ROM upgrade question

I need a couple of questions answered about a ROM upgrade. I've searched but just can't find the answers that I'm looking for.
Now that I have sspl-kais.exe on the root can I just...
1. connect to PC using USB cable then click on the sspl-kais.exe program, get the colored bars
2. run the ROM upgrade of my choice.
Is it really this simple or am I missing another step?
My bad guys, Mods - please move to Kaiser upgrading.

doesnt look like you got an answer..but I bet you figured it out by now. you actually added a step...lol..with HardSPL installed, establish Active Sync (connect to the PC) and open up ROM from where you extracted it to, then dub-click the RUU, and it takes over. I just flashed for the first time yesterday, and it went fine. Make sure you back up anything you want to keep (the CABS, not just the files). Good luck.

From CDMA to GSM, a bit confused

Hello everyone,
I'm currently on a diamond on CDMA, which I have unlocked and flashed many time, thanks to this forum and ppcgeeks.com (which are cdma oriented). Now, my friend have seen my diamond and want his like mine (or at least better then stock with gps and all). The only problem, I'm unsure on how to unlock his, since his on GSM with a sim card.
I've read various post in the forum, some in general section talking about a sim unlocker, but doesn't work with smartphone. I've checked in diamond general and found that:

I'm not too sure if this unlock the phone or does something else. I see a format in the progress and I find that a bit odd since I never had to format mine to unlock it (also I find it a bit contradictory to format it to unlock it).
So I'll need a bit of guideline here on how to lock/unlock this phone and what is needed for it (is it the sim that must be unlock? the phone itself? both?).
The goal is to flash with custom rom made here and install stuff like tomtom navigator.

trouble installing Windows Mobile 6.5

I am having trouble installing Windows Mobile 6.5 on a HTC Touch HD.
I have extracted all the files to a folder and then I have connected my Touch To the computer and have activated
active-sync. I have then opened up the PDA Phone Rom Update Utility and followed the instructions. The HTC Touch HD gets stuck on 0% and the PDA Phone Rom Update Utility displays an error 262-the update utility has encountered Communication problems with the device. how can i resolve this problem?

I read the tutorial here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540 for SD card only (I'm not a windows OS user)
and try to change my rom for the official HTC win 6.5 FRA but in bootloader mode I only get a white screen with a message in blue "Loading..." and nothing else after 40 min!!
Note: My TP2 is NOT branded

I went to the HARDSPL using a friend's laptop with activesync. The tutorial says activesync must be connected to the phone when launching HARDSPL. Once I launch HARDSPL, the connection by activesync is lost and I got ERROR 260
I have tried with activesync on XP and the new application on win &..All same error

I don't think this post is going to last long, since the thread where you originally posted was the correct place for it.
You said you had no answer, but that's not true, you had at least one answer from mskip, and I also made a suggestion to which you made no response other than asking if you should give up.

Even tried: "- anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL without functional USB port ("ERROR 260 CONNECTION" RUU error), you can get SSPL-Manual-Rhodium.exe from attachment in this post, copy it to the *device* itself and run it. then once the screen is showing black, run the Hard-SPL package on the PC and select Manual"
And same error code 260

It is a GSM phone, right ? Not a Worldphone (CDMA/GSM, which has a SIM card slot but needs a CDMA HardSPL and ROM) ?

The reason is because i was going to follow my own thread and do a full write up for educational purposes pertaining to a hero cdma of course and i cant because i cant get qxdm to install.
I went to install QXDM and it wont install got a error saying windows internet explorer 5 want installed?
Any solutions?
I guess i solved my own question i was running a 64 bit computer, qxdm doesnt like vista or 64 bit computers. so if you had the same problem then heres your answer. pm me for help.

Hacking program for reprograming or programing your phone. FYI who ever bumped this thread if your running 7 or Vista32-64 you can run it in xp mode depending on what ver you have. The latest works. If you don't know how Google it. Or partition your hd and install xp32bit you will have a lot less drivers,ports,etc problems.
