Opera 9.5 and Google account - dirt solving - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I can't sign in to Google account using Opera 9.5, but IE6 has no problem.
So I opened this file:
\Windows\Opera9\opera.ini
And modified this line to be:
Custom User-Agent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.12) PPC; 480x640; HTC_P3700/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
Now I can use my Gmail & PicasaWeb with Opera 9.5
I have to wait until Google fixed their code to support Opera 9.5 in normal mode.
Just want to share with yours.
PS. Sorry about my english. ;-)

Well done getting it going.
For Gmail I reckon it is far easier to just use the Diamonds inbuilt WM6.1 email client. Simply setup an email account with imap.gmail.com as the incoming server and acc type IMAP4. Set outgoing server to smtp.gmail.com. And then the phone will check your emails at whatever interval you want without having to deal with the Browsers at all. Oh I seem to recall you also have to enable IMAP access to your GMail from your Google account before you can access it from an email client.
Personal preference I know - but I find the email easier to handle in the email client as against a browser on such a small screen.

Did you have this exact problem?
I used Total Commander to look at the ini file, but changed it to the way you have it means i have to almost completely rewrite that line... since the line in my file is short, it only mentions opera and htc p3700. Before I do change it, can you tell me what the changes mean?

It's Browser's User Agent changing.
Opera 9.5 reports as it's a full-featured browser running on PC. (Can't remember that it reports as Windows XP or not).
Then Google knows, and send some special scripts which Opera 9.5 doesn't support.
So I modified its User Agent to report that it's just a browser running on Pocket PC. (Modified from my P3300)
Then Google will send just simple scripts, like it does to other Pocket PCs and Mobile IE.
I'll try to remove Custom User-Agent and sign in to Google later.
EDIT: After Custom User-Agent was removed, Google works!!!
Original Opera reports as "Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/1938; U; en)"
But I think the one on my first post is better because it can reports that it's running on HTC Touch Diamond.
Or you can use this Custom User-Agent:
Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/1938; U; en) PPC; 480x640; HTC_P3700/1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1
Google Map maps ( http://www.google.com/gmm ) recognizes as it's running on HTC Touch Diamond.

Wow, thanks SuperToy_nc. This Opera glitch has been bugging me for long (I only check my gmail on web).

How do you sync the OPERA 9.5 bookmark on HTC diamond with the desktop

anybody know?
No idea mate, I use opera on desktop too, so I'd love to know this. The mobile favourites option on WMDC and Activesync only adds a folder to Internet Explorer not Opera
Rory
It would be stupid if I need to write a small software to convert the bookmark of OPERA to PIE's Favorites just to get it sync with the desktop

lol
I was about to suggest wroting your own software.
I prefer not syncing favourites anyway, because if I did my phone would have far too many...
Opera6.adr file containing bookmarks is compatible with the PC version - same structure.
So you can just simply copy this file from your PC-Opera to WM-Opera and vice versa.
dont you just copy the opera6.adr file from your pc to \windows\opera9?
I searched earlier, and found opera link. Kinda a server-side sync app, where with the new beta, on desktop, 9.5, you can sync, its called opera link. Do'nt know how it sync's to mobile though
Rory
Although, opera mobile 9.5 can sync with OPERA desktop 9.5, but I don't use OPERA desktop. So I don't benefit from it.
Yes, we can manually copy the bookmark file from the phone to the PC but that lost the meaning of syncing, right? We need something more automatically.
I havent tried this with Opera Mobile, but it worked with Opera Mini. I used Opera Link (as mentioned above) to sync bookmarks. Yes, if you use Opera Desktop, then it would help sync. But you don't need to use Opera Desktop to use Opera Link. You can sign into my.opera.com, and set up your book marks there, then use Opera Link to download them to your phone. Much easier than typing them on the phone directly...
I am using EasySync, it solved my need of auto backup the bookmark to the desktop.

How to synchronise Opera favourites?

For a while I wondered where my internet favourites were, I resynchronised and only then it dawned on me that it is Opera on the Diamond and not IE.
Does anyone know how I can synchronise my PC favourites (or my Google Toolbar favourites) with the Diamond?
It's not easy let me tell you.
Install Opera on your PC. Import your IE favorites into Opera, delete/add those you only want on the diamond (I only save my mobile favorites folder). Export Opera favorites file (opera6.adr) and copy to your device in windows\Opera9 and overwrite the original opera file.

Copy/Paste Favorites IE on opera 9.5 : is it possible ?

hi,
I want to copy my IE favorites on the opera 9.5 favorites on my diamond because it doesn't synchronize automatically the favorites on opera ????
Thanks for your answers.
Regards.
opera mobile use the same bookmarks format as opera browser on pc
so if you use it there you can use the free ms program called synctoy to
sync opera with opera mobile
otherwise i guess it's required that iexplore or pie can export to opera's xml format
or that opera mobile can import from pie or ie's format
the favorites are stored in the file opera6.adr (in the windows\opera9 map). you can replace that file with your own.
When I synchronize my diamond FR, the favorites IE is synchronise but not with opera ?
Can I find a solution for that : is it normal ?
Unfortunately it's normal. The only way I've found to do it with opera mini is download opera on pc and sync across - can't get it to work on mobile 9.5.
So I opened that file mentioned above in text editor and pasted them all in there in the obvious format.
Doing this you can also dictate the position you want them to be in on the browser front screen in TF3D but not in the browser bookmarks folder as they always show in alphabetical order in there.

Opera 9.5 Outlook Web Access CookieAuth.dll

Hi
I have trouble opening my Outlook Web Access mail in Opera 9.5 on my HTC Diamond.
Opera only asks if i want to open or save a file called CookieAuth.dll
Its no problem opening Outlook Web Access in Opera 8.65 or Internet Explorer, but it does not work in Opera 9.5.
Anyone else who has the same problem??
it's not exactly a solution to your problem but i found a very nice software that allows you to download your OWA emails as if you had the settings from the server (very helpful in the case of companies not allowing off campus email access other than OWA). It's called emoze and works very nicely... try it...
OWA

Hi
I experience the same problem. Even with previous Opera 8.5 (?), for symbian S60 Nokia Communicator i was not able to get access to my webmail.
With Nokia I had to use Opera Mini 1.20, and with Qtek or HTC i find Netfront the best (as it is the only one that memorizes my login data)
I can also get the mail with IExplorer, but it is annoying to have to write my login data every time
Seems like it is a problem with Opera then. But i like Opera, so does anybody know a way to come around this problem and still use opera?

Am I missing something here... But can you not just configure Pocket Outlook to check your emails? If you have access to OWA then this is in essence what Pocket Outlook uses to fetch emails.
I would love to do that, but because i sync my other email account with outlook on my PC, I can't use pocket outlook to check my OWA account.
Or is it some way too do that???

Well as long as the 'other email account' is IMAP/POP enabled then you can just create a 'New Account' in Pocket Outlook. It will have its own folder structure e.g. Inbox, Sent, Deleted etc. Who is the provider of your other email account?
I've got my work email via MS Exchange and also have 2 other email accounts on there too- just like many other people on here I'm sure.
What you can't do (as far as I know) in Pocket Outlook is actually 'sync' more than one email account.
But you can't configure a outlook web acces account on pocket outlook, you have to use active sync to set it up on the diamond, or am i wrong?
And when i does that it says that i can't sync OWA mail because i already sync my other email account with Outlook on my PC.
Must be someway that you can sync two email accounts!
Yes, you can configure OWA with active sync and then you set up any other emails via IMAP/POP. If you dont have a data plan, then both of email accounts will update when you connect the device to your PC (using it's internet connection). This is exactly how I do it- Like I said, my work email (OWA/Exchange) is setup 'via active sync' and then I have configured my two other IMAP and POP3 email accounts.
What you need to do, is not 'sync' your Outlook on you PC but rather create a 'New Account' in Pocket Outlook, the end result is still exactly the same but this way you can have you OWA and Outlook email both on you device.
If you have a look at my screen capture, you will see I have the 'Outlook E-mail' which is my OWA/Exchange email. Then I have my Hotmail account and I also have one called 'Sunil Hirji', which is my personal IMAP(or POP3) account.
Just wonder if your problem has been resolved. I have got a HTC Touch HD the other day and I have encountered the same problem.
Yes me too. I have tried to sync using ActiveSync etc., but it doesn't appear to work.
Could anyone provide some screenshots showing how it should be set up. I have a feeling there is a setting server side that is preventing me from syncing using ActiveSync (have e-mailed the IT guys today).
Even if I could access using Opera it would be good, but I get the Cookie authorisation problem. Outlook Web Access works fine on a desktop so am at a loss .
Get it working?
A possible "workaround" for this is setting up "File Types" for opera. To do this, open the opera.ini file (depending on the version of opera you are using, may be in different locations on your device), mine was located in windows\opera9. Edit the file using a text editor that supports UTF 8 encoding.
There is a section in there titled [File Types] with some entries under it. After the last current entry, add the following lines:
application/x-msdownload=2,,,,,|
application/x-msdos-program=2,,,,,|
Save the file with these entries back to your mobile device. Soft reset your device.
These tell Opera to open the x-msdownload and x-msdos-program mime types directly in the browser, rather than trying to download them as files.
I classify this as a "workaround" rather than a solution, because there may be some security implications related to making this change (ie there must be a reason why opera is configured to not automatically open .dll files in the browser as the default setting), so proceed with caution and accept all risk!
Anyway, hope this helps...
You beauty!!!

Opera Mobile no longer default, halp !

as we know the default browser is opera mobile 8.65?
I installed the 9.7beta of opera, it set its self as default, but I prefer the way 8.65 deals with downloaded cabs.
So I unticked the default box.
but now IE is the default when opening links in outlook and my twitter client.
There is no "make opera default" on 8.65
how do I get it back to default?
