Reg file import - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi
IN HKLM/ Manila I've exported the weather cities key as reg file to my internal storage.
Similarly HKCU/manila i've exported launcher key.
But I'm unable to restore/ import the keys in the handset after new ROM Install. I'm using PHM Reg editor.
Can anybody resolve and provide a solution?

Are you getting an error of some sort or do the changes just not go into effect? Remember, after importing anything to the registry, you should power cycle the device.

No error
No error, just the reg file is not recognized by reg editor and the import tab is disabled

Did you try cycling the device? Try Resco Registry and see if it does the job (you can get the trial to do this).

rESCO REGEDIT
Could you pls provide cab for resco regedit I don,t want full explorer

Help! File Explorer freezes upon opening!

For some reason, I'm not sure why, when I open File Explorer it just hangs. It keeps loading. I have to go to Memory and end the task. File Explorer always opens up on \Windows. It's probably because the folder is so huge but I'm sure it's something else. Because it crashes I'm not able to install anything else since I can't browse folders. Can any of you guys help? At least for starters, is there a registry key I can change to not make it try reading \Windows at startup?
Okay, I found the regkey and changed start location to "\" and it works now. I still don't know I can't access the windows folder though. it'll hang my system until i can get to my PC and use the remote registry editor.
can somebody recommend a good alternative folder browser?

Total Commander will do the job nicely. BUT honestly I would do a hard reset as if you continue with that problem it will make life a misery in the future and indeed corruption on the windows directory could interfere with other things too.
It's also probable that the likes of Total Commander might also hang.
Unlike the TyTn 1 the Kaiser should open up the Windows directory failrly quickly.

Here are two fixes:
Using a registry editor:
HKCU>software>microsoft>file explorer>Local Path (change \Windows to just \)
Last location on 0 (zero)
Reset
And if that doesn't work (this fixed my issue),
then open File Explorer
Click on Menu>Sort> change it to Name

TouchFlo3D - Replace standard functions eg. Contacts, Alarm etc..

Hi!
I would like to change some of TouchFlo3D's default programs.
Homepage:
-Clock & Alarms. I will like to replace this shortcut with Klaxon alarm program.
-Calendar: Replace with ThumbCal.
People:
-All People: This button originally opens Contacts. I would like it to open iContacts instead.
I already tried to change the registry for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS to \Program Files\iContact\iConctact.exe.
I've tried to search around for information about this, but so far without luck. Can someone help with this?
Thanks!

What's the registry hack to set MEdia Net to "Always On"?

I have a Tilt 8925 and I recently upgraded to WM 6.1. Now I'm unable to set MEdia Net to "Always On".
When I was on WM 6.0, I used KaiserTweak to do it and it worked perfectly, no problem. But since WM 6.1, after I soft-reset, the setting reverts back to "Enabled."
I even tried ACT, and I get the same result after I soft-reset.
As a test, I tried to set the AT&T ISP GPRS connection to "Always On" and that worked. It's only the MEdia Net one that doesn't work.
Does anyone know where in the registry and I edit directly to set MEdia Net to "Always On"?
Thanks!
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Media Net
Set Alwayson to 1
You don't really need to do a soft reset.
Hey, thanks for registry info.
Well, I tried it, set it "1" and as a test, I did a soft-reset. I went back into the registry and the value was back to "0"!
I know you said I don't have to soft-reset, but the purpose of me doing that is to ensure that the setting lasts when I turn off/restart my phone.
There's something that's definitely setting that value back to "0" when the phone starts up. If I can find a way with some sort of start-up script that will set that value in the registry, then that would work. I'm thinking like how in Windows you can export to a *.reg file and double-clicking on the .reg file imports the entry into the registry. Something like that.
I solved the problem by using Dotfred's Task Manager (which includes a Registry Editor).
First, I exported the MEdia Net key to a .reg file and then I created a shortcut to the Task Manager and placed the shortcut in my startup folder.
The great thing about Dotfred's Task Manager is that it has lots of command-line switches, including a "silent" mode so that it can load the .reg file without any popups whatsoever.

Sometimes the soft reset immediately after making a registry change is too soon, as in you did the soft reset before the change was saved.
Dotfred's task manager is good and I'm glad it helped you.

Can You tell how to do this ? I have try Dotfred's Task Manager, but dont kow how use it, also whit the reg of this program I coul set always on to 1 but Medianet keep geating off some times
This is no longer working for me, ever since I started to receive the "Network Logon" screen at boot-up.
I don't get any errors at startup, but it's just that now when I check the registry, the setting is still set to disabled (0), even though my registry has it set to enabled (1).
However, I am also no longer experiencing any internet disconnect issues.
But if you want to know how I originally did what I did, here are the steps:
Start Dotfred Task Manager Registry Editor;
Navigate to the MEdia Net entry (see previous post by golfer_boy) for the path;
Set/ensure the AlwaysOn setting is enabled;
Export the MEdia Net entry (tap and hold, then select "Export") to your storage card somewhere;
Launch File Explorer;
Navigate to where you exported your MEdia Net registry data file;
Tap and hold the file and then select "Copy";
Navigate to \Windows\Startup;
Tap and hold and select "Paste Shortcut";
Use a text editor to edit the above shortcut .lnk file. In my case, I connect my phone to my PC, then copy the file over to a temp directory on my PC, and use Notepad to edit it;
Edit the file such that the path to Dotfred's Task Manager prefixes your MEdia Net registry file and that the syntax is correct. See the instructions at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms861519.aspx for the correct syntax;
Note 1: When you edit the .lnk file, make sure that ONLY the entire path to the Task Manager (Registry Editor) is in quotes. The path to your MEdia Net registry file and other parameters must NOT be in quotes.
Note 2: Make sure that you have configured your Dotfred Task Manager to start as the Registry editor by default.
Note 3: Include the Dotfred's Task Manager "/silent" parameter so that it loads the registry file automatically, without prompting you.
Example: 80#"\Program Files\FdcSoft\TaskMgr\TaskMgr.exe" \Storage Card\MEdia Net.reg /silent
Save/copy your file into the \Windows\Startup folder on your phone;
Reboot to make sure it works.
Good luck!
An easier way.
Nuspieds, you are right on the money up until step #10.
But once you've exported your desired registry value to a .reg file here's what you should do. (You will need Ghisler's Total Commander)
10. Using Total Commander, tap and hold your .reg file and select "Properties". Then select the "Associate" tab in the window that opens.
11. Tap the gray box that says "Associate..."
12. In the "Command:" box, reference the location of TaskMgr.exe (ex. \Program Files\FdcSoft\TaskMgr\TaskMgr.exe)
13. In the "Parameter:" box, leave the "%1" and add "/silent" (%1/silent)
That's all you need! Enjoy!

[Question]How to change the softkeys?

I want to change my left softkey[in the today tab of TF3D] to "Camera" instead of ''Phone".
So I used Resco Registry and changed the string of HomeLSKPath to /windows/camera.exe and changed the path of both HomeLSKArguments & HomeLSKText in HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Htc\manilla\ to "Camera"
But it doesn't seem to work? I must be missing something?
I couldn't find Camera.exe under windows either, but resco did find it with a search...
did you soft reset?
you need o set file explorer to view all files. camera.exe is probably hidden.
Haha, So stupid of me, I forgot to restart TF3D. Thanks and topic can be closed =)
Great... I just got the same question... I just wanted to get Contacts insted of Programs...
So I think I can proceed the same way...

Is there anyway to change the Ringtone location?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\RingDirectory = Storage Card\music
How
I am new to this community and just got my first WM phone a couple of days a go, TOPAZ..
How do I use regedit to alternate like shown above???
You can try PHM regedit. It's same like desktop pc regedit.
you can also try the "pocket version" of TotalCommander, there a biult-in Plugin for the registry
Problemo
Hey
Couldn't get it to work, and couldn't actually find the exact HKEY either from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Rin gDirectory = Storage Card\music.
For me it was identical up till \SoundCategories, but no RingDirectory key. It looked something like HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory
Modifying the Ring\Directory into "Storage Card\music" didn't help either, any ideas what could be the problem?
Also cannot get this to work. Have changed the setting from original \windows\ to Storage Card\music. Can anyone advise on the exact think to type in the space. Even tried adding the \ in front but same results
I tried it as well and didn't work. The strange thing is that I also used SKTools and found this as a configurable setting and it did nothing as well, seems that it was changing the same registry value.
