My S730 turns off automatically - HTC Wings

Hey there.
I have my HTC S730 for nearly 2 months now.
I don't know why but my Wings plays a strange melody and then turns off.
Even if the battery is fully loaded! After it turned off it takes a long time before i can turn it on again. I can push the start button on the top of my smartphone but nothing happens.
I don't know what it is. I Hardresetet my device 3-4 times now but it's still not working correctly.
Can you please help me?
Did anyone recieve the same "error"?

I have the same error!
But no solution.
It happens sometimes, mosty not logical... I'll wait for a few weeks, if it keeps on i'll go back for warranty!

What are you running when the reboot occurs? Never looked but is there a way to schedule it to do such a thing?
Does it display anything on screen before it happens? You might check in the power options to see if its shutting down due to some setting...
When I have some time I will dig through mine and take a look.
Off the top of my head I would surmise that its either overheating and shutting off, an installed application is causing issues and it is turning off, a setting within the phone is causing it to turn off, or something is wrong with the device.

May be caused by overheating. I have no other applikation installed on my Device since i Hardreset it. It shows up the HTC logo when it shutsdown.
I dont run any applications at all. Sometimes i listen to music with the Music Player.
When i start my phone up again (after some waiting time) it shows me that my battery power is 0. After some time of waiting it shows me that my battery is nearly fully loaded.
It only happens 1 or 2 times per day.
But please help me

It's not overheating in my case.
I saw it happen last time (5 minutes ago), just before the HTC logo is saw a little cross trough the battery indicator. I suppose the battery is not good? After reboot the indicator shows a full battery??

I would give HTC a call about those batteries. I would think that they are bad, or the phone is having issues drawing power from them and so it shuts off.
If its overheating it should be VERY warm to the touch, I have gotten mine warm but never hot after some heavy use, but I just let it cool off afterwards and it was just fine.
Usually with low battery it will flash a warning on screen and make a noise indicating low battery, but if the battery suddenly is in zero the phone could automatically shut off. Does it power off quicker than a normal shut down sequence? I would have thought that the phone would just run until it's instantly cut off by a dead battery, but if its misreading it or reads it in the danger zone it could have an auto shut down.

Had the same thing with my wings/s730.
After hard resetting it it worked fine again.

Diamond turns off after a while.

Hey.
My diamond is acting strangely. For example, right know it's on but later on today or during the night it will turn off. And each morning I have to take out the battery out for about one minute and then press the power on button to get it to start up. If I don't take the battery out and I press the power on button it doesn't start-up. It just remains off. Sometimes it just gets stuck at the start-up O2 screen. But after a few tries it starts up normally and works.
I don't want to have to do this each morning, like I've been doing for the last several days.. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.
no but I've been having a similar problem lately, my diamond seems to shut itself off almost right after WM boots. I figured it might be a battery problem because it seemed to happen only when it was running off the battery or right after I disconnected it from the charger so I threw on nuePowerCPL to check battery levels, disabled the backlight power management and it's been up and running for 2 hours straight ... when I exit neuPowerCPL I get a voice command error that says voice command had a problem starting, please re-run the application and the phone freezes. Totally stumped about the powering off though. It may have something to do with the power management, I think it seemed to happen most when the screen tried to shut itself off, not always during that time though. I've reflashed telus(my provider) shipped rom a few times and tried a few other roms, reformatted my internal storage, hard reset etc. Any help would be appreciated if it saves me a few bucks on a battery.
quick bump, i'm completely stumped here. I booted into the latest android image from MrPippy and the phone doesn't restart when it's unplugged like in winmo without the battery monitor running(in winmo my phone will stay on till the battery is completely dead, showing good power levels, only if the battery meter is running, otherwise it restarts within a few minutes regardless of if I'm touching it or not.).
So it works normally with Android?
Then it's seems to be a problem with Windows.. Have you tried flashing another ROM?
Goodluck.
Also, an update on my situation. Thankfully it appears to be working normally now. At least if during the night I turn it off and take out the battery. There hasn't been any unexpected shutdowns since I left the battery out on Sunday night. Tonight I'm going to leave it on, to see if leaving the battery out all night actually helps, or it just is suddenly working properly.

Yeah, I've tried running a few different stock roms, a few off ppcgeeks/everythingdiamond etc, re-flashed spl once or twice, repartitioned/formatted sd card. Even tried leaving my battery out overnight. Was thinking in a frost-free freezer, in a bag of rice tonight ...
):
And how would that help? lol

If there's any moisture in the battery the rice will pull it out and the cold helps arrange the polarity in the battery ... You never used to put dead batteries in the freezer to bring them back to life when you were a kid?
Well, no. I've never heard about that before. >.<

Didn't work anyways. I just read another thread about a hard reset solving this but ... I've gone as far as completely repartitioning my internal storage + hard resets and that hasn't solved it. When I throw a multimeter on my battery the voltage is constant/consistent. At a total loss. As far as I can tell it seems like a blackhole in my battery between 0%-60%. Seems that once the battery drains itself to 60%, it's more like it's drained itself to 0%. When I plug the phone back in after it shuts itself off the battery is always reading 0% NOW, when I started troubleshooting this crap a few weeks ago it would power off any time (battery @ 94%) and I would power it back on to see windows reporting the same battery levels as when it shut off.
Update: I did a format w/mtty a day and a half ago and my phone hasn't restarted since (besides me restarting it, read ahead). The phone seems to be working fine for the most part but it seems the battery readings are never updated, it will sit w/an icon that says 94% in the taskbar all day, when I restart it it jumps down to 59% and stays there all day until another restart. Seems the only time I'm getting a reading from the battery is on first boot. Doesn't restart now though!
Good.
Unfortunately for my Diamond had a blank black screen when I turned the screen on this morning. ): After a couple of soft resets and after flashing another ROM it began working correctly. I'll see if it does the same tomorrow. :/

Which ROM had the problems? Which is the new one?
I have the same problems with EnergyROM (September 20 release). My current guess is WM6.5 not working properly with power controller of Diamond.
Could be. :/ The first time it gave me problems I had a WM 6.5 rom, and this time I had also flashed a WM 6.5 rom.. When it re-began to give me problems it had BOGYSOFTS V6 ROM, I don't know about the first time. Now that you point it out all the times it has given me problems I had a WM 6.5 rom, but maybe it's just coincidence..
Now it's not even turning on. If I press the Power On button and leave in it's pocket after a while it becomes somewhat hot... I don't know what's up. :S
This randomly started happening to me about 4 months ago. I was out at some clubs and whenever i checked my phone it was off! I thought it was a battery issue at first as thats what it seemed like.
I think I just hit the phone on the soft part of my leg pretty hard a few times. I havn't had any issues since.

Tilt thinks battery is empty when its full

My phone suffered some water damage and everything seems fine except for whatever piece of hardware checks if the battery is fully charged (is it on the battery itself?). The amber charging light was on for 5 hours and yet my phone would just boot up to the Today screen, produce a Battery Low message and shut off. I had my phone in the bootloader for a few minutes so I was fairly certain that the battery was charged. By some stroke of luck, I was able to use my phone for a short time. The phone recognized that the battery was full and I was able to browse the internet, make calls, etc. When I rebooted the phone to check if this was a permanent change, I found out that it was not. My phone went back to shutting off upon startup.
Is there a registry entry to disable automatic shut off? I could cook a crude ROM with just this registry entry so that at least my phone would be functional.
Or do I need a new battery?
Thanks in advance for your help
im having similar issue but not from water.. every time i use speakerphone the phone dies or using the camera.. this happens most of the time if i use either one.. im thinking its battery shorting out maybee.. once i plug it in via use or ac to give it power its fine.. i have a replacement battery coming so i hope that will fix it
My Kaiser phone also suffered some water damage from a spilt bottle of water. The amber charging light was on for hours and yet my phone would just boot up to the Today screen, produce a Battery Low message and shut off. By some stroke of luck, I was able to use my phone for a short time after the phone recognized that the battery was full and I was able to make calls etc. When I rebooted the phone after charging to check if this was a permanent change, I found out that it was not. My phone went back to shutting off upon startup. Brought a new battery but still experiencing the same problem. HELP

OP3T dead - not turning on and not charging

Hi guys, I have a huge problem.
Currently I'm on vacation in Croatia, where it's around 38-40 C every day. One day I had to log into an unsecured wi-fi. I know, i shouldn't have done that but it was urgent. Well, the same night (while charging) my phone turned off itself and I had to turn it back on on the next day. It worked the whole day until I opened the camera. Suddenly the phone went off and I wasn't able to turn it on. At first I thought the battery has drained so I plugged it into the original OP charger (dash). It gets warm while charging, but the LED is not turning on. After an hour of charging I still can't turn the phone on. Not even after a charging over night. There's also no vibration after holding the power button, neither holding the power-button for 20 (or more) seconds . I can't even get into recovery mode by holding volume-down and power.
I'm on original Resurrection Rom.
Is there anything else I could try? Could it be that some hardware is damaged (overheated)?
Since I'm on vacation there's currently no way for me to do any kind of unbricking until I find some phone-repair service.
I'm not a pro, but Im pretty sure the problem occur on the hardware side since the phone is not taking the charge and no vibration
I once had an Android phone (not 3t), the same thing occured, the phone I had had some hardware damage near the battery so I experienced the same problems you listed, ended up getting a new phone
Overheating is probably not the issue, at least not the 40C air temps you mentioned. These devices can probably something like 60C (internal temp at CPU or battery) before seeing any damage. Lot of folks live where it's just as hot as where you are, if not hotter. So I have to think the device is designed to work under such conditions.
Try holding the power button longer (a minute or more). I don't know about this device. But on my old HTC M8, there were instances where the phone powered off by itself. And the power button needed to be held over a minute, to make it boot. Although no charge LED is concerning.
Mine did the same a few days ago, was tethering and the phone just shut off. Buttons didn't work, no vibration, no charge LED, no anything. Thought it died but after plugging it into a PC it was detected as QHSUSB_BULK (hardbrick).
But it turned on normally after a minute lol.
Hallo. Mine also crashed. I was in the sunset playing game and taking pictures. Then phone suddenly got so warm and lagged, It turned off itself. No reaction. I connected into charger and then turned on hopefully. I think you must take care, because it has metal body and easy heating, and when heating it's lagging and not works good
My opinion is that it's overheat problem

You will see Qualcomm download mode message (QHSUSB_BULK) whenever the device is powered off. It needs to be powered on, at least to bootloader (or recovery or OS) for the PC to connect in any other way.
Update
After 3 days, it finally turns on and charges as expected. Don't know if it has to do anything with it, but i let it in the charger for 1 day.
but now another problem occured.
every time I press the homebutton the phone crashes and goes off. this only happenes if the fingerprintscanner is not requested.
i.e. unlocking phone with fingerprint, does not crash, but... pressimg homebutton to go back to home screen crashes.

Random restarts, how to narrow down the cause?

I've had my Note 8 since launch and have been putting up with random restarts every few days (even happened mid call a couple of times) so I took the plunge and factory reset it a week ago. I purposefully only restored the most essential apps to rule out any of them as the cause.
Over the last week, I've had a few restarts and noticed that they occur when the phone is coming in/out of sleep e.g.:
Taking the phone off wireless charge, the screen tries to turn on but it just turns the phone off.
Putting the phone on wireless charge, the phone goes to display the wireless charging indication halo thing then just shuts down.
When I've had a notification come through when I'm out and try to turn the screen on, then it restarts.
These have only happened once each time so I can't repeatedly try any of these out to see if I've found the cause. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or know how to narrow down what the cause could be?
