I have searched the forums long and wide for it and I cannot find it. Is it simly cooked into roms as an oem package or is there an actual cab we can install for those that are using prebuilt roms?
look here

read the first post. I think you will have to create the Long_End.lnk and assigned it to EndKey.exe

i'm pretty sure you didn't try the advanced google search. Please use that next time. Searching endkey cab on there gave me a bunch of searches on this thread.

Here you go...
long press delay
is there a way to change the durations of long press?
I think it takes too long for along press end key and long press power keys to work.
I can't seem to find the registry entry where to change.
Any help is appreciated.
thanks

I actually think he wants "long press power key". That is the one that is cooked into numerous roms. If you search for long press end key, or HTC end key, you will find plenty of threads. Long press power key is a different story.
Edit: Ok I think I was wrong. Long press power key is by Schaps. He wants the long press end key mapped to the red end call button. If you install it normally, which is what you get 10000 threads on if you search, it installs it to the right soft key.

All you have to do for any of the long or short keys is change the .lnk shorcut name to Long_Power.lnk or Short_Power.lnk or Long_Send.lnk or Short_Send.lnk or Long_End.lnk or Short_End.lnk, etc. etc. etc.
If you rename or create a shortcut name as above & point it to the program you want to run & then place it in the \Windows directory it will work.
You don't need a cab, or any configuration tool.
I know something much better:
AE Button Plus http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php, you can give any button a long press function of even a double/triple click function.
You can use it for free.
I use the Internet buttons double click for toggling bluetooth, the Email buttons double click for toggling WiFi, the left softkeys press+hold for devicelock and the enter keys press+hold for AltTab.
You know you can do all of that without adding a few more mb's to your system & another startup app. AE Button works don't get me wrong, but it's not for me since I can accomplish everything it does already from the registry. (The keyboard driver contains all kinds of neat shortcuts you can use, you only have to disassemble it to see). It's great for a novice though.
There is another easy way to configure this. (No need to install HTC End Key)
Install Schaps Advanced Config.
Then go to Menu, Key Mapping and choose what you want for Long Press Send Key, End Key and Power Key.

I did this but everything except the first two (left and right softbuttons) are grayed out - I can't change what's there. What am I doing wrong?
Mike
same here..any solutions?

Wow - I've been using Advanced Config for ages (consider it essential) but had no idea it handled key mapping. Good to know.
I just tried it on my problem though and it's a no-go. My problem is that HTC End Key is cooked into the ROM I'm using and neither remapping through Advanced Config nor manually adding a shortcut (in this case ArkSwitch.lnk renamed as Long_End.lnk) works - the stupid HTC End Key programme just pops its ugly head up instead offering me a handful of useless options I can't change.
Any ideas? I'm using a 6.5.x ROM so HTC Task Manager doesn't work and ArkSwitch doesn't always open when clicking the title bar, due to the notification drop down, and I need quick access to a task manager.
Btw I use my phone's GPS for work a lot (in landscape mode) so Long_Send is already mapped to Rotate Screen.
Can anybody help?
Guys,
Anyone know a way to tweak the time needed for the long press of the end key to take effect and lock the keypad?
At the moment it takes too long holding it down before it kicks in so it would be great to reduce the time and make locking the handset a bit easier.
Thanks
Al
Perhaps have a look in the registry??...i woudlnt know myself which entry it may be but hopefully bumping this up...will get someones attention.
Personally i use my long key press to kill off my data connection...
Also searched for the key in the registry, but i didn't found anything yet..
I have exactly the same wish. Nobody any idea? Com on registry specialists

+1 .
Is there any other way to lock the keypad apart from the long press?
I'd quite like to change my long press to 'Disconnect Data Connections' - but dont want to lose the ability to lock the keypad.

If you use advanced config and start it up...go into menu and comm settings..you can specify how long your connections stays on till it disconnects automatically. So you can use the button for locking the phone.
Or you could go into your battery settings and under advanced...specify how long you want the phone turned off ie locked if its not being used..goes from 40 secs to 5 mins.
Dont know if that will help but its the only thing i can think of.
I am also searching for a way to shorten the delay for both phone buttons. I would need about half the time...
I have the solution! At least, I'm satisfied with it.
Install AE Button Plus on your machine (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php). It's not free, but it took away a lot of my annoyances lol.
You can assign multiple functions to any key. The way I've sorted it out now, is that a long press on the disconnect button shows up a TF3D menu, a double press brings up the Start menu and a triple press locks the device. And my triple press is definately faster then pressing it and holding it till it locks lol.

Are we talking about the on/off button on the top of the Diamond here? I only ask because I thought I`d set it to `Disconnect Data Connections` but it still will only turn off the phone.
+1 also
It's unusualy long delay...
it is really too long. tweak is needed immediateli
c'mon developers run....
+1 same wishes here.
i've set the key to lock phone and it takes toooooo long...
+1 Needed ASAP
There has to be a tweak for this.....
HastaSSSS
I'm giving this a little bump.
It's a WM bad thing, not the only one
Wait for WM7 or install AEButtons

hold time is too long
to lock my diamond I set long press on Lock Device, and create a shortcut under the home touchflo with the path EndKey.exe
it's the better solution I have found to lock the diamond quickly
I hope it's clear....!
i am missing the Volume / Ring bars . Diamond 2 only has the Volume bar and not the ring volume bar too. is there a way i can get this back?
Settings>sound - turn off Single Volume.
thank you very much. and one more... is there a way when i press all programs to open the programs folder as normal and not through the htc manila?
Not easily, search in the topaz applications and software and there's a discussion about it there. It involves a bit of registry editing, if you're new to that you can mess things up.
this is possible with TF3D2 tweak...
that tweak will close all the HTC Start menu. i just want have the normal programs folder when i press the All Programs in the start menu of htc
I'd like to hold down any front button instead of sliding my phone or pressing the power button to resume from standby. Is this possible?
Thank you.
Many ways.
1. Copy this poweroff.exe (found in this thread)to your device and paste a shortcut somewhere inside \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ folder, then you can map it in a hardware button by going to \Start\Settings\Personal\Button\.
2. HButton is another highly recommended tool, bcz it can map unlimited number of apps on any remapable button.
3. QuickMenu may also provide some useful tools/shortcuts.
4. Important is to know how to make good use of shortcuts.
5. Check this thread to know how to do long-send, long-end, long-ptt, etc. with shortcuts.
6. If poweroff.exe can not resune, maybe can use a shrtcut of mortscript command.
Edit: I misunderstood your question. I think there is a settings somewhere to allow 'when device is off, allow any key to resume.'
If can nott find in settings, do this registry tweak:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"DefaultKeyLock"=dword:00000000
Otherwise search for KeyLock.cab
But it's not long press to resume, just press any key to resume.
Oh wow, I didn't think anyone would reply to my thread. Thanks for the great tips!
Hi guys,
For suspending power on my Topaz I use a little programm called MySuspend.
However, it started to make problems on my analog clock in my Co0kie Home Tab home screen. This clock seams to stop going when the device is suspended.
BTW, the nominal flip-clock goes as it should.
I marked also that when suspending (turning off screen) with the power button, it does not influence that analog clock, so....
could anybody help on how to assing the direct functionality ????
(I use Advanced Config to assign. The question is actually what is the actual .exe file, that is nominaly assigned to powef button).
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am not certain of the actual 'power off' function and what .exe initiates it, but if you install TD2 Tools (or whatever the latest version is called) you can set your softkey in HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila
Set HomeLSKText"="Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe" to initiate Boot manager Screen, as shown below.

Thanks Bruce for the hint,
but I just would like to click the left soft key and it should be done (suspended).
The choice of couple of options is a bit to many clicks to go.
Thanks anyway
Anybody knows the solution ???
One thing you can try...
I'm not certain if TD2 Tools replaces anything in regards to .exe's but if you can browse through your windows folder and look for some type of power???.exe (not sure what it would be called exactly) but it should start with 'power' and see if you can find the .exe that activates a power down.
That's how I found the .exe in my previous post, but mine may have been replaced....
Sorry, just to be clear, you want to power off device or just suspend?
Bruce,
I want just suspend the device, exactly as the power button does it
I may be wrong but.....
I don't think it can be done as the power button suspends via the baclight settings in the registry.
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight]
"ACBrightness"=dword:0000000a
"ACTimeout"=dword:00000000
"ACTimeoutTemp"=dword:00000000
"ACTimeoutUnchecked"=dword:00000000
"AutoBklOffset"=dword:00000000
"AutoDeviceLockEnable"=dword:00000001
"AutoDeviceLockTimeout"=dword:00000005
"AutoSensor"=dword:00000001
"BatteryTimeout"=dword:00000078
"BatteryTimeoutTemp"=dword:00000000
"BatteryTimeoutUnchecked"=dword:00000078
"Brightness"=dword:00000007
"DimBKLinUnlockScreen"=dword:00000000
"LedOnOffAdcValue"=dword:0000013f
"LightDetectOn"=dword:00000000
"MAXBrightnessScale"=dword:0000000a
"MINBrightnessScale"=dword:00000001
"QKeyLedTimeout"=dword:0000000a
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\BackLight\LockLevel]
"LockLevel"=dword:00000000
There is no .exe involved.
Well,
I just found poweroff.exe, that makes the action that is done when you press and hold down the power button.
So if that is an exe-file for this action, then ......... ??
I assumed you had checked for the .exe already!

As I wrote before "I found in Windows folder poweroff.exe"
So hopefuly there might be some other option for suspending as the button, but where .......
Perhaps something is getting lost in translation here but....
You stated "I just found poweroff.exe, that makes the action that is done when you press and hold down the power button."
Does that mean when you click the poweroff.exe, your phone goes to suspend as it does when you hit the power button? Did you confirm this?

Sorry, I've been away for a while.
When I click power.exe, it asks "Do you really want to turn off your device?",
ie. it's as if I would press & hold the phisical power button.
So, if that function of the power button exists as an exe-file, I assume that a suspend-function also would, but I can not find anything like "suspend.exe".
Maybe the file has another name ??
Grab Keyboard Config for Topaz from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821&highlight=keyboard+config
Edit action for button of your choice. Under the Power management category, I have screen power toggle, suspend device and reset device.
Is this what you are after?

My goal was to assign the "suspend" action to the left soft key,
but thanks a lot arrow224 !!
I assigned one of the hardware buttons & will test it
