I am a recovering Palm user from the early Treo release. Back on the Palm OS there was a handy piece of software called CradleCare which allowed you to have the phone do some automatic things while on a cradle (power and syncing to the computer)...such as a photo slide show on the screen and what I really liked, it would automatically forward the phone to a preset phone number. I found this invaluable as I would plop it in my cradle at home and it would automagically have my calls come to my land line.
I know they don't make a windows mobile version but I was wondering if there was anything else out there like it. Anyone? Thanks!

Check out an application called "phoneAlarm Pro" (LINK) , in phone alarm, you have automatic profile switching for events such as "cradle", "night" etc..
In the "cradle" profile you can set up auto call forwarding to a specified number. When you disconnect the phone from the comp, the profile switches automatically to "General" and the call forwarding gets cut...
Hope this helps...
Phoneweaver
Phoneweaver works well, you can have different triggers types for different profiles.
Time, power, manual etc...

I have attempted to flash Touch-IT 3 to my WING and it failed. I tried this twice the first time it disconnected somewhere in the middle of flashing and the second time it gave me a sector "error" (Can't remember exactly what it said). Now the lucky part is that I have be able to restart the device and it does function partially. Problem is that most of the functions of WM6 are now missing and I would like to have some opinions as to what would be a good way of building a usable device from this.
Things I need
Office
Transcriber (I am one of the few that use this)
Internet Sharing
A text messaging app. (I can receive them but cannot reply-to or find them after I dismiss it).
What to tweak to improve sound quality.
Network Name (like it says T-mobile not GET MORE.......)
WiFi to connect without having to select the network and press connect
Bluetooth Functionality (Bluetooth Sharing, A2DP)
A fix for this memory leak
Current State
32.98MB Storage Free
26.19MB Program Free (After Soft Reset)
No Programs Installed (Under Remove Programs)
Touchflo with Cube (Installed From Flash)
HTC Audio Manager (Links but no program)
MS Word (found a link that works but seems to be decompressing from someplace)
HTC Album (Does seem to function)
Total Commander
Calendar
Camera
Contacts (Has references in menus to PocketCM but it is not there)
Windows Media (Touch-It Skinned)
Tasks and Voice Recorder (Work)
Help (Has contents and most help files it seems)
HTC Home (Functions but no options)
That covers just about everything. If anyone has any ideas I'll be glad to hear them. The things in the list are the only stuff I have no idea how to put on without cooking them into a ROM and some of the stuff I have never even tried before.
Thanks
Look at either the HyperCore kitchen or the EasyBakeOven. The hypercore has more options, but the easy bake oven... well, it's easy. These will help you create a ROM.
As far as the errors, make sure the phone has its phone features turned off when you do start updating. If someone tries to call mid-update, it will break the update.
Any WM program that works on Tilt that allows for different profiles based on time? I had a simple program for my palm that I could set to change sound, brightness, etc settings based on the time of day. For example, it would put my phone in Silent mode Monday through Friday at 8:30 (when I would start work) and switch back at 5:00 when I was done. Anything like this?
Several. I use PhoneAlarm. Does all those things (unsure of brightness), SPB Phone Suite, SBSH PhoneWeaver, Pocket ZenPhone.
All of these tools allow you to automatically shift your phone base on time, calendar status, power status, etc. Unfortunately, none are free. Google for Zenphone's website.
www.sbshsoftwarehouse.com - spb phone suite
www.sbsh.net - PhoneWeaver
www.pocketmax.net - Phone Alarm
I use SBSH Phoneweaver and find it extremely useful. It has the ability to set profiles based on time and also auto profile if I have a meeting or something (such as change notification to vibrate). That said, PhoneAlarm is the No.1 marketshare profile program.

Where did the English language pages go?
Daniel, when I press the English flag, the page displayed is still in Spanish.
Also, do you have a functional comparison between your 2 apps?
Gracias.
I just bought a Touch Diamond -very nice phone with a couple exceptions.
Touchflo 3d is nice but Im finding it doesnt have much depth - it needs more functions. And the loudspeaker is not very good - not loud, not clear.
Anyways, its my first windows mobile phone and had a couple questions about what WM6.1 can do. Im using Vista btw.
1. Email - Im downloading ALL my email and its fairly big. Can I force it to save only to internal storage?
2. Music - How do you get the album photo to come up while playing through Touchflo music - the picture does come up if i just play in windows media player.
3. Is it possible to add/remove multiple contacts from the People Menu ie Favourite contact
4. Most important - connectivity. Is it possible to access the phone wirelessly from PC via router? The phone connects to the router wirelessly fine and I can use the internet. But what I want to be able to do is either access the internal storage or sync up with outlook without using the usb cable.
5. What kind of BASIC phone functions does it have?
Eg. Call timer during call
Stop it going to that call history page after a call - i want it to go straight back to home.
Theres more functions it seems to be missing....
6. How do you make it so it FULLY shuts down a program when u hit the top right close button? I dont want to have to keep re-hitting the top right button to open task manager and full close it that way.
7. Lastly, is there any secret tips that a newbie wouldnt know about eg. codes to get to secret menus etc?
1. I don't think so, but I don't download email, so somebody who does may be able to help.
2. Strange problem, probably to do with the version of ID3 tags each uses. But again I have no idea how to solve it
3. No idea with no device in hand
4. Microsoft, being twats, reoved sync via Wi-Fi with the upgrade to WM2003. So, sorry mate, no way that I know
5. My dialer on my other PPC has call timer I think, but the diamond's may not, a new dialer with it included may solve the problem.
Other stuff missing?
6. Get a proper x button, like WKTask, or Wisbar, or something similar. Its also probably possible to change the settings to make it close by tapping X. I also think that with the HTC program, you can close by tap and hold, or, from today, click where the x should be, and a menu comes up enabling you to close them individually.
7. Secret codes? Not that I know of.
Hope the small things I have known here do help
Rory
Yeah, 6 is definitely something that can be done in the standard Windows Mobile settings (unless they've removed the setting in 6.1, in which case a registry edit might do it).
I guess when the phone has been out for a while, a lot of registry tweaks and utils will show up around here to adress all kinds of small and big issues.
i was gona go for a diamond but look at htc touch pro. everything diamond plus hardware keyboard and memory expansion slot (minus front camera).
Found how to fully close the progam in one go - went to task manager - button - and chose "End Programs by tapping X"
Under this option is "End programs by tapping and holding X" which is the default.
I tried it and it does work but I dont like it. Coz u cant really tell how long to hold it. If u keep holding, the program actually just stays open until u release. And I guess if u release too early it wont fully close.
Anyways - thats not a huge issue - wireless sync is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone found a way to get around it?
Best you can do with WIFI is put the UNC name of your pc into the browser and bring up the shares.
If you want to sync wirelessly, you'll have to do it via bluetooth. You should be able to get a bluetooth dongle for your pc for about 20 bucks though.
OH YEAH!!!!!!!! Going through Opera to browse my PC directory - You little beauty!!!
Now, how do I set up a name for the diamond so I can see it on my PC. Is there a setting you have to enable? I browse for "PCs" and it doesnt find the diamond - just my other PCs
I have been using Brett PPCProfiles V3.0 for almost 2 and a half years. I really liked the flexibility in the program as well as the features. Have not been able to find any program that could match this programs features (atleast not by my standards). All good things come to an end, and I wanted to upgrade my profiles feature. I have gone through the free PPC software site but did not come up with something as good as PPCProfiles.
Has anyone out there used a program similar to this? I m most intesested in the feature that syncs your sound profiles with calendar. Also, should have the flexiblity of automatic profile switching depending on day and the time.
I use PhoneAlarm. It is great as it is very customisable with skins, etc etc. It is commercial though. Just Google it. They may even have a free trial I cannot remember.
another commercial piece of software is SPB Phone Suite. Really like the way it handles profiles. There is a 10 day trial or something.
Also commercial but does all of the above is SBSH's PhoneWeaver. In addition to just the sound profile it can also adjust your network settings (Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.), your backlight settings and can execute programs. Triggers can be day/time, calendar status, or ActiveSync/AC Power connect/disconnect.
I'd guess the SPB app is pretty similar.
Thank you all. I'll give the SPB a shot. I heard its reviews from a colleague, he's pretty happy with it. BTW PPCProfile also could also handle bluetooth based on profile but not Wifi, so SPB becomes even more interesting.
Phone alarm is the most advanced of these.
The current version offers the ability to customize everything from the Email/ SMS/ MMS/ IMS programs you use, to your default SIP, full sound-backlight-radio-wifi-push update rate...controlled by time/ appointment category, priority. It will even load new today screen skins based on the profile you want. There are hundreds of skins available.
Simply put, phoneAlarm Pro is the first app I install on any new phone. It is the most important one to me for full control of my phone's behavior.

Click to collapse
I agree 100% with this.
I'll +1 on PhoneAlarm. I wouldn't go without the automatic profile switching for work and meetings.. Work is quieter, with some more subtle alerts, and my "meeting" profile is nearly muted and most alerts only vibrate.
Plus other manual profiles, such as (daytime) Car (very loud and bright), Night Car (very loud, but dim backlight), etc etc...
Can't do without it.
Thanks guy, just downloaded a Trial for PhoneAlarm. Giving it a run now....
This post contains a few questions I have after a week or so using my Touch Diamond, about issues I've not seen mentioned on this or other boards.
1) When I hold phone then speak to phone a contact, it repeats the contacts name (ie plays the sample of my voice it used to identify the contact). Can I turn that playback off?
2) Sometimes holding the bottom right key (end call) does nothing, or just moves the touchflo 3d selection to the right, instead of locking the phone. It seems to do this more often if I've been using the phone to surf etc, and less if I've just used it for a few seconds, as if it's busy (although it's responsive in every other respect)
3) In the messaging app, under the top line of text, I can choose between:
Gmail
Outlook E-mail
SMS \ MMS
I'd like to remove the Outlook line - I never use it - it's just Gmail or text messages for me. Can I do this?
4) When I use Fring to do Instant Messaging (which doesn't seem to pick up on all my contacts for some reason - any idea why?) it will enable and use Wifi, even if it was turned off. But if I load Opera it'll not re-enable Wifi but will simply use my phone provider (ie 3G, GPRS etc). Is there any way of getting Opera (or any app, if that's easier) to enable Wifi when loaded. I want to use it for speed, and to reduce my data usage via my phone provider, but I don't want to pay the price in battery life.
5) Has anyone had any success in using their Touch Diamond to connect to a network (Ubuntu, using Samba, or Windows - I'm not bothered which)? Surely it should be possible?
6) Can I make Opera and not Internet Explorer the default app for .html files and links in emails/text messages?
7) Has anyone had any luck getting java applets working from web pages in Opera (or Internet Explorer, as a last resort)? I can get regular midlets working in the stand alone Java client thing, but I need to be able to log into secure sites using my phone and the sites use little Java apps.
I'm sure I had another question or two but it's late and I can't remember, so this should keep you going for now!
Thanks in advance.
Too many questions!
I'll answer number 5: Yes you can connect to a network share using a program called Network Plugin or, even better, Resco Explorer, although that one isn't free. I've only used it for Windows XP shares so far.
I'll answer number 2!
Do you use a rubberized case similar to the one in my avatar? I've come to realize that it somehow prevents the talk/end keys from functioning properly (same behavior - itll think im either trying to go left or right in tf3d). Removing the case fixes the problem for me. Sounds silly I know, but when I realized that it was the rubber case, I couldn't stop banging my head.
If you're not using a case of some sort, then I have no clue
I'll asnwer number 2 as well.
Had the same problem. I think it's a kinda bug.
Solved it with the new Rom 2.30.
