Sort Contacts By First Name? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello guys. it may be a simple question but I cannot find an answer for this.
I only have the option to sort it by last name.
how can I change to first name listing?
thanks alot!!!

I got the same problem (I used to sort my contact with first name too...)
but seems wm doesn't give any options how we can sort the contact.. sigh...

I think that the only way is to reverse the surname with the name tag in Outlook, at least I have done so.
Full name, I put them in the same field as if it were a composite name and I left blank surname, then if you want the last name first, just invert.
Other methods I have not found for the diamond, there was p3600 shows by name or surname

I found a way.
At Leas on my mac.
I tried 2 softwares to synchronize my Contacts with Diamond..
*SyncMate
- Syncs all goo but no option to sort First Name.
*Missing Sync
- Perfect. Lots of options including sort First or Last Name.
iCal sync, tasks, everything you would expect and more.. it goes even further providing SMS/MMS syncing, itunes, iphoto...
incredible.
If you are like me and uses your HTC Diamond to sync with a Mac for me there's no better choice!

Search for the tiny program called "Contact Changer" This does what you want

Hope this helps.
sync the Diamond to the Outlook on your pc.
In Outlook, select the display method as First Name, Last Name.
Sync again to get the sorted contacts back to the diamond.
or..
change the FILE AS field as required (will take time as this has to be done one by one)

Outlook Contacts: Disable auto caps with the initials

I searched this issue on the web, but couldn't find a suitable answer.
When you create a new contact which includes initials like "van de", outlook replaces this with capitals, like "Van De".
It doesn't matter if you create this on the pocketpc or in outlook on the PC, after the first sync there are capitals.
I also looked at AutoCorrect options within outlook, but that doesn't provide a solution.

Screen broken. Contact retrieval?

Rather annoyingly my screen has broken (it's cracked, I think -- coincidentally only two days after my brother's did the same thing). I'd like to somehow get hold of my contacts from within the phone. My brother has done this using some sort of device emulator thing to open the file in which they're kept, however he's on a different version of Windows, and I don't see that file on my phone.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could explain how I can do this.
first of all, try connecting it with activesync. Then go to options and select contacts(make sure u save the current contacts on outlook first and delete them so that the PPC contacts takes the place of them)
Then, Simply sync ur PPC
Thanks a lot. However, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. I connect up, go to options... but I don't see what I can do to select contacts. I see it in the list of "types of information", but it doesn't have a box next to it that I can tick (unlike some of the types), and clicking on it doesn't seem to do anything.
Also -- and this is going to sound very stupid -- what's outlook? All I can remember that has outlook in the name is Outlook Express, but I expect that's not it. I tend to avoid that sort of thing, see.

Sim access protocol and "internal" contacts

The pda supports SAP. But synchronisation is only possible with the SIM contacts. Is there a way to also synchronise the contacts in the internal memory? (The nokia added this funcionality to there phones and it works wel)
Background: contact on SIM card only support limited characters and it is only possible to use 1 number per contact. In outlook there are more possibilities. The carkit i use does support this and this.
Thanks
try the wiki page?
I had to go and one time manually enter all my contacts into outlook.
Then somehow i had double contacts at one point. lolol.. Its not the greatest software the thing comes with. Id swear i read something about a contact bug.
search around, i found one i been using called icontacts i belive, here on the forum it opens nicely for new contacts.
while typing this my cat got a contact.
i search night after night but still no results. icontact is not the application that i'm looking for. I think is has to do with the bluetooth stack. What i find out know is that there maybe a rom provided by Schaps with have an option OBEX within the SAP setting

I hope that some can tell me more about it.

Sort contact y first name

I know this is probably easy but I have looked everywhere. I have windows vista with outlook 2007. I want to sort my contacts on my HTC FUZE so that the contacts are sorted by first name. Please help me. I know at one time I had a file I could run on my cell phone when I had a MDA and it sorted my contact but now I cant find it. Thanks!!!!
I have a Fuze forgot to update device info from the tilt I sold.
If the contacts are saved on your phone (not on your sim), then what you can do is go to each contact name, select Menu>Edit, and you should see a list of options of come up. What you want to do is go to where it says "File As" and from the drop down menu, select how you want the name to be displayed. for example, do you want it as "Last, First" or "First Last"
I had the same problem as you, but when I changed the format of the name like that, it all got sorted through first name.
Maybe THIS can help you out.

Great tool saves a lot of time by doing it manually.
pocket informant 8 let's you do this and sort your contacts many other ways.
It does but PI8 is not freeware and the previous solution is
Also, changes made in sorting inside PI8 does not affect the normal contact manager.

in case u hav too many contacts, thr s a easier way rathr thn doing each contact one by one......just sync d contacts with Outlook, change the sorting in Outlook Contacts folder to "First name" and sync back.....all contacts will be sorted d way, thy r sorted in Outlook.....
the contact changer 1.3 doesn't seem to work for me

"File As" issue with contacts

So I have been putting up with manually changing my new contacts from Lastname,Firstname to Firstname,Lastname for over a year and a half now. I have searched all throughout here, google, and ppc with no progress.
Any one have any cabs, reg hacks, anything at all that can default all new contacts to File as Firstname,Lastname?
Please. lol
i dont know if there cabs/reg hacks that can do it as your saving the contact or to automatically have the option by default but i do know that there are additional software that scan your contacts and then change the contacts to first name last name. Here are two of them that i know. One is called contact changer v1.3 (free) just google that and then there is one on the forums here called trinefix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468767
idk how well either of them work. I mean i tried them both and i think contact changer worked a little better then trinefix but they both left a few of them still last name first name because when i created the contact i did not create them properly i think
That trinefix works well, except I already have all my contacts sorted properly, by doing it manually. I was hopin for a reg trick to change the default.
But thanks for your input, appreciated.
