plan on reviewing the forums as soon as I can but if anyone has suggestions on how to correct I would appreciate -
Thanks.

TF3D Config for the Fuze?

Is there a version or a similar software for the Fuze? I would like to mess with themes and backgrounds.
It works just fine on the FUZE...........
Thats odd, I can't get it to work on my Fuze. I download a theme and no matter where I put it, when I select the location there is nothing in the drop down. Is anyone else having that problem?

First, make sure that you are saving a .theme file and not a .zip file.
Next, make sure the directory that you save the .theme file is highlighted when you click OK in the Diamond TF3D Config screen where you select the path. (i.e. Don't navigate into the directory, just select it)
After you select the directory and click OK, nothing shows in the drop-down box at first. You have to click the down arrow on the right part of the box to see the available themes.
Ill give it another try. I'm pretty sure that is what I was doing but I have searched all over the Raphael and Diamond forums and couldn't find another person with the same problem so its very likely that I am a moron. Thanks for the response!
I see we can't use rom 1.93. What does the Fuze come stock with? Is there a way to check?
I'm afraid to mess something up =/

I've done all that, but it acts like it loads the themes, and when it resets, nothing!
I have the same old theme that comes with the PROven 1.03 ROM.
Anyone have any suggestions?
