Hello.
Where the data of touch flow 3d is stored ? because i dont want anytime when i hard reset my phone to manually add for ex: favorite contacts and weather.
Thanks.
weather is stored as a registry key (sorry can't remember off the top of my head.. but not hard to find)
favorite contacts are in the 'pim.vol' file in your device.. you can use total commander to copy that file to internal storage before a flash, and paste it back after.. (i've had varying results when i sync after doing this) or SPB backup will keep a backup of your favorite contacts.

Hey does anyone know how to get all the contacts that are listed in my Gmail account onto my phone so that when i compose new messages i dont have to type a person's entire email address?
It seems like there has to be a way but i can't quite figure it out.
Thanks!
I'm sticking my neck out a bit here, but I think this will work
Load up your Gmail account on your PC, and go to Contacts; over on the top right of the contacts display is an "Export" link. This opens a new window, with two choices - pick the one that says "export to Outlook" and then save the file it generates somewhere on your PC. If you don't want every single contact imported to the phone, edit the .CSV file with Notepad (or whatever) and delete the lines containing the contacts you don't want. When you're done editing, save the file back as a .CSC file with the same name. That's the easy bit, now comes some fun
Use ActiveSync to copy the .CSC file to somewhere on your phone - the Storage Card is probably as good a place as any......then,
....use DotFred's "PPC PIM Backup" utility - get it from HERE - on your phone and select "Restore" from the drop down list on the first screen. Then navigate to where you saved the .CSC file on your phone and select "Next". You will then see a screen similar to the one attached - make sure you select "Comma" as the field delimiter and then tap Next to import the contact data...
CAVEAT: If you have contacts already stored on your phone, use PPCPIMbackup to take a backup of them first.....just in case this procedure f*&ks things up completely (as I said at the beginning, it should work!!).
You should now have all your Gmail contacts on your phone and you can edit them with the phone's Contacts application so they look (maybe) a bit more presentable...
Hope this is of some help
Mark.
Hi,
In TF3D, I found where to backup playlist from HTC Audio Manager tab, shortcuts from Program tab, cities from weather tab, SMS, etc.
There is still 1 tab that I didn't find : People tab, where are my favorites contacts.
I looked in registry, some folders... but nothing. I even try with Ssnap/iDiffCE (from SKKV Software)... but nothing :'(
Someone could help me (of course, I don't want a full backup... I already use Resco Backup... what I want is just a specific backup of "People" tab)
PS : of course, I already search in this forum... sorry if there already is a thread like that. If it's the case, thx to mods to close/delete my thread .
I Think there is in "\PIM.VOL"
I made a backup manually (CEMAIL.VOL, PIM.VOL, Windows\Messaging and My Documents\UAContent) and I retrieve my favorites contact. (including SMS/MMS and EMAIL)
Seb = = = o>°o
hum... don't think it's in PIM.vol : it's the main Outlook PIM database.
CEMAIL, Messaging & UAContent are for mail & S/MMS.
But I'll try. Thx Bandit .
Are you sure that you don't backup anything else ?
Backuped :
PIM.VOL
CEMAIL.VOL
\Windows\Messaging
\Application Data
\My Documents
Perhap's there is an extra field in one database of PIM.VOL used by Manila.

Backup (with Resco Backup), hard-reset, restore only pim.vol... and tada... my "People" tab is restored too.
In fact, it isn't really "tada"... because I don't want to restore my full pim database (I use Outlook to restore it)... and I don't think that it's possible to backup only a part of pim.vol :'(
Thx Bandit13 .
I was using Dutty's v3.6b. When I add favourite contact and take pictures for the contacts, the pictures will be preserved even after I hard reset my diamond. However, I'm using v4 now, and the pictures wasn't preserved. I couldn't find where the old pictures were, but when I re-added a favourite contact, the picture will automatically be attached.
You can try Spb Backup. On the homepage there is a trial version that lets you back up your whole phone 5 times. But I recommend only backing up Contacts and Messages. If you back up your system data your phone might not work, after you execute the backup file.

Actually, I wanted to ask where are the photos stored, and how come it was stored before and not now?
how can I simply back up my phone contacts or simcard contacts to my computer?
just in case my phone crashes, or I lose my contacts by accident
so yeah how can I back up my contacts to my pc, so i can recover them to my phone later or at least view the numbers on my pc for manual backup
so its not possible or something? lol
Go into your root directory, and copy PIM.vol into your sd card...everytime you format the phone copy and paste the PIM.vol back into the root directory. It should overwrite all of your contacts information.
Phone>via ActiveSync>PC (Outlook) From here export Contacts as a file. Deposit somewhere safe.
If both phone (including SIM) and PC are fu**d up, you're still able to get back all contacts next time.
Import file in Outlook>Activesync> Phone.
Success!

you can olso use pim packup, i use it every time i flash a new rom
My way is the easiest.
I just use http://sn1-p3.myphone.microsoft.com/
For me PIMbackup48 is the easiest way as you can schedule it, and it can create a backup file anywhere on the sd card. I usually keep 10 days of these small backups.
Don't restore a PIM backup if you use Active sync. Arghh.
Or if you do, don't get the PIM backup to do contcts and calendar and tasks or anything else ActiveSync can do for you.
I use ActiveSync and before doing a hard restart I backed up using PPCPimBackup too.
ActiveSync restored all my contacts, calendar events, tasks etc. Then when I restored using PPCPimBackup before I realised what was happening, I had 2 of every contact and calendar events (Birthdays, reoccuring events, holidays, the lot) on my phone, and then as Actvsync did its job, I had two of everything on my computer too.
So now I will use PPCPIMBackup to do SMS messages etc and the stuff ActiveSync doesn't do, and let ActiveSync do what it does best.
(I was able to recover though. I had a backup of my Outlook contacts in a PST file, so I deleted them all, when there were none, I reimported them to Outlook, ActiveSync put them on the phone, for the Calendar events, I searched and sorted by creation date and was able to pull all the duplicates out that way).

Good. any way for sms messages like this in a file ?
I used Sprite backup for my contacts, messages, bookmarks etc. However, when I restored, the bookmarks didn;t take in the web browser (Using Cognition 2.2 BETA). No biggie. But when I use Folder Organizer, they show up there. Now this isn't a problem, except for the fact that I can't seem to delete any of them.
Can anyone tell me where Folder Organizer gets the info for displaying these bookmarks so that maybe I can delete that and start over?
EDIT: Now it looks like I can't even add new bookmarks within the browser...grr... Well, it seems I can add NEW bookmarks, but if it's a book mark that I had before (one that Folder Organizer is showing) it won't add.
EDIT: I solved it by downloading Bookmark Organizer from the Market.
