I'm new to Windows Mobile with my Diamond.. i can't figure out many options in WM6.1 menus/settings, and don't know where to look for..
Searched Windows Mobile website.. got the (Famous on internet) 61page user guide for WM6, which is useless..
I want a complete guide to Windows Mobile 6 which will give details of each menu and setting..
Please Guide me..
Look at the stickies on the top of the page! Install hardspl and then run the ROM of your liking.
The best way to find out what things are is to personally go and explore everything. That's what i did with my first device and it works great.

Well....That wasn't really what he was asking.
Sorry dude, I dont know any (if any) manuals are available.
You can find many answers in this forum, allthough it will take a while to look at them all
Best advise is trial and error, or use search on forums like this.
Found one reference guide, that might be helpfull
Download available directly from Microsoft.
https://partner.microsoft.com/download/global/40037645
Thanks NeilDK, but that's the same "famous 61 page guide" which is useless, i wanted something that gives menu by menu description of WinMob 6 or 6.1

Hey guys how would it be possible to change the OS language from Chinese to English on my O2 IIs?
Thank You in advance
Just choose rom you would like (with your favourite language) and then just load it. Everything (apart from ROMs - just pinpoint, I can upload it for you) is in Wiki. Start with choosing weather you want wm2003se or wm5.
i also wanna know it!
Hello what is the difference from wm2003se or wm5
I downloaded couple of ROMs from this site but it was saying that i got the wrong version installed on my pocket pc and can't upgrade.
If it's possible can i get a link where i can download ROMs, i would like to try both wm2003se and wm5
Thanks hope to hear from you soon
To know what is the difference between wm2003se and wm5 you have to read, read and read. Also some search can be affective. This question was answered milions of times.
To change ROM tou need to READ. Wihtout reading no rom shall be changed
Two hints:
1. Try to find out, what is rom you have now. WM2003SE or WM5
2. start reading EVEYRTHING what si written here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
3. Experiment with Search button on this forum - this is really safe and cannot explode your computer.
4. When you will have problem, that Wiki page nor search button cannot help, feel free to ask.
5. Don't be suprised, when you will get more answers like mine or no answers, if you ask for something, that is covered in Wiki or can be easily found using Search button.
would any one have a working link of newer Rom ?
this one doesn't seem to work http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/files/BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship.exe
thanks jakubd manual helps
this helped me allot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243652
and here is the link for the ROM: http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/files/BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship.exe
If you need any specific file that was on XDA ftp server and is not available any more, just post request - I have backup of whole XDA ftp with all roms from the time.
The newest ROMs are @ rapid and proper links are in the wiki - how to upgrade to 1.42 section.
Hi everybody!
Just got my new HTC Kaiser, yeah
But there is no world card mobile software included, even if manual told that and it should be there... I also called HTC support and they advised me like a noob where I can find it (program files ....).
However I cannot also find it from windows directory (if name is bcr.exe or similar or starting with w-letter.)
They advised me to make hard reset BUT I prefer not like to do it because I have already lot of sw and settings installed and I don't want to do it again. Also I that doesn't help... then hard reset for nothing... not nice...
btw. these 2 links at sticky thread didn't work.
Any way to get installation cab somewhere?
Also one question. In the sticky thread there is updated cabs... where I can find these sw:s current versionumbers from my device... so I would know do I have to upgrade or not... And is there a certain way to upgrade those cabs?
thanx for your answers and this is a great forum btw.
Its here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=339084
woow... thx... have to try....

Hello all.
Since English is not my native language and I'm some sort of new and not familiar here, I may need your help.
Bought X1 last week, after trying some nice guys' rom in xda, I'm wondering if I could able to cook my own rom, I mean to customize my system. I was wondering if I could ripped those things come along with offcial rom but not need, and those things I needed but some really good guys' roms don't have.
So, I am thinking of cooking a rom for what I need, can modify system file it self, such like, rip out "Block Recognizer" and replace it with "PlumSIP" (A really nice Chinese input method), just for example.
And in 2003Se I know some external softwares can be customize installed by extrom, I found out WM6.1 seemed used a special way, like build into a single image file...
Well, generally speaking, I am hoping someone could help me, to show me some tutorial to read and do myself.
Thanks a lot.
PS:Have downloaded kitchen pack, but don't know what all of those soft. would do... For now, I just know how to decomplie an offcial rom in to nb files..
I would also like some info on cooking. I have searched and read a lot on this site but I'm no closer to getting anywhere. I tried to follow the instructions to backup my ROM as they are very easy to follow, but it didnt work.
Does anyone cook with Vista?
What kitchen programs are out there?
Do you have to have a specific kitchen program for each model of phone?
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448809&highlight=kitchens but its outdated

X1 got its kitchen app pak, check this:
ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/TOOLs/KovskyKitchen.zip
for now I am trying to figue out each module's really would do....
Try jerpleas kitchen in the sticky at the top to start out with. It'll give you the basic kitchen with which you can build a working rom (and simple customization)
Then search for ervius multilang gui for bepes tools (i've linked to it a few times now in this forum).
That's the best I've seen so far, you can dump a stock rom using it and start adding from there.
Cheers dude, i appreciate that :thumbs up:

that may help, thanks. but i'm still looking for tutorials for how to modify dumped rom files to fulfill my own needed.
The only advice i can give is to search search search... There was a large area of trial and error when i cooked my first rom. Some tutorials worked some didn't and its like a combo of everything that will get u going.
IMHO; ervius has the better kitchen, but not for beginners
I agree with Fards: your best bet is to start with the sticky posted one and get used to the basic cooking process on a first place
i think so too. use sticky.
to get feeling for cooking its not needed to read the "X1-TUTORIAL".
check tutorials for diamond, ralphi, hermes and kaiser ... than you will get some aha-effects and you will see some identical rules for syntax and how-tos for cooking with this sticky kitchen.
normaly its not realy possible to make a tutorial for every pda-type cause ...
i dont know why but its o.k., if i look to me i see me dont like reading but more not writing anything ...

good idea, you've pointed me a way.
but i wonder if that is something different from x1 to those diamond, kaiser, raphel blah blah blah...
if you need more petrol for starting i can say only "begin now".
its not realy the same but its realy realy realy near the same.
Where can i get this update. I know im late but need it
Hi there and welcome to XDA i take it you have a TP2, you need to use Hard-SPL and read the sticky threads
Goodluck
Sigh
Bro come on... I hate rewarding laziness, but I'd feel bad not imparting any wisdom on you.
K. So since you didn't say what version of the TP2 you have, I'll tell you the basics. If you just want the stock (out of the box) upgrade to 6.5, which you probably do, go to htc.com There go to the search bar, and type in "__ touch pro 2" and fill in the "__" with your carrier. Click on your phone, then go to the downloads tab, and the update will be there. Just follow those instructions. But the moral of this story is to READ THE STICKY THREADS, and search a little before you post. It's more fun to find your own way, plus you get more out of it.

He doesn't need HardSPL if he has a phone where there's an official 6.5 upgrade available. Although HardSPL and a cooked ROM would be even better.

Thays what i meant
Hello,
As you are aware I'm new to the forum.
To keep it simple this is what I'd like.
I'm not very technically knowledgeable and I do usually search things for myself but in the risk of stuffing up my new Smartphone completely I thought I'd better ask some experts.
My TP2 is currently running Windows Mobile 6.1 happily, I'd like to upgrade it to 6.5 as I've heard it's better. (Also is & possible on a TP2? ) I'd like step by step instructions because I just learnt what a .cab file is and i successfully installed my first to stop the bloody phone unlocking when I receive a text. Just want to know also, how do I back up my phone in the emergency case and will i lose all my contacts and files if i upgrade?
Anyway thanks in advance, I'd be happy for someone to refer me to another site or thread and sorry to waste your time if this has already been asked.

to change language you first need Hard-SPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
Dude, I went through this 4 weeks ago, just go to this link and follow the steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Also I recommend you install the energy ROM from this link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
or jackos :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632617
both are extremely great, I tried them my self, may be you find more better than those, or more suitable
