Hi,
I have a little question about diamond ram. In my device memory for storage programs (I speak about internal memory, not 4GB storage memory) is 85,31 MB while memory for programs is 113,07 MB. I've seen other device that have 119,55 MB of storage memory. Obviously I'm speaking about TOTAL memory. Can someone tell me why there is such a difference ? And another question. On device specifications on PPC there is a written RAM 192 MB, FLASH 256 MB. What is flash ? With flash they means ROM ?
Thank you very much for your answers.

The differences between devices are caused by different ROMs.
The "RAM 192MB" is the RAM prior to WM/system functions taking some of it, and so you only see a smaller ammount.
The FLASH is indeed ROM, although lots of that is taken by the OS/System functions.

Hi. i just installed WM2005 on my QTEK 9090 but no i cant find my internal storage card...
where the hell is it? i cant find it in explorer...
If you mean internal storage, there isn't one. If you didn't back up any data you had on it, you're in trouble. If you mean an SD card it should be where it's always been, on the file root.
yeah. it was the internal storage (42mb i think)...
even if i downgrade to WM2003 i lost everything?
yes.
When you formatted the EXTrom to install 2005, you killed EVERYTHING in \storage PERMANENTLY.
oh...
but when i format it using the partition tool i got an error!
just one more question?
The qtek 9090 has 128 mb ram + 64mb i think.
so what happened to the internal storage when using WM2005?
is it being used as memory or what?
thanks
WM2005 automatically uses internal ROM as persistent storage, so that you never loose any data when hard-resetting / killing battery.
Blueangel follows 'oldshool' memory model of wm2003 (lots of RAM, less ROM).
Newer devices which are meant to hold wm2005 have more ROM and less RAM (lots of ram aren't nessesary anymore, and RAM drains power).
I bought this phone on ebay, today i recrived him.but when i look on memory in settings phone i see on internal storage only 94 MB ( of total storage card memory) in use is 13 MB and free memory is 81 MB. THERE SHOULD BE somtehing about 4 GB!!! whats is wrong on that? can you help me please? thank youuuu
1. u posted in wrong forum.
2. try clearing storage, if that doesnt work, it could be a problem with the internal storage.
i am trying to install microsoft voice cokmmand but i get the message '' Unable to install Voice Command to due to insufficient mermory. Installation to main memory is recommended. the device space available is 2134 KB and the storage card space available is 5095456 KB . Voice command is about 4 MB i am trying to install it to the storage card since the main memory space isn't enough. Why am i getting tis message? Since there is space avilable on storage card why the storage memory isn't enough?
P.S. here some statistics about my memory:
Storage: Total: 281.71 MB, In use: 279.69MB, Free: 2.02MB
Program: Total: 200.48 MB, In use: 61.13MB, Free: 139.35MB
Storage Card

is the storage memory different that the storage card memory? ALL the apps i have installed i installed them in the storage card NOT the device memory... i think that the storage memory is the device memory..or am i wrong? since i have 5GB free space on memory card, then why when i choose am program to be installed on the storage card i get the message of no storage memory?
Some programs, when you choose to install to storage card, still install to the phone's main memory...unfortunately.
Go to File Explorer and see what programs are installed in your phone and what are installed on your storage card. Then whatever programs are installed on your phone I would reinstall to see if they will move to your storage card. If not, then they only work on your phone memory.
I recommend you urgently to free up some space in your device memory. Approximately 2 MB of free space is clearly insufficient to run your Xperia proberly. There are still almost 100 MB free in my device storage because I installed everything that does not depend on speed (like video players) or is system critical onto the storage card. You surely dont need 100 MB of free device memory but at least 10 to 20 MB should be there I think.
For example your current problem: When you install a program the system needs to write some temporary files or if you install the program directly from your desktop it even copies the program to the device memory first. Thats also the case if you install a program to your storage card. So make sure to always have some internal storage left.
It seems to me that the memory layout on the Captivate isn't in line with other Android devices.
Looking at the specs of the Captivate on www.google.com/phone I am seeing:
RAM: 512 MB
Internal Storage: 16000 MB
Yet in looking at "SD card and phone storage" in settings I see.
Internal phone storage, Available space: 1.60 GB
Internal SD card: 13.03 GB
It seems to me that the 16000 MB is partitioned so here are my questions.
1) Where is the 512 MB and what is it for?
2) Why is it if I install some app that is supposed to show me external SD usage it always instead shows that 13 GB internal flash volume?
And in a broader sense...
3) What is the general memory model for Android? I see RAM, Internal, External. What are they all for?
I'm not sure, but of that internal 16gb of storage space, is it merely partitioning a section of that away for the OS?
That is my question. I don't understand the memory model.
This might not be accurate since I don't own an android phone but i'm bored

System Ram, used by the OS and apps as volatile memory.

Because the 13gb volume is the "general" volume where you can personally store whatever you want, it functions just like an external Sd card would.

Ram - It is for the OS and apps, they need that as volatile storage to function, nothing is really stored there in the long term, the OS manages that so don't worry about it.
Internal memory - This used for many things, app install and to store files like music, pictures, etc. Internal memory is usually partitioned so that you only have a set amount (probalby that 1.60 you see ) for apps install and the rest if for whatever you want(the 13gb).
External memory - That is just an SD card you can use to expand your internal memory, right now (Android 2.1) it only works to add more space for files(music, photos, docs,) but with with froyo (android 2.2) you'll be able to move installed apps to this external (and the internal 13gb) drive.
Ok here's how it's laid out.
Yes, we have 512MB of RAM. However we as the end user will only see around 300MB of that, give or take 20MB. That's because some of it used by the OS and the GPU for different tasks.
That 16GB of internal storage you see, is partitioned off. We actually get around 13GB to use for ourselves. That 1.6GB you also see starts off as around 2GB (I would assume), and the rest used by the system for the OS, apps, cache, etc...
It's just like a hard drive on a computer in that respect. Sure you but a 1TB hard drive, but you actually only get to use around 850GB of it due to formatting and whatnot.
My problem is that I cant install apps in the 13gb partition, I dont know why..
I tried with:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 0 this is Auto mode but.. installs in 1.8 partition
..........................................1 this install on the 1.8 partition
..........................................2 this install on the sd card
..........................................3 doesent exist xD but i tried..
so does exist any way to install apps for default in the 13.3 internal SD card partition, or any way to errase the partition??..
Try using "apps2sd" from market. It should be app2sd or apps2sd.
But I don't understand the need to do this, given that Captivate has one of the best memory amounts allocated for system.
Also note that, the apps on SD won't be available during the times when apps like "media scanner" are running.
I have a galaxy tab Korean CDMA version 16G. after I flash CWM recovery, the phone starts and only 210MB available of HDD ( in Setting--SDCard and Stodage). I have not seen a 16G hard drive. I had up stock rom but it not change path for me? I need use HDD 16G Now,it available 210 mb I think i don't using ext4!
Pls,help me Plsssssssssss
Pls,help me ....
Pls,help me :-??
Is that 210 MB RAM, internal memory, or external memory? 210 MB RAM isn't that uncommon. If you do have 16 GB internal memory, it should show about 14 GB. If it's external memory, have you tried formatting it, or tried a different card?
It's internal memory Im formated but not change. My internal memory wrong. Path for me?
