QuickGPS not connecting, tried everything under the sun... - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

as i've found many others have had the same problem, i get the horrid "connection failed. please try again later" message when trying to download the update. i've tried registry edits, i've tried cab files that supposedly fixed it, i've searched the forums for other fixes, and nothing seems to work. some info that may be usefull...
1.) att tilt flavor of the kaiser, although i did the trick to avoid loading the att software (soft reset before customization)
2.) kaisertweak loaded and agps enabled
3.) has worked previously, maybe once before, however i've done several hard resets to fix other issues and can't remember what was/wasn't loaded/done at the time it actually worked.
4.) i have not yet tried to let it sit there for the 30 or so minutes people say it takes without quickgps to connect to a satellite. i've tried connecting through tomtom 6 and google maps. my phone has never successfully connected to a gps satellite
if anybody could offer any suggestions/advice, it would be greatly appreciated

try to disable agps. It worked for me.

GPS on AT&T Tilt only works 'once' after hard reset

I purchased an AT&T Tilt. I wanted to lose the ATT crap so I picked installed a ROM and started over again. I messed around with the external GPS settings and the GPS didn't work any more. So I read the forums and hard reset the device. I ran QuickGPS then GPSTest. GPSTest found four satelittes then stopped. I ran Google Maps and it kept saying the GPS was not responding. After about 10 minutes of standing in my front yard I looked at GPSTest and it was no longer picking up satelittes. I did a soft reset and the problem still remains.
I have _not_ touched the external GPS settings since the hard reset. GPSTest now does not detect that port on autoscan.
Any suggestions? It would really suck to have a defective GPS since I just ripped out the ATT rom.
If a hard reset doesn't fix the problem, I wouldn't think there is much more you can do after that. I assume you have a warranty? If so don't pull your hair out over it, just get it exchanged.

That posts relates to QuickGPS not connecting. This is not my problem. My problem is the GPS itself is not being recognized any longer by any debug program (VisualGPSCE / GPSTest / GPSInfo)
Just for kicks I did try the registry settings....nothing so far
Same Problem.... Sort of
I am new to the Tilt. I downloaded the HTC Home plugin from this site, and now I can't connect to the Web, GPRS, etc. I love the look of the HTC Home page, but how do I reconnect the Web, etc.?

QuickGPS not connecting

Anyone have a cab or the correct registry settings for the AT&T rom quickgps.
Did the soft reset to prevent the installation of all the AT&T crap, and now my quickgps just gets connection failure.
I searched the forums but didn't find any definite answer to this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My data has expired, and now can't reconnect. It WAS connecting just fine. Maybe it's an issue with the servers?
I can't connect either...
FWIW, after several failed atempts throughout the day, it has finaly just now connected. so I think at least in my case, it was just a server issue. I have it set to update every time active sync conects, which hapens at least once a day. so it SHOULDN'T have ever gotten a week out of date. perhaps it was down for a while? it will be interesting to see if the rest of you can connect now.
Nope
Stil no connection. Even tried wifi and edge. If I keep hitting download a few times, it eventually starts counting progress.. but once it hits 100% still comes up connection failed.
Before I hard reset 4-5 days ago.. was working fine, no problems at all.
Thats why I thought it must just be a setting or something that messed up.
Yup ever since I did that hard reset to remove the AT&T crap. QuickGPS downloads to 100% but I get an error message saying: "Connection failed. Please try again later"
hmmm, ok, my problem was different. This morning it never even started counting down, then this afternoon it started working. However I did install a new program today, so it may have been after the soft reset that it started working... can't remember exactly which occured first.
if anyone could post working registry settings, that would be awesome, or even your reg key so that we can work it out.
So anyone have a key from a working QuickGPS
If someone could just export a working QuickGps key, I'll compare them to make sure that the settings are the same. I would be most appreciative.
Thanks!!
Doesn't really seem to be much in there of interest, but here you go...
Thanks
Thanks.. I also think there is a lot more stuff under
HKLM/Software/QuickGPS
Sorry, didn't notice there was another one. Mine is actually in HKLM/Software/HTC/QuickGPS. Here's that one...
I also have the same problem since yesterday, is that possible that HTC change the adress of the serveur?does anybody new something, very strange!
Dunno, that registry file above is totally different than what my registry setting is.
I googled quick gps cab, and found a different program, gps quick fix, installed it and it works fine. Quick GPS even shows the data to be valid etc.
I'm guessing that somehow we just have some bum reg keys, and they are preventing the updates.

GPS Help?

Forgive my inability to find a solution in search (at least I made the effort).
Stock Tilt
Stock AT&T ROM
Registered TomTom Nav6
GPS worked flawlessly for the past months.......matter of fact, the entire device has been flawless until now.
Tonight when I pulled the phone from my case, I got a pop-up explaining that QuickGPS had expired (or some such silly blue screen). All I could do is close it (I've never launched QuickGPS since I've owned the device and have no idea how it could have activated).
Best I can tell, my receivers are now disabled.
Settings in TomTom still show:
other GPS receiver
baud 4800
comm4
Suggestions?
try opening quickgps ( u'll find under programs") and click download and download the data..then run tomtom again and see if u get a fix
Yeah download the data from QuickGPS. It takes an insane amount of time to require a fix with any program without a sattelite map in my experience.
You might have never noticed it because it downloads automatically when you connect to ActiveSync or other data networks if enabled.
I'm pretty sure that's your problem. A current sattelite map (I don't really know what it's called) lasts for 7 days.
Thanks for the tips.
What seems to have happened was that QuickGPS must have been activated last week at some point (no clue exactly just *how* that occured). The message I got last night was that it had "expired" (I see now that each download lasts for a week then expires).
Nothing I tried would get TomTom receiving again. After reading further threads, I noticed that we should NEVER TOUCH EXTERNAL GPS SETTINGS (which of course I had already done at that point). I figured I was facing a hard reset.
But my solution came as passively as the problem did. In THIS POST "ach2" suggests running GPSTest (included in the thread) after a hard reset.
I figured, wtf....why not give it a try before I hard reset? I let GPSTest run for about 30 minutes until it had acquired a HDOP score....minimized it....launched TomTom....and low-and-behold all is working normally again.
I've since disemboweled QuickGPS so as to never bother me or TomTom again.
Thanks for the suggestions and thanks ach2 wherever you are.
Actually QuickGPS is something you want to use. It downloads the Sat. info & saves your device major time in aquiring the sat tracks.
I use Quick GPS all the time, even if it hasn't expired.

GPS connection problem

I have TOMTOM installed on my phone along with GPS test and Quick GPS Now all of these apps are designed to point a COM 4 with a baud rate of 4800 but lately none of them have been able to get a steady signal it is able to pick up the sattelites but not able to get a fix on them. Any ideas?
i've experienced this as well and i found a few solutions to get a fix using tomtom6.
First you may want to upgrade your radio, try searching for the niki radio thats in my signiture.
Next, open quickgps then open tomtom. once both applications are open download on the quickgps application.
Then go back to TT it should be working thereafter.
You may also want to have assisted gps enabled. You can find that feature on the latest version of KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig. if you are using 19199 rom from dutty AdvancedConfig should be under system tools.
have a good day.
I didnt think that I would be able to use that radio considering i live in the UK. I have d/l the newest gps data and tried that method previously but with no luck. It used to work with this setup but one day just stopped getting a fix
QuickGPS update download via ActiveSync
Hi guys (and gals)
Does anyone have the same experience (or at least similar) using HTC Tytn II when downloading updated version for QUICKGPS?
I'm trying to download QuickGPS update via ActiveSync but it doesn't seem to work properly. It's written "Connection Failed. Try again later". I've got no idea what is going on.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks so much and your help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem before
What I did was this: Go to Settings->Connections->USB to PC and uncheck "Enabled advanced network functionality". It worked for me after that
gps signal
I've been having horrible gps fixing problems since I got my phone it was taking up to 10 mins or more to get a fix for every gps program I used until a couple of days ago. I started using garmin xt and my phone went into sleep mode after a min I turned the power back on right after the screen went black and I had fixes on at least 6 satellites. I've tried it again this time I as soon as the program I'm using turns on the gps I powered the phone off then turned it back on and I got gps fixes in at least a minute. I've tried this only a few times from cold starts so give it a try. So far I've tried it with Iguidance 3, htcgpstool, garmin xt, google maps and its worked with all of them. Hope this helps.

Quick GPS Diamond

Hi to all
I've the same problem that many people have, as I've seen here in the forum.
Quick gps doesn't update anymore. I've tried all the registry tweaks that I've found but nothing. I've written to HTC but they don't have answered.
I've tried quickgps from kaiser but without success. So, I should do an Hard reset but I want avoid it. Is there someone that has the cab for the diamond's quickgps ? I've seeked here and in other forums but I don't have have found anything. Perhaps reinstalling the original cab should resolve the problem.
My quickgps version is 1.0 build 1815.2630. Rom is 1.37 official from HTC, italian.
Thank you very much to all

Sorry, but perhaps I don't have explained myself well.
The file you've attached is GPStest to test gps connection. I am seeking quickgps, the cab that allows internal gps to fix faster.
Sorry for misunderstanding
you can get it from here i think

Thanks a lot, but I have tried it yet. I think that only the specific version for diamond go. When i try to install another version it says me "digital signature with certified reliable not available" etc.
Perhaps because another version is yet installed, but, being in rom, it's impossible to uninstall it. So I wanted the same version installed to overwrite it hoping it will function well.
QuickGPS connection failed
hi all.
i am also having some trouble with my touch diamond (p3700) & quickGPS.
i've had the p3700 for 2 months, and so far so good. i used quickGPS when i first got the p3700 and all worked well. i have loads of apps installed, and around 5 GPS included ie. GarminXT, Route66, iGO8, MapKing2007 etc. all have been working well.
yesterday i decided to update the packedEphemeris data via quickGPS, and after multiple attempts, each attempt would advise "Connection failed try again later"
the next thing i have noticed is that all my GPS apps cannot connect to satellites any more. i tried by leaving my p3700 connected in my car with a clear view of the sky, and even after an hour or more, none of the GPS apps successfully ocked onto any satellites.
in comparison, my other HTC (artemis) p3300 was able to lock onto satellites within a few minutes or less with any of the same GPS apps, also i downloaded the latest packedEphemeris data via quickGPS successfully while i attempted to do so with p3700 yesterday and today. so i know its not anything to do with wifi et al. connections etc.
nothing new has been installed, nor uninstalled on the touch diamond...
so whats up with that???
i have sent an email to HTC support and am awaiting their advice.
i really don't want to have to resort to a hard reset, as installing all those apps will take me a day.
anyone can post their quickGPS reg folder please... from their TOUCH DIAMOND
thanX
I have had this problem where Quick GPS will not update, either from ActiveSync (as it did automatically before), via WIFI or 3G/HSPDA. Whilst at the same I found that You Tube will no longer work so there is definitely some issue with it. By doing a hard reset got it to work again but I think at some point it will stop, so any answers will be most useful (for us all!).
GPS and Internet calling
Everything was working fine unless I installed WM6 Voip application to use my Diamond to make internet calling, thereafter no GPS recognition by tom tom and no luck with Quick GPS as well. Hard resetting the device solved the problem and again I installed the WM 6 Voip application and again no luck with GPS. I did that three times and concluded that unlocking WM 6 Voip feature blocks GPS ports. If you are using WM 6 Voip then you might not be able to use GPS as I experienced.
I have the same problem:the quick gps won't update. If you find anything as a solution please inform!
Solution with Quick GPS update.WORKS!
This solution works and has nothing to do with registry hacks, installing cabs etc..Well lets start:
1)Open Internet Explorer from your Diamond(Start-->Internet Explorer)
2)From the Favourites menu go to the HTC web page(should load, normaly)
You are done!Go to the quick gps and now you can update as before!(It seems that the Diamond losts his way to the internet but as soon as you go to the HTC page, the way described here, the problem is solved!)
thanks for that, just tried it and it worked perfectly!!
Very weird, I had the same problem and the IE trick worked.
Thank you, elflost
I'm having the same issue with quickgps not updating and getting a a connection error. I tried the IE trick but it still didn't work. Any other ideas?
OMG that's crazy!
I was trying all sorts of things and I just opened IE (first time I ever have as I've been using Opera instead) and now both QuickGPS and the YouTube are working again.
Thanks very much for posting, now I don't have to waste anymore of my evening looking for solutions.
Cheers.
The trick with IE solved the issue with me too. That's a bit weird, every other programs are able to find the internet connection through wifi..
